Good morning from Bristol. It’s not raining atm but is still very windy. It’s less chilly, except in the wind.
Yesterday was quiet, except for t’ai chi. We didn’t do any of the choreographed moves, just a series of exercises.
It always leaves me feeling very sleepy, so I had a nap after lunch.
I made a “green” soup, all green vegetables, except for sweetcorn. Delicious. Will last me a week.
Just a WI book group meeting in the next village. They don’t have a particular day or date, just when the bossiest lady says so. I find that rather disruptive and asked for a more regular day. Doubt whether I was even heard!
Hope all the mountaineers have a better day. Hugs to fgt as ever.

Good morning from a dark, drizzly but calm Cornwall.

Yesterday I was in the rain at a town which appeared on the BBC news because it's rained there for 60 consecutive days. After that I wandered lonely as a cloud via the top deck of a bus through countryside awash with daffodil fields, such a pretty sight. Thence to Hayle where I once lived right next to the dunes; happy memories of picking salty blackberries and sketching bellringers in the village church. Home via M&S where I spent £3.50. 😁

My new specs are featuring on an optician's advert at the bus stop. My son says I'm 'on trend'. That's a first. 🤣

This morning I'm at a church craft group and after that who knows, probably another bus jaunt.

Good morning from a dark, damp and dismal Black Country.

A really good day out yesterday on a coach trip with my friend, first to the Living Rain Forest, then onto Oxford for a couple of hours.

As we approached the Rain Forest (on some rather narrow back roads). There was a road closed sign! So we all had to walk for 15 minutes uphill to get there. Coach stayed there and then we all walked downhill back. I think there was one couple who stayed on the coach as the woman couldn't walk up the hill!

Lunch in Oxford and a hours wander. Could have done with more time in Oxford really, but no complaints.

Today I am meeting a walking group friend for coffee in our local park. MrJ will be home this afternoon after taking his DD to Bristol, then loading a 'man with a van' to move her 'stuff' to her Mums in Coventry.

Wishing you all the best day possible.

Ashcombe Fri 20-Feb-26 06:22:11

Good morning from a quiet and dry Torbay.

Yesterday, I had the car hand washed where there were so few customers that at one point all six guys were beavering away on my car! It looks so much better …. until the next rainy day! I popped into Asda for the few items not sold in Lidl and it was heaving! The effect of half term and a clothing sale where I picked up a jumper for DH and resisted the temptation of adding to my already bulging wardrobe. A coffee in the Dunelm café rounded off my excursion.

A day at home seems likely. I hope you all enjoy whatever you have planned. Thoughts with our absent contributors. 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

Good morning from the East Coast. A showery day is forecast though it’s warming up into next week.

Yesterday morning was good with GS. Even with the rain we managed to do the routine. The day before on Wednesday he had been to the hospital for a check up on his coeliac disease but they only managed to weigh and measure him before he melted down so DS had to take him home. He’s quite small for 11 I think. He apparently spent the rest of the day recovering from the ‘trauma’ of it bless him. He was rather quiet yesterday morning but was happy to go at lunch with DSs partner. I thanked her for loving my GS. She is a gift to our family. Most others would have run a mile seeing what DS has to deal with. But she has created a lovely home for DS and GS and is so kind.

I’m going to pick up GD1 soon but she will be easy today and good company though she’s full on and I will be tired tonight. We can potter around and I’ll take her for lunch somewhere. DD will take GD2 to nursery on her way to work at 7-30 and I’ll pick her up about 4. So another full day. I hate getting up to an alarm as I lay awake waiting for it to go off. 🤦 I’m just going to get some fruit toast and a cuppa then I’ll head off.

Hope our friends with family worries have an easier day today 💐
Have a lovely day if you can bringing sparks of joy 🌼

Good Morning everyone from a damp but slightly less cold south coast.

