Good Morning Wednesday 4th March 2026
(48 Posts)Good morning from a dark but dry Torbay after another sunny one yesterday, once the mist had cleared.
My advice would be to rest another day, Mick, but perhaps you need to shop. Take good care.
Wednesday Club today where we shall discuss Holidays from Hell! I have a few anecdotes to share, mainly from our caravanning days.
Happy hump day, everyone ! 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩
Good morning from Bristol. Not looked out yet, but think it’s dry!
Mick, good to know that your leg is improving and you feel able to go out today.
Yesterday morning was spent baking - I made two sorts Off biscuits and three tray bakes. I hope they will be enjoyed. One gets very little feedback.
Today, my helpers and I will need to move furniture to set up the “concert venue”, get all the coffee made and everything else sorted for the expected 100+ attendees to this FAB cafe pop concert. I’ll try to take photos.
I have a meeting with the estate managers this afternoon. I shall be very tired by evening.
It is lovely to see fgt posting again🌷; well done that girl.
Thoughts for the mountaineers. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩
Good morning all from dark and dry north Wales where another glorious spring day beckons 🤗. Hope you take good care on your travels Mick x
How lovely to see FGT posting and so positively updating us on where she’s at in the challenging journey she’s on - we’re marching with you, Lovely! Hope the Boy Wonder and Lil Miss are a huge source of inspiration for you along with your girls x
Hope those with medical-itis have good news soon - I’m chauffeuring the Staff to dermatology again today as he was offered a cancellation appointment - I said yes before he had a chance to dither…🤦♀️
Will pop along later and read of your doings x
Good morning, I think it’s dry out here in south Glos, it was when I went outside a couple of hours ago. The frogs in the pond were very vocal and a muntjac was barking nearby.
I’m glad to be home, but I wish I had a better idea of what’s making me so breathless. Hopefully the CT and angiogram will show up something.
I slept in my recliner, it’s more comfortable than being in bed, the dogs kept me comfortable and wandered outside with me when I needed fresh air.
A strange life at the moment.
I might dig out some embroidery kits today, I simply cannot sit and do nothing 😊
I hope today goes well for you all, thank you so much for all the good wishes, it’s means a great deal to me x
🌹
Good morning from Malta where it is cloudy, expected to remain hazy with a high of 19°C.
Had the boys yesterday afternoon so DD3 could do her weekly shop in peace. They were absolutely sweet, no trouble at all. I’m having them on Saturday as well so will look forward to it. They bring me such joy.
I’m going up to Mellieha this morning to meet an old friend for coffee (old as in we’ve known each other for a long time).
I then have a dentist appointment this afternoon, just a check up so hopefully no nasty surprises.
Won the princely sum of £50 on the premium bonds, better than nothing I suppose!
Hope you all have a good day.☀️
Good morning all from Polmont where its currently 2° and dry. Yesterday was lovely weather, sunny and spring like. GrandMattie a prodigious amount of baking! Well done. It was good to see Roses post last night, although i was sorry to hear she has been so unwell.
Yesterday was a pleasant day at Batty Towers. I dropped off the boys at school/nursery. They both were well behaved with no fighting or complaining. Then i pottered about my house and had a nap before picking them up again. I have had a number of cold callers over the last couple of weeks, all desperate to replace my drive for me. The one yesterday is replacing a dtive in the street and i wouldnt use them for the way they were shouting at the young man who was doing the donkey work. I didnt manage to catch the fish man, unfortunately, so no lemon sole.
