Good morning Mick and all GN's on a very dark chilly but still morning in North Yorkshire. Cant even see the tree outline yet and when I opened the curtains a very chilly feel to it so swiftly shut them again to keep in what heat there is.
Another rubbish night mostly coughing plus usual aches and pains. I hadnt considered trying to see a doctor for a cough, but this is just going on and on and now causing my ribs to ache a lot and feeling very run down. Things that seem very minor, but I recognise them as the warning signs, so nails easily splitting and catching, and have a split in my lip , which will not heal up, but every time it seems a bit better it then splits again and is quite painful especially when I managed to get lemon juice on it , which certainly made me jump. But as they say when we sleep it allows our bodies to do a bit of maintenance and healing up and the lack of sleep is the most concerning.
Yesterday I had great plans about tackling the ironing, but just felt so wacked that despite sorting it out to be ready to begin I just felt so rough I didnt even feel well enough later to do it so that has to be priority for today. I did minimum things and felt annoyed that I couldnt bend down and plant my few plants, so my lovely jonquils had to cheer me - which they did - and I just did very basic jobs and had some good soup at lunch time . Rang a friend to see if she was free to meet for coffee but no reply, but a bit later she rang back as she had been at work and couldnt answer my call and we agreed to meet in Neros as she was on her way home then.
That at least had me making the effort to change my t shirt and tidy myself up a bit and then down to Neros where I had only hobbled in and grabbed a comfortable chair when she arrived. So it was good to have a coffee and a catch up. |Being later in the day 4.30pm, it was getting quiet there and the staff were catching up on restocking and so forth and so that was very pleasant and I felt better for making the effort. We left and I went home and decided to go to the games night which I have missed for several weeks one way and another.
I thought I might be quite useless as had had so little sleep and didnt know if my brain was up to the complicated level of the games, but decided that I would at least show my face. Luckily they started with a game that was quite simple and you mostly had to be able to count and work out odds and keep a straight face rather like a poker game. Maths are my sort of thing and I am quite good at mental arithmetic and so working out odds etc played to my strengths . My father taught us whist when we were about 4 years old and from the beginning it was "always count how many cards of a suite have gone " and "keep a straight face whatever you hand is good or bad" so I had no problem with this game and it cheered me to play it and it was not frustrating. That helped when we moved on to another game that went up in difficulty via 3 different hands and changes of forfeits etc , which became more frustrating as it went along, as I couldnt sort my hand out and also remember what other players had. So I bowed out after that, thanking them for putting up with my poor play in that game and was glad to get home and go to bed, carefully NOT watching any news before attempting to sleep.
So this morning it is breakfast and basic bed making etc and then start on the ironing with no more excuses. In any case I am now down to least loved t shirts and underwear, so that hopefully will get me started, but dont think I shall manage it all today. Tonight it is whist, where I can relax and enjoy the game and the company, so if it stays dry even if it is cold, I shall at least attempt to walk round the flats and then the other thing I must do is make an effort to really clean the muddy stuff from my tale of the binoculars and either get my windscreen wiper back to pristine cleanliness or if the mud is too entrenched look for a new one. This one was cheap anyway and is quite old but did let me reach with the extension to the middle of the , windscreen , so do need to sort it.
Do take care if you go off on the bus Mick. I think you might enjoy the trip but perhaps not carry a lot of shopping. Hope it stays dry and you meet some friends. Ashcombe bet you will have many tales of holidays from hell from everyone. Why do we remember those in much more detail than the ones we enjoyed!GrandMattie you deserve a medal for all that baking, and hope they appreciate it. I think you should cause consternation among the group by suggesting a rota of baking where you only have to do it perhaps once a month and get them to share the work. At the very least it might make them thankful for all your efforts. Pantglas good luck with the medical mission today.RoseandLilac Hope you can get some news soon and some help to improve your breathing. Bellasnana hope you have a pleasant catch up with your friend .Grandmabatty hope you have another good day with the children and think I will be joining you with the baked potato idea as have a little bit of gammon and that will go nicely with it. Thanks for the idea.
Well had another look out and it is very grey , cold and still, so should encourage me to get on with the ironing as so far not a bit of sun or warmth to see. Well the thought of having a choice of clothes I like should egg me on and hope there is some good music on radio 3 to keep me company.
Have a good day everyone, may your plans work out for the day
