Morning all, back from my visit to see rellies in breezy Blackpool to rain and more rain in Suffolk!
Hope that those of us with worries and concerns can find some respite from them today- they really do gnaw away at us don't they?
Regarding husbands/partners etc with hearing loss denial- can I join the group? Mine says its me 'mumbling'- ha! The one thing I dont do is mumble-as a retired primary teacher I don't know how too wink grin x

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where I have overslept despite waking at 4am for 2 hours.
Sorry to hear of your DiLs setback MD. 4 weeks and counting is a long time away from her family.

I hope your DD is ok Gingster.

I have yoga, U3A and ceilidh dancing today .I made up a quantity of Bolognese sauce to last a while, and freeze. This was to make up for the 3 pieces of cake I consumed on Ash Wednesday.

My walking buddy and I planned a walk we will lead in May for our group of 20. These things need careful attention over coffee and cake.

Have a wonderful Valentine's getaway Pants. I'm not jealous at all

Hope even those with heavy burdens to bear find some joy today.

md I’m sorry that your DDiL has had another setback and hope that any infection can be treated quickly.
gingster I hope that you manage to get an urgent appointment for your DH and also that your DD isn’t in hospital for long. Hopefully the tests won’t reveal anything serious.

Susan56 Thu 19-Feb-26 08:59:08

Good morning from Shropshire.Overnight snow but seems to be raining now not the forecast sleet.

A morning of catching up after our few days away.DH has his exercise class this afternoon and the children will arrive for a sleepover.

I realise I need to push myself to do more.I have totally lost confidence in going out and about on my own so need to try harder!

Marydoll, DD and I went to see Midsomer Murders and I didn’t realise until the end that people had played a couple of roles. We really enjoyed the play too.I hope she source of your DIL’d infection is quickly found and treated.I too have a husband in denial about his hearing loss🤯

Thinking of all struggling and wishing everyone the best day possible.🦩🌻

Georgesgran Thu 19-Feb-26 08:51:35

Good Morning from Durham. It’s not raining, but it is very cold. I wasn’t going to post, as I’m only moaning about my teeth and staying in until Monday (next dental appointment).
However, having just read Marydoll’s post, I just wanted to pass on my concern that her DinL has had a setback, such a worry.
Happy holidays Pant

Best wishes to all. X

Gingster Thu 19-Feb-26 08:51:29

Good morning all and it’s rained all night.

At 9 o’clock I’ll try to ring the ‘urgent’ number at the hospital to get an appointment for Dh, as we haven’t heard.

Dd is still having tests at the hospital but I haven’t heard much from her. I’ll visit this afternoon.,

Sorry to hear your DIL won’t be coming home yet. So disappointing for you all.

Pants enjoy your break away.
Liberty enjoy your lunch.,

I hope all poorlies feel a bit better today. 🌱

Marydoll sending best wishes to your family as your DDIL has another set back but keeping everything crossed they can treat her infection quickly. Such a worry for you all.
Thoughts to all those suffering pain, illness and worry 💐

Good morning from misty Leicestershire. I am late this morning and just woken up maybe because the heating didn’t come on!

Yesterday turned out better than expected. Apparently the battery on the car is faulty so should get a new one under warranty and when Ocado delivered the milk had burst over much of it. Although it was salvageable I was allowed to keep it but the driver refunded the damp items including the steak.

I will now drink my green tea and read your posts.
Wishing everyone the best day possible.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 19-Feb-26 08:31:13

Marydoll your poor DiL is really having the most horrendous time, hope they find the source of infection and it responds well to treatment 🙏🏻

I sympathise with you and your hard of hearing DH, I have kne of those 🤦‍♀️

BlueSapphire Thu 19-Feb-26 08:27:38

Good morning everyone from another dull, damp and dreary Northampton day. Was similar yesterday but with a bitter wind.

I have a friend coming for coffee this morning, so I set to yesterday and made a batch of Mary Berry's recipe scones which are looking delicious. I shall warm some up when she gets here; no cream, but I do have a new pot of strawberry jam so it will be butter and jam!

After lunch I will be making a large vat of moussaka, which I have had a yearning for. Should be plenty of leftovers to freeze.

