Good morning from Sheffield

I’m late this morning.
I went out early to meet a friend for coffee. A very nice time we had too

Some grans with health worries and upsetting news this morning. My thoughts are with you all

My legs and back held up yesterday on my bike ride. It was lovely to get out on the bike again and my back is extremely good this morning, perhaps the exercise did it good?

So I’m just having a bit of lunch and then I’ll be working this afternoon.

Take care of everyoneflowers

Blossoming Mon 23-Mar-26 11:20:00

Marydoll, sadly the monsters look just like the rest of the world. There are some truly horrible things coming to light recently. I hope you have a restful day flowers

Blossoming Mon 23-Mar-26 11:16:37

Good morning everyone from overcast Lancashire.

It’s quite pleasant out, warmer than yesterday. MrB and I have enjoyed our usual walk around the dock. These beautiful white daffodils are growing in abundance along the roadside behind the boatyard. I’m sure they’re not native but lovely nonetheless.

As always, thinking of those with troubles in their lives.

Wishing you a good day whatever you’re doing.

Good Morning from a grey Co Armagh , it’s chilly too , but yesterday was unexpectedly pleasant ,
I was let loose with the pruning! And I nipped out sweet pea
All looks a bit baldy this morning!

MD I’m sure you feel so betrayed

Thoughts for all the sadness our friends are experiencing

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 23-Mar-26 09:10:23

A very good morning everyone from south Manchester. I slept well I think I was exhausted by the outpouring of grief yesterday here on my own. You know the type of anguish where you grab a cushion, howl and rock to and fro? That was me.

However this morning I feel so much calmer again. I have a nicely busy day of pleasant events to look forward to as well.

Brunch with the older brother of Himself (my wingman these past three years) and his lovely wife. She told me he will be 80 next year which surprised me.

Then early afternoon I have the chair yoga class which to be honest I enjoyed far better than I thought I would. Stretching and movements good for the upper body.

Finally I shall make an early doors evening meal before going next door but two for 🍷and a weekly catch up with my neighbours who happen to be long standing friends of many years duration. How surprised and delighted were we when they bought in this development a year or so before Himself was diagnosed. Their being so close by reassures me should I need help with anything now I’m on my own. x

GrannyGravy13 Mon 23-Mar-26 08:52:39

Marydoll how horrible for you, your family and those who knew this person, I feel for their victim 🤬

hollysteers Mon 23-Mar-26 08:39:21

Good morning from Sunnyside sandhills northwest coast. Yesterday I looked at new music and a few household jobs, but my heavy cold has left a cough and I didn’t go out in the evening to a friend’s open mic as I felt tired. Instead, caught up with old documentaries on YouTube which I find rather fascinating.

More music study today for the music club tomorrow and it feels much colder.
Sad news Grandmabatty and thoughts to all🌺

Jaxjacky Mon 23-Mar-26 08:32:27

Morning from an overcast S Hants.
How very sad Grandmabatty that poor family.
Your granddaughter is a ⭐️ Ashcombe well done her.
Go gently Roses that sounds a big job to tackle in one go, maybe stages so you don’t get too puffed.
We had a quiet day yesterday, MrJ did win in the meat draw at our local and I had a garden wander.
Voluntary phone today, hopefully not too busy, I’ll try and fit in a walk, jacket may be required.

Good morning from a brightening Suffolk after another lovely day yesterday. Such sad news in a few posts today reminding me of the difficulties some people have to cope with, often for a lifetime.

I have reading to do for my monthly meeting although, for some reason, this week’s will be the second one this month. Must be something to do with the Easter holidays I suspect. I’ll probably use this as a reason( excuse) to leave the pile of ironing for another day.

Gingster Mon 23-Mar-26 08:28:59

Good morning all . Chilly here in Essex.

A busy day yesterday with plant/shrub buying, gardening and visiting my brother in hospital. I was pleased to see him smiley and chatty and out of pain. He’ll be there for a few more days , hopefully back to his ‘normal’ self. 🙏.

Today I have Music Club this afternoon , always full of fun and singing. £1 for two hours of enjoyment and another 50p for tea and biscuits. The U3A ! 🌟.

