Do you still have 'Food urges'?

I’ve only had cravings during pregnancy and once when I was on a particular medication. I’m very much an ‘eat to live’ person and eating is a chore at times of stress.

I might see something in a shop eg a packet of sweets, and decide I want it but I’d never randomly suddenly think ‘Oh, I want a packet of sweets right now.’

I do love salad, but I never crave it, for over a year, I craved bounty bars, bought 2 packs in my Tesco order every week, now I don't bother with them.

Not in the same way that I used to have pre menopause when I eventually realised that I craved carbohydrates part way through my cycle. The binge eating which went alongside the craving was caused by over dieting and being hungry and desperately wanting food that I shouldn’t have. I did go through a phase last year of eating oranges. When I had a b/t it said my iron levels were low and the body needs Vit C to absorb iron so I think it was my body knowing something was lacking. Pre menopause citrus fruits, especially oranges, gave me migraines so I carried on avoiding them. I do crave Marmite sometimes but try not to keep it in the house because I just love Marmite on toast and I’m trying to eat less bread. And I like it best on white bread which I’m really avoiding.

I’m on my 3rd week of Slimming World and for the last 3 nights about 9pm I’ve craved a slice of basic white bread, with butter and marmite.
Weird because before SW I would occasionally have a piece of toast for breakfast but never just bread and butter.
Haven’t given in yet.

Often for milk. Guess I need calcium.

Anything edible works for me

I diet all the time as the meds I'm on mean weight gain even if I am strict, but I wouldn't be without the toast with butter and honey for supper. Just as well I love salad. Yes really. I have a veg drawer full of different stuff that I chop up and have with different dressings. Yum crunch.

And I would describe my morning big mug of latte a craving, definitely.

I love Weetabix with hot oat milk and chopped dates, if I come home from work late it’s what I crave.

I'm very much a person of routine. Every evening while watching television, I have a few biscuits, usually homemade ones. I bake and keep them in the freezer; the grandkids love them frozen, and now I do too.

I'm trying to take off a little winter weight, but habits are hard to break. The cookies are calling out to me...

The only time I crave a certain food is when I’m dieting, and for that reason I’ve given up! They really don’t work 🥴

Rocketstop2 Fri 27-Mar-26 18:53:49

grin If I go to bed when the urge is upon me, if I deny myself I have a horrible sleep !

crazyH Fri 27-Mar-26 18:50:21

Yes and now, I must have that cup of tea 😂

Rocketstop2 Fri 27-Mar-26 18:47:01

Isn't it weird ? Do you feel better when you've had said item ? I do, usually .

crazyH Fri 27-Mar-26 18:43:19

Yes me too…..atm I’m having Ritz crackers - fancied something salty

Meandrogrog Fri 27-Mar-26 18:41:45

I think we definitely do, sometimes only a jalfrezi curry with plenty of coriander will do!

Rocketstop2 Fri 27-Mar-26 18:36:27

I was thinking that I can still get food urges for certain foods and certainly still for chocolate. Not ALL the time but sometimes when it will not be put off. Like sometimes getting an urge for spicy food or raw onion on something, or certain herb. I used to think it was all hormonal but obviously way past that stage. Simetimes I give in to it, thinking my body is asking for what it needs, sometimes I just think it's greed wink