Wishing all a pleasant Thursday.

monk08 Thu 19-Feb-26 08:10:21

Good morning all from the Black country where the rain has ceased at the moment.
Pantglas enjoy your break.
NannyJan have a nice day out.
Marydoll sorry to hear of your DiLs setback.
Housework today and a little more decluttering I took another bag yesterday to the charity shop but its neverending.
Over the club this evening.
Safe travels those on the move, best wishes for anyone celebrating and virtual hugs where needed.
Have the best day you can ☀️

Grandmabatty Thu 19-Feb-26 08:06:03

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 2° and dry. It's very grey and still. Pantglas have a lovely time. Marydoll your poor dil is having a difficult time.
Yesterday I achieved every thing I set out to. I was in the retail park early. I picked up a Hobby craft gift card then headed to M&S for flowers for my friends as a wee surprise. Up to the school for a quick tidy round the shelves then home where I emptied and loaded the dishwasher and hoovered before going to meet my friends for lunch. We had a lovely time. The food was good too.
Today I'll probably head back to the retail park to get presents for dgs1 whose birthday is on Sunday. Thereafter I will potter around the house and do a washing. Dd will nip in later for my kitchen aid to make a football themed birthday cake for the birthday boy. I can't believe he will be 7 already. Hes growing into a fine boy.
Have a good day all.

Good morning from a chilly W Kent. Thursday art group today followed by a visit from DD2 later
Yesterday’s art group takes place in a local garden centre which was really busy but we recruited a new member who stopped to chat and has signed up.
Best wishes to all who are not feeling so good and those who have had a rough night.

Liberty Thu 19-Feb-26 07:54:39

Good morning from a damp Suffolk where, judging by the amount of puddles on the drive, there has been a considerable amount of rain overnight. Thankfully, for those on holiday around here for the half term holiday,we’ve just had 2 dry if very chilly days.

I have my stretch class at 9.30 and then I’m meeting 3 friends for lunch at a pub overlooking the beach on the outskirts of Lowestoft. We moved from London 42 years ago and used to visit the same pub with the children when they were little. Luckily it had a covered patio where we could take them for lunch as it was away from the bar.

It has always flourished, even with a few changes of management. Given its location, overlooking the beach it would have to try hard not to.

I’m sorry to read of continuing ill health and other worries for those afflicted. I hope today is an easier day for those and a good day for all.

ginny Thu 19-Feb-26 07:54:15

Good morning. It is damp here in N. Bucks and no doubt more rain later.
Art class this morning but no sewing club this afternoon as it is half term. I shall probably get on with the quilt we are doing.
Wishing all a good day with a smile along the way.

brook2704 Thu 19-Feb-26 07:52:21

Good morning everyone from Inverness where the snow has almost gone now and it’s due to warm up a bit over the coming days
Have a lovely holiday Pantglas 😎
No gym, volunteering or appointments today so we can just go for a wander somewhere and enjoy a coffee and treat out. I don’t think we’ll be gardening yet as it’s still a bit too cold and the ground is still frozen
Hoping your DiL gets home soon marydoll what an awful time for her and all the family
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Gagagran Thu 19-Feb-26 07:42:31

Good Morning everyone from the south coast. We have a sullen sky but no rain - yet. It was really cold yesterday with an east wind and I could not get warm all day. Think it is set to warm up now with a pleasant weekend promised.

I felt very under par all day, so much so that I could not summon up the energy to go to choir. The church we meet in is always chilly and so I sent apologies and felt relieved that I did not have to venture out in the heavy rain and cold.

Slept well and I was in the kitchen by 6.30am, putting a crockpot meal in before I even had a cup of tea, so feeling quite virtuous now!

Kind thoughts to all who are struggling with worries, pain or sadness. May today bring some ease and calm.

cornergran Thu 19-Feb-26 07:32:22

Morning Mick, morning All. Rain on the window, forecast promises drier later, I’ll believe it when I see it. Our corner of Somerset is saturated now.

Some better news from my goddaughter in that she’s secured a neurology consultant appointment for her mum. Chores accomplished so a tick the box there. Wandered a garden centre, found a small gift in readiness for Mr C’s birthday next week then was soaked in very cold rain.

Plumber due late morning to fix our shower 🤞. My challenge of the day is to bake a rich fruit cake, a recent request from Mr C, can’t recall the last time I baked anything, with luck I’ll remember how!

Enjoy a well deserved break pantglas. Envious? Me? Just a bit.

Best wishes to all. Have the best day you can everyone.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 19-Feb-26 07:31:26

Good morning from a wet, grey and cold S E Essex.

Nothing planned for today, I am desperate for some sunshine and warmth, how lucky you are pantglass enjoy Hurghada 🌞

Thinking of our poorly morning friends 🙋‍♀️

Marydoll Thu 19-Feb-26 07:24:25

Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is 2°C.

We have Babydoll, I have no idea how I will get through the day, yesterday's day out has left me exhausted. So much so, that there will be no pancakes for breakfast this morning.

