Good morning Mick and all who follow from a dark and damp north 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 where I’m exited, fit to burst..💥

My General Factotum here at PG Towers (oh readers he loves a title 😂) has excelled himself by going above and beyond his job description by adding employer care and concern to his duties!

He checked with my Dad that no appointments were due for the next 5 days and has booked a restorative break in Hurghada and is happy to accompany me, chauffeuring, fetching and carrying 🧳 etc

My bag is packed and we’re off to airport later, back late Monday night so 🌞🍹will be my belated Valentine treat 🤗. My brothers have agreed to pop in on Dad and he informed me “I can always message you if I need anything…”🤯

Hope everyone has something good happen today, especially those with worries 💐 too many to mention individually but know that includes ones who aren’t posting regularly xx

Good morning, damp and chilly here in south Glos, nothing changes it seems….
Lucky you Pantglas, I hope you have a lovely time away!
I had two zoom art sessions yesterday, very enjoyable playing with textures, using gesso and getting messy.
I have a nurse appointment today for bloods, I need to take a return to the post office while I’m in the village.
Housework and cleaning this morning, very unexciting!
Best wishes to you all 🌹

Good morning from a dry NE where the wind seems to have eased too.
SIL travelled back to Brussels yesterday. Next visit to UK will be Easter when DD will have a long weekend.
Have been awake for a few hours with stomach pains, going to be tired today.
Sister and BIL are visiting this afternoon.
Happy holiday Pantglas

Good morning from a damp and chilly Torbay, made colder by the wind.

In answer to Bellasnana’s question yesterday, DH will be back in a month's time. He reached home safely mid-evening and all was well. Today he will collect the cat from the cattery. Thank you for the good wishes.

Have a lovely break, Pantglas! I will look up where you’re going as I haven’t heard of it.

I hope your stomach pain soon eases, harrigran; it’s horrid when precious sleep is interrupted.

My cleaner is due today so I will aim to be out!

Have as good a day as you possibly can. 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩

Good morning from Bristol. It’s not raining atm!
How lovely for you, pant, enjoy your little holiday away from worries. madeleine, I hope you are in less pain and in a better frame of mind today.
My pancakes were well received yesterday, most of the 20 attendees had at least 2, some more.
The ladies guild talk was by a pantomime dame. I’m afraid that I really don’t find it funny at all, not part of my upbringing (all French) and definitely not my type of humour. But it was good to support the group and chat to one or two of the ladies.
The ashing in the evening was in the side chapel, not especially warm as there is still no heating. When signed , the vicar used oil instead of water to make a paste and gave us all a very black cross on the forehead. The mixture went into my every tiny little wrinkle making my forehead look like cheesecloth! 😆
It was very cold, wet and windy all day, more so on my return journey (on foot).
I was very tired, which is why I’m later than usual this morning.
Not much today, very quiet being half term.
Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning from Malta where a sunny day is forecast with a high of 18°C.

I walked up to the village yesterday and was too hot in the sun. It’s colder inside than out so I often make the mistake of having warmer clothes on than I need.

Got home and found a letter from the bank which I don’t understand so tried in vain to phone and actually speak to a human. I will have to walk up to the bank today and ask them to explain it to me.

The boys came after school which was lovely and I enjoyed their company while DD3 went to sleep on the sofa!😄

I had settled down to watch the tennis later when DD2 FaceTimed from the US. We had a long chat, my children are more important than anything, even Alcaraz playing tennis!I did catch the end of the match.

How lovely Pantglas, you certainly struck gold when you employed your GF! Hope you have a lovely week.✈️

Sorry you have been in pain overnight harrigran. Maybe try and have a nap before your visitors arrive.💐

Wishing you all a good day.🤗

Good morning Mick and all GN's on another very dark and chilly morning in North Yorkshire. Have an early meeting this morning so trying to get going but creaking and have taken a painkiller in the hopes that I can improve my speed. Have bits to find yet and need to check my list so that I dont forget something important.

Yesterday I got the yellow peril out and it begrudgingly started but improved. Needed all cold weather gear on, as the temperature was not much worse than the day before but my the wind chill factor was bitter. It therefore ended up about normal traffic in the town, as more children around with the half term but so cold that less than normal amount of people about, and those that were out were moving with purpose and no lingering.