Grandmabatty* such sad news 🙏
Ash troublefree journey 🤞.
Madeleine I do hope you find your BP machine, it’s so frustrating isn’t it!
Gramaretto a shock for your friend, and you. 🥀.

Take care everyone and u hope you all have a’good’ day. 🪻

Grammaretto Mon 23-Mar-26 08:28:34

Good news about your DH Baubles ☺️
But dreadful for you Marydoll to feel so betrayed.
((Hugs))

WhiteSwan63 Mon 23-Mar-26 07:55:47

Good morning everyone from the east coast.
I am sitting here surrounded by Easter decorations and it’s so colourful. The DGDs came with DD after gymnastics for lunch so they helped put them up. I’m sure DGS will love seeing them after school today.

Yesterday DH went up the ladders to chop the tops off the eucalyptus trees. They can easily get away from us with their height. I brought lots in the house to put in vases. It all went in the garden bin luckily so no need to go to the tip.
I have had two more migraines since Thursday so that’s four in three days it’s so strange it’s happening. The only thing that’s changed with me is that I’ve been taking marine collagen powder in coffee for a week or so. I am going to stop taking it for a few days to see if they go. Even in times of heavy stress I’ve never had them like this.
If they carry on after this week I’ll go to the drs. I will also get my eyes tested early if they carry on.

Sending special thoughts to those suffering with illness, stress and sadness. 🎉
Hope today brings moments of joy🌸

Marydoll Mon 23-Mar-26 07:48:57

Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is 2°C.

What dreadful news GMB, your poor friend. 💐

I have been shocked to hear that someone, I have known for over thirty years and whom I considered a friend, has been convicted of a serious sexual offence, he will probably die in prison. He has destroyed his life, but more so that of his poor victim.

I feel betrayed and heartbroken, that he has fooled us all and hidden this very dark side of his soul. It is so awful, that no-one can talk about it, not even DH and I.
I cannot sleep for thinking about it.

I have a few jobs to do at church, then a gentle day is planned, apart from the school runs. Our days are very restricted at the moment.

I am suffering the effects of, what I thought was some gentle gardening yesterday. My already painful joints are protesting.

I wish you all a good day and best wishes to all the mountaineers.
The school run beckons, I need to get going.

kittylester Mon 23-Mar-26 07:44:04

Good morning all from a cloudy North Leicestershire.

We had a lovely day yesterday with Dd3 and Co. Loads of chatter, news etc, ALL the food disappeared and the 'our' team won their match. DS2 arrived just after they left. We slept well.

Today I am going shopping - I need new underwear and I want to find a new perfume.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Gagagran Mon 23-Mar-26 07:41:33

Good Morning all from the central south coast. 2 degrees on the garden thermometer first thing. We have high, light cloud but are promised more sunshine today albeit colder.

I have ironing on my to do list then my DH has booked a free haircut in my in-house salon. Well, that's actually in the kitchen with the clippers. I can never work out why his hair is so thick and grows so fast at the back of his head but refuses to do more than sprout some wisps on top.

Sad stories of loss here this morning and made me think of my cousin whose 12 year old son died of an asthma attack, in her arms. My son, was the same age and also an asthma sufferer so I was very anxious about him too, for a long time. Do we ever stop worrying about our children? Life can be very hard. My cousin has never been the same since.

May today bring some ease and comfort to all in need.

brook2704 Mon 23-Mar-26 07:40:27

Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve light grey clouds and it feels colder
So sorry to hear such sad news about your friends son grandmabatty
We enjoyed a really good weekend away, the weather was good, a bit chilly at times but it stayed dry. The hotel was lovely, very friendly and relaxing with good food and service. We did some sightseeing visiting Dunnotter Castle on Saturday and Balmoral on Sunday. It’s back to routine today with a volunteering session this afternoon and some food shopping
Well done to your DGD Ash and safe travels home, hope you can still manage your trip away Marzipan
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

glammagran Mon 23-Mar-26 07:37:12

Good morning from a chillier Wiltshire. I was woken up at 5:15 by 2 bombers going back to Fairford. They weren’t directly overhead but still loud.

DH did a deep clean of the conservatory yesterday while it was still sunny if not particularly warm. He put everything he could in the garden. School pickup and dinner with the GCs today. Drop off at 18:30.

