Good Morning Michael , it seems dry here too , but the wind is starting
I’ve been playing scrabble , but I’d better have another go at sleeping or I’ll be sleeping during Mass !

Good morning everyone, I've not posted since 2013/14. I've been on my daughter's rollercoaster since then.

I hope I'm still welcome here. Lots have happened in these years. Obviously, not to my benefit / liking.

I will need to catch up with the lovely people had/have similar predicaments as myself. Also with new participants in the same boat. LC xx 💜

Good morning from Bristol and happy Mothering Sunday to one and all.
How lovely for you to see your sister, Mick, enjoy her company while she is with you.
I had an extremely quiet day yesterday, doing very little. My tummy felt ok for the first half but then the bloating, nausea, etc., came back for the rest of the day. I think I’ll try to see a GP as this has gone on for long enough.
I did wash and hand the bed linings on the line, which felt great.
I’m off to DD’s church this morning as Iris is doing something for the service - her mother is banned and her (male) curate is taking charge apparently. DGD1 is now getting too self conscious at 16 to expose herself to such things.
I’ll have lunch with them then probably go home soon after.as they usually have a million things arranged.
I hope you all have a good day.

Good morning and Happy Mothering Sunday to you all.

I expect you’re enjoying seeing your relatives, Mick.

It sounds like you have lovely plans, grandMattie, so it’s a real shame you aren’t fully well. Perhaps the distraction of being with your family will help.

I have received thoughtful gifts and cards from my offspring in this country, but my DD1 in Australia never manages to remember because it’s on a different day over there.

Yesterday, I walked round to the pharmacy before going to the coffee morning at church. On the way, I encountered two holidaymakers who were trying to make sense of bus timetable. I stopped to help them and in conversation discovered that they live in the same town where I spent the last part of my teaching career!

A blessed Sunday to you all. 🦩💐✝️🥰🦩

Good morning from a drizzly, dark Cornwall. As a change from drizzle yesterday we had a fierce hailstorm, very strange.

Been reading my eldest son's Mother's Day present which came in the post yesterday as he's away. A History of Buses in Devon and Cornwall! Very niche, very me. 😂😂

My other son and I will go exploring later to find the abandoned piano in the woods. As one does. His fault for asking me what I wanted to do today. 🤭 I want to avoid all the places where people gather today as everywhere will be crowded but there's a Starbucks on the A30 which we will go to later.

Church before all of that, to meet the new people I was introduced to at the home group last week and enjoy the lively service.

Good morning from s somerset, cool and cloudy today

It was an inspiring, lovely spring day yesterday, I sat out a lot and read a lot, in my sun trap garden. Today I have ordered some more pollinosan as my nose is a bit blocked, pollen season has started

I made soup, lots of yeasted buns and several small crumbles and I made good progress with my knitting. A lovely day and to crown it all, the bumble bees are back

Pottering for me today, aiming to keep the kitchen nice and tidy, floor clean and so on. No onerous work, just keeping on top of things

cornergran Sun 15-Mar-26 06:35:51

Morning Mick, morning All from a chilly corner of Somerset. The wind picking up and rain forecast by mid morning

Yesterday was wonderfully sunny. Our home breathed easier when the car was loaded for the tip run. We wandered along the coast for a short walk on an almost deserted beach and then enjoyed some lunch. Shopping accomplished we arrived home to find some very pretty flowers waiting.

After a very gentle start I’ll potter around, there will be paella later (my choice) and I’m sure some phone chats. There will be very mixed emotions for me today and I’ll keep busy.

Hope you get through the day without too much discomfort grandmattie.

Best wishes to all. Have the best day you can everyone.

Good morning from a cloudy, wet Malta where the weather and my mood are both very gloomy.

I sat up to watch the semi finals last night and am not a happy bunny as Alcaraz was beaten fair and square by Medvedev.
The final tonight won’t be as exciting to watch but I will be rooting for Sinner.

Happy Mother’s Day to all, we don’t have it here until second Sunday of May so no celebrations today.

DS and his gf are back late tonight so Winston will be going home tomorrow I expect. I’m sad about it, he’s been such good company.

No idea what I shall do with my day, probably sit under the cat and wallow.

Wishing you all a lovely day.💐

Good morning from Shropshire.A day of sunshine and showers forecast.

