Anxiety about ….

The world has been in chaos forever, Bea. It’s just that we hear about it all day, every day now.

I get upset when these power-hungry men destroy our beautiful world and people in it who will never get the chance to lead full lives. I agree with the poster who said women should rule the world. We couldn’t make a worse job of it could we. I am very scared for my grandchildren and try to be positive but inside I’m fearful.

I think its very easy when living alone to get anxious, having someone to talk things over with makes it easier. I no longer watch the news on to TV because it has me in tears. I listen to it on the radio first thing to keep in touch but that's it. I am 80 and things in general are getting more challenging so that's my priority. Try to get a walk in everyday and for something and say hello to passers bye it definitely helps. I spend more time on my own like a lot of older people than I ever have and it takes some getting used to. Hope you feel a bit more at ease Bea with nice weather on its way.

I very much agree with you Allsorts, getting out every day if you are able can make all the difference. It's so nice at this time of year too as everyone is noticing the signs of Spring and can't help smiling

No.

tbh there have already been so many in my lifetime, I cant be bothered to get anxious any more.

I will prepare if I need to.
Take what comes.
And pray.

This. My worries are confined to my family and friends, nothing more.

I don't worry about things I have no control over. If something happens then I'll deal with it. Otherwise I concern myself about my family and my friends.

Same here, anxiety is draining. It’s also very bad for your general health.
When your tense with anxiety your muscles tense up holding onto toxins that would normally flush through your body.
It also slows your blood flow.
And I do know what a panic attack feels like.
There are numerous easy ways to get rid of that adrenaline but the simple one is: breath out, not in, slowly to a count of 10-15.

You sound a very strong minded person and am pleased you dont suffer with severe anxiety .. it’s very debilitating and some days I can’t get motivated to do anything .. this world is n chaos and altho I limit the news on Tv now, most everyone I know is talking about the ‘wars’ .. we’re being dragged into😢

Something special I’ve been quietly working on… ✨

My guided meditation 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗦𝗹𝗲𝗲𝗽 is launching 15 March on @bbcsounds as part of The Music & Meditation Podcast.

Created to help you unwind into deep, restorative sleep, with music by derrijosephlewis performed by the @bbcsso.

There’s also a short conversation with host @mrs_izzyjudd where we explore a gentler approach to sleep, and a few simple shifts that can make falling asleep feel much more natural.

Also airing 22 March on Radio 3 Unwind via @bbcradio3.

I’m truly honoured to be part of this collaboration and can’t wait for you to hear it 🌙”
This just popped up on my instagram page. Jason is my go to podcaster when my mind won’t switch off and I can’t sleep. Pleased to see that the BBC have discovered him, too!

🙏I’m going to try and access this thru iPLAYER …next week

Every morning the dog wakes me up for her breakfast ages before I actually want to get up ( I’m not a morning person). So I put one of Jason’s get back to sleep videos on utube and it gets me back to sleep. There are lots of them and I try different ones.

The UK is bound to get into wars in the near future and the further future but it’s not something to dwell on and worry about since it’s futile.
If you get anxious easily then reducing news consumption is def the way to go but also think about doing some kind of mindfulness, yoga or similar. And never lie awake fretting, if you can’t sleep then get up and read or watch a comedy on tv.
Concentrate on your own family and friends and doing whatever makes you happy.

We already are involved
Akrotiri. Marham, Lakenheath
The ‘special’ relationship 🙃,
Starmer’s relationship with Israel’s quest to expand and subjugate et al

How right you are .
So many people are having to choose between eating and heating and our government are dancing.
They are celebrating their five per cent pay rise .
And shame on Angela Rippon for leading it .

I wondered if people were going to the big town near me .
It's far better for shopping .
But it's much quieter than usual despite the sales .
Sitting in a cafe with my friends - we were wondering why and it's perhaps it's fear of what could happen in the future.

I pray and try to meditate on peace.

I have reduced my news consumption but as I’ve been confined to barracks with infections the past two weeks, I’ve listened to radio 4 and 5. In the daytime and ch 4 news at 7 pm.

I’m not scared but I’m angry, a useless emotion, about the dangerous fool in the White House. I loathe the Iranian regime but had hoped our allies would share our opposition to attempting regime change in Middle Eastern countries. Well our European allies do….

I hopeful that my grandchildren will continue to live safe happy lives

Grannybags

Yes. I worry how it’s all going to affect interest rates and the cost of living for my children and grandchildren.

I'm with you on this too. We never know what DT will do next.

Let us pray for peace.

And for dancing in Parliament…really insensitive for troops being sent on defence missions…

This government is useless and without integrity…

I think there is considerable chaos in the far east ..and pray for humanity 🙏

Cossy

Yes, at 67 I’ve not experienced war first hard, and I pray I never have to, we have folks in the US & Canada, friends in Turkey and, thank goodness, my dear god/daughter has just returned home from a stint nursing in Saudi Arabia.

I loathe the news these days, depressing at best, horrifying at worst.

Yes I supported colleagues when they were sent to t he GULF
in the 80s from Germany air bases…

Now with Saudi flights operating or not, we’re in a time of ‘what happens next’ and this causes great concern and not sure if UK government/leadership is strong enough??

I tend to watch the news in the morning or at the latest at lunch time. That way I keep up to date with things without looking later in the day which tends to cause me to worry and think about it in the evening and when I am in bed and cannot sleep.

So I dont ignore it and having lived in syria and portugal and other places I am naturally concerned especially for friends still living in Damascus, but there is very little that I can do practically, and whenever I see Trump my blood pressure rises at the way he is behaving , so try to avoid him at all costs. I support what charities I can and do what I can to help whatever is possible but at 80 there is little I can do practically speaking, just tell people how it is living in such places. Praying for things to improve but as long as Trump thinks the world is there to provide him with whatever he needs there will be a problem. Good job that Starmer has legal training and whatever you think of his politics he is definitely more trustworthy and knowledgeable than Trump.

🙏🙏 👏👏

MayBee70 When I experienced an earthuake. I just turned on the radio and the news told me that there had been an earthuake in Dudley, which had been felt as far south as the M4. As I lived north of the M4, I immediately had all the earthquake details I needed.

When you’re alone and a bit scared sometimes you need to speak to a real person even if it’s on the internet, not just hear the news on the radio. I assume you don’t live alone ( apologies if you do) and sometimes don’t see another person for days?

MayBee70 thank you for your empathy…💐

Yes I live alone and can imagine that those of us who don’t see people on a daily basis are more concerned about the ever changing world crises and feel really anxious 😥