I’m so terribly sorry about your friend’s son GB. What a tragedy. Hope you are feeling less breathless Roses especially if you are tackling an enormous rose bush. I’m very happy you are able to leave the house Jax and get out a little more. I’m hardly surprised you are being so cautious.

Have a good Monday all.

Susan56 Mon 23-Mar-26 07:34:23

Good morning from Shropshire.Another dry day forecast.

Yesterday I was pleased with how much we achieved in the house and garden.I still don’t feel 100% after being so ill last year and didn’t think we would accomplish so much in a day!I feel rubbish today so apart from going for my B12 top up not much planned.

How horrendous for your friend cornergran. Her daughter must be distraught as must you.I feel so upset for you all.

My condolences to Grandmabatty and Grammaretto💐

Wishing everyone the best day possible 🦩🌻

Good morning from cool and dry South Lanarkshire.

So sorry to hear about your friend’s son gmbatty.

Belated congratulations to your DGD Ash.

Sunday cafe was very busy yesterday, it’s lovely to see everyone chatting and enjoying the get together.

DH drove the short distance to the church and back yesterday and felt absolutely fine. It was his first drive after his surgery.

Today is definitely ironing day, I’ve let the pile grow so it needs to be tackled.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Redcar Mon 23-Mar-26 07:25:46

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s dry with light cloud and only 3 degrees. Yesterday was a nice day, lots of sunshine and some warmth. DD2 came over in the morning, bringing littlest with her. DD1, family and dog came at lunchtime bringing MacDonalds food with them. They returned my lawn edging tools, so I will attempt to make the garden look neater this week.

ash you must be so proud of your DGD. I hope you have a safe and trouble free journey home today.

grandmabatty how sad for your friend.

roses take care cutting back your rampant rose!

Thinking as always of those who are struggling with life’s challenges and hoping that things improve soon.

Have a good Monday everyone.

Grammaretto Mon 23-Mar-26 07:06:38

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. It's chilly in the mornings but we had a good sunny afternoon.

My friend who lives nearby and often pops in, came to tell me her DH had died unexpectedly at the weekend. He was a great character, one of a kind. All very sad.
My job was to tell some of the people we know.

Sorry to hear about your friend's son Grandmabatty

My friend who has been here for a week has to go home today.

My DGD who had her appendix out is much better. I'm so glad.

I'm going to another DGD's school concert tonight in Edinburgh. She plays the flute in the orchestra.

Well done your ballerina Ashcombe! 👏👏

Hoping everyone has something to look forward to.

Good morning Mick and all GN's from a very cold, still, grey morning in North Yorkshire. Definitely winter clothes weather and if it is this cold I shall go out in the car , as I think it is too bitter to go on the yellow peril.

Yesterday I had intended to go out for a couple of bits, but never left the flat. Once I had got started, I just carried on with the search for the missing blood pressure machine, and combined it by being quite efficient as I then had 3 bags with me. One was for real rubbish to go in the bin, one was for recycling stuff and the third was for everything that was found in the wrong place to remove and sort later. It was a very efficient way of dealing with things, so that I didnt have to keep toing and froing for small amounts.

At the same time I had put washing out to dry early on, and for a change of job a bit later did the cashmere sweaters, and got them out on the line too. I stuck with the job in hand and had some smoked haddock for lunch , rather than doing the cooking I had intended, as while I felt able to continue I needed to carry on. So I had radio 3 to keep me going as I plodded through high up cupboards, carefully getting up the steps - which fortunately are very light - to reach the top ones. On the plus side, I am pleased to have sorted quite a lot of things out, but still no sign of the machine, which was really the major reason, so today I am going to have to contact the doctors and explain why I havent been keeping the checks and see if they can lend me a machine perhaps, or she will have to wait until I find mine before I can do as she asks.

One thing I have now resolved is that I need to insist that the cleaners check with me before putting things anywhere and that I know what is where, They have done a good job in general but it is the odd bits and pieces that I found in unexpected places , and it can make me so cross when I cant find things and think it is me or they are lost.

So I must carry on to at least finish checking one room and be able to see things in a more organised manner to show for all my efforts. As it is so very cold this morning it wont be an effort to stay in. The mountain of ironing awaiting my attention will have to wait for a bit longer, but I need to make a lamb curry and a beef casserole from the meat I got on saturday and then they can provide tonights meal and also some to go into the freezer for later. Well that is the plan, not necessarily the end result!