A lovely sunny day yesterday.DH spent the day in the garden while I caught up with laundry and spent too much time setting up my new iPad🤯

Wishing everyone a good day🦩🌻

RosesandLilac Sun 15-Mar-26 06:46:54

Good morning from south Glos, a pink sunrise earlier, glimpsed from my bedroom window.
Yesterday I did a bit of tidying in the garden, it was so nice to be out in the sunshine, plenty more to do. The trees in the woods behind us are coming into bud, there was birdsong everywhere, so wonderful to hear.
My lovely florist friend delivered the bouquet I’d ordered for myself, it’s beautiful, pale pastels and my favourite wax flower that has a delicate perfume.
I don’t have anything much happening today, I very much doubt I’ll hear from the DCs sadly. I try not to let it get to me but…..
Hope you all have a lovely day 🌹

Good morning Michael and all GNs. The sun is breaking through in South Yorkshire but it’s cold at the moment and rain is expected this afternoon.

Both DS and DiL came yesterday - I was only expecting DS. We had a nice lunch in a pub overlooking our valley which look lovely in the sunshine, and then spent the afternoon indoors as no-one except me felt like a walk. It was lovely to see them though.

Today DD and her menfolk are taking me out for lunch. It’s an early booking to avoid the Mother’s Day rush so I shall skip breakfast today. As breakfast is a meal I have to force down anyway, it will be no hardship.

Have the best day you can, folks.

Good morning from Sheffield

We very much enjoyed the planetarium yesterday. To say it was basically a tent they had done it very well.

The meal however at Turtle Bay was awful. We waited an hour for our main course Then it came with big gaps, so my friend got her goat curry but didn’t get her rice until ten minutes later. My husbands meal they didn’t do at all. My steak was so overcooked it was like a piece of leather, they cooked another one for me, so my food arrived 30 minutes after everyone had finished.
Very disappointed as we had told our friends how nice it was there.
They did adjust the bill and were apologetic but we really didn’t enjoy it at all .

Today I have a spa morning with my daughter and then we will visit one of our sons later this afternoon , so hopefully a better day

Take care everyoneflowers

Grandmabatty Sun 15-Mar-26 07:14:42

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 6° and pouring rain. I slept fairly well for me with only one dose of painkillers.
Yesterday I caught up with my 'breakfast' friend. We always have a good time. The service is great too. Back home, I did some housework before the tesco delivery arrived. Another lovely young man who was both helpful and charming. Later I watched a series on Netflix about dinosaurs which I'm enjoying.
Today I'm having afternoon tea at dds. She's invited my aunt too, who is like a second mum to her. The boys will be there too as dsil is working. I don't expect ds to especially remember that its Mothers Day but that doesn't bother me. I've never been a big fan of it. Tonight's dinner will be steak in peppercorn sauce. Have a good day all

Happy Mothering Sunday from a bright, sunny but chilly S E Essex 🌼🌸🌺

luluaugust Sun 15-Mar-26 07:26:18

Good morning from a sunny W Kent. Phone call to DB first thing and then DD2 is popping by before lunch with DS and family. Hoping to speak to DD1 at some point as her DC are not at round at present
Best wishes to all

Gagagran Sun 15-Mar-26 07:30:24

Good Morning all from a dry but chilly central south coast. It was 0 degrees on the garden thermometer an hour ago but should warm up when the sun gets going, if the forecast is correct.

I planted some marigold seeds in an egg box yesterday in the hopes of germination and raising seedlings on the window sill. I can then cut the box into individual pockets and plant them directly into the garden. I am interested in seeing how this works and will do more if it does.

Heard from DD now safely in Quito, which was a relief as I was apprehensive, as always, when my offspring are on long haul flights. DS always gives me flight numbers so I can track the flight but DD won't do that as "it worries you more".

Hope you feel better as the day wears on GM and manage your busy day without too much difficulty.

Our usual quiet Sunday is planned, with laundry (mainly cycling gear) top of the agenda and no doubt a phone call from DS at some point. It's his birthday tomorrow and the gift I sent him from Etsy has already arrived.

Thinking of all our GNs with sorrows, worries or difficulties of any kind. May the day bring some ease and comfort.

madeleine45 Sun 15-Mar-26 07:30:25

Good morning Mick and all GN's on a slightly breezy but dry and very cold morning in North Yorkshire. The sky is clear and I can see a couple of birds walking along the large branches of the tree. A happy mothering sunday to everyone, hope you have a lovely day and are able to be in touch with family everywhere.

