Good morning Mick and everyone from Carlisle where the sun is threatening to come out. The forecast is poor though.

Yesterday I made an early visit to Sainsbury's to round up some fresh veg and items I can't get elsewhere...and somehow a bottle of good wine found its way into my trolley too!
Home to plant the remainder of my snowdrops in the green into the front lawn. Previous plantings of them and of crocuses are making a lovely display at the moment. I also had to tidy up a raised bed in the back. Some thing/s are excavating in it...I suspect wood mice...on the hunt for bulbs. I'm not sure what they like but it seems it isn't tulips.

Today I plan to visit the big garden centre for some hedging and no doubt a coffee. I may top up my fuel tank in view of current circumstances. Then it's back to read the papers and magazines.
I need to go and hunt in the freezer for dinner...a pheasant breast will be found hopefully. I'll wish you all a good day if possible.

Good Morning from Durham. It’s another dry start, but most days still end up with rain.
Lovely afternoon with DGS2 yesterday, although he was in trouble a couple of times for being cheeky. I’m meeting him and DD2 for a quick coffee this morning and to look at a coat she’s seen in M&S sale. She has a bit of a thing for coats, but can’t decide if she really wants it if not. She’ll bring her laundry, as my new machine is up and running.
Later, I might take my winter curtains down, change the cushion covers etc now that the weather seems to be picking up.

Best wishes to all. X

Morning from a dull S Hants, rain imminent, it’s my birthday, last year the weather was glorious, the family were in Dorset for the weekend.
Later the children and grandchildren are here for Indian takeaway dinner, apart from grandson who’s having pizza.
Rummikub is great fun Melanie, I hope you enjoy it.
Happy Birthday MrWS 🎂.

Happy Anniversary Mr and Mrs Cornergran🥂💐! Enjoy your lunch!

Good morning, Michael and all GNs, and Happy St David’s Day! It is fixing to be a brightish day in South Yorkshire.

I was disappointed yesterday that it was too wet to get the jobs done that I had planned for the garden, but when it did dry up, I planted up the large stone planter outside my front door with narcissus and polyanthus. Polyanthus are not my favourite but they were DH’s so I plant them for him. I also made a large pan of chilli for the freezer, and a batch of peanut butter cookies.

This afternoon I am taking DD, SiL and GS out to a local pub for Sunday lunch. They take me out quite a lot so this will be my treat.

Melanie, not long after our IKEA opened, DD and I went by tram “just to have a look”! We weren’t going to buy anything but came out so laden down we could hardly get back on the tram! Going to IKEA and buying nothing takes a supreme effort of will😂!

Have the best day you can, folks.

Morning Mick, morning All from a grey, damp corner of Somerset. Happy St Davids Day.

Yesterday was a super day. Sunshine, a muddy but non-flooded grave visit, an excellent meal with the family and time to chat afterwards. Our granddaughters are understandably unsettled and trying to process their grandmas illness in their different ways. A tiring day but oh so worth it.

It’s our wedding anniversary today. 57 years ago it was a freezing cold day with snow, grey skies which will also be over us today, thankfully without the snow. A table booked for a roast lunch at our favourite independent garden centre. The food is freshly cooked, always hot and tasty. Other than a phone call or two there is nothing planned.

Hope madeleine completes her adventure safely. With luck someone will stop and help today.

Best wishes to everyone and a hope this Sunday is kind to us all

Good morning all and the weather isn’t doing anything at the moment. Rain forecast later here in Essex.

Yesterday Db1 and SIL came for coffee and cake. It was good to see them with lots of chat as we hadn’t seen them since early December. Too many things going on for all of us.

I was really tired in the afternoon and fell asleep in the warm conservatory with the sun streaming in. Felt like rubbish when I woke up . Power Nap it wasn’t.

Roast chicken today and a start of a new book.

I hope you manage to retrieve the bit of your bins Madeleine. Take care though.
A trip to Edinburgh to see family sounds lovely Bella. I hope bil invites you over. 🤞.

Take care all 🌱

Good morning all from a dry Black country, the sun appeared yesterday afternoon for a few hours and it was lovely driving over to friends with no rain.
No plans will see where the day takes me, need to make few catch up phone calls but nothing urgent.
Happy St David's day to our Welsh grans🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans ☀️.