I conscripted DH yesterday into helping me set up for 8am Mass and distribution of ashes. I arrived at 7am, to find the church in total darkness, but the doors were unlocked. They had been unlocked all night. 😱
It was pitch black and my torch had given up the ghost. DH and I were hanging onto each other, for fear of falling.
Much to my surprise, the young curate was glad, I was there, otherwise Mass would have been late starting.
The church was almost full, as were the other two Masses. It is so heartening to see our parish coming back to life.

It was bitterly cold yesterday in town, so much so, that I coughed non stop. However I did get to Primark and TKMaxx, it's amazing what will power can do.
I picked up a navy velvet jacket, exactly the same as a wine coloured one, one, I picked up in TKMAXX, a few months ago. I planb to wear it with my velvet dress at our Ladies Spring Fling on Sunday.

Our lunch with DS and DIL was delicious. However, I have to be careful, what I eat nowadays.
I can recommend Midsomer Murders if it comes to a theatre near you.
The acting was excellent and the set ingenious.. Some of the actors played multiple parts, which I didn't realise, until we got home.
The actors, who played the Rainbirds, were exceptionally good.
However, as usual, I had overdone things and crawled into bed, waking up at 3am, realising rhe downstairs lights were still on, the alarm not set and the chicken cooling in the kitchen.
I had meant to go back down, but, I fell asleep.

Not so good news about DIL. She hoped to get home tomorrow, but her wound won't heal properly and looks as if it is infected. Swabs gave been taken, to see what is going on.
That will be four weeks in
We are all so disappointed. 😔

Enjoy your break Pants.
I was upset to hear about your daughter Gingster, what adifficult time for you all.
Harrigan, I hope your stomach settles. Those night time episodes alway seem worse than the daytime ones.
I am off this morning to pick up medication for my diverticulitis, it is giving me gyp. Probably due to everything that is going on.
Have a pleasant day, folks.

PS, DH has just fallen out with me. He denies, we agreed yesterday that we would go to the pharmacy and then take Babydoll to the cafe,
His increased deafness is causing so many problems. DS realised yeaterday how bad it is and is going to try and talk to him.
Good luck with that!

He fell on the stairs at the theatre yesterday, because he did not hear us warning him to wait, because it was too crowded.
It is going to be a difficult day. 😉

Redcar Thu 19-Feb-26 07:19:42

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s raining and chilly, but the rain is supposed to ease off later to leave us with a dry, cloudy day.
Yesterday stayed dry until after dark, so I had a chilly walk in the morning. Too cold for the dog walkers to be sitting around chatting, so it was a quicker than usual walk.
I finished the ironing and had a quick tidy as some of my godmother’s friends brought me two boxes of things from the bungalow. Some old photos which stirred up memories, which weren’t always happy ones unfortunately.
Today I need to walk to the post office, and then clean my bedroom.
nannyjan enjoy your day out today.

pantglas I hope you have a lovely break in Hurghada and that there are no crises at home in your absence.

greyduster I hope your car passes it’s MOT today. No matter what time I decide to eat my dinner, my lovely DD1 always rings just as I sit down and take a mouthful! I’m grateful that she rings me, so don’t mind the cold or dried out food!

Thinking of all those in difficult situations, and hoping life is kinder to you today.

Have the best day you can everyone.

hollysteers Thu 19-Feb-26 07:14:56

Good morning from a damp northwest coast. It was all medical yesterday. Annual MOT with nurse in the morning where they gave me an appointment with a doctor in the afternoon for my stiff neck which is worsening. Bloods taken and blood pressure high so must monitor it.

Saw doc in the afternoon and will have physio at the hospital. Plus ibuprofen gel and painkillers. It’s real getting me down. Pain up the side of my head and shoulder too.

I’m due to go into the city to meet a friend for an exhibition he has booked. time slot for. Don’t feel up to it but hate to let him down, so will struggle in.
DD leaves for the south today.
Thoughts to all🌺

WhiteSwan63 Thu 19-Feb-26 07:08:26

Good morning from the East Coast and it’s raining.

Yesterday my gardening went well. The garden bin is 3/4 full to go out today. I cut alot down and took out old geraniums etc. I’ll have another go before it goes out again in two weeks.

This morning I have GS again and could do without it raining so we can do his usual routine. I will make his favourite cake as is usual on a Thursday. I’d like to think he’ll help you never know. DSs partner will pick him up about half past twelve.

This evening we are picking up a takeaway to take to DH family to discuss going to London in April to see Abba voyage and make and book other events while we are there. It will have to be an early night though as I have a very early start tomorrow morning.

My DS and his family in China are enjoying their Chinese new year at DDILs family home. A huge event and we would love to join them one year. Her family are quite important in their small town and that’s the house people gravitate too. We were supposed to go this year but DDIL we would be bored there and that’s why we are going April instead.

Wishing all travellers a safe journey.
Enjoy a day with moments of joy if you can. 🌼
