Buenos Dias again from a very sunny Spain! The last few days have been busy with early morning excursions, so haven't had time to post.
However we now have two free days, so am going to have a later breakfast and take it easy today.
Yesterday we were in the lovely city of Cartagena for the day; the weather was fine and showed the city off at her best. The highlight of the day was a visit to the comparatively recently (1988) discovery of a Roman amphitheatre in the city centre, very impressive. It was featured on a Michael Portillo programme in the last few weeks.
Glammagran, I was surprised and delighted to find out that the cruise ship in port was Spirit of Adventure!
We had a delicious lunch overlooking the port.
Photos are of sunrise and sunset from our lovely hotel. And also the Roman amphitheatre.
Wishing all a pleasant day.
Lovely in The Madrid Capital today (Friday) - approx. 20 degrees centigrade.
We have had terrible wet weather in February and for a week in March however, it is possessing a hint of spring !!
Sounds like a lovely sort of a day.

Good afternoon from Surrey. Overcast but no rain - yet!
Good afternoon from the south of Denmark. It rained pitchforks and shovels all morning here and blew a gale just to add to the misery.
Fortunately, I don't have to go out today, and the cats came in agains pdq and have spent most of the day in bed.
I honestly felt tempted to join them, but knew I would be unable to sleep tonight if I did so, instead , I made a wall cupboard for a dolls' kitchen, and repaired the dolls' cooking stove I have had since I was four. No shame to it, that after 70 years it needed a slight repair.
Good morning from Sheffield
Such a sad day for all those affected by the horror in Dunblane .
There seems to be a lot of poorly grans and a lot of grans frustrated by appointments and prescriptions. I hope things get sorted out for you all .
It’s so frustrating. I always feel very sorry for those unable to sort things out for themselves, those that are disabled and those who just aren’t capable of chasing up on appointments etc
The powers that be assume that we are all au fait with computers and how the NHS works and the majority of us aren’t
Take care everyone
Thank you Grandmabatty, I have tears in my eyes now.
Good morning everyone from overcast windy Lancashire.
It was very noisy here last night, with strong winds and heavy rain. Neither of us slept well. MrB and I have had a lovely though shorter walk down the Dock. I need my fresh air!
I have ordered new walking shoes, unfortunately they never last long due to my draggy foot.
As always, thinking of those with troubles in their lives.
Wishing you a good day whatever you’re doing.
Scarpal My thoughts are with you.
Scapa. 🥀
It was a dreadful day. I had colleagues with children there too. I'll never forget their faces when the news came out.
I recall holding a Mothers Day assembly in school during the week of the Dunblane Massacre. The children lit a candle and said a prayer for all those involved. There were many teary eyed mums that day, myself included. Something I will never forget.
I was sitting in my classroom, having my lunch, when we heard the news. I sat and wept.
I have never forgotten, the brave teacher, her pupils and their families.
A late good morning mick and all.
I got up much earlier and started doing jobs now I am sitting in the bed with a large latte contemplating getting ready for the gym.
The wind and rain woke me in the night, of course DH slept through.
Sorry to hear your scan was cancelled Roses
Baubles I am envious of your snow ❄️
Marydoll two year olds, especially little girls are a law unto themselves 🤦♀️
Good morning from Shropshire. After wild weather yesterday with torrential rain most of the day today is sunny with a breeze.
DD is slowly improving🙏🏻
We will collect DGD from school later and stay at their house until DD gets home.No sleepover today as they have a busy weekend planned.
I am so sorry your appointment was cancelled Roses. Can you contact PALS?I have found them very helpful.
Thoughts with all and wishing everyone a good day🦩🌻
Thank you FGT. I didn't want to start a thread on it, but felt it should be acknowledged. One of my colleagues lost her niece that day.
Good morning from a sunny but still windy NE.
Yesterday's weather was dreadful, we had torrential rain during the afternoon and remained windy all day. I decided not to put the bin out last night in case it got blown over, regularly occurrence these days.
Sister and BIL visited after the funeral and I did a shop for essentials.
Late in the evening my elder sister rang from Germany, she said she needed to talk rather than message, I was concerned bearing in mind she has no family to help her. Transpires her cleaner had told her she could no longer work for her and she was upset, mountains and molehills 🙄
Quiet day with a little housework and catch up with some TV.
TIB used to be a DH thing here too, the day he couldn't manage was the beginning of the end.
Thoughts are with all in the same boat.
Have a good day.
GrandmaBatty that was a poignant verse to remember those poor children by after that tragedy. 30 years. 😢
Thinking now of all the souls affected by it.
Good morning everyone from a cold, damp Lancashire.
Thought I would have a nice hot bath, only to stand in freezing cold water. Blinking boiler has packed in again.
So had to get dressed & go downstairs & sort out the boiler as DH is having a rare lie in.
Sorted now, so up to my neck in bubbles.
Just getting ready to go & fill my car before these petrol prices climb even higher.
Oh & get a nice bottle of whiskey for mum as she likes a hot toddy of an evening.
Hope everyone has a good day 😊