Good morning everyone from the east coast and again it’s raining but we have wind forecast too.

Today is DHs birthday and later the DC and GC are coming over for a lamb Sunday lunch. Yesterday was lovely with the GDs. He took GD1 to jujitsu and I took GD2 swimming she looked so cute in her swimsuit and goggles. In the afternoon we had friends for dinner. My pasta bolognese and DHs cheesecake went down very well. Hopefully by the end of today he will have enjoyed his birthday weekend.
Hope your DD enjoys her birthday too Bellasnana 🎉

Hoping everyone finds a moment of joy today🌼

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 7° and damp. A wet day is forecast. Yesterday was lovely and sunny in the afternoon. Madeleine i hope your 'fishing' trip is successful.
Yesterday I had a good catch up with my friend. The staff are lovely in the restaurant at the garden centre. Mostly young girls who happily bring our tray across to us( both of us have mobility issues). Yesterday was no exception. We were deep in conversation about tv chefs and a name escaped us, so the couple at the next table obliged. They were a lovely couple so the conversation developed further between the four of us. I then couldn't remember the name of another tv chef(Keith Floyd) and the young chap on the other side obliged! It brightened my morning to meet such friendly people. In the afternoon, I stripped the bed and changed everything. Dinner was a lovely veggie burger with chips.
Last night I slept well, although I was up twice, however my feet had settled down and weren't as painful. Today I have no plans. I will need to get money from 'the hole in the wall' to pop into dds birthday card for tomorrow. She had no idea what she wanted but has started to have regular massages on her neck and shoulders, so the money can go to that. Apart from that, I anticipate a quiet day. Stories for dinner. Have a good day all.

Good morning everyone from DD1s in Cambridge, it was wet yesterday but today looks much better
Youngest DGS enjoyed his birthday party with friends yesterday, today the other grandparents are coming over so there’s a family party this afternoon. It’s all go for DD1 but she takes it in her stride and is very organised
Good luck Madeleine I hope you manage to grab the missing piece when you return today!
Good to hear your Dh is doing ok Baubles and on the road to recovery
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

ginny Sun 01-Mar-26 07:52:08

Good morning from a dry , slightly breezy N. Bucks.
I’m off to meet with my scrapbooking friends in a while. One of our number has recently taken on a craft business and we are meeting at her workshop as our usual rendezvous is not available today.
I’m hoping DH will put up my new display board in my craft room.
Hoping all with worries and health issues will find some relief today.

harrigran Sun 01-Mar-26 07:48:31

Good morning from a dry NE.
Yesterday DS and both GDs visited, GD1 had spent the morning baking and brought a box of Brownies. We had some with a cup of tea and girls and I had some with vanilla ice cream as dessert.
Today will be a quiet day with dinner of leftovers from yesterday.
Have a good day.

GrannyGravy13 Sun 01-Mar-26 07:46:15

Good morning from a grey S E Essex.

DD and boys are coming for a late lunch (roast pork)

Thinking of those with illness and troubles, also those with family and/or friends in the Gulf states at this worrying time 🙋‍♀️🙏🏻

Melanie61 Sun 01-Mar-26 07:43:37

Good morning from Sheffield
Ironing board purchased together with, a soap dispenser, ice cream scoop, 3 storage boxes, some non slip mat stuff, bag of frozen cinnamon rolls, 10 coat hangers,2 pairs of scissors and a pizza cutting board!
Such a random list.

We have friends coming round later . They are avid game players and are insistent that we learn how to play Rummikub .
So we shall see, I’m not keen.

I shall do some food and they are very good company
Take care everyone flowers

Good morning from a grey W Kent. Usual Sunday with call to DB and walk for the paper. DH is struggling with a bad back so we will see how we go
We worked out that we know at least five people and families in the Middle East and they are on our minds. My oldest friend is all packed to visit her family in Bahrain.
Goodness Madeleine but too much of an adventure!
Best wishes

kittylester Sun 01-Mar-26 07:31:40

Good morning all from a damp North Leicestershire. We are promised drizzle!