I had a reasonably successful trip, going to the bank and other places and treating myself to some lovely young rhubarb from the market that will provide tonights sweet to enjoy later today. I was glad to get home safely and sort out the shopping, do a few other jobs and then went off to whist last night. Even though I went early there was a job to park and it was a busy night with extra people there despite the cold. so it is good to see its popularity increasing. A very pleasant evening but no winning of any prizes and was very weary when I got home.

Today I have made a note to find my passport and check how long it has to run, and then I am going to find out the sort of prices for insurance as now I am 80 the price becomes ludicrous and I need to see what my options are , as a friend who is also 80 now was telling me that she had seen a possible holiday but on enquiring about the insurance cost , it was nearly as much as the holiday, so I might be holidaying nearer to home in the future!

As I say off early this morning and then home and fingers crossed that my cleaner comes as planned this afternoon. due to her not being able to come last week the jobs that I need help with are mounting up, and the group of things that need opening whether lids on beetroot, or the wretched disinfectant lid that I just cannot both twist and press down on at the same time are defeating me at the moment.

Hope that you get to see some good cycling Mick. Pantglas hope that you have a lovely trip and well done to your DH for organising it all. Harrigran hope you are feeling a bit better now. Wishing all GNs a good day and shall come back later to read some more posts

Good morning from a dark and damp Black Country.

Today I am off on a day trip to Kew then Oxford with my friend. She rang Tuesday to ask if I was free, as the friend she had booked the trip with couldn't go. So totally unexpected day out today.

MrJ is going down to Bristol to help one of his daughters move back to the Midlands, she requested a transfer and will stay with her Mum for a while, till she sorts out somewhere to live. So he will be staying there overnight, and accompany her and the Van to her Mums tomorrow.

Enjoy your trip Pantglas, I too have never heard of it, so off to google later!

Wishing you all the best day possible.

Good morning from Sheffield

I am contemplating going for an early morning walk if I can prise myself out of bed
After two nights on the trot of socialising I could do with a quiet day but I have two grandsons 9 and 6 today as it’s half term.
We are taking them to the cinema this afternoon. At least it will be a sit down for me.

A quiet teatime as well. Their daddy will pick them up so there is only him for tea. Their mummy and our other son who normally comes for tea are away in Cornwall this week so that at least is easier.

Take care everyone flowers

Greyduster Thu 19-Feb-26 06:36:09

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. It is chucking it down here and has been for most of the night. Writer’s group at the library yesterday was very productive though, it being half term, our numbers were somewhat depleted.

DS rang for a chat last evening just as I was putting my tea on the table. He always manages to do that but it was good to hear from him.

Today I have to get my car to the garage for its MOT and service. Said garage is not close to home unfortunately. I would usually walk on Thursday morning but it is far too wet today so my only option is to hole up at DD’s and wait it out. No idea how long it will take and fingers crossed it passes its MOT. It’s only four years old so if it needs work I’ll be surprised but of course one never knows.

Have the best day you can, folks.

Marzipan22 Thu 19-Feb-26 06:42:12

Good morning from a dark, rainy, quiet Cornwall.

My granddaughter came for the day yesterday and we had a sweet, relaxed time. She made a pretend boba tea from knitting yarn and beads. 😂 A goldcrest whizzed across my patio. Smaller even than my resident wrens and Google says they weigh the same as six paperclips. You learn something every day. I have a white toadstool growing between the steps to my downstairs workroom. How on earth it got there I can't imagine, and I can't identify it even from my 600-page fungi book. I took a spore print but was still none the wiser. Still, I like the magical way these things appear and just as quickly vanish.

Unexpectedly my son turned up with his son plus her brother as he was looking after him for the day. Chaos and noise ensued and a vase of daffodils went flying but nothing was broken. My 16-year-old grandson went into my art room to get away from the racket. 😁

I finally found a pair of olive green leather ankle boots in our independent shoe shop, reduced from £80 to £28. It feels like I'm walking on air. Today I'm off to my favourite library which I've neglected a bit recently due to my seized-up jaw which is still not easing.

GillyMo Thu 19-Feb-26 06:51:12

Good morning from Kent where it is dry and five degrees.

Yesterday I cleared the old foliage from the heuchera. I also removed the last of the brussel sprouts, pulling them out by the stalks. The ground is so muddy that things are coming out fairly.

Today I am going to concentrate on the ribbing for my slipover I'm knitting.

Have a peaceful day all.

baubles Thu 19-Feb-26 06:57:43

Good morning from dark South Lanarkshire, where it’s chilly but dry.

Enjoy your weekend Pant.

