I have taken the liberty to open a new kitchen.

Bubbles, friendship and support in abundance xxxxx

Ladyleftfieldlover Tue 14-Apr-26 22:38:09

Hello kitchen people. It’s always good to hear what you’ve all been up to.

I spent the morning doing admin: completing and submitting my annual long term conditions information and booking a blood test for Monday; organising flowers for elder son’s partner whose birthday is on Friday; booking a train to London for yet another Study Day. After a sandwich lunch I popped round to a friend’s for a couple of hours. Meanwhile OH was visiting his bees who seem to be thriving and are already producing honey!

I cooked chicken curry for dinner - I love curry!

Rather annoyingly my toe was throbbing a bit today - together with both my knees, which have been partially replaced over the years. Obviously my toe is missing most of its nail. It can take up to a year for it to grow back.

Sleep 💤 tight.

Nannytopsy Wed 15-Apr-26 05:24:07

That toe sounds sore Llfl and a year is a long time to wait. I have been awake for about an hour and have done Wordle and read the Guardian , so now I’m depressed! I hope you are all sound asleep!

silverlining48 Wed 15-Apr-26 13:00:32

Yes it usually does take up to a year to grow, so patience is definitely required.

Just popped in for an overdue catchup and would like to send my sincere condolences to SueD *flowers

brook2704 Wed 15-Apr-26 16:00:29

Hi kitchen friends, I hope everyone is doing ok
Lovely to see you here dustyangel I hope you’re doing ok ❤️
It’s been very mild but cloudy here today with on and off rain. I’ve been at the hospital this morning for a volunteering session, then over to the gym for a class and I’m home now. It’ll be an early dinner as I’m out to a dance class this evening
I hope your toe and knees are a bit better today llfl and not causing you any problems
Fingers crossed the new cable charges the car ok dragonfly, agree about keeping it well topped up 👍
Hope the new lawn rake does the job redcar, it’s an annual job here too but mostly left to DH, no matter what we do the moss always comes back 🤷‍♀️
Also hoping grannmarie is getting on well hosting her visitors and they’re all enjoying family time together

SueDonim Wed 15-Apr-26 16:29:48

Thank you for your continued thoughts. The last of my AC left today so I am home alone for the first time. It feels ok, to my surprise. It has been so frantically busy, with visitors, emails, phone calls, piles of cards, many deliveries of flowers, gifts, food and all the admin associated with this stage of life that I need some quiet time to myself to simply think about things. It seems a long time until bedtime, though, without speaking to another soul. Our cats will just have to endure me yapping at them.

silverlining48 Wed 15-Apr-26 17:08:30

flowers Sue enjoy your quiet time, you must need it.
You may not remember with all that is happening, but it’s our 4 year hip hop op anniversary. How is yours doing?
Mine is fine. So far…

SueDonim Wed 15-Apr-26 18:38:51

Ooh, mistaken identify, I think, Silverlining! I’ve still got the hips I was born with, though they might be a little broader in the beam these days. grin

Jaxjacky Wed 15-Apr-26 19:06:57

Hi all, SueD I remember your cats, they will offer a little solace 💐
I patio paced this morning as I knew rain was coming, sure enough until about 4 it was steady. We then went to the pub to meet a friend, two halves of shandy, im not expensive to keep.
I’m mainly crutch free at home, apart from when I’m tired or going upstairs, a little wobbly, but it improves the more I walk, 🤞.
Big hugs to the quiet corner 🤗

silverlining48 Wed 15-Apr-26 19:17:06

Oh dear, I was sure it was you… will spend the rest of the evening wondering who it was if it was not you, (but glad you have your original hips). smile

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Wed 15-Apr-26 20:34:57

‘Evening All’

I’ve had a good day. Yoga class. A coffee on my own in Starbucks. Lunch in a pub with my two brothers in law and their wives. Mug of tea when I got home and just a packet of crisps feeling peckish (as one does after a delicious lunch). Mind you there’s a tub of jelly babies in the cupboard …. Can I resist? Ought I? 🤔

Glad to hear you’re more or less crutchless now Jax but go steady. Take your time and be mindful of all movements. In time your muscle strength and your confidence will return.

SueDonim 💐 you’re doing well. Nice that you have your cats for company. Breathing hearts other than your own, that’s a comfort I expect.

dustyangel I hope you’re alright, coping with this unwanted and new way of living.

To all in the quiet corner, dig deep. Behind the clouds there is blue sky. xx

Nightie Night folks 🙋‍♀️

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 15-Apr-26 22:58:52

Hello kitchen people,

I’ve had a good day. It was the monthly U3A lunch and we met in an Italian in a nearby town. The food was tasty and the company was good,

Tonight’s WI meeting was interesting. The speaker was a retired midwife who talked about her time working in the UK and in the Middle East. I won a bottle of wine in the raffle and was given a beautiful bunch of flowers as it is my birthday this month.

