Toast and marmalade.

Yes I too find hot buttered toast and marmalade comforting.

macaroni cheese, grated cheese on top, sliced tomato,
under the grill for a blast -
good with a glass of soft cider, feel better food

My homemade sourdough and soup, preferably one I made with chicken stock.

Fish pie.

Coconut dhal with naan.

We don’t really eat processed food but a quality sausage roll sometimes hits the spot!

Seeded wholemeal toast, butter and Marmite.
I eat this nearly every day, I need a lot of comforting.

Porridge & golden syrup

Baked salmon steak, grilled tomatoes and vegetable rice.
I try to steer clear of sweet consolation.

I have cottage pie whenever I am feeling down. I have cooked mince with peas and carrots portioned out and frozen and the same with mash. If I have run out a ready meal will suffice.

Sarnia

Chocolate and plenty of it.

I keep a stash in a kitchen cupboard that I try to leave alone until I hit a bump in the road.

A chip butty, but it's a rare treat!

Cheese and mashed potato on sour dough toast with cheese and tomato on top. Manna from heaven.

Home made red lentil soup with crusty toast - so cheap too!

Sarnia Sat 21-Feb-26 17:43:47

Chocolate and plenty of it.

Tomato soup (easy tinned tomatoes, coconut milk, onions, spices) bread (easy flour, yeast, salt water) and salad (easy again).

Dark chocolate and crisps and ice cream in summer.
That’s what I would like, but generally i resist as need to watch diet.

The weather is grim, the news is abysmal, and on top of that we have the ups but more importantly ‘the downs’ of day to day life to contend with. So what are your comfort foods?
Mine are homemade soup with freshly baked bread from the Bakers shop and chocolate.