The living room is in uproar but the painting is almost finished and I’m pleased with the colour. The tidying up will have to wait until Friday as we’re off to Edinburgh today to childminding

Have the best day possible everyone.

WhiteSwan63 Thu 19-Feb-26 07:08:26

Good morning from the East Coast and it’s raining.

Yesterday my gardening went well. The garden bin is 3/4 full to go out today. I cut alot down and took out old geraniums etc. I’ll have another go before it goes out again in two weeks.

This morning I have GS again and could do without it raining so we can do his usual routine. I will make his favourite cake as is usual on a Thursday. I’d like to think he’ll help you never know. DSs partner will pick him up about half past twelve.

This evening we are picking up a takeaway to take to DH family to discuss going to London in April to see Abba voyage and make and book other events while we are there. It will have to be an early night though as I have a very early start tomorrow morning.

My DS and his family in China are enjoying their Chinese new year at DDILs family home. A huge event and we would love to join them one year. Her family are quite important in their small town and that’s the house people gravitate too. We were supposed to go this year but DDIL we would be bored there and that’s why we are going April instead.

Wishing all travellers a safe journey.
Enjoy a day with moments of joy if you can. 🌼

hollysteers Thu 19-Feb-26 07:14:56

Good morning from a damp northwest coast. It was all medical yesterday. Annual MOT with nurse in the morning where they gave me an appointment with a doctor in the afternoon for my stiff neck which is worsening. Bloods taken and blood pressure high so must monitor it.

Saw doc in the afternoon and will have physio at the hospital. Plus ibuprofen gel and painkillers. It’s real getting me down. Pain up the side of my head and shoulder too.

I’m due to go into the city to meet a friend for an exhibition he has booked. time slot for. Don’t feel up to it but hate to let him down, so will struggle in.
DD leaves for the south today.
Thoughts to all🌺

Redcar Thu 19-Feb-26 07:19:42

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s raining and chilly, but the rain is supposed to ease off later to leave us with a dry, cloudy day.
Yesterday stayed dry until after dark, so I had a chilly walk in the morning. Too cold for the dog walkers to be sitting around chatting, so it was a quicker than usual walk.
I finished the ironing and had a quick tidy as some of my godmother’s friends brought me two boxes of things from the bungalow. Some old photos which stirred up memories, which weren’t always happy ones unfortunately.
Today I need to walk to the post office, and then clean my bedroom.
nannyjan enjoy your day out today.

pantglas I hope you have a lovely break in Hurghada and that there are no crises at home in your absence.

greyduster I hope your car passes it’s MOT today. No matter what time I decide to eat my dinner, my lovely DD1 always rings just as I sit down and take a mouthful! I’m grateful that she rings me, so don’t mind the cold or dried out food!

Thinking of all those in difficult situations, and hoping life is kinder to you today.

Have the best day you can everyone.

Marydoll Thu 19-Feb-26 07:24:25

Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is 2°C.

We have Babydoll, I have no idea how I will get through the day, yesterday's day out has left me exhausted. So much so, that there will be no pancakes for breakfast this morning.

I conscripted DH yesterday into helping me set up for 8am Mass and distribution of ashes. I arrived at 7am, to find the church in total darkness, but the doors were unlocked. They had been unlocked all night. 😱
It was pitch black and my torch had given up the ghost. DH and I were hanging onto each other, for fear of falling.
Much to my surprise, the young curate was glad, I was there, otherwise Mass would have been late starting.
The church was almost full, as were the other two Masses. It is so heartening to see our parish coming back to life.

It was bitterly cold yesterday in town, so much so, that I coughed non stop. However I did get to Primark and TKMaxx, it's amazing what will power can do.
I picked up a navy velvet jacket, exactly the same as a wine coloured one, one, I picked up in TKMAXX, a few months ago. I planb to wear it with my velvet dress at our Ladies Spring Fling on Sunday.

Our lunch with DS and DIL was delicious. However, I have to be careful, what I eat nowadays.
I can recommend Midsomer Murders if it comes to a theatre near you.
The acting was excellent and the set ingenious.. Some of the actors played multiple parts, which I didn't realise, until we got home.
The actors, who played the Rainbirds, were exceptionally good.
However, as usual, I had overdone things and crawled into bed, waking up at 3am, realising rhe downstairs lights were still on, the alarm not set and the chicken cooling in the kitchen.
I had meant to go back down, but, I fell asleep.

