I have taken the liberty to open a new kitchen.

Bubbles, friendship and support in abundance xxxxx

SueDonim Wed 29-Apr-26 13:11:21

Oh Gmattie, how can you ever be ‘ok’ again after such losses? flowers The most apt comment I have received is about eventually adjusting to a new normal.

Naughtyneine Wed 29-Apr-26 09:30:33

Just popping in with a big cwtch for you all and hoping that today is better for all who are struggling with sadness. ♥️

HelterSkelter1 Wed 29-Apr-26 08:31:31

GMattie. This breezy blue sky weather with scudding clouds I call my Kent Coast weather. I lived there from 6 to 18 and was a regular visitor until my parents died.So this type of weather glorious as it is can suddenly make me sad with all the memories of many summers.

Grandmabatty Wed 29-Apr-26 06:28:35

I've just seen this GrandMattie. ❤️

gMattie ❤️

I had what I call one of my soggy days today. It’s been a while. Ridiculous when you think that DS died 4.5 years ago and DH coming up for 4. You would think I’d be ok by now…
I have no idea what provoked it.
Tomorrow is another day, smile plastered on my face and I’ll brave the day. 🦩🦩🦩

kittylester Tue 28-Apr-26 21:13:13

I get what you mean fgt2 but I doubt people in the kitchen will be hurt. I'm sure everyone feels the love in here.

brook in contrast to you, I had to wear a big coat for the walk to the library for choir and then on to one of our village cafes for tea and cake. There was a biting wind.

Sending love to all.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Tue 28-Apr-26 20:55:40

Ah yes Hiraeth and Doodle. My apologies for not mentioning you (thank you TillyTrotter). That’s the trouble when one singles some people out and not others. Sorry.
It can cause hurt feelings.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Tue 28-Apr-26 20:52:19

‘Evening All’

I’ve been stronger today, steadier. The sand beneath my feet hasn’t shifted nor the grief waves knocked me sideways.

Thank you all for your support, 💐 and kindness. It means a lot.

SueD its early days for us both. As others have sai, we need to treat ourselves gently. dustyangel you too if you’re reading and of course the family and friends of soop.

TillyTrotter Tue 28-Apr-26 20:47:10

Doodle , fgt , SueDonim and Hiraeth I can only imagine the grief that makes your hearts heavy on a daily basis 💐
Yiayia , keep on hoping something can be done to relieve your DH of his pain. 🤞
I feel an early night coming on as I have been awake since 4 a.m.
TOYA

So sorry to hear that your DH didn’t get the news he wanted Yia, thinking of you both
The weather must be a bit topsy turvey as it’s been a gorgeous warm sunny day here, Tshirt weather and no coat needed ! I’ve had a busy but enjoyable day, the gym, coffee, a bit of shopping and a walk etc. I had a quick sandwich sat by the river in town, it was so peaceful, then home on the bus. We’ve just had salmon for dinner and I’ve settled on the sofa for a while
Well done with the Aquafit Grannmarie 👍
SueD ❤️
Thinking of everyone in the quiet corner, take care all x

Oh Yia your DH must be so disappointed.

It’s been rather chilly here today, went for brunch with DD as it’s her birthday.

This evening she has chosen to have a takeaway with her boys at her home, easier as it’s a school night.

Will try and catch up.

Hope Baggs is ok

Redcar Tue 28-Apr-26 18:01:05

yiayia sorry your DH didn’t have a better hospital visit yesterday, hoping the consultant can come up with something to help him.

Cooler here today, a cloudy morning but sunny this afternoon but with a cool north easterly wind. Didn’t feel like doing any gardening today. I saw my friend with dementia this afternoon. She was mumbling all afternoon but nothing intelligible sadly.

DD2 rang as she was walking home from the station to collect the 8 year old from after school club and the 3 year old from nursery. Like many people she goes into the office on one or two days a week.

Have a pleasant evening everyone.

Jaxjacky Tue 28-Apr-26 18:00:11

Hi all, so sorry Yia I'm hoping there’s a plan B.
A cooler, cloudy earlier and windy day, MrJ and I went to the library, as well as new books, I returned the book club book and collected the new one. Nipped in the village co-op for blueberries, resisted the charity shop.
MrJ is at bowls for a match, not sure what time he’ll finish, I’ll sort myself something to eat.
Big hug for this of us who are sad 🤗 x

SueDonim Tue 28-Apr-26 13:35:06

flowers FGT. I had a ‘moment’ the other evening, while I was at my son’s. My phone rang late, about 11pm, and my first thought was ‘Oh, that’ll be Dh,’ because that’s when he used to call if one or other of us was away. Reality hit a nanosecond later. 😰

Thinking of all Gransnetters with troubles and hoping others are enjoying their days. Xx

Grannmarie Tue 28-Apr-26 13:11:36

Hello 👋 hulahoop, I hope you're doing ok.

Grannmarie Tue 28-Apr-26 13:09:52

Thank you, Neine and YiaYia for that recommendation, I'll have a look.
So sorry that yourDH"s appointment didn't go as you wished, hoping and praying that things will improve for him soon.

I'm just out of my Aquafit class, first one for a month but I kept moving, did what I could. Feel better for it.

Wishing everyone a good afternoon. 🥰

Hiraeth Tue 28-Apr-26 10:39:19

I know the feeling FGT some days grief just hits us . A song on the radio , a present given to us from our husband . There’s no way of getting through grief . Just be gentle to yourself which our husbands wished for us

Usedtobeblonde Tue 28-Apr-26 09:20:02

Good morning.
So sad for you both Yia I hope the Consultant has more options for your DH.
It is cloudy here today and certainly cooler but very still. Let’s hope May sees a return to the warmer days.
Kindest thought to all who need them, life is sometimes sad and overwhelming.

Yiayia4 Tue 28-Apr-26 09:10:41

Morning everyone.Thank you all for thinking of us sadly the catheter test was unsuccessful! DH was very disappointed and in a lot of pain so back to the consultant. 😔The saving grace last night, GS’s team won 5-1 an excellent match.

Thinking of you FGT❤️

So pleased your getting back to normal Jax.

I watched Harry Clark Neine really enjoyed it,think you will Grannmarie.

Have a good day all.

Naughtyneine Tue 28-Apr-26 08:47:52

Granmarie...you might like to watch Harry Clarke goes to Rome. He won the Traitors in series 2 and this documentary is about him exploring his faith and a quest to meet Pope Leo. A very grounded young man.

Castle25 Mon 27-Apr-26 23:23:36

A childminding day today. Ballet class and coffee with my sister and her granddaughter afterwards. There’s only weeks between the girls. DGD was overtired this afternoon and it was a struggle to get her to nap. She did eventually and was much the better for it. Will be a resting day tomorrow probably in bed all day. Needs must. Thank you for the birthday wishes

hulahoop Mon 27-Apr-26 22:52:19

Yia hope your ok gets his wish re catheter.
I have not done much sciatica is playing up.
Granmarie sorry you were disappointed with your evening viewing.
Tilly/trotter your w/end sounds wonderful.
Fgt 💐

Redcar Mon 27-Apr-26 22:15:31

fgtflowers. Sending a you a hug.

jaxjacky the rain didn’t last long unfortunately, enough to damp down the dust and that’s all. I hope there will be more overnight but I’m not holding my breath.

Night night, sleep tight.

Doodle Mon 27-Apr-26 22:11:09

FGT I spray DHs aftershave too. It evokes such a memory. Take care 💐