But now I am six,
I’m as clever as clever.
So I think I’ll be six
Now and forever.

Remembering those children and their brave teacher in Dunblane 30 years ago today
Good morning from a sunny Durham.
Yesterday we braved the windy weather and took a trip to Brancepeth Castle for a tour. We have visited before for Christmas fairs but never with a guide (who was actually the owner).
It was absolutely fascinating to learn about its history and how important it was, as it's so often overlooked by Durham and Raby. How over the centuries it managed to be saved is amazing. More recently it could easily have been demolished in the 1960's by a housing developer.
For the current owners, Dobson family - background in publishing - it is a Labour of love. They have been in residence since the 1970's and are still in the process of never ending repairs.
Today I'm busy working on a Spring wreath for my mum's graveside. It's knitted so hopefully will withstand the elements.
Wishing all a peaceful day.
Good morning from a damp W Kent. Hairdressers this morning, slightly apprehensive as my usual lady is off for a while and I have been allotted someone I don’t know. A small amount of shopping and a quiet afternoon.
Roses so sorry about your cancelled appointment so many of us know how upsetting that is.
Best wishes
FriedGreenTomatoes2
^I still miss the TIB FGT 5+ years later. It was a turning point, the morning DH couldn’t manage it^
Oh this, exactly Georgesgran. 💔
In fact towards the end I took a surreptitious photo on my phone of Himself with my tea as I knew it would be one of my last. I cannot look at it now. Too sad. I may yet delete it along with many others from 2025. Why torment myself?
Nooooo don’t do that Fried Green , might bring you comfort later on down the line.
Sounds like you had a goodUn there!
My husband bought one of those electronic photo frames, one where you put a disc, of my late sister. I didn’t look at it for nearly two years- glad I have now as it’s got photos of my late dad as well.
It will get easier 😔
Good morning all, from a showery Glasgow, where it is 2°C.
Without meaning to be rude Baubles, you can keep your snow! 😉
What a terrible disappointment Roses. how upsetting for you.
This seems to be the norm, My much needed RA appointment has been cancelled three times. It was supposed to be July 2025, it's now December.2026.
Babydoll was a prime example of the 'terrible twos' yesterday, her behaviour was so defiant.
She never stopped talking at the top of her voice all day, staged a number of sit down protests in Braehead and ran away from both DH and I. I foolishly took off the reins, when she promised to be a good girl.^.
Having discovered, that the disabled loo in Macdonalds had an echo, she made frequent visits.
She sang 'Old McDonald's at the top of voice all the way home and insisted I be a cat for the full journey.
I could see DH's clenched knuckles, grasping the steering wheel. 🤣
I have to confess, I abandoned my principles and bribed her ,
with jelly babies.
The biggest disappointment of all, was I got nowhere near the M&S 70% off sale. 🤬
Today, I will make a quick visit to Sainsbury's and that's it.I had another choking episode during the night, due to my Sjogren's flare I am like a wet rag.
I wish you all the best of days and as always, thinking of all our mountaineers,
