Good morning, nearly afternoon, from the west midlands.
It's been one of those faffing mornings today! A lot of messing about & very little achieved.
It's still cold here and I'm still dressed like Worsel Gummage, strangely it's not doing much for MrIlovedogs judging by the way he keeps looking at me. Best wishes to all you Gran's & thinking of those who are struggling at the moment. 🐝

Good morning everyone from rainy Lancashire.

It’s been a trying week for me but things seem to be on the up again. MrB and I have had an enjoyable walk despite the persistent drizzle. Spotted some green hellebores growing beside the woodland path, lovely to see some signs of spring.

Thinking of all who are struggling with life at the moment.

Wishing you all a good day, whatever you’re doing.

Good Morning from a dryish Co Armagh
Overslept this morning after a lovely day visiting my cousin , she kept looking at me , I think it was my different accent , it was lovely to see her awake ,
Her sister in law was there too , so there was plenty of chat Caught up, sprinkled with sadder moment when we remembered those missing , all the news was dissected , plans discussed as to when we will visit again
Today grocery shopping this afternoon is the plan , and maybe another early night
Wishing some sunshine for those struggling

Good morning from Sheffield

We had fun and games in the cinema car park yesterday with the two grandsons.
For some reason the rear seatbelt wouldn’t click into the end. It had worked perfectly going to the cinema so we had to jiggle the seats about.
Good job it’s got three seatbelts in the back so DH is off sorting that out this morning while I am working.
Hopefully it can be done with little cost but as usual with car things I don’t hold much hope out
Take care everyoneflowers

Good morning everyone from a slightly brighter day in Northampton, but showers are forecast; getting really fed up with this weather.

Had a very pleasant couple of hours yesterday morning when my friend came for coffee; she was delighted to be offered home-made.scones! There are now 6 left; I have kept a couple back and put the rest in the freezer.

After she left I set to and made a large moussaka; it seemed to work ok in the slow cooker, and I enjoyed a delicious portion for dinner. I will have some more tonight and will put three more meals into the freezer. I used the Hairy Dieters' recipe with a few tweaks here and there.

No dance today as it is half term, so I have an empty; I could go to the shops but would prefer to do that tomorrow. I could do some housework, but would prefer not! I may order my medication a week or two early to see me.through my holiday, otherwise I shall run out while I am away. I will read the newspaper, tackle the puzzles and the crosswords then read and/or knit after lunch. I intend to listen to this week's Choral Evensong on BBC Sounds while I do so; I forgot about it on Wednesday. #@lazygran

I am debating whether or not to continue with The Bell Jar as it is getting most depressing.

Welcome to our new goodmorningers.
Wishing all a pleasant Friday.

This endless February is at least more than half way through but I have joined the not-quite-ill brigade and am coughing and husking my way through life. Will brave the oldies’ coffee morning but may not go to bridge if I don’t feel more like myself. So sorry so many of us are struggling and hope for the return of the sun at some point soon, though the weather forecast suggests not in the next week.

harrigran Fri 20-Feb-26 09:09:03

Good morning from a dry NE but with a forecast of rain later.
Yesterday I just pottered doing light housework.
Sister and BIL visited and we chatted for a couple of hours.
Today I am going out for lunch with my friend, we are trying a new Italian restaurant within a food and drink complex. I probably won't have alcohol as it is not good for me at present.
I feel for you Marydoll, doing childcare while unwell is hard work.

GrannyIvy Fri 20-Feb-26 09:07:23

Good morning from a cold but bright Cambridgeshire morning.

I am sad to read of so many of you on the thread are struggling and don’t want to miss anyone out so sending my love and best wishes to all 💐

I plan to walk into town this morning which is about 1.5 miles and meet a friend for lunch and maybe walk back or maybe ask DH to pick me up depending on weather really and what I buy in town.

It’s been a difficult week with various family issues but some good things as well in the mix. Roll on Spring and lighter days and warmer weather

Grammaretto Fri 20-Feb-26 08:58:27

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where it's raining.

I'm taking the day off volunteering to go into Edinburgh with U3A.

I am tired but only from dancing last night.

Ofcourse Babydoll would rather stay with you Marydoll 😀 it sounds fun.

I hope you are not too exhausted. Sorry Madeleine is below par too

Best wishes to all especially those who are sad and lonely.

Good morning all from grey and wet South Lanarkshire.

Nice to see you Karma.

Roses I’m sorry for your health troubles. thanks

I feel for your DiL Marydoll.

It was DS’s day off yesterday and we were looking forward to spending the day with him and the children but he was struggling mentally and physically too with a horrible cough so he stayed at home while we took the children out after lunch.

It was a bright, cold, still day but they were well wrapped up and spent a happy couple of hours on the beach with our daft dug. Lots of running away from the incoming tide and digging channels in the sand kept them happy. We then shared bags of piping hot chips sitting on the sea wall on the promenade followed by half an hour in the play park before taking them back home.

