I have taken the liberty to open a new kitchen.

Bubbles, friendship and support in abundance xxxxx

llfl oh your poor toe sounds so painful. I hope it gets better soon so that you can go out and about again.

Lovely photo of the bluebells dragonfly. I have a few in my garden, taken from my parents’ garden when we moved here over 40 years ago. One of my nieces bought my parents bungalow after they died, and it’s full of bluebells now.

I’ve had quite a good day, first of all my next door neighbour came and assembled my new electric lawn rake. It seems very efficient when I tried it out. I think when it’s raked the moss and weeds out there won’t be much actual grass left!

Then DD2 came over with littlest, who was grumpy. She went to sleep on her mum’s lap for a while and was a bit more cheerful when she woke up. Then I took delivery of a new weed puller, designed to help people who can’t bend easily. It works very well and I think I may be able to manage the garden myself now!
My second asthma review yesterday evening went well. The review was with a respiratory nurse and was very informative, so I felt very relieved afterwards!

Thinking of those who are in the quiet corner.

Enjoy your evening everyone.

Hello kitchen people.

I haven’t had the day I was expecting and looking forward to. I had already cancelled my Art Society Study Day in London and arranged to see the podiatrist. Well, I saw her and she had to trim away some more nail! Eek. It was all a little uncomfortable and I have to keep the dressing on for a couple of days. Before all that I had a migraine - only the second one this year. Considering I had two or three a week when I was working, that’s not bad. The problem is that the triptan I take as soon as the aura starts leaves me washed out and tired for the rest of the day. OH had to drive me to the podiatrist as I felt too wobbly.

Anyway, we’re back home. OH is making his fortnightly call to an old friend who hasn’t been well for some time. I’m collapsed on the sofa with one of the cats.

It is OH’s turn to make dinner.

Have a good evening everyone. I hope you’ve all had some delight in your day.

Just popping in to see how everyone is doing.

I hope UTBB is feeling ok today and FGT doesn't have a hangover. grin

Lovely bluebells dragonfly. We were intending to go to see them this afternoon - until we looked at the weather forecast- maybe next week.

Corner rats terrify me. so you have my sympathy. Enjoy the Eden Project. It's ages since we went but loved it.

cornergran Thu 16-Apr-26 23:00:16

Those bluebells lift the spirits dragonfly. Thank you.

A mixed day here. Very upbeat this morning when our sofa was finally fixed then down with a bump when our neighbour called to say she had seen, on more than one occasion, more than one rat running across the back gardens. I am paranoid around the things, can’t bear them and won’t want to venture outside until I’m sure they are no more. Growing up on farms rats were always about, they scared me and the fear has remained.

We live on a managed development, emails have been sent requesting rat management! If they won’t we’ll pay for assessment and give them the report. The perils of living close to a river and with neighbours who (over)feed the birds. I know they’re never far away, I just don’t want rats using our back garden which is my happy place as a playground and a run.

Other than that all is reasonably well in our world 😊. We’re fortunate in so many ways.

utbb if I may I’ll add my voice to others, listen to your body, rest if it tells you to as it’s saying it for a reason. Hope you sleep well tonight.

Quietish day planned here tomorrow as on Saturday we’re off on a coach to the Eden Project. Not too early a start thankfully as the coach fills from further North. I’m quite excited, the weather forecast is reasonable and it’s a place we have both enjoyed in the past.

Time for sleep now, if I can, it’s elusive and broken but nothing new there. I’ll settle and see what happens

Night, night everyone. Sleep tight.

Grandmabatty Thu 16-Apr-26 22:48:54

The bluebells are beautiful dragonfly.
I'm sorry your back is bothering you Redcar. I've had a lovely day. I went to Edinburgh with my ballet friend to see The Red Shoes by Matthew Bourne. It was wonderful. Then we had fish and chips. I wish everyone well. I hope Grannmarie had a good time with all her visiting relatives. Goodnight all.

brook2704 Thu 16-Apr-26 22:38:55

Beautiful bluebells dragonfly thank you for the picture
Sounds like you’re doing really well Jax
Hope your back is a bit better tomorrow redcar
Hope everyone sleeps well, take care all x

dragonfly46 Thu 16-Apr-26 21:57:28

After hanging a mountain of washing out this morning and cleaning the kitchen I walked to our local wood to admire the myriad of bluebells.

Sleep well everyone.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 16-Apr-26 21:00:35

Night night dear virtual friends 🙋‍♀️

Redcar Thu 16-Apr-26 20:47:32

I hope you feel better tomorrow utbb.

jaxjacky well done for a proper walk round the garden! I didn’t go out into the garden today, although it was a really nice day. My back has been very painful all day and I didn’t want to make it worse by doing some gardening.
I had a second asthma review on the phone, with a respiratory nurse who was very helpful. I’d looked online and found the notes from Mondays review, which made very little sense and which were completely wrong! We sorted that out and I got some useful up to date advice on managing my asthma.
My new electric lawn rake arrived yesterday. Now it needs to be assembled, DD2 may come over tomorrow and do it, otherwise one of my sons in law will do it over the weekend. I hope I can push it without too much difficulty.

fgt I hope you enjoyed your glasses of wine with your DD, a nice unexpected treat!

Thinking of those in the quiet corner.

Night night everyone, sleep well.

Jaxjacky Thu 16-Apr-26 18:42:32

Hi all, I managed a proper walk around the garden today, pleased to see the growth close to. Tidied up the ‘drugs’ box, swept the kitchen floor and updated Tesco delivery list, isn’t weekly shopping a chore, even online!
Never too late GrandmaC47, I hope you get taken out again soon.
Sorry utbb you’re feeling unwell, a good sleep maybe?
A glass of wine sounds tempting, enjoy yours those partaking 🥂.