Woke at 5.15am and thought it was an hour later so got up and had ablutions, got dressed then realised I was an hour earlier than I had thought. Hey ho. We larks seem attuned to early mornings, whatever the clock says.

Tesco delivery this morning and the usual domestic chores. Nothing exciting planned but I do like my gentle, quiet, repetitive days. No doubt the media will still be slavering over the disgrace of Prince Andrew. I find it all very Madame Defarge-like even though I am totally unimpressed by his behaviour.

Kind thoughts of all strugglers with worries, pain or sadness. May the day bring some ease.

Good morning from Malta where a cloudy day is forecast with thundery showers and the blasted wind is back again!🤦🏼‍♀️

Yesterday was lovely and sunny so I enjoyed my walk up to the village where I was astonished to find nobody waiting at the bank ( there is usually a queue a mile long), so I was attended to immediately and my minor problem sorted out.

Took myself for a coffee and found the cafe also much quieter than usual.

There was an elderly gentleman sitting at a table and he was joined after some time by a lady with a small white dog who was ecstatic to see him! The little dog was so excited she ran up and down the cafe greeting each one of us, and that little dog’s joy at life really made my day.

I know some folk may not appreciate it but, fortunately, the other customers all seemed to be dog lovers and also enjoyed the moment.

I had planned to get up and clean my windows but as rain is forecast I shall leave them for tomorrow when we are supposed to be having better weather until the end of the month.

My usual hair appointment and then tennis later. Yesterday’s matches were very exciting and I enjoyed watching and wishing I was half as fit as these credible athletes.

Marzipan you ‘wandering lonely as a cloud’ reminds me of my mum who frequently quoted Wordsworth, amongst others!

Wishing you all a good day. I wish karma would return. I miss her daily posts.😞

Good Morning from a dry but still dark N Surrey. Goodness Feb 20th. How this month has flown by. This week has flown by.

I have 3 big worries on my shoulders, but our boiler was serviced yesterday with flying colours. Hooray. One less smaller worry can be crossed off the list,
I bought a lemon but didn't make pancakes on Tuesday. Maybe today I will.

I hope everyone has the best day possible.

Hello to Starie in Cyprus 🌞

cornergran Fri 20-Feb-26 06:47:12

Morning Mick, morning All from a damp, draughty corner of Somerset.

Our shower control was sorted yesterday, very happy until we spotted a small leak yesterday evening. I know the plumber will return and sort it but oh dear it dented the pleasure. The car is booked for its minor repair, the first space is at the end of next month which sort of cheered Mr C, as he said it’s not just me then.

Volunteering this morning after a message to the plumber. No idea about the afternoon, wait and see time.

Best wishes to everyone and a hope this Friday is kind to us all.

RosesandLilac Fri 20-Feb-26 06:50:42

Good morning, it’s actually looking almost dry outside at the moment, here in south Glos.
I had bloods taken yesterday morning before my cardiac review next week. The practice nurse was very concerned about my very irregular heartbeat which I seem to be getting more and more frequently. Alongside the increased breathlessness and rapid weight gain ( I can put on 2-4 lbs in a day) it’s obvious that my heart failure isn’t doing too well. Probably explains why I’m so tired too.
It’s been a struggle to get a gp appointment, my heart sinks at the thought of trying to get one in the future. It took 6 weeks to get this nurse appointment!
Anyway, onward and upwards I guess. I’m giving art group a miss today, I need to get begging letters for donations for the playgroup done today so I’ll concentrate on that.
I did give the house a good tidy and changed the bed yesterday so at least I am upto speed with something!
Take care everyone 🌹

karmalady Fri 20-Feb-26 06:55:30

Good morning, popping in from s somerset, very wet and soggy here

I have pretty well re-set myself but will no longer be wedded to GN. I have read more and done some feng shui, bedroom, hall and living room. Bedroom now has 5 of my sansevieria plants and is minus 2 lamps