Today i have an extra early childcare day as the other grandparents are away on holiday. I'll leave shortly for dds house then get the boys organised there. No need to bring them to my house this morning. Then I'll go to the school library this afternoon before picking the boys up again. Dgs1 has football training later then dd will pick up dgs2. I will do very little in between. I need a new outdoor brush to sweep up twigs from next door who have an enormous tree in their front garden. I'm not sure what dinner will be- possibly baked potato. Have a good day all
Today
Good morning from sunny s somerset
It was a marathon job yesterday but I did finish in one day and not three. A big drive and very big L shaped patio. All pressure washed and I have cleaned the mess from spray and splashes. I was aching later but am ok today. I have a flat whirling karcher tool which is safe on the drive pavers and does not splash but the pulsing fierce tool is very powerful and good at splashing dirt up on the walls, doors, cills and me. It is a good tool but I need to be prepared when I do the back patio with this
I will be setting my outdoor recliner up later, My garden is a suntrap and I have a book to finish. I can also see me going on a longer walk today, walking from home and down to the river with lovely open views. First I have a large veggie lasagna to assemble for ready meals, washing to do and hang outside
Roses the embroidery is a good idea. I too am hoping for a workable solution for your health and everything is crossed
Good morning Mick and all GN's on a very dark chilly but still morning in North Yorkshire. Cant even see the tree outline yet and when I opened the curtains a very chilly feel to it so swiftly shut them again to keep in what heat there is.
Another rubbish night mostly coughing plus usual aches and pains. I hadnt considered trying to see a doctor for a cough, but this is just going on and on and now causing my ribs to ache a lot and feeling very run down. Things that seem very minor, but I recognise them as the warning signs, so nails easily splitting and catching, and have a split in my lip , which will not heal up, but every time it seems a bit better it then splits again and is quite painful especially when I managed to get lemon juice on it , which certainly made me jump. But as they say when we sleep it allows our bodies to do a bit of maintenance and healing up and the lack of sleep is the most concerning.
Yesterday I had great plans about tackling the ironing, but just felt so wacked that despite sorting it out to be ready to begin I just felt so rough I didnt even feel well enough later to do it so that has to be priority for today. I did minimum things and felt annoyed that I couldnt bend down and plant my few plants, so my lovely jonquils had to cheer me - which they did - and I just did very basic jobs and had some good soup at lunch time . Rang a friend to see if she was free to meet for coffee but no reply, but a bit later she rang back as she had been at work and couldnt answer my call and we agreed to meet in Neros as she was on her way home then.
That at least had me making the effort to change my t shirt and tidy myself up a bit and then down to Neros where I had only hobbled in and grabbed a comfortable chair when she arrived. So it was good to have a coffee and a catch up. |Being later in the day 4.30pm, it was getting quiet there and the staff were catching up on restocking and so forth and so that was very pleasant and I felt better for making the effort. We left and I went home and decided to go to the games night which I have missed for several weeks one way and another.
I thought I might be quite useless as had had so little sleep and didnt know if my brain was up to the complicated level of the games, but decided that I would at least show my face. Luckily they started with a game that was quite simple and you mostly had to be able to count and work out odds and keep a straight face rather like a poker game. Maths are my sort of thing and I am quite good at mental arithmetic and so working out odds etc played to my strengths . My father taught us whist when we were about 4 years old and from the beginning it was "always count how many cards of a suite have gone " and "keep a straight face whatever you hand is good or bad" so I had no problem with this game and it cheered me to play it and it was not frustrating. That helped when we moved on to another game that went up in difficulty via 3 different hands and changes of forfeits etc , which became more frustrating as it went along, as I couldnt sort my hand out and also remember what other players had. So I bowed out after that, thanking them for putting up with my poor play in that game and was glad to get home and go to bed, carefully NOT watching any news before attempting to sleep.
So this morning it is breakfast and basic bed making etc and then start on the ironing with no more excuses. In any case I am now down to least loved t shirts and underwear, so that hopefully will get me started, but dont think I shall manage it all today. Tonight it is whist, where I can relax and enjoy the game and the company, so if it stays dry even if it is cold, I shall at least attempt to walk round the flats and then the other thing I must do is make an effort to really clean the muddy stuff from my tale of the binoculars and either get my windscreen wiper back to pristine cleanliness or if the mud is too entrenched look for a new one. This one was cheap anyway and is quite old but did let me reach with the extension to the middle of the , windscreen , so do need to sort it.