DH has expressed a need to go out for breakfast so will go to town and combine eating breakfast out with a visit to the Works and dropping in on an embroidery exhibition in our small museum.

Football on the TV at lunch time so we will eat lunch at 5ish.

Have the best day possible everyone!

White rabbits x 3!! Good morning Mick and all GN's on a very dark still morning in North Yorkshire. I am definitely hoping that the white rabbits will bring me a bit of luck this morning, as what was meant to be a bit of a jaunt turned out to be more of an adventure yesterday!!

I was struggling all morning yesterday, and felt very frustrated as even with painkillers just didnt improve, and there were plants I couldnt plant and things I couldnt do. I decided in the afternoon that I would go out as everywhere I looked there were things that I couldnt do. So I had seen an advert in the local paper about a new little cafe opening in a small place called Hawnby through some little lanes towards Helmsley. I thought that would be a good little jaunt and rang a friend to see if she wanted to come with me. She turned out to just be going into the cinema so another plan scuppered.

Never mind, I would go on my own and take my binoculars and warm jacket as I would be able to go on from there up to a good dark viewpoint to watch and hope to see all the planets and moon promised for the evening if there was no cloud (fingers crossed). Chucked coats and bits into the car, and set off. Had a lovely drive, with very few cars on the road, across the moor , some of which is still badly burnt, and no sign of green recovery yet. Stopped at various points to enjoy the scenery and watch the birds. Lots of plump pheasants strolling around in their lovely plumage.

Found my way to the new cafe, had some difficulty parking , but managed it, as there was no way I could walk far . It was a very nice cafe with good coffee . Bit expensive but of course it is out in the country and no doubt much has gone up in price that I havent noticed , not having been having a meal out for a while. But definitely a good place to go, with lots of local goodies and they have a little shop there too. Very pleasant staff and I checked out the seating and the loos, to pass all the information to things like my womens group etc.
I like to find out things so if people ask if a wheelchair can get in etc., I am able to let them know what the facilities are like.

So was very pleased to have found this new place, and then drove on up and around to find a suitable place to be able to stop and watch the sunset and the planets clearly. Found a small layby with a reasonably wide view of the scenery and the sky, and sat watching the evening sky and for a minute or two there was a lovely rainbow far across to my right, but no time to take a photo. I had taken an extra jumper to put on under the jacket when it got chilly, and so got myself organised with binoculars hanging over my jacket and my phone camera at the ready. As I stood there it got quite cold and I was glad of the extra jumper. There was an iron fence at that bit and as it was rather muddy and slippery I was glad to be able to lean against the fence a bit to allow me to try and take a picture of the moon and the two planets that I could see. I was a bit dizzy looking up at the sky for a long time and so turned to used my binoculars to look across the moor.

Suddenly the lens bit near the eye with the rubber on it fell off and sods law, sort of bounced on a tuft of grass and instead of falling into the road went through the fence and rolled down the hill a bit. I couldnt reach it with my hand and in any case would have had trouble to try and bend down or kneel and hope to get up. Looked at the fence and decided that I would be an idiot to try and climb over and then drop down this hilly bit with no certainty that I would be able to climb back over being up hill and very muddy etc.

Naturally despite several cars and a cyclist having passed me beforehand there was no one about now. I went back to the car to see what I might be able to get it with and all I had was my extending windscreen cleaner. So took that and carefully fed it through the fence at its longest and hurrah it reached the bit and I was carefully trying to pull it towards me, but over very wet ground so it was pushing it into the soil at times. I was slowly winning, not got it within reach but making progress when the head fell off the cleaner - no doubt as it wasnt meant to be dragged through muddy fields but just clean glass. By this time it was very cold and dark and so I left the handle leaning against the fence , cleaned as much mud as possible off my boots and went home, for a much needed warm up and food.

So was up about 4,30am, and booted and suited and have my grabbers and various other implements and am now about to return and hope that "shaun the sheep" hasnt wandered over to either try and eat it or tread it into the ground. If you never hear from me again you will know why. Well its worth a try and it will be another barmy thing I have done over the years!!

