Morning Mick, morning All from a wet corner of Somerset.

A very quiet evening yesterday as our friends had headed home. It was a very relaxed if busy few days, we’ll miss them.

Today’s challenge is sorting out something for Mr C to wear to a formal funeral, four hours away, on Monday. It’s a long while since we’ve attended one where traditional funeral attire is requested and weight loss means his wardrobe no longer contains such items that fit properly. Thankfully one of our sons has offered to drive the majority of the way.

Best wishes to all. Have the best day you can everyone.

Good morning everyone from an overcast Northampton, rain forecast later.
Yesterday was lovely, sunny and much calmer; I got the towels dried on the line,.and in the afternoon potted up my pansies (white,.yellow and orange) by the front door, and then cut the front grass, which appears to be mostly moss!

Back to dance classes this morning; I think it must be about two months since I last went, what with an injured knee and then my holiday! I had.better go gently and see how I go. It will be good to see fellow dancers again, and have a coffee afterwards.

No plans the rest of the day, and only have rice to cook for my dinner, and the chicken curry is thawing in the fridge.

Wishing all a pleasant day.

Good morning from Cloudy Chambers northwest coast.
House stuff catch up yesterday and dealing with admin re unknown shares from late DH which have surfaced. I’m glad to have them, but it’s a bother dealing with them. The financial side of life not being one of my talents…

Art this morning and I’ll drop off some homemade soup for sick friend. I’m on cat duty for next door as they are away for a few days.

I need to work out a concert dress for Saturday. A little thickening round the middle has consigned a couple to the charity shop. I’m singing solos so will be on show.

How nice to meet up Ash and Marzipan!
Thoughts to all🌺

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where it is 6°C.

Yesterday was bitterly cold in the park, my joints were protesting badly, but Babydoll was oblivious, she was having a ball.
Eventually, frozen to the marrow, we retreated to the café, where we were the only customers.
She was very cross and I realised, that she had a mouth ulcer, which was hurting badly.
In the afternoon, I eventually ran up to the shops to get Bonjella and ice lollies. That and a dose of magic medicine (Calpol) and she got her second wind.
I hadn't even found my first wind.
She reminds me so much of her daddy, who was such a sickly child 😍

GagaGran after forty five years driving, I reluctantly changed to an automatic car, on the advice of my rheumatologist. He had been nagging me for years.
I wish I had done it years ago. I love my automatic car, no more wincing every time I struggle to change gear.
It only took a couple of days to get used to it.

Whiteswan, I can empathise.💐 DH fell out with me on Monday over something silly, (a result of his deafness) the air is still frosty.
DD witnessed it and now understands what I mean about his erratic moods.
I have started keeping a diary.😪

Normally on a Friday, I would go to Silverburn for a wander, however I have neither the energy, nor the inclination.
I also have some upgrading to do on the parish website, so that will keep me busy.

Best wishes to all, who are struggling.

Enjoy your day folks, whatever your plans.

Good morning Mick and everyone from rainy Carlisle. It may clear up, apparently it's a rain band moving south.

That was not acceptable Mick, cancelling an appointment after you'd travelled there.

I had a quietish day yesterday just doing the bed changing and laundry and doing some admin after a brief shopping trip in town. I felt still on holiday and I was caught up in my latest book which is a long one. Maybe the latter is why I woke with a bad headache in the very early hours. I had to go down for some paracetamol and had a disturbed rest of the night. I think the problem is my new glasses prescription. I made an appointment with the opticians whilst in town after the short train journey from Edinburgh had made me dizzy and nauseous.
Today, more laundry and maybe cleaning. I'm hoping it dries up so I can go for a walk later. It may be a good idea to hold off on the reading but I am so near the ending that will be difficult.

I'm sorry to hear about your driving ban Gingster, it will be a whole new way of life for you.

Wishing you all a pleasant and dry day, it's brightening up here now!

Good morning all from a wet Black country, it has rained every day since we had garage roof done.
Dgs2 has for the third year running won the Easter bonnet parade at school, DS always makes the hats and can be very imaginative not a talent inherited from me😀.
Ginster sorry to hear you can no longer drive, DH is waiting for his licence it is now a month overdue, although we have spoken to them twice and they have said he can still drive they won't say what the delay is.
No plans as yet I do have a few phone calls to make but not that important that they can't wait.
Safe travels those on the move and virtual hugs where needed.
Have the best day you can everyone ☀️.

Good morning from a grey and rainy NE.
Today is DD's birthday, how did I become old enough to have a 57 year old ?
DIL sent a message to say she has booked afternoon tea at a castle to celebrate GD's music exam success, that is something to look forward to.
Very quiet here, sister and BIL are on holiday for the next two weeks.

Have a good day.

Good morning from a dull and I imagine chilly Suffolk. I am off to Norwich to meet a friend who lives on the north Norfolk coast and Norwich is a good mid point for meet ups for us.