Have of course been awake for a long time, but yet again woke with awful cramp and am still struggling. I am going to have to try and get a doctors appointment I think, as I cannot think of anything else I can do to cope with this and the worst is the lack of sleep. It affects so much else if you dont get some sleep. I have a split lip, which will not heal and just cant get rid of the cough either. Dont sound much and with people having to wait so long for an appointment have felt it unfair to take up an appointment for what sounds very trivial. I try to keep myself in the best way I can and know that these minor sounding things show me that I need to be careful as am likely to be vunerable to catching any bugs going round. If I get any other things it tends to upset my diabetic medication which I manage quite well normally.Well the way things are at the moment , by the time I get an appointment it all may have cleared up by itself. Hope so.

All my plans for yesterday were changed but for the better! I was expecting a friend to come and visit and was just trying to decide what to get out of the freezer when they rang and unfortunately were not well, so we cancelled the day and hope to get together later. That meant I had nothing planned and so thought it will be a day to catch up with things from my messed up week, get ironing done and paperwork etc etc. However the morning was brightening up and the forecast then said that they expected a sunny morning followed by heavy showers and very windy in the afternoon and worse to come for sunday. I decided that in that case I would get out in the sunshine and make the most of it.

Rang another friend to see what she was doing, as she lives alone and at the moment has no car. She also had plans to do jobs but they could easily be abandoned for the morning she said and so , of course , where was the place I love and always want to visit but Swaledale. She was very happy to go along with that and as she normally is on the bus only sees those routes and not the little roads and the wilder places that I tend to go to. I havent got my picnic box sorted and now the new buggy has to go in the boot of the car am having to work out how to use the back seat for coffee making etc, but hastily stuck mugs and all the coffee things with some crisps and my big polar jacket , mac and spare jumper to cover all eventualities into the back and off we went , stopping to get the Yorkshire Post on the way.

It was a perfect time to be out in the car. Sadly with all that wind and rain and poor weather, the countryside had rather reverted to winter mode. No sign of any catkins on the trees and most trees were winter bare with no sign of any green on hedges or bushes. I still love seeing all the different seasons and you can see the actual lovely outline of the trees in winter mode. Some were their own natural shape and others had obviously been pollarded in the past, or showed the prevalent wind direction by leaning to one side.

A lot of flooding in the fields but no major problem on the roads but rivers very high everywhere. The flood lake was back on the big field as we passed but no swan there as we passed by. We twisted and turned our way up minor roads through wensleydale and then up over the Buttertubs, with wonderful views everywhere. Snow over Penhill and many other places in the distance. Deceivingly lovely sunshine through the windows , yet if you opened the window or stopped to take a picture it was freezing outside and you were pleased to get back into the car.

Wonderful drive all the way up to Keld, seeing lapwings , pheasants, gulls and the wonderful haunting sound of the curlews that is so much part of the area. Heather had not been to some of the tiny byways and really enjoyed it. She is keen on mosses and lichens and in various places her phone came out to take good pictures of special kinds that we saw. We finally came to my very favourite place with views up and down the dale and with a bit of faffing about got a much needed and enjoyed coffee and sat enjoying everything, sheep, birds and with the occasional noisy motor bike passing by, but mostly local traffic and cyclists whizzing by to take the challenge of the buttertubs.

Despite the forecast, the sun stayed and the wind blew and we then set off down Swaledale, at our own pace, and I was able to point out the chapels we rehearsed in, footpaths through the meadows for later in the year and stopping for lovely views as we wanted. There was still a lot of flooding and standing water which shows how waterlogged the meadows are still. The weather still held and we stopped at the Bike place near fremington where they have a good cafe. It was of course extremely busy with not only the usual bikers but lots of families making it a good meeting place. I cant sit on a stool or chair with no back to it , and it was so full I had to ask two ladies if we might share their table and they were fine about it, so sat with much relief. Then we made our way home again via the little byways that I knew and avoided all the town centres and the weekend traffic. So a very happy day and we were so pleased we had gone and made the most of it.

Of course no fairies had been here doing the jobs I had slovenly left undone, so today I plan to stay in, catch up with some of the many jobs , enjoy my music and read more of the Yorkshire Post. I didnt get a card from my son in the post yesterday, but with the mess the post is in at the moment no doubt will get one next thursday!! I expect he will ring later on and we can catch up with family news. Am so glad we had such a lovely day yesterday and whilst I hope all families have a lovely get together it is not a day to try to go for sunday lunch anywhere. All I really want is not to have more flipping cramp today.!!