Hope you have some good cycling to watch today Mick. Did you ever see those aprons from Portugal GrandMattie, where they have a back and then quite an ornate decorated front which you can get into from either side. They use them to walk behind the sheep or cattle and are knitting as they go. Then when they need to open a gate or whatever they stick the needles into the wool carried in the pocket and do the job and then continue to knit as they go. I brough a couple of those home with me and they were great to carry cleaning things up the stairs and collect toys etc and keep your hands free. I used to do Aran for both my husband and my son, but never attempted Fair Isle Gave up on making ones for my son when he was little as he was growing so quickly that even starting on what appeared to be a far too big size he would be ready for it as soon as I had finished it.

Well happy St Davids day to all welsh GNs and hope your month has begun in a better way as we all sigh with relief to change the calendar to look forward to spring, flowers and light. Enjoy your day and take care

Good morning from South Lanarkshire where we have heavy rain again.

Yesterday the weather gods sent us a little sunshine, such a rarity that I barely recognised it.

DD came bearing doughnuts, her Dad’s favourite, I’ve sworn off sugar though and managed to resist.

DH’s knee is swollen and painful, which I remember from when he had the other one replaced about eighteen months ago, he does feel that this time the pain is worse though. This too shall pass.

I’ll walk down to Mass once I have the patient settled on the couch. I need to post a parcel and collect one too, Vinted has much to answer for.

Other than that not a lot will be happening. Hoping everyone has the best day possible.

Redcar Sun 01-Mar-26 07:12:49

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s 7 degrees with light cloud, dry at the moment. I think a mostly dry day is forecast, yesterday was showery. My nieces and DDs visited in the morning, lots of happy memories of my dear sister in law, but a few tears too.
I didn’t do much else all day, so will have to catch up today. One machine load of washing is churning away in the kitchen, I need to strip the bed and get the sheets & duvet cover washed too, making the most of half price electricity today.

marzipan your day with your granddaughter sounds fun.

karma enjoy your day in Wells, we often visited when we were on holiday.

Happy Birthday to your DD bellasnana, it’s good that she keeps in regular contact with you although she’s so far away. Enjoy your time with your Dgss this afternoon.

I hope Sunday is a good day for us all.

Gagagran Sun 01-Mar-26 07:04:06

Good Morning all from a overcast and damp south coast. More rain is promised today and we are still getting daily flood warnings.

Laundry and other chores is the plan today and we shall probably have a video call from DD. She and her other half are off on an adventure holiday to Ecuador on 12 March so will hear more about their plans I expect.

Still thinking a lot about FGT and her family and hoping she is getting through these difficult days with their support.

Kind thoughts to all strugglers and may the day bring some ease and comfort.

Marzipan22 Sun 01-Mar-26 06:54:28

Good morning from a rainy, breezy Cornwall. My granddaughter and I went to the Cornish archives' wonderful building yesterday and used the microfiche to discover where my grandfather was buried. Then we followed a fast river through the town for fun and finally bought some Easter bunnies for her in Poundland. A bus journey took us back to her house. Once her dad arrived home I bussed to MacDonald's and ate a lazy supper there.

Today I have some pottering to do at home before meeting my eldest son at a lively church for their monthly worship evening, but I'll also probably venture out somewhere prior to that. Strong winds are forecast for today.

Ashcombe Sun 01-Mar-26 06:48:57

Good morning from a wet Torbay following a beautiful sunny day yesterday.

This morning I shall attend the early service and then my neighbour and good friend from upstairs will be coming round this afternoon for a catch up. Although we live in the same building, our paths rarely cross. She has been a wonderful support to me, especially in times of need like my spell in hospital a year ago.

My late MiL lived in Wells, karmalady and I have fond memories of visits made there.

Wishing you all a blessed Sunday. 🦩💐✝️🥰🦩

NannyJan53 Sun 01-Mar-26 06:41:40

Good morning from a dry (so far) Black Country.

Fantastic walk yesterday with a new group of ladies. Albeit very muddy underfoot along the canal and fields. The river was in full flow! Knew one lady already from another walking group.

Then coffee and chat in a cafe at the end.

No real plans for today, see what materialises.

I love Wells Karma always visit when we are in the area.

Wishing you all the best day possible. FGT flowers
