Good morning from a sunny but breezy NE. Rain is forecast in an hour or two and for the rest of the day.
Yesterday morning I received a beautiful floral arrangement in a white wicker basket. It was from DD in Brussels, she always remembers despite it not happening until May in Belgium.
Did nothing in the way of housework as I felt unwell all day, just watched I Swear on Netflix.
Today DS and family are visiting, looking forward to GD playing the piano after dinner and maybe DS playing the guitar or mandolin.
Have a pleasant Mothering Sunday.

Good morning from N. Bucks and where it is dry and maybe the sun will poke through for a while.
A day of pottering for us, maybe a little time in the garden to do a few jobs.
I shall be out for a meal late afternoon with all three of my DDs. Really looking forward to that.
Wishing all a good day with a smile along the way.

Madeleine pain and lack of sleep are debilitating and you are as worthy of a doctor’s time as anyone else. Make that appointment and have at least a good chat about your health conditions. X

Good morning from sunny Leicestershire.

I received two lovely bouquets yesterday having been given more presents and handmade cards from the grandchildren last weekend.
My DS phoned to say the estate agent is coming on Monday to value their house. It made me sad as he loves the house and has worked hard for it.

If I can sit for long enough we may play Scrabble this afternoon.
Roses another bunch for you flowers

Good morning all from a chilly but bright North Leicestershire.

A quiet day in prospect here. Dh will go and collect DS1 to go to the football but they will pop in here on their way past.

I saw DD3 and DGS4 yesterday but won't see any of the others as they have families of their own. I have had some lovely heartfelt cards.

Tartiflette when DH gets home. Easy for me to prep before I relax with the papers.

Have the best day possible everyone.

madeleine my son and grandson were walking through woods near here and came across 'the inside of an old piano' so I'm intrigued in case it has some wires or whatever that I could make into something.

Good morning all from a cold and wet day here on the east coast of Fife. I received a beautiful bouquet of flowers yesterday and an afternoon tea from my son and daughter , they are so good to me I’m really blessed. I’m off to church this morning it’s communion. I better wear my raincoat.
Have a good day my friends you know who you are ❤️

Georgesgran Sun 15-Mar-26 08:24:54

Good morning from a bright, cold Durham, where there’s a chance of rain over lunchtime. I had a lovely day yesterday, with DD2 and DGS2, who helped open my birthday cards. Lots of flowers, so 💐 for Roses. Thank you to those here for my birthday wishes.
It’s a ‘weird’ time, as DD1’s birthday, DD2’s half birthday, my birthday and Mothers’ Day are so close together - we try to combine things, rather than string them out.
Today, I’m meeting DD1 and family for lunch at her nearby Vintage inn - not our first choice, but it’s usually fine.
I’ll start on DD2’s laundry before I go and tackle more when I get home.

Best wishes to all. X

Good morning from another lovely sunny morning. DS and family are coming for lunch today and the DDs will be with their families as they live 200 miles away in opposite directions.

They usually send flowers but I asked them not to do so this year as we are off tomorrow on a coach trip with our local company to Durham for 5 days and I knew that I couldn’t enjoy them at their best. DD1 has just messaged to say she hopes I’ve got her card. I haven’t. We only seem to get post twice a week and nothing here since last Wednesday!

Hope today is a good one for all.

Good morning Mother's Day from Glasgow, where it is 7° C. No'one here calls it Mothering Sunday. I wonder if it is a regional thing.

I spent yesterday in bed, life is such a struggle ar the moment, I feel constantly unwell.
I woke up yesterdayto find DD, standing over me, checking I was alive. 😁
She and SIL had already sent flowers on Friday.

Later on Friday, my lovely DIL and DS arrived with more flowers.
This was her first time out, since her discharge from hospitalk, brought down to visit by DS1. ♥️

DD and SIL arrived yesterday with cakes and lunch, which unfortunately I couldn't face. She had a further surprise for me, a trip to the posh charity shops, when I'm feeling better.
I am spoiled.

Today, we are expecting Babydoll and her parents. I still feel awful, but I will need to make an effort. We are still recovering from Thursday's drama.😍

Marzipan, the last book my SIL bought me was, Lost Railways of the West of Scotland, I have a stash of them.I find it fascinating, discovering lost route.

I hope you feel better GM, it sounds like you have one of those viruses doing the rounds. Plenty of rest is what's required.

I hope Roses is OK.

Baubles, are you celebrating? Like you, as many I have a split personality, when it comes to rugby.

Have a pleasant day folks and a special mention, to those who sadly, cannot celebrate Mother's Day for whatever reason. ♥️
I plan to stay in bed for as long as possible. !

Good morning from a bright sunny Cambridgeshire.