We have booked to do an underground tour of streets of the 15th century city which runs from the castle keep to the market. It is organised by a social enterprise company and the money raised helps to fund their charitable projects.

We’ll have lunch afterwards with lots of chat.

What a shock Gingster to get the letter from DVLA. I do hope your appeal against their decision is successful. I think sometimes optometrists get test results wrong. A friend of mine was told after an eye test that she was showing the signs of a serious eye condition and shouldn’t go on a cruise booked in the near future in case she needed urgent eye surgery.

She went to the eye department of the local hospital, saw a consultant there and got a totally different diagnosis with no imminent problems shown.

Grandmabatty Fri 27-Mar-26 08:25:52

Monk, I applied for my licence (change of address and photo) last Wednesday and got it this Wednesday. I thought that was exceptional service. However I did most of it online

Jaxjacky Fri 27-Mar-26 08:27:58

Morning from a dry S Hants, rain later.
My daughter followed by a friend came for coffee yesterday morning so my breakfast/brunch wasn’t until about 1pm, extending my usual overnight fast.
Today is hair cut day! I’ll be losing about 4”, like you Roses shorter and choppy, I finger dry it. Before then it’s the butcher to pick up two lovely free range chickens, they have an offer on them and MrJ won vouchers.
I’ll be asking him to pick up my new book club book, then Tesco delivery this afternoon.
Your sister sounds rather selfish Roses, but I’m glad you have some help in place.
Quiche for dinner, not home made.

Good morning from a wet Durham. My cold is coming along nicely, complete with coughing, sneezing and sore ribs. I’ve confined myself to the house and slept for hours - but st least my head is clear.

Automatic everytime Gaga. It was so easy after I got the cast off my arm, just steering to concentrate on. Not sure about electric, but that’s just me.

I couldn’t live here on my own, if I couldn’t drive Ginster so you have my sympathy - were you told to expect that?
Frustrating for you Mick

Best wishes to all. X

luluaugust Fri 27-Mar-26 08:36:17

Gingster sorry to hear you won’t be able to drive anymore, hope you can work out the public transport.
GagaGran like Marydoll we both wish we had got an automatic sooner. I have bad shoulders and it has made all the difference to keeping the driving going

madeleine45 Fri 27-Mar-26 08:45:32

I am spitting feathers as they say. Had just finished post and it disappeared totally. Have tried to find it but no sign, so for now I will just wish you all a better morning than I am having and come back a bit later to read all the news

monk08 Fri 27-Mar-26 08:56:15

Grandmabatty we think the problem is the hospital he had an appointment last month, so they maybe waiting on the outcome from that.

Redcar Fri 27-Mar-26 09:33:48

gingster so sorry to hear that you’re not allowed to drive any more. I hope that the public transport is more frequent and reliable in your part of Essex than it is here. Also that it actually goes to a destination that’s useful to you.

WhiteSwan63 Fri 27-Mar-26 09:41:03

Marydoll it’s a good idea to keep a diary about your DH you must be very concerned but it’s good you have your DD on your side keeping an eye out as well. 💐

aggie Fri 27-Mar-26 10:03:08

Good Morning all ,sun is shining ,in Co Armagh , I’m going to chance putting a wash out !
It’s just finished
Hoping today’s worries are small

Usedtobeblonde Fri 27-Mar-26 10:15:14

Good morning from a very chilly and damp Stockport.
I am so sorry to hear your news Gingster I gave up driving during the menopause as I became fearful of so many things, driving uppermost, but I always kept my licence current.
However when Dementia stopped my H driving my AMD was so advanced I was no longer able to try again.
I now use taxis all the time, my mobility doesn’t allow me to use buses , and when working out the cost of owning and running a car it works out ok but….. it is inconvenient and there can be no spontaneity.
I hope you find a solution.
We do seem to have some poorlies and I send you all my kindest thoughts.

GrannyIvy Fri 27-Mar-26 10:42:41

Good morning from a wet cold Cambridgeshire. I’m just having a coffee and catching up on everyone’s news. I’m so sorry Gingster what a blow for you. My advice is to get a second opinion, I know it’s a hassle but probably well worth double checking. This speaks someone who also has eye problems which are a worry 🤞

I’m another who went to an automatic car five years ago and have never regretted it so much easier!

I’ve decided although gloomy out there I am going out for my Friday walk. As I sit here with my second coffee I’m thinking do I wash kitchen and hall floor and dust and hoover the lounge or go out, the walk has definitely won in spite of the weather!

Wishing everyone a good day 🌸

aggie Fri 27-Mar-26 10:58:03

It’s 10 am

aggie Fri 27-Mar-26 10:58:41

Oops wrong place !

Blossoming Fri 27-Mar-26 11:19:04

Good morning everyone from cloudy Lancashire.

MrB and I have enjoyed our usual walk around the dock. The sun has broken through the clouds now and it’s quite mild.

As always, thinking of those with troubles in their lives.

Wishing you a good day whatever you’re doing.
