Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s a lovely sunny start to the day
I’m hoping to get going in the garden today, there’s lots to do and the weather should be dry. I might fit in a trip to the garden centre to get some spring colour for a couple of pots at the front door. This evening I’m out with my pal to a country music event in town so looking forward to that and a bit of dancing too
Roses there’s always some people like that, sorry you’ve been upset 💐
A belated Happy Birthday Redcar for yesterday and to everyone in your family today Gagagran 🎂🥂💐
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Good morning we’re in Derbyshire for our first break since I retired. I’m struggling a bit with routine and not working. However enjoying the freedom so can’t complain. Hubby is trying to cut down on work now as he always likes to be busy. We’re going to have a drive around familiar spots then home to the north east. Hope everyone has a good day you all keep me going.

Good morning from Durham. A slow start today and a quiet one expected.

After the snow showers yesterday we did venture out to Kiplin Hall in North Yorks and what a joy it was. Three floors of stately home to explore with an abundance of history. There are no barriers preventing you from exploring furnishings and objects, in fact the volunteers encourage you to look up close. Quite different to NT properties we have visited.

We had a walk around the lake and gardens where lots of snowdrops were unfortunately no longer looking their best but the daffodils were emerging in force. Slightly muddy underfoot but we shall definitely return in drier weather to have a longer wander. Great cafe too.

Wishing all the best day possible.

Good morning from a sunny but frosty NE. Forecast is for a dry day.
Yesterday I wasn't very well so just sat and shredded old paperwork.
Late in the evening DD messaged me and sent a photograph, her street in Brussels was full of emergency vehicles and outside her house were police marksmen aiming their guns at a property two doors away.
She was giving me a running commentary, there was shouting, furniture being thrown into the street and windows broken. Things were set on fire and then it escalated, the perpetrator apparently jumped from the building.
I was shocked and told DD to get away from the windows. I am waiting for her to let me know what happened as it is bound to be on their local news today.
DS and GD are visiting this afternoon when GD finishes rehearsal for Hadestown which is being staged in Durham next week. The school productions are superb.
Have a good weekend.

Good morning from a grey still Suffolk where fog is forecast for the next couple of days. I’m missing the promising start to Spring of a few days ago but at least the daffodils, more it seems than ever, and the primroses give me a lift in these dull days.

Apart from a walk with the little dog after breakfast,we have no plans for the day so resting, reading and generally being grateful for being safe and well will fill my day.

Hope all have a good day. I’m about to enjoy another cup of tea and read all the posts.

Morning from a chilly, grey S Hants, yesterday it rained, we too had Saharan sand on the cars.
Happy family birthdays Gagagran 🎂
How nasty people can be Roses enjoy your quieter day.
Although I can’t wander in our garden at the moment I can see signs of life, very cheering.
Have a pleasant day if you can.

A very late good morning Mick and all GN's from a very cold and frosty co durham. I ended up staying with my friend and we have had a very nice time together. I had my laptop with me, but they have had some change to their router or whatever and I have only just sorted this out, as it wasnt allowing me to connect and until they checked it I was too wary of trying anything out myself in case I lost stuff or caused havoc. But another lesson learned.

Yesterday was very frustrating. I knew exactly what I wanted to do, but my back and knees didnt improve all day and so it was really annoying how long the least thing took to do. Then I needed to check all the rubbish ect was in the right place as hopefully (huh!) the promise of the bin men being told to come and take what they left and leave me more bags or whatever will happen today.

Then had various things to do and if there was something to go wrong it did do! So after being pleased with what I had accomplished on thursday was not at all pleased yesterday and to cap it all my wretched cough seems to be getting worse not better. I may begrudgingly have to try and get a doctors appointment next week. So I was feeling better once I had got stuff put in the car to come here and was cheered by some lovely music on radio 3 and the scenery was beautiful, but still with large areas of flooding in some fields. One made me think of "the swans of turalida" (dont think that is the right spelling) as there was a beautiful white swan floating on what looked like a large lake, but it will get a surprise if it comes back later in the year as it was just flood water.

On the way I called to get fuel as I was right down nearly at the empty mark, and there seemed to be a large queue , so expect some people are panic buying , given the situation now. I just keep to my usual routine where possible , but can understand people worrying about getting to work or picking children up etc. Anyway I felt much calmer by the time I got here.

Today I had planned to clean the car in particular inside, after all my muddy adventures last week and look a lot less grubby, but it is very cold and frosty at the moment and doesnt even want to unlock right now, so I am doing things in a different order today, hoping my back may improve after a bit of walking about. So actually quite happy at the moment to be catching up with GN news and listening to radio 3.