Happy Mother’s Day to everyone💐 It isn’t an easy day for many for lots of reasons and my thoughts are with all those struggling. I will remember my dear mum today it is my sixth year without her but dementia took her away many years earlier.
Lots of lovely memories tho.

I hope everyone has the best day possible 🌸🌷🥰

Good morning all from the Black country.
Quiet day here DS is taking tomorrow off and spending it with me, today he is doing something with the boys and DiL.
Good to see you posting multicolour.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️.

Marydoll Sun 15-Mar-26 08:32:58

Belated birthday greetings, Georgesgran. I am a bit befuddled this morning.

Good to see Multi posting. ♥️

Librachick, did you have a different username? I have been on GN for twelve years and don't recognise your name,

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where its dry and the sun is shining (a little) but Alexa says showers are forecast and the high will only be 10°C, brr.

L’il Miss will be here within the hour as the Boy Wonder has a match with his other team this morning (this boy loves his football). He’s tall, has a slim torso (all the football and training) but is muscular and solid - good attributes for a midfielder.

We will play dominoes, cards and I began teaching her how to play Scrabble yesterday and she loved it! It’s nice to chat away and steer clear of iPad games for a few hours. One good thing us grandmas can do that costs no money is to properly engage and listen to their chatter. It’s a joy really, having time to really do so.

Later I’m invited over for a roast lamb dinner. I shall walk through the park and I think I’ll pick up a bottle of Moët from the larder en route - we’ve decided to have alcohol with this Sunday dinner and I can use some of that money I received from the jeweller!

WhiteSwan63 Sun 15-Mar-26 08:37:45

Good morning from the east coast and it’s dry and bright.

Yesterday we had a lovely day with the DGDs. I took GD2 to her swimming lesson while DD prepared her party in the church hall. GD told me how well I’d done getting her to her swimming lesson and knowing the way. She said ‘Grandma my mummy will be so proud of you’ I wiped a tear away. She is just so sweet.

I may have to take mums little dog to the vet this morning as I got a pannicky call yesterday to say she has been licking the little sock the vet put on her paw on Thursday and when mum checked she had opened part of her wound. She was due for the stitches out tomorrow but we may need to take her this morning I’m waiting to hear from mum. I can see her getting bandaged up again for another few days.

I expect the DC and GC to pop in today and bring some flowers and they will be so appreciated. I must get our porridge on now.

Wishing a day with a moment of joy for everyone today 🌼💐

Jaxjacky Sun 15-Mar-26 08:53:17

Morning from a bright S Hants, rain due later, yesterday was glorious.
Two brilliant rugby games yesterday, particular the one last night.
I’m expecting both children to call in at some point today, I’ve said no fancy flowers, a bunch of daffs suits me thanks.
We may go out for a drive later once they’ve been, gammon shanks for dinner.
Have a pleasant day all.

Good morning from Durham.

Afternoon tea at DD1 yesterday was a lovely treat. Today she is being spoilt by her own DC.

DS and DD2 expected later today. I never for one moment take the time with them for granted and really feel for anyone estranged from their loved ones.

We're off to the cemetery shortly with my homemade Mother's Day wreath. I'm really quite pleased with how it's turned out. Her youngest GGD created the pom poms which I think is a really nice touch.

Wishing all a peaceful day.

Grandmabatty Sun 15-Mar-26 09:12:04

Dd messaged me to wish me Happy Mother's Day. The boys, just turned 4 and 7 brought her breakfast in bed. Dsil is working. She got a bowl of blueberries (she doesn't like them) a tub of sweets and a cup of squash, all lovingly presented on a chopping board. They were very pleased with themselves 😂

SusieBQ Sun 15-Mar-26 09:29:46

That’s so clever Annapops, a lovely wreath.

grandMattie Sun 15-Mar-26 09:33:56

*MD, Mothering Sunday is traditionally the 4th Sunday of Lent, where servants were allowed to go home. Also where one went to the “mother church” where you were baptised. Little to do with actual parentage.
In many other countries,Mir is celebrated in other months - in France, it’s the last Sunday of May.

Marydoll Sun 15-Mar-26 09:54:13

GM, I am aware of that. However, I was commenting on the fact, that it is not a term used here. I have never heard anyone use that.
Commercialism has taken over.

Stilllearning Sun 15-Mar-26 10:28:00

Happy Mothers Day everyone, with special thoughts those for whom it brings sadness as well as joy x

jeffreykearney6 Sun 15-Mar-26 10:44:23

You're welcome 😊

Good morning from a wet Mother’s Day in the northwest coast.
Flying DD arrived from the south yesterday with flowers etc., and is cooking tonight. I have such a heavy cold I can’t taste anything, so am just nursing it and waiting for it to go…
Thoughts to all🌺