GrandmaC47 Thu 16-Apr-26 18:25:15

Enjoy your wine, FGT I’m having a small one with my dinner. My DSiL has just taken me for a short drive in his new
open topped sports car. I felt 40 years younger 🤣,( hence the wine). I’ve always hankered after one, but it wasn’t to be 😢
Hope you feel better soon, UTBB

kittylester Thu 16-Apr-26 18:00:30

UTBB, I hope you feel better tomorrow - take it easy now.

Enjoy your wine, FGT, I shall be joining you soon.

I volunteered on a zoom course last night and at a Mild Cognitive Impairment cafe this morning and i'm completely jiggered. Mine will be medicinal obviously!

Nannytopsy Thu 16-Apr-26 17:31:02

Enjoy FGT! I’m hoping the butler will come up with something before too long.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 16-Apr-26 17:00:02

Oh uttb just lean into it.
You had a busy day yesterday and your body would like a rest today. I’m sorry you’re feeling unwell this evening let’s hope a good night’s sleep puts you right.

I went for a manicure this afternoon and thoroughly enjoyed the chat and pamper in the salon.

I’ve just eaten. ‘Pan fried’ (as they say nowadays! 😂) rib eye steak with fried onions. The yummiest of food smells I think - with veg.

Early to eat because teacher daughter rang me at 4pm “mum do you fancy a couple of cheeky mid week wines while I’m still on Easter hols and not up for work tomorrow?”

I didn’t need asking twice! Just going to brush my teeth, put on some lippy and meet her in the (new to me) wine bar round the corner for our first then into my favourite bar on the corner for our second. 🍷🍷

Usedtobeblonde Thu 16-Apr-26 16:18:52

Thank you both.
I am feeling quite unwell now, best to just rest up and see what tomorrow brings.

brook2704 Thu 16-Apr-26 16:18:14

Enjoy each day just as you wish Uttb, you deserve it x

GrannySomerset Thu 16-Apr-26 15:39:38

Dear UTBB, you are absolutely entitled to an empty day. I am younger than you and recognise that I have to pace myself now without feeling guilty - resentful, yes, but need to use my more limited reserves of energy carefully. I would love to be the person I used to be but I’m not, so must make the best of what I do have.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 16-Apr-26 13:16:13

Usedtobeblonde just do you as my teen GC often say. If you have nowhere to be, nothing that needs urgent attention, so what 🤷‍♀️

I often have a nothing Sunday I do shower and put on clean pj’s but do not get dressed until dinner time (I cannot eat dinner in nightwear, I wish I could) I lounge on the bed, either reading or watching naff TV, bliss…

Usedtobeblonde Thu 16-Apr-26 13:05:05

Good afternoon all.
I just need to ask , I am sitting in my pyjamas and dressing gown drinking coffee, it is almost 1 pm.
I have not done a single think apart from fold a teeny bit of laundry, I have no motivation, no energy to do anything.
Does anyone else ever have days like this?
I feel so lazy but can’t shake myself out of it, yesterday I did jobs, visited a friend and then my GD’s half sister came with her 10 month old baby and we had a lovely time with them both.
Tomorrow I may be like I am today or I may get on with things.Do I just go with it or try to shake the lethargy off?

cornergran Wed 15-Apr-26 23:14:03

A good day once I caught up with my friend. My (shiny new electric) bus broke down in a diversion. We were told to ‘de-bus’ (a new one on me) and squeezed in the next one. It was fun in a strange sort of way but did make me much later than I’d planned. I felt for those with hospital appointments. Over three hours of putting the world to rights followed with a fairly uneventful trip home.

Good to see you sued.

You’ve done well jax

Time for sleep now, if I can. .Night night. Sleep tight.

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 15-Apr-26 22:58:52

Hello kitchen people,

I’ve had a good day. It was the monthly U3A lunch and we met in an Italian in a nearby town. The food was tasty and the company was good,

Tonight’s WI meeting was interesting. The speaker was a retired midwife who talked about her time working in the UK and in the Middle East. I won a bottle of wine in the raffle and was given a beautiful bunch of flowers as it is my birthday this month.

Sleep 💤 tight.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 15-Apr-26 22:04:35

Nightie Night folks 🙋‍♀️

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Wed 15-Apr-26 20:34:57

‘Evening All’

I’ve had a good day. Yoga class. A coffee on my own in Starbucks. Lunch in a pub with my two brothers in law and their wives. Mug of tea when I got home and just a packet of crisps feeling peckish (as one does after a delicious lunch). Mind you there’s a tub of jelly babies in the cupboard …. Can I resist? Ought I? 🤔

Glad to hear you’re more or less crutchless now Jax but go steady. Take your time and be mindful of all movements. In time your muscle strength and your confidence will return.

SueDonim 💐 you’re doing well. Nice that you have your cats for company. Breathing hearts other than your own, that’s a comfort I expect.

dustyangel I hope you’re alright, coping with this unwanted and new way of living.

To all in the quiet corner, dig deep. Behind the clouds there is blue sky. xx

silverlining48 Wed 15-Apr-26 19:17:06

Oh dear, I was sure it was you… will spend the rest of the evening wondering who it was if it was not you, (but glad you have your original hips). smile

Jaxjacky Wed 15-Apr-26 19:06:57

Hi all, SueD I remember your cats, they will offer a little solace 💐
I patio paced this morning as I knew rain was coming, sure enough until about 4 it was steady. We then went to the pub to meet a friend, two halves of shandy, im not expensive to keep.
I’m mainly crutch free at home, apart from when I’m tired or going upstairs, a little wobbly, but it improves the more I walk, 🤞.
Big hugs to the quiet corner 🤗