The middle child then had a swimming lesson so DH ran her and her Mum to the pool and watched with her.

Today the car is being picked up for servicing and will be brought back later.

We will put the newly painted living room back together after DH has removed all the tape.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Good morning from a damp northwest coast. Nice day in the city yesterday and neck pain easing with ibuprofen gel and painkillers.
Saw a good Turner exhibition with friend and fell into a long conversation with a couple who happen to live not far from me. I bought a print of one of my favourite paintings in the gallery, a seascape by Courbet. I have loved the painting for years.

We then had a meal at an Italian, sea bass for me, good, but a small portion.
Off soon to the art group. DD left for the south yesterday, so I will have a tidy up and change sheets when I come back.

Thoughts to FGTs Gingers DD, hello again karma and thoughts to all🌺

glammagran Fri 20-Feb-26 08:38:04

Good morning from a fair Wiltshire. I’ve been having a succession of bad nights but the. I’ve been an insomniac for my entire life including childhood.

Our day with the youngest GCs didn’t go too badly. They ate reasonably well in Ask until GD3 fell off her chair taking the chair with her. She was fine apart from her pride. We watched them at their swimming lesson later. GS2 swam a width without armbands for the first time. Watch out GS1!

Collected my new contact lenses from Specsavers yesterday.

I’m so sorry your DiL suffered a relapse MD. I hope she is home soon. I hope your tooth after treatment is improving Georgesgran. You should get your DH to help you more RandL. It sounds like you do an awful lot especially if you are having heart issues.

Have a good Friday everyone.

dragonfly46 Fri 20-Feb-26 08:37:29

Good morning from a damp Leicestershire.

Not sure whether to go to the butchers or Sainsburys - such indecision!
I love Fridays but don’t know why - I haven’t worked for years.

Wishing everyone, especially those who are suffering at the moment, the best day possible.

ginny Fri 20-Feb-26 08:30:10

Good morning everyone.
Nothing definite today so I will see how things go. I’ll be happy continuing with the painting I started at my art class yesterday
We are out to dinner with friends this evening at a local Indian restaurant.
Wishing all a good day .

Marydoll Fri 20-Feb-26 08:21:23

Good morning all, just lost my riveting post and I haven't the energy to write it again.
I am exhausted after a day with the non stop Duracell bunny.^.💐

Roses, I can empathise. Take care

Lovely to see you posting, Karma.

We went to see a very tearful DIL last night. She will not be discharged until Monday at the earliest. I wept with her.
DS, is not coping well, due to managing his job and everything else. We are all treading on eggshells and DIL, is experiencing some of his moods.
I understand the tremendous pressure he has been under, but it is not DIL's fault, that she is o unwell. I am so angry with him. 😔

We have Babydoll overnight tonight, this is the first time, that she has stayed over. She is so excited at sleeping in Dollie's room. I am not. I am literally on my knees with tireness, but DIL's family, who all live within walking distance, are at a fundraising event and cannot help.

I wish you all a pleasant day,
Best wishes to all the mountaineers, myself included.I 😉

Morning from a dry S Hants, welcome to the new morningers.
Deliveries today, yesterday was a new mattress for the spare double bed, MrJ hauled it into position.
My son said he’d call in this morning, he works shifts and MrJ will venture out tonight for a pub catch up.
Have a pleasant day if you can

Morning everyone. It’s dull and damp here (in my corner of West Lothian) today but when I opened the door to let the cat in, it felt milder.

Yesterday was a busy (and quite stressful) day involving an early start and a long drive to visit one of my clients (after semi retiring I kept a small collection of clients that I still advise). Part of what I did involved doing a training session for their employees. This always makes me anxious but fortunately they were a nice bunch and it went well. I left home particularly early after a nightmare journey the last time I drove round the Edinburgh City Bypass but this time, the journey went smoothly and I was there 50 minutes early!! Sod’s Law but much less stressful than the alternative. I bought a takeaway coffee and a Florentine in a little bakery and enjoyed that in the car while I waited.
A quiet day today. I need to return the projector I borrowed to do the training and I’ve a chiropractor’s appointment in the afternoon. DH is keen to go to the pub for a couple of drinks after that - it is Friday after all (his logic) 😂 so we’ll probably do that.

Have a lovely day everyone. Thinking of anyone that is struggling or has health issues or family worries.

P.S. madeleine on your ‘recommendation’ I’ve started listening to, and loving, Bach 😊

Ladyleftfieldlover Fri 20-Feb-26 08:11:11

Morning all from West Oxfordshire, there’s a chill in the air but no frost.

Welcome back Karma.

I sent in an engaged consult message yesterday with the latest toe photograph! I requested a face to face appointment but had a telephone consultation instead. The paramedic said he would prescribe some more antibiotics, which I’ll collect today, and I must bathe my foot in hot salty water. I did all this before and it seemed to do the trick. However, he said if in a fortnight it still wasn’t right, they would refer me to a podiatrist… but there was a long waiting list! Oh, I said, I would pay then. In the past the surgery dealt with eyes, ears, feet - but no longer. Sorry for the rant. I usually only have good things to say about the surgery.