How nice for you to have your sister with you Mick and hope the weather stays dry for you. Hope you can have a good time with your family grandMattie and are able to get a doctors appointment soon. Marzipan, I am with you about avoiding crowds and am intrigued with the abandoned piano in the woods. Do tell more? Is it the latest in the awful flytipping epademic, or taken their for secret assignations between the pianist and a solo singer? Sounds intriguing , perhaps a british version of the islands where planes used to drop things , I think in the war, and the people believed that all these things were sent for them and watch the sky for more presents? Karmalady hope you enjoy your gentle day.

Today I look back on so many different Mothering sundays, from being so proud that I had made my mother a cup of tea by myself in my days as a brownie, to my sons lovely little homemade cards that I still have to remind me of those days, to one glorious sunny and windy day when we were able to go out on a first sailing of the year, and that wonderful feeling of the wind in your face and the sound of the water rippling by and the sails filling. I hope everyone can enjoy their day, whatever they are doing and remember happy times in the past with precious loved ones. Wishing you all a lovely day

Gingster Sun 15-Mar-26 07:31:02

Good morning all and a happy Mothering Sunday to us all.🫶🏻.

Your post made me sad Rosesandlilac. Enjoy your beautiful flowers and treat yourself to whatever you love to do. 💐. It’s only another day.

Dd and DGD will come for a roast dinner and ds1 and DIL will come this afternoon for tea and cake. DS2 will phone shortly .,He gave me chocs and a card last weekend. He’s also ordered me a bowls trolley. They’re getting too heavy to carry from and to my car, so more useful than a 💐.

I mowed our tiny lawn yesterday while Dh sat in the sun. It was warm and still but when I walked the dog, it was decidedly chilly and breezy.

I hope you all have a lovely day, whether or not you celebrate .
We all deserve a medal 🌟

Redcar Sun 15-Mar-26 07:35:30

Good morning from a sunny, frosty mid Essex. Signs of an overnight shower and more showers forecast for today. I changed the bedclothes and washed them, then decided to cut the grass in the back garden. It looks so much better now. My friend would have done it for me when he had time, but i didn’t want to wait for him!
Both DDs will come over at lunchtime, bringing the 11 year old and littlest with them. Their OH’s will take the 7 year olds to their Kung fu grading tests at the same time. So I must clear the dinner table of the piles of papers, and have a general tidy and vacuum.
I hope you feel better today grandmattie there are a lot of nasty bugs going around at the moment.

marzipan an interesting day ahead for you!

melanie disappointing that your meal at Turtle Bay was so poor.

Thinking of all the poorlies and those who are in distress, and hope that today isn’t too difficult for you.

Have the best day you can everyone.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sun 15-Mar-26 07:39:20

Morning all from West Oxfordshire and Happy Mothering Sunday to those who celebrate.🌹🌹🌹

Elder son and granddaughter went back to Kew yesterday leaving tulips for me. Younger son sent a large box of daffodils (he always uses M&S and they never disappoint) and daughter arrived with chocolate. I am meeting younger son in London next week. I haven’t seen him since just before Christmas. Anyway, today OH, me and daughter are going out for lunch. I couldn’t get a table until 2.15 pm! Before that I will go to the smallest church in the Benefice.

Have a good day everyone.

brook2704 Sun 15-Mar-26 07:41:45

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s dry just now but there’s some grey clouds around
I’m looking forward to a video call with DS soon and then later DD2 and family are calling round so it’ll be busy but good to see them
Rosesandlilac 💐
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings

NannyJan53 Sun 15-Mar-26 07:42:35

Good morning from a cloudy Black Country, after a gorgeous sunny day yesterday.

Popped in to my friends yesterday for a chat, and give her two books back she lent me. She promptly gave me two others.

Today we are off to Brother & SIL's for lunch for Mothers Day. DD and DGD2 are picking up Mum on the way, SIL and DGD4 are going to visit his Mum in her care home. It will be good also to see my Niece who is here for the weekend from London.

Welcome LibraChick, I don't recognise your name, but I didn't join GN until I retired in 2017.

Hoping you start feeling a little better today gM

Wishing you all the best day possible.

glammagran Sun 15-Mar-26 07:45:05

Good morning all.

What a glorious sunny day yesterday was, I thought the forecast had said poor weather was on the cards.

We went to Lacock yesterday with DD2 and the kids. It was very busy there unsurprisingly. I got a card and gifts including 2 hand painted vases from the GD3 and GS2. SinL was left at home as they have completely gutted their bedroom and en-suite, moving their bed temporarily into the downstairs office. DD1 wanted to meet up halfway between us but I said to leave it for now as everywhere will be packed.

Will make a lamb tagine later for dinner. Have a good day everyone.