Do take care if you go off on the bus Mick. I think you might enjoy the trip but perhaps not carry a lot of shopping. Hope it stays dry and you meet some friends. Ashcombe bet you will have many tales of holidays from hell from everyone. Why do we remember those in much more detail than the ones we enjoyed!GrandMattie you deserve a medal for all that baking, and hope they appreciate it. I think you should cause consternation among the group by suggesting a rota of baking where you only have to do it perhaps once a month and get them to share the work. At the very least it might make them thankful for all your efforts. Pantglas good luck with the medical mission today.RoseandLilac Hope you can get some news soon and some help to improve your breathing. Bellasnana hope you have a pleasant catch up with your friend .Grandmabatty hope you have another good day with the children and think I will be joining you with the baked potato idea as have a little bit of gammon and that will go nicely with it. Thanks for the idea.
Well had another look out and it is very grey , cold and still, so should encourage me to get on with the ironing as so far not a bit of sun or warmth to see. Well the thought of having a choice of clothes I like should egg me on and hope there is some good music on radio 3 to keep me company.
Have a good day everyone, may your plans work out for the day
Morning Mick, morning All. If the forecast is right a pleasant day ahead for our corner of Somerset with the sun appearing later.
Yesterday was disappointing weather-wise, grey cloud all day. The laundry dried enough to be ironed if not put away. It was hard to relax as our goddaughter spent the day in A&E with suspected heart issues, thankfully all well with her heart although her symptoms remain undiagnosed. I suspect emotional stress is playing its part as more concerning news has come about her Mums care, or lack of.
Off for a coffee with our displaced neighbours this morning. The remedial work on their home is due to last into another three weeks. Their temporary home is next to a beach, we plan to go early and enjoy a walk before our coffee together. Bits to do in town afterwards with perhaps a snack lunch in the middle. Who am I kidding? Definitely a snack lunch in the middle!
Good to see you home roses, I hope you have the answers you need very soon, it all sounds quite scary.
Best wishes to all, have the best day you can everyone.
Good morning from Sheffield
Yesterday was a lovely spring day here
I managed to wash the bedding, do some gardening. It was nice to be outside.
I’m working today, I love my job so it’s not a bad day.
I am going for an early walk to grab some fresh air before work
FGT
A dignified and brave lady
Take care everyone
Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where the sun has yet to get its act together. I finally got my ears cleared yesterday, after three visits to the audiologist. We were both so relieved to see the last piece of wax come out we almost did a little dance around the treatment room! The weather was lovely yesterday morning and I was almost tempted, while in the area, to head off up the road to NT Longshaw for a walk, but time would not allow.
School in the afternoon went well and I walked there and back along the lanes where daffodils were blooming and birds were courting! GS rang in the evening for a chat. Subjects ranged from food to the current political situation and back to food again! He has a reading week next week so I can look forward to seeing him.
This morning I have a physio appointment and as it’s in the same complex as the gym I shall have a short session there before I come home.
Have the best day you can folks.
Good morning all from a cloudy North Leicestershire.
Not much happening here today which is good. I was shattered yesterday after choir and then coffee out. The remnants of the awful virus I think.
Have the best day possible everyone.
Good morning mick and all from S E Essex.
Off to the gym first thing, then I will see how the day goes.
(((Hugs))) to those in need 🙋♀️
Good morning from South Lanarkshire. It looks rather grey right now but yesterday’s weather was an unexpected joy with sun shining from the most glorious blue sky.
The stars last night were bright and beautiful.
I was alone in the shop for most of my shift yesterday so I wasn’t able to do any sorting, just had to man (woman) the till and the shop floor.
DH’s wound is leaking and the dressing is loosening at the knee joint so I’ll have to chivvy him to call the hospital this morning.
Wishing everyone struggling a better day today.
Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s not as cold this morning but is misty, hope it clears soon.
A lovely sunny day yesterday, I actually had to water some of the bulbs in pots, seems ridiculous after all the rain we’ve had. The grass is growing fast, I hope my friend will cut it soon with his petrol mower, I’m not sure my little battery mower will do the job!
roses I hope that the doctors can find out why you’re so breathless soon, and give you some treatment for the problem.
fgt good that you had your nails done yesterday, a little pampering is good for the soul!
Have the best day possible everyone. Thinking of those who are struggling at the moment.
Good morning from a misty W Kent. Off for a short break this morning to Lincolnshire, somewhere we have visited a lot over the past fifty years also hoping to see DB and check up on him after a serious infection.