Hope the cycling is good this afternoon Mick and you enjoy your chinese.Blue Sapphire hope you have a good day in Valencia and the weather stays dry for you. RosesandLilac, try to take no notice of the comments. You know that your intention is for the good of all and you are doing something worthwhile. Just watch when it is all done and working well the same people will be claiming that they were all for it. I am prepared to listen to critism and consider what people say, but overall my feeling is can I stand in front of the mirror and look at myself seeing that I have done things for the best of intentions and made the effort for good reasons. If that is true then I am satisfied . These days there are far too many people keen to moan and complain and just go against something for no good reason and yet if you asked them to deal with something they would run a mile. Take no notice of such people carping on and delete any messages that upset you. Your friends and we on GN know that you are doing it all for good reasons, so at the moment please concentrate on feeling a bit better and dont let the beggars grind you down! Whiteswan glad all went well with the little dog.Marydoll no wonder you were raging. I would have felt like banging their heads together!! I hope you are feeling a little better now and no doubt Babydoll will lift your spirits if not your energy levels.

Hoping the day improves for all and there is some success whether as simple as an enjoyable coffee or the finishing off of some job you are doing. Enjoy what you can

Good morning from a bright northwest coast.
Art yesterday was good for the companionship, but I’m not keen on painting still life…
DS fixed my mirror to a wall in the front garden and it looks very pretty. He also put a sealant on part of the spare bedroom ceiling, that room gets damp and has three sides to the elements. I’ve got a dehumidifier in there and need to keep it well ventilated.

I’m off soon to a church hall fair in the next village and like to buy home made goods. I’m not a baker myself.

Tonight I’m meeting my friend for a meal in the city at one of our favourite restaurants, going by train. Weirdly, my timetable times and the trains times at the station when I arrive there seem to clash.
Thoughts to all🌺

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where we have a grey sky, it’s cooler and Alexa tells me a showers are forecast.

I had a crying jag yesterday evening (always my worst time around 7pm too many triggering memories) that was so overwhelming it was more like keening for what I have lost.

I went to bed early at 9pm after a mug of restorative peppermint tea, totally shattered and fortunately slept well.
In fact I’ve not long been awake.

I’ve got L’il Miss coming over to keep me company this morning which will be just what I need 🥰 and after lunch I’ve been invited over to dear friends’s house who we’ve known 40^ years.

She messaged me to say I’ll pick you up (I’ve no car anymore I transferred ownership of the heirloom 20y old vehicle to our youngest daughter who plans to part ex it later this year and upgrade - goodness this is turning into a right screed ~ are you still with me or have your eyes glazed over?)

Where was I? Oh yes.
She offered to pick me up and I declined as I can get there very easily almost door to door by bus with my pass too.

I reasoned if I choose not to run a car with all the expense tgat entails (I’ve chosen to keep the apartment in Málaga instead a no-brainer 😊) then I ought not to have my friends using theirs to ferry me about.

Well (I’ve nearly finished, honestly) she said I insist on taking you home. I replied “I thought I’d stay about a week if that okay”

I got this reply 😂😂😂😂😂

Have a good Saturday dear friends xx

A very late good morning from Durham. A glorious start, after a heavy overnight frost. Yesterday was most unpleasant and I almost gave Little Dog’s walk a miss.

What an awful time you’re having R&L. It must be tempting to throw in the towel, or tell the complainers where to get off!
karma my friend was in a similar predicament to you and has now had an electric immersion heater fitted. She said she could manage without her CH, but the lack of hot water was a killer.

Today, I’m taking Little Dog back, collecting DGS2’s laundry, then meeting both DDs and both DGSs for a late lunch/early dinner to do our present swap. It’s sort of midway between my and DD1’s birthdays and of course, DD2’s half birthday! I still have things to wrap, but gifts are now mostly vouchers for various salons/treatments, as requested.

Best wishes to all. X

Stilllearning Sat 07-Mar-26 10:28:48

Morning all, especially FGT2, I truly feel for you.

I have 13 year old DGD5 staying for the weekend, she is still asleep and I have just wakened after an hour or so on the couch after having an earlier cup of tea. We were still making apple crumble at 9o’clock last night and then watched a film.

To be honest I’m taken aback at how tired I am but I do love having her here. It looks lovely outside so I think a trip to her favourite cafe about an hour’s walk outside of town (and probably the bus back!) will be the order of the day.

Good wishes all.

Good morning everyone from overcast Lancashire.

MrB and I have enjoyed a circular walk around the Dock. There are quite a few daffodils flowering now beside the path. My tum seems to have settled, but I am being careful with what I eat and making sure I keep hydrated.

Yesterday I managed to change the bedding, including the duvet cover, all by myself grin. MrB is happy to help but I like to challenge myself. Clean bedding on, newly washed bedding in the airing cupboard.

Glad to hear your DH is recovering Baubles.

As always, thinking of those with troubles in their lives.

Wishing you a good day whatever you’re doing.