I kept on with my sorting, with stops for my back, and reading the Yorkshire post for a break. Was very virtuous in ignoring my new books that I am itching to read and look through, but they will be a pleasure to enjoy later I hope. The only slight negative at the moment is that as I get a cupboard or drawer sorted they then get closed , so that whilst I know that I have done well, the room still looks awful as the tidied bits are hidden and the bags of stuff to sort out are on the floor etc.

I felt a bit fed up not finding the machine, it was expensive and it just niggles anyway as I used to pride myself on knowing where I had put things and I see from this effort that there are lots of things that I have put away "for now" which never got dealt with and need to try harder to do things correctly in the first place or have a bag perhaps to put things into until I feel able to do things properly. However I decided to stop and enjoy watching The other Miss Bennett to cheer the day. I enjoyed it very much, and it was a very good switch off from the days effort. She is very good in the part I think and I remembered her playing Sister Francis I think she was called in Call the Midwife, so she is having some good parts and no doubt we shall see more of her in the future.

This morning I plan to throw out the rubbish, return things to where they belong and do the bits of housework before having another bash at the sorting out and hope to have checked all one room completely. As I am going through things I am also writing down little bits that I need to get sorted, such as a better more robust picture hanger so that I can put up a larger picture that is languishing against the wall , waiting to be hung, finally sort out the annoying string on the blind, etc. I am rarely in this mode these days so need to make the most of it! As I look out the sky is lighter but it is still very cold and no sign of the squirrel , just a couple of pigeons pecking about on the ground and then wandering along the bare branches of the tree prospecting for nest sites.

Hope your meals arrive early Mick so that you can get off on your trip to town. Hope you find something interesting to do today grandMattie. Grandmabatty, how sad for your friend, and how helpless we feel to offer any words or comfort at such times. I hope that being with your grandchildren for a little while will be a comforting thing for you today. Marzipan what a great photo and such a lovely reminder of a happy time. Sounds as though you had a good time and hope that you can get your medicine quickly to allow you to get off early to "foreign " parts.

Well time to begin todays efforts and hope that I dont run out of this rare efficiency mode before the jobs are done. I wish you all a positive and pleasant day, whether it is getting jobs done or meeting friends and family and enjoying time together. Have a good day

Good morning from a misty W Kent.
Grandmabatty so sorry about your friend’s son
My lovely cleaner should come this morning and I have plenty of ironing to do. I also need to get a bed made up for DB arriving later in the week.
Best wishes

cornergran Mon 23-Mar-26 06:50:40

Morning Mick, morning All. Should be a decent day if cooler for our corner of Somerset.

Had some worrying news about our friend yesterday. It is believed she was the subject of inappropriate behaviour in her room at the Home, a visitor to the Home involved. SSD/Home management will begin an investigation today. Our goddaughter is as you can imagine beside herself.

On a more cheerful note our friends arrived safe and sound, we chatted non stop and it seems meal one failed to poison anyone. Always a relief grin. We’ll be off out today, as it looks to be sunny, perhaps head along the coast for a while.

Such sad news grandmab, my thoughts are with everyone.

Best wishes to all, have the best day you can everyone.

BlueSapphire Mon 23-Mar-26 06:49:24

Good morning everyone from an overcast and grey Northampton, 6°C at the moment.

Back to yoga this morning, and looking forward to a catch-up over coffee afterwards.

Then this afternoon our monthly chat and coffee with neighbours; it was moved from morning to afternoon to suit one ex-neighbour who can no longer make mornings only for her to cancel a couple of days ago. We go the extra mile to accommodate her exact needs, but then she always has some excuse as to why she can't make it. We are not pandering to her again....

I managed to cut the back grass yesterday afternoon, but was exhausted afterwards; I collapsed onto the sofa with a tea and a buttered hot cross bin and the weekend papers. Caught up with the first two parts of The Other Bennett Sister which I had missed last Sunday; I had already read the book and was pleased with the adaptation.

I roasted a half-chicken for dinner, and the leftovers will last me another couple of days.

Wishing all a pleasant Monday.
