Good morning Mick and all GN's on a still cold dark morning here in North Yorkshire, however improved by being a little later and I can see the outline of the tree against the sky, which cheers with the promise of lighter mornings to come.
Today begins with a somewhat better start than yesterday. Not a lot of sleep and I am still moving at snail pace, but am grateful to start the morning with no cramp, so fingers crossed, I hope that drinking more water may be a fix for it a bit, but at least I can just move about without having to think what I am doing all the time. We dont really notice all the things that we do automatically , until we have to and it is quite tiring checking up all the time. Anyway here I am with the joy of J S Bach , and a piece I love, so with those two positive things I am choosing to think that today will be better!
Sorry I was such a misery yesterday. It really was a horrible day, and I struggled for most of it, and even a promised visit from a friend didnt happen. I was starting to get worried as no phone call or anything, when she rang later to say that her phone had died on her, and she was delayed and had to wait until she got home to ring me as she couldnt remember my phone number to ring!! I changed my phone not long ago, and of course we put favourite numbers in to just press and ring and the new numbers are so long, we dont really learn them by heart now. A bit late but she has now written half a dozen important numbers on a paper to keep in her wallet, in case of another need for them. So that about put the tin lid on a rubbish day. But I did get a bit done, as I plodded along, using my grabber to pick up lots of bits and pieces that had fallen on the floor, threw quite a lot of out of date papers and stuff away, so at least the floor is not a trip up hazard today.
The afternoon improved as I was able to listen to gardeners question time and last word etc etc. The tv was avoided as I am sick and tired of the endless Mountbatten repeated story and there wasnt anything I felt like watching on the olympics so radio 3 and 4 encouraged me to carry on doing a few things.
This morning I am up dressed and have my shopping list ready to venture out on the yellow peril to the market. I did go through the fridge yesterday and hope to get some good fresh fruit and vegetables and now we are past valentines day, should be able to buy some flowers to cheer the day at a reasonable price. My two hyacinths bowls have been lovely, but the blue ones are just about over and the cream ones are at their best today and their perfume is lovely. Each to their own, but I have never liked air fresheners or scented candles, but much prefer what I would call real perfume, so flowers with a beautiful scent, and I always enjoyed the smell of the christmas tree as much as the look of it.
If I could invent a way to make my own scents to wear that smelt of what I enjoy, they would be a funny mixed lot. Besides the normal smell of lillies and other flowers, I would love the smell of cherry blossom shoe polish, and that smell of tar on the road from a summer day, although that of course is actually very bad for you. Then that lovely smell of newly ironed clothes that were dried outside on the line. A smell of just toasted teacakes or grilled bacon, would just encourage me to eat more so perhaps wouldnt try those.
Anyway I am hoping to get the shopping and the Yorkshire Post and probably watch some rugby this afternoon if the rain promised yet again arrives. The ironing basket is full and awaiting my attention so might do a bit of that, and I hope that some inspiration will give me some idea for dinner tonight as I have nothing in mind so far.
Hope you have a good day Mick and get your chinese tonight. Well done with your quilt GrandMattie and hope your coffee morning efforts go well. Bellasnana you did very well with your car, hope the tennis goes your way tonight. Melanie how maddening to have to pull all your crochet back.
Well the sky is lightening now and still looking dry, so time to get organised and by the time I have got myself sorted and down the market the stalls will be ready for business and being early I should be able to get the bread I prefer from the breadshop too. Wishing you all a good day with positive outcomes from whatever you are planning, and hopefully a little sunshine to cheer the day.