Not so good news about DIL. She hoped to get home tomorrow, but her wound won't heal properly and looks as if it is infected. Swabs gave been taken, to see what is going on.
That will be four weeks in
We are all so disappointed. 😔

Enjoy your break Pants.
I was upset to hear about your daughter Gingster, what adifficult time for you all.
Harrigan, I hope your stomach settles. Those night time episodes alway seem worse than the daytime ones.
I am off this morning to pick up medication for my diverticulitis, it is giving me gyp. Probably due to everything that is going on.
Have a pleasant day, folks.

PS, DH has just fallen out with me. He denies, we agreed yesterday that we would go to the pharmacy and then take Babydoll to the cafe,
His increased deafness is causing so many problems. DS realised yeaterday how bad it is and is going to try and talk to him.
Good luck with that!

He fell on the stairs at the theatre yesterday, because he did not hear us warning him to wait, because it was too crowded.
It is going to be a difficult day. 😉

GrannyGravy13 Thu 19-Feb-26 07:31:26

Good morning from a wet, grey and cold S E Essex.

Nothing planned for today, I am desperate for some sunshine and warmth, how lucky you are pantglass enjoy Hurghada 🌞

Thinking of our poorly morning friends 🙋‍♀️

cornergran Thu 19-Feb-26 07:32:22

Morning Mick, morning All. Rain on the window, forecast promises drier later, I’ll believe it when I see it. Our corner of Somerset is saturated now.

Some better news from my goddaughter in that she’s secured a neurology consultant appointment for her mum. Chores accomplished so a tick the box there. Wandered a garden centre, found a small gift in readiness for Mr C’s birthday next week then was soaked in very cold rain.

Plumber due late morning to fix our shower 🤞. My challenge of the day is to bake a rich fruit cake, a recent request from Mr C, can’t recall the last time I baked anything, with luck I’ll remember how!

Enjoy a well deserved break pantglas. Envious? Me? Just a bit.

Best wishes to all. Have the best day you can everyone.

Gagagran Thu 19-Feb-26 07:42:31

Good Morning everyone from the south coast. We have a sullen sky but no rain - yet. It was really cold yesterday with an east wind and I could not get warm all day. Think it is set to warm up now with a pleasant weekend promised.

I felt very under par all day, so much so that I could not summon up the energy to go to choir. The church we meet in is always chilly and so I sent apologies and felt relieved that I did not have to venture out in the heavy rain and cold.

Slept well and I was in the kitchen by 6.30am, putting a crockpot meal in before I even had a cup of tea, so feeling quite virtuous now!

Kind thoughts to all who are struggling with worries, pain or sadness. May today bring some ease and calm.

brook2704 Thu 19-Feb-26 07:52:21

Good morning everyone from Inverness where the snow has almost gone now and it’s due to warm up a bit over the coming days
Have a lovely holiday Pantglas 😎
No gym, volunteering or appointments today so we can just go for a wander somewhere and enjoy a coffee and treat out. I don’t think we’ll be gardening yet as it’s still a bit too cold and the ground is still frozen
Hoping your DiL gets home soon marydoll what an awful time for her and all the family
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

ginny Thu 19-Feb-26 07:54:15

Good morning. It is damp here in N. Bucks and no doubt more rain later.
Art class this morning but no sewing club this afternoon as it is half term. I shall probably get on with the quilt we are doing.
Wishing all a good day with a smile along the way.

Liberty Thu 19-Feb-26 07:54:39

Good morning from a damp Suffolk where, judging by the amount of puddles on the drive, there has been a considerable amount of rain overnight. Thankfully, for those on holiday around here for the half term holiday,we’ve just had 2 dry if very chilly days.

I have my stretch class at 9.30 and then I’m meeting 3 friends for lunch at a pub overlooking the beach on the outskirts of Lowestoft. We moved from London 42 years ago and used to visit the same pub with the children when they were little. Luckily it had a covered patio where we could take them for lunch as it was away from the bar.

It has always flourished, even with a few changes of management. Given its location, overlooking the beach it would have to try hard not to.

I’m sorry to read of continuing ill health and other worries for those afflicted. I hope today is an easier day for those and a good day for all.

luluaugust Thu 19-Feb-26 07:56:13

Good morning from a chilly W Kent. Thursday art group today followed by a visit from DD2 later
Yesterday’s art group takes place in a local garden centre which was really busy but we recruited a new member who stopped to chat and has signed up.
Best wishes to all who are not feeling so good and those who have had a rough night.