Sleep 💤 tight.

cornergran Wed 15-Apr-26 23:14:03

A good day once I caught up with my friend. My (shiny new electric) bus broke down in a diversion. We were told to ‘de-bus’ (a new one on me) and squeezed in the next one. It was fun in a strange sort of way but did make me much later than I’d planned. I felt for those with hospital appointments. Over three hours of putting the world to rights followed with a fairly uneventful trip home.

Good to see you sued.

You’ve done well jax

Time for sleep now, if I can. .Night night. Sleep tight.

Usedtobeblonde Thu 16-Apr-26 13:05:05

Good afternoon all.
I just need to ask , I am sitting in my pyjamas and dressing gown drinking coffee, it is almost 1 pm.
I have not done a single think apart from fold a teeny bit of laundry, I have no motivation, no energy to do anything.
Does anyone else ever have days like this?
I feel so lazy but can’t shake myself out of it, yesterday I did jobs, visited a friend and then my GD’s half sister came with her 10 month old baby and we had a lovely time with them both.
Tomorrow I may be like I am today or I may get on with things.Do I just go with it or try to shake the lethargy off?

GrannyGravy13 Thu 16-Apr-26 13:16:13

Usedtobeblonde just do you as my teen GC often say. If you have nowhere to be, nothing that needs urgent attention, so what 🤷‍♀️

I often have a nothing Sunday I do shower and put on clean pj’s but do not get dressed until dinner time (I cannot eat dinner in nightwear, I wish I could) I lounge on the bed, either reading or watching naff TV, bliss…

GrannySomerset Thu 16-Apr-26 15:39:38

Dear UTBB, you are absolutely entitled to an empty day. I am younger than you and recognise that I have to pace myself now without feeling guilty - resentful, yes, but need to use my more limited reserves of energy carefully. I would love to be the person I used to be but I’m not, so must make the best of what I do have.

brook2704 Thu 16-Apr-26 16:18:14

Enjoy each day just as you wish Uttb, you deserve it x

Usedtobeblonde Thu 16-Apr-26 16:18:52

Thank you both.
I am feeling quite unwell now, best to just rest up and see what tomorrow brings.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 16-Apr-26 17:00:02

Oh uttb just lean into it.
You had a busy day yesterday and your body would like a rest today. I’m sorry you’re feeling unwell this evening let’s hope a good night’s sleep puts you right.

I went for a manicure this afternoon and thoroughly enjoyed the chat and pamper in the salon.

I’ve just eaten. ‘Pan fried’ (as they say nowadays! 😂) rib eye steak with fried onions. The yummiest of food smells I think - with veg.

Early to eat because teacher daughter rang me at 4pm “mum do you fancy a couple of cheeky mid week wines while I’m still on Easter hols and not up for work tomorrow?”

I didn’t need asking twice! Just going to brush my teeth, put on some lippy and meet her in the (new to me) wine bar round the corner for our first then into my favourite bar on the corner for our second. 🍷🍷

Nannytopsy Thu 16-Apr-26 17:31:02

Enjoy FGT! I’m hoping the butler will come up with something before too long.

kittylester Thu 16-Apr-26 18:00:30

UTBB, I hope you feel better tomorrow - take it easy now.

Enjoy your wine, FGT, I shall be joining you soon.

I volunteered on a zoom course last night and at a Mild Cognitive Impairment cafe this morning and i'm completely jiggered. Mine will be medicinal obviously!

GrandmaC47 Thu 16-Apr-26 18:25:15

Enjoy your wine, FGT I’m having a small one with my dinner. My DSiL has just taken me for a short drive in his new
open topped sports car. I felt 40 years younger 🤣,( hence the wine). I’ve always hankered after one, but it wasn’t to be 😢
Hope you feel better soon, UTBB

Jaxjacky Thu 16-Apr-26 18:42:32

Hi all, I managed a proper walk around the garden today, pleased to see the growth close to. Tidied up the ‘drugs’ box, swept the kitchen floor and updated Tesco delivery list, isn’t weekly shopping a chore, even online!
Never too late GrandmaC47, I hope you get taken out again soon.
Sorry utbb you’re feeling unwell, a good sleep maybe?
A glass of wine sounds tempting, enjoy yours those partaking 🥂.

Redcar Thu 16-Apr-26 20:47:32

I hope you feel better tomorrow utbb.

jaxjacky well done for a proper walk round the garden! I didn’t go out into the garden today, although it was a really nice day. My back has been very painful all day and I didn’t want to make it worse by doing some gardening.
I had a second asthma review on the phone, with a respiratory nurse who was very helpful. I’d looked online and found the notes from Mondays review, which made very little sense and which were completely wrong! We sorted that out and I got some useful up to date advice on managing my asthma.
My new electric lawn rake arrived yesterday. Now it needs to be assembled, DD2 may come over tomorrow and do it, otherwise one of my sons in law will do it over the weekend. I hope I can push it without too much difficulty.

fgt I hope you enjoyed your glasses of wine with your DD, a nice unexpected treat!

Thinking of those in the quiet corner.

Night night everyone, sleep well.
