Bubbles, friendship and support in abundance xxxxx

flowers Sue enjoy your quiet time, you must need it.
You may not remember with all that is happening, but it’s our 4 year hip hop op anniversary. How is yours doing?
Mine is fine. So far…

Thank you for your continued thoughts. The last of my AC left today so I am home alone for the first time. It feels ok, to my surprise. It has been so frantically busy, with visitors, emails, phone calls, piles of cards, many deliveries of flowers, gifts, food and all the admin associated with this stage of life that I need some quiet time to myself to simply think about things. It seems a long time until bedtime, though, without speaking to another soul. Our cats will just have to endure me yapping at them.

Hi kitchen friends, I hope everyone is doing ok
Lovely to see you here dustyangel I hope you’re doing ok ❤️
It’s been very mild but cloudy here today with on and off rain. I’ve been at the hospital this morning for a volunteering session, then over to the gym for a class and I’m home now. It’ll be an early dinner as I’m out to a dance class this evening
I hope your toe and knees are a bit better today llfl and not causing you any problems
Fingers crossed the new cable charges the car ok dragonfly, agree about keeping it well topped up 👍
Hope the new lawn rake does the job redcar, it’s an annual job here too but mostly left to DH, no matter what we do the moss always comes back 🤷‍♀️
Also hoping grannmarie is getting on well hosting her visitors and they’re all enjoying family time together

dustyangel Wed 15-Apr-26 15:38:06

Just popped in for an overdue catchup and would like to send my sincere condolences to SueD *flowers

silverlining48 Wed 15-Apr-26 13:00:32

Yes it usually does take up to a year to grow, so patience is definitely required.

Nannytopsy Wed 15-Apr-26 05:24:07

That toe sounds sore Llfl and a year is a long time to wait. I have been awake for about an hour and have done Wordle and read the Guardian , so now I’m depressed! I hope you are all sound asleep!

Hello kitchen people. It’s always good to hear what you’ve all been up to.

I spent the morning doing admin: completing and submitting my annual long term conditions information and booking a blood test for Monday; organising flowers for elder son’s partner whose birthday is on Friday; booking a train to London for yet another Study Day. After a sandwich lunch I popped round to a friend’s for a couple of hours. Meanwhile OH was visiting his bees who seem to be thriving and are already producing honey!

I cooked chicken curry for dinner - I love curry!

Rather annoyingly my toe was throbbing a bit today - together with both my knees, which have been partially replaced over the years. Obviously my toe is missing most of its nail. It can take up to a year for it to grow back.

Sleep 💤 tight.

So pleased your DSiL is home Topsy and hope they can get him sorted.

It has been a busy day here starting with loading the washing machine only to find it had no power. Fortunately someone is coming tomorrow to look at it.

Then spent the whole afternoon at the garage where two guys tried to work out why our car occasionally refuses to charge. Eventually they sent me home with a new cable which worked so fingers crossed that is the answer. With petrol the price it is I like to keep the car fully charged.

I then had to set up my new iPad as my old one refused to charge.
Now I will try and relax enough to sleep.
Sleep tight everyone.

Redcar Tue 14-Apr-26 21:44:56

jaxjacky that’s good news for you, but I imagine it will take a while for you to trust the hip!

nannytopsy I’m pleased that your DSiL is home again but it’s worrying that the arrhythmia hasn’t been treated. Private health care may be the way to go if they have insurance.

I had a long awaited appointment with a rheumatologist this afternoon. My treatment is being changed to an annual infusion of a different drug, so I can stop taking the Alendronic acid tablets. Parking at the hospital was a nightmare, my DD2 drove round for 15 minutes, dropped me off then managed to find a space. She joined me in the waiting room about 10 minutes later. I’m concerned because she has to take the 3 year old to the same hospital tomorrow for an X-ray. I hope she finds somewhere to park more easily than today. It’s so stressful and no one needs it when they have appointments! It seems to be the same all over the uk!

I have to stay in tomorrow to await delivery of an electric lawn rake, which I hope will enable me to get rid of some of the moss in my back lawn.

grannygravy the aromatherapy massage and facial sound very calming, I hope you sleep well tonight!

Night night everyone, sleep well.

Perhaps ‘a detective dealing in cyber crime’ was a better way of phrasing that!

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Tue 14-Apr-26 21:24:56

I’ve enjoyed my day today. I went with a friend to listen to a talk by a cyber detective from GMP who educated us all on scams and criminal activity. Hex said we ought to view our mobile phones as ‘portable computers with a microphone which enables us to make calls’. Cyber crime is BIG business and AI has accelerated this beyond recognition in the past 6 months.

Why do we think WhatsApp, Insta , SnapChat, TikToc are free to use? Just think of all the information you’ve been willingly giving for the 20 years of their existence.

There’s no such thing as a free lunch. These social media sites need careful monitoring and robust passwords. Cyber hackers harvest what we post and use AI to build profiles on us all, scams are very clever. So many users get caught out to an alarming degree. Identify fraud is common.

We all came away with a leaflet and a greater understanding of our naivety. 😳

Good evening, I am in bed with my iPad.
Still some poorlies and some very sad Kitchener’s , but it is early days for you.
Hopefully you will come to adjust to your new normal, it isn’t the same but it is your new life and it can be ok.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 14-Apr-26 20:50:49

I have been in the quiet corner, this afternoon I had an aroma therapy massage and facial part of Christmas gift from DD.

Off to bed, totally relaxed 🙋‍♀️

kittylester Tue 14-Apr-26 20:42:03

Evening all (to coin a phrase) I've just popped out of the quiet corner to see how everyone is doing.

I hope SueD and FGT2 are ok. I think you are allowed to be sad - it's early days. You are both coping so well.

Topsy, you must be relieved your DSiL has been seen but the outcome doesn't sound brilliant.

JaxJackie that is progress but maybe a little bit scary.

Nannytopsy Tue 14-Apr-26 19:17:02

Great news Jax! I hope you are back to your pub quizzes in no time. I have been trying to do admin today but I have been rather slow. I also have a mountain of ironing to do, slowly. I must do more exercises before bed too.
DSIL is home, still with an arrhythmia. He has follow up appointments, but not very soon. They have private health insurance, so I think they will be going down that route. A worry for a happy little family.

brook2704 Tue 14-Apr-26 18:33:44

Hope your Sil is doing ok nannytopsy and in the right place now, what a worry for everyone
Sounds like a really good day grandmabatty smiles all round
I’ve had a busy but enjoyable day, a bit of everything thrown with volunteering, the gym, coffee and a walk etc. but all good. I’ve just put some salmon in the oven and now having a 5 minute breather before we have dinner
Easy does it now Jax
Gentle hugs to all in need of one x

Jaxjacky Tue 14-Apr-26 17:58:08

Such a worryingly long wait NannyTopsy hopefully he’s now been assessed and treated.
It’s been drizzly here, I phoned my car insurance to notify them of my hip saga, then my surgeon rang for an update.
I can now reverse all the rules I’ve kept to for so long, it’ll be with trepidation!
Hugs to those struggling.

Grandmabatty Tue 14-Apr-26 17:38:51

NannyTopsy, I hope your dsil is ok. That sounds awful.
Today has been a thoroughly good day. I dropped off dgs1 at football camp, then dgs2 and I went for hot chocolate and a brownie. Then stopped off to buy a couple of new toys. Once home, we went into the garden to play for a while, then back in where he painted and drew. Then he played at creating a zoo. We had lots of fun. We picked up dgs1 who was a bit grumpy because he was tired but he was fine back at my house. I've dropped them home and I'm resting before clearing up the mayhem and dinner. Enjoy your evening kitchen folk

From experience, they take their time when the transfer is between hospitals, knowing the patient will be safe.

Trundle is a Scottish word.

Nannytopsy Tue 14-Apr-26 08:09:04

The ambulance for DSIL was ordered at about 6pm and has arrived just now at 8am, for a hospital requested transfer to a&e!

gillgran Mon 13-Apr-26 22:53:44

Nannytopsy, I do hope your DSIL soon gets the help & treatment he needs, it's such a worry for you.

Gentle hugs for those in need in our friendly, caring kitchen.
Thinking especially of soop's family & friends, of SueD & your family, also of FGT & your family. x flowers

A group hug for the rest of us trundling along. x (I think I borrowed that "trundling" from you, Baggs,? it sounded just the word....

cornergran Mon 13-Apr-26 22:53:23

What a worry nannyt. I hope you get some positive news very soon.

Please just be as you are fgt, a hug to you and sued.

Decent enough day here. We’re both weary after yesterday’s trip to Oxford, super though it was it took more energy than the batteries hold.

Night night everyone. Sleep tight.

Naughtyneine Mon 13-Apr-26 22:53:21

NannyT...prayers for your SIL that all will be well and soon. ♥️
SueD and FGT...love to you both x