Circadian rhythm is back on track with good sleeps, my hrv is increasing and the garage is tidy which has given me a tidy mind. I carried on with some sorting and yesterday tested and removed, all spices that might have been adulterated with sawdust and/or lead compounds to give colour. New spices ordered and breathing a sigh of relief

Best of all I have taken a load of worry off the AC shoulders , all three of them and my worries too, about them. I could do something about it and I did

I am a bit trapped at home at the moment because of the filthy road works but can still get out walking, my disgusting trainers will be binned as soon as the work is done

Today, a walk and more of whatever I want to do

Have a good day

Greyduster Fri 20-Feb-26 07:09:13

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Just getting light in South Yorkshire. Not sure what the forecast is.

I had a sleepless night so feel like a limp rag this morning. My car went in for a routine service yesterday and I had hardly left the garage when I knew there was something wrong with it. I had to leave it there and hope they will be able to sort it out this morning. One of their mechanics brought me home! It may be something simple but of course I am catastophising it by the minute, “like yer do!” All plans for today are on hold.

Anyway, have the best day you can, folks.

madeleine45 Fri 20-Feb-26 07:12:35

Good morning Mick and all GN's on a very dark and cold morning. Not a good morning for me actually. Feeling very down and a struggle coping - or partly not coping - at the moment.

Yesterday my cleaners didnt turn up again. I had gone out in the morning in a bit of a rush, and was looking forward to getting back to them being here and things looking better, plus their help with those annoying bits and pieces like opening jars and maybe finding my glasses. So to return to nothing done was depressing to say the least. I was already tired from being out , but had to summon up the energy to remake the bed etc and of course cant turn the mattress on my own . It was hard work doing the basics to get by and reminded me that I do really need that weekly visit to let me stay as independant as possible. So far I have been kidding myself that having the cleaners is a bit of a luxury and I could manage really on my own. Not sure where I go from here. They are really good cleaners and very nice people but I do need some certainty that they will be reliable, or I end up like this with too much to cope with on my own and things building up.

Not helped by being in quite a lot of pain and hobbling about at the moment, so will not be whizzing round cleaning up yet! Well help is at hand . Bach before 7 and a decent cup of coffee will hopefully improve my mood and get me started. I have a visitor coming about 11am today so I definitely have an incentive to at the very least get the lounge looking better , (even if it means bundling stuff up and shoving it into another room to hide it for now)

So yesterday morning was getting ready steadily to meet my friend at a big Morrisons where they have very large launderette place that you can wash duvets in. We have only just found this out and it was not a morrisons that I have visited before so arranged to meet there to have a scout round and a coffee together. I thought we had planned to be there by 9am but they rang and said they were already there at about 8am so it was a quick shove everything together and off. I put it in the satnav as I hadnt been there before and I knew that the car park would be round the back somewhere, so followed the instructions and was glad of them, as I would have had a problem finding it without the help of satnav. I generally dont use it, know most of where I am going and dont care to have a voice interrupting music either.

So after that successful foray I then tried to find my way to another place I needed to check up on, but there the satnav was not up to date and rather let me down. Once I got to where I wanted to be the satnav sent me down a road which is now blocked off and it was not possible to get to where I needed so gave it up as a bad job and then came home, to the lack of cleaners and the washing having to be on the clothes horse as it was raining and no chance of it going out.

Now here I am, creaking around and not at all in the mood to even start. The daffodils I had treated myself to 2 days ago to cheer the places are already looking over, which is annoying, and I can only hope that Bach and a coffee will improve my mood and with a bit of luck get me started on the jobs. Sorry I am being such a misery , but that is one of the great things about GN , that we can read about other peoples day and give us all a chance to post about good and bad days.

Hope that you have some good cycling to enjoy today Mick. Hope your book club goes well GrandMattie.NanyJan how disappointing that the coach couldnt get close. I would have also had to stay in the coach, couldnt have managed the walk, very frustrating for that lady who couldnt walk. Ashcombe you did well on your trip out. The inside of my car could certainly do with a bit of attention but yet another job that will be ignored for the day!

