Anyone feeling more anxious than usual with global economic and political instability…
Am trying to reduce my news consumption but finding it difficult…seem to be getting worse…

Yes indeed. We don't watch the news any more, but listen to the BBC radio news instead or read the paper. Seeing the pictures, particularly before bedtime, is just too stressful.
I’m a bit of a worry wart but each day..the news , especially when the headline says BREAKING NEWS..I’m thinking we UK are going to be involved/dragged into the devastating consequences of US/Iran war…
I never used to bother much with the news, but there's so much
trouble going on ,that we could be involved in,and it is worrying.
No.
tbh there have already been so many in my lifetime, I cant be bothered to get anxious any more.
I will prepare if I need to.
Take what comes.
And pray.
No, it’s always been an unsafe world in all respects and through the ages.

This is how I feel- other people have made some very stupid mistakes but giving them my attention when I could be doing so many other things won't be one of mine.
I've just stopped bothering...
Yes. I worry how it’s all going to affect interest rates and the cost of living for my children and grandchildren.

Yes me too and pray for peace everywhere 🙏
My parents were born just before WW1. One. with his 6 brothers and father, served in WW2, including the normandy landings.
I was born in London during WW2. Lived through the Cold War, the Bay of Pigs crisis, now that was frightening, todays shenanigans pale into insignificance compared with that.
I have lived through several oil crisese and 13% interest rates.
Waht happens will happen and I have no control of it, and my children and grandchildren will just have to grin and bear it as we have.
I’ve never before avoided the news the way that I’ve been doing for a year or so now. I remember, as a young mother stuck at home with a baby, I told my doctor how fearful I was of world events. At the time I found his reply a bit insensitive and it made no sense to me but he said ‘ try to get out more’. Now, being old, retired and rather housebound with a bad knee what he said makes much more sense to me. Which is why, unable to go out meeting people, I avoid the news.
Yes I'm concerned and anxious . I can't watch the news and the constant repeating over and over . I'm worried there will be food shortages and how we will live with the cost of living rises . I'm afraid for the poor people caught in the middle . Our poor world 🌎
No, I'm an avid news junkie. I think that comes of a lifetime of working in the media industry.
The news is, indeed, distressing and worrying at the moment. At times like these, although I don’t bury my head in the sand, I don’t watch constantly. I watched it at lunch time and that will be enough for me today.
It was the same during Covid - if I’d let myself, I would have been glued to the tv, but I made myself do other things and limited the viewing.
Worrying isn’t going to alter what is going on, all we can hope for is that common sense will prevail and that it doesn’t go on and on and on.
My heart goes out to all those caught in war zones all over the world, and I continue to pray for peace, which as a species we seem incapable of maintaining, sadly.
I'm not worried or concerned.
When things happen that are totally out of my control I tend to just accept them. As others have said, we've lived through quite a few hairy moments

This too shall pass.
Yes. Very worried.
I worry about things its in my power to change, which is a lot, but not things I can't. Pointless.
I think anxiety is worse when living alone and you don’t have anyone to bounce off or distract you….

I’m too am housebound and nearest family are miles away and DD is in USA so I’m more aware/on alert of global issues than maybe most because of loved ones far away…Think some comments here are very blasé

Yes. I think in situations like this we need to protect ourselves. They were talking on another forum about conscription and, having teenage grandsons and a son possibly of an age that could get called up, I immediately found my stomach churning. On the plus side we can chat to people online so, even in the early hours of the morning there’s usually someone to talk to. I remember feeling an earth tremor years ago and spoke to someone on another forum who confirmed that there had, indeed, been an earth tremor. Before that I would have just been sitting at home wondering what on earth was happening.
MayBee70 When I experienced an earthuake. I just turned on the radio and the news told me that there had been an earthuake in Dudley, which had been felt as far south as the M4. As I lived north of the M4, I immediately had all the earthquake details I needed.

No, it’s always been an unsafe world in all respects and through the ages.
Indeed and it’s shoved under our noses 24/7 now.

No, it’s always been an unsafe world in all respects and through the ages.
Indeed and it’s shoved under our noses 24/7 now.
Better shoved under our noses 24/7 than living in the areas affected, and having to live it 24/7.
Perhaps the more we understand how others in the world are suffering the more we will be prepared to do something about it, if we can.