R&L I hope you have some results soon
Mind how you go Mick
Best wishes to all
Good morning everyone from south Manchester where Alexa tells me it’s tells me not only will it be 14°C later but there will be “lots of sun”. How utterly splendid! As we turn the corner into the spring equinox it’ll be good to say bye bye to grey skies and rain. I think we’ve all had enough of it.
I’m meeting Himself’s older brother and his wife for brunch this morning. He’s been my wingman these past 3 years taking us to Christie’s for every single blood test, chemotherapy, scan appointment and out patient clinic. Just above and beyond.
Whenever we’d thank him he’d shrug and say “we’re family, it’s what we do”. 💕
I cried a lot last night on my own. Himself had told me at the hospice “do your crying at home ~ then you can smile and be the best company you can when you go out”.
I consoled myself by eating almost a whole Lindt bunny late last night after my crying jag (yes Dear Reader, the £8,50 size!) and feel slightly yuk this morning. Serves me right.
Good morning all from another dry day in the Black country.
Toddlers this morning depending on how busy it is will decide what to do with the rest of the day.
It should be quite here our road is closed for the next 3 days between 9 and 4 for maintenance, its usually a busy road used as a cut through to avoid the traffic lights.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find a little bit of ☀️.
Good morning from a misty Leicestershire, I can’t see the hills this morning.
Sorry to hear you have been in hospital Roses hope they can help you soon.
We are meeting friends for coffee this morning then coming home to do some admin I have been putting off.
Keep it up FGT and wishing everyone the best day possible.
Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s a dry and bright start to the day
I’m sure your baking is very much appreciated gMattie enjoy the FAB cafe concert today
Its a busy day ahead with the gym this morning, coffee with pals and home later this afternoon. More or less the same as yesterday really except I’ll be out line dancing this evening too. All enjoyable and time spent with friendly ladies.
Hoping you feel a bit better soon Roses
fgt ❤️
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐
Good morning. Dry, still and dull here in N. Bucks at the moment.
A busy but interesting day yesterday, some good speakers to add to our list. Later I unexpectedly went to watch DGSs 2&3 at their swimming lessons. They have improved so much since I last watched before Christmas. Choir practice was good fun we are learning all new ( to us) songs. Including one that some of us will be singing at our MDs wedding in May.
This morning will be at home and the this afternoon it is Craft group where I am leading the project. Pictures, cards and bookmarks with dried flowers.
WI this evening, must find my item for the competition.
Wishing all a good day especially those who are struggling in any way.
Good morning Mick and everyone from greyish Carlisle.
I preferred yesterday's weather even though I had to scrape ice off the car windscreen.
I collected a prescription then did some food shopping in Marks before heading home to do a bit of bathroom cleaning and laundry. I actually got a load of towels practically dry outside, first time this year. Also for the first time this year, I sat out with my coffee. I felt my old acacia wood bench was a tad wobbly so I investigated and found various joints rotting. I ended up dismantling the whole thing so a trip to the recycling centre will be needed shortly.
Today a pile of iron beckons and I'll have a wipe around the kitchen. I'd like to get out in the garden but we'll see what the weather does. The boiler should have been serviced this afternoon but that's been put off to later this month due to staffing problems.
Best wishes to all of you having hard times.
And a pleasant day to everyone...
Good morning from Shropshire.Blue sky this morning.
After four days of gallivanting and eating out it will be a much needed day at home.Lots on my to do list.We will collect DGD later and take her out for tea and then to her dance class.
I hope you have the tests you need soon Roses.
Lovely to see you posting FGT.You are pretty amazing 💐
Wishing everyone the best day possible 🌻🦩
Good morning from a bright and sunny Black Country, at last!
Yesterday was quite dull until late afternoon.
7 mile walk yesterday, lots of chat, then coffee at the end. Lovely cafe on what used to be a Railway Station, called The Platform. At least we managed to sit outside.
Thought I was doing well on the journey, no roadworks. Then 3/4 of the way there, roadworks!
Then onto Mums ( as I was halfway there already), where I picked up her prescription. Took some paperwork to her Doctors Surgery, then onto Lidl.
u3a Amblers group walk this morning, usually only 2 miles or so. The I hope to clean the windows and the Uvpc surrounds this afternoon. See how I feel.