Well I hope the day goes well for others and improves for those of us struggling to begin today. I think I shall award myself some new flowers, if and when I get some of this mess sorted ,to cheer the afternoon up and will have my local paper to read and maybe find a garden open somewhere to see some snowdrops this weekend. Have the best day you can folks

Good morning all. North Leicestershire is chilly, cloudy and dry.

I have a health review with the nurse at our practice this morning then I will go to the butchers, farm shop, Waitrose and the post office. After which I aim to sit down.

Yesterday, I helped at a new cafe that AgeUk have started for people who have a diagnosis of Mild Cognitive Impairment. The aim is to give attendees the skills to help stop them progressing to dementia. Apparently existing cafe's like this are showing good signs of success.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Good morning from a dry W Kent. House stuff this morning and then DGS5 is coming this afternoon and overnight. He is 15, I hope he won’t mind watching the Olympics although I expect he will be on his phone.
Lovely to hear from you karma
Best wishes

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s 5 degrees, cloudy but dry at the moment. Showers are forecast for later. Yesterday I had a walk to the village shop, then dusted and vacuumed the stairs, landing and my bedroom. Dd2 called in at lunchtime then my Ocado delivery arrived. I sat and read for the rest of the day.

karma well done for resetting your circadian rhythm and getting your life back on track.

rosesandlilac sorry you are having such worrying health problems and such difficulty in seeing a doctor.

Thinking of all those who are struggling with health problems, either for themselves or for loved ones.

Hope Friday is kind to us all.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 20-Feb-26 07:30:00

Good morning from a grey S E Essex.

I shall go to the gym first thing, more for the tea and catch up afterwards than exercising 😹

We shall pop down the road for a curry this evening, The Imp is joining us. He loves a Chicken Tikka Masala, with mushroom bahji so I guess that’s him sorted.

Thinking of our friends with worries and troubles 🙋‍♀️🩷

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s slightly warmer at 4° but cloudy and grey
Hoping your health worries improve for you soon Rosesand lilac and you get the required treatment quickly
Yesterday we enjoyed a day out, we drove up north to a new lochside cafe that we’d not been to before, enjoyed coffee there and a walk around the loch. It was nice to try somewhere different for a change. Today I’ve a volunteering session this morning and then later I must do some admin and sorting through paperwork
Lovely to see you back here Karma
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Good chilly morning from the West Sussex coast. Today the living room gets painted. It’s been a long time coming about 13 years! I’m disabled so I have paid and bribed people to pack the room up these last 3 days. It’s going to take another 3 days to decorate and then somehow it’s got to be put back together. No plans yet on how that’s going to happen but cross that bridge when I have to. I had a scan yesterday MRI one, my nemesis and found a skin cancer on my back. Today will be infinitely better.. and it’s my youngest’s 58th birthday and he’s coming for coffee and croissants before work. And my sister is coming with her husband who’s doing the decorating. Lots to look forward to

Georgesgran Fri 20-Feb-26 07:37:46

Good Morning from a cold, grey Durham. Rain is forecast, but for me, it really doesn’t matter, being under voluntary house arrest, but I’m keeping in touch with friends and family by phone/text. 3 days to go!

Best wishes to all. X

HelterSkelter1 Fri 20-Feb-26 07:41:12

Madeleine45 your morning post sounds so unlike you. Don't forget you have only very recently had a nasty virus which take a while to recover from both physically and mentally.

Once your washing dries can you cut out washing clothes etc for a few days and allow yourself some slack. Is there a cleaning company locally to come and do a one off clean and tidy while your lovely cleaners are absent.
You always sound so positive and so helpful with your experience and advice. And so very active daily. Have a bit of a rest for the rest of Feb and then a re set like karmalady ready for March when Spring will spring.