We are meeting very old friends of OH for lunch today. ‘He’ isn’t well at all and seems to be going downhill fast. OH worked with him all over the world. Now, they talk on the phone weekly and we all meet for lunch every few weeks.

Have a good day.

Good morning from a calm and dry Suffolk. I’m off to London to spend the weekend with my 4 very dear old school friends. We have known one another since we were in the first form at the grammar school which will be 69 years in September. We are very special women to one another as we each knew parents, siblings and sometimes grandparents and wider family.

We have a table booked tomorrow evening for dinner at a lovely family run Italian restaurant close to the Premier Inn where we usually stay and tickets for the o stable and Turner exhibition at the Tate.

We are planning a special trip abroad in the autumn when the last of us has celebrated her 80th birthday and we continue to feel blessed by all of us being in reasonable good health and with our husbands still being with us( but not on our regular get togethers).

I hope those with health or other difficulties feel a little better and all have their best day possible.

Gingster Fri 20-Feb-26 08:04:45

Good morning.
Vets this morning for pooches 6 monthly checkup. I’ve already cancelled once, so must go.,
Hair dry cut at 11 and then DGD and I will hop on the bus to the hospital to see Dd. She’s still having tests. Scans, colonoscopy , bloods, thyroid , etc etc.

In the meantime will try to get DH’s URGENT appointment. I phoned the ‘special’ number yesterday but they couldn’t find him in the system 😤. ‘Wait a couple of days’ they said. ‘Bear with us,’ they said. ‘This is urgent’ I said. Yes , along with 5,000 others , they said. 🙄.

I hope you all have a good day.

Grandmabatty Fri 20-Feb-26 07:51:40

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 4° and pouring. Karma it's good to hear from you. Rosesandlilac I'm sorry to hear about your failing health. Madeleine 🎉 we are all entitled to off days.
Yesterday went well. I was at the retail park early and picked up computer games for dgs1s birthday. I then went to Hobbycraft for art supplies. Once home, I realised I had the wrong type of game so headed back to the retail park to exchange it. Fortunately the roads were quiet and it isn't too far away. Once that was sorted, I pottered about and did a washing. I filled up the screenwash in the car- a job i hate doing. Then I made beef stroganoff for dinner to use up stuff. Dd nipped in briefly to borrow my Kitchen aid and approved the birthday choices. I had a quiet evening watching tv.
Today my cold has returned and is very annoying. I also didn't sleep particularly well, so I'm a bit out of sorts. However, I'll go to the school library and tidy up there, then a quick trip to tesco for lego for dgs2. This afternoon I want to do a sketch for a pastel I'm thinking of doing. Dinner might be a fishcake and chips. Have a good day all.

HelterSkelter1 Fri 20-Feb-26 07:41:12

Madeleine45 your morning post sounds so unlike you. Don't forget you have only very recently had a nasty virus which take a while to recover from both physically and mentally.

Once your washing dries can you cut out washing clothes etc for a few days and allow yourself some slack. Is there a cleaning company locally to come and do a one off clean and tidy while your lovely cleaners are absent.
You always sound so positive and so helpful with your experience and advice. And so very active daily. Have a bit of a rest for the rest of Feb and then a re set like karmalady ready for March when Spring will spring.

Georgesgran Fri 20-Feb-26 07:37:46

Good Morning from a cold, grey Durham. Rain is forecast, but for me, it really doesn’t matter, being under voluntary house arrest, but I’m keeping in touch with friends and family by phone/text. 3 days to go!

Best wishes to all. X

67notout Fri 20-Feb-26 07:36:26

Good chilly morning from the West Sussex coast. Today the living room gets painted. It’s been a long time coming about 13 years! I’m disabled so I have paid and bribed people to pack the room up these last 3 days. It’s going to take another 3 days to decorate and then somehow it’s got to be put back together. No plans yet on how that’s going to happen but cross that bridge when I have to. I had a scan yesterday MRI one, my nemesis and found a skin cancer on my back. Today will be infinitely better.. and it’s my youngest’s 58th birthday and he’s coming for coffee and croissants before work. And my sister is coming with her husband who’s doing the decorating. Lots to look forward to

brook2704 Fri 20-Feb-26 07:33:05

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s slightly warmer at 4° but cloudy and grey
Hoping your health worries improve for you soon Rosesand lilac and you get the required treatment quickly
Yesterday we enjoyed a day out, we drove up north to a new lochside cafe that we’d not been to before, enjoyed coffee there and a walk around the loch. It was nice to try somewhere different for a change. Today I’ve a volunteering session this morning and then later I must do some admin and sorting through paperwork
Lovely to see you back here Karma
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐
