I have taken the liberty to open a new kitchen.

Bubbles, friendship and support in abundance xxxxx

Another glorious day of sunshine and gentle breeze here in Málaga. I walked up into Arroyo to meet a friend who has decided she’s had enough of her husband’s roving eye, after many too many years, adult children and a handful of grandchildren. I felt so sorry for her, all those years invested in a man who treated her shabbily. I listened over lunch while she cried. No one gets married to get divorced do they?

I admired these beautiful hibiscus on my way home - as big as saucers out here.

I’m about to shower and dress after a relaxing 3 hours in the gardens with 2 magazines. I’m going out to eat with my ‘dancing friend’ and really looking forward to enjoying her very entertaining company. At 80 y.o. she can be delightfully indiscreet!

My sister saw her husband today after his surgery yesterday. She is coping admirably. I will give her a day or two to settle and see how she feels, then message her to see whether she’d like me to meet her in the hospital cafeteria - maybe Monday?

Jaxjacky Thu 28-May-26 12:37:25

Hi all from an overcast South Hampshire, 27 and that’s today’s high, safe travelling brook to pastures new.
I do hope your granddaughter is improving hulahoop.
We have my daughter and children here later for bbq, a rerun of Monday with my son, I'm enjoying the food, just not the extreme weather.
I still get odd days with residual aches and pains from my hip area, it’ll be 6-12 months for full healing, tendons and ligaments take ages.
Beautiful Nannytopsy
Enjoy your afternoon all.

brook2704 Thu 28-May-26 06:38:24

So sad to read about Luna neine, I’m sure you did the right thing ❤️
Fgt hope your brother in laws operation goes ok, how awful though for them both. I hope you can get to see your sister soon 💐
A very quick visit to the kitchen from me just now, we’re on the move today so I need to get up and sorted - will check back later!
Hoping all our kitchen friends are doing ok, take care all x

cornergran Wed 27-May-26 23:15:29

You did the best thing neine, although it’s hard we do it from a place of love and care.

Worrying news from your sister fgt, your head must be over full now.

It’s been far too hot for me, I used to revel in heat. Now? I’m just an oily puddle although I am loving the blue skies and sunshine. Contradictory that’s me grin.

It’s a comfortable 22 degrees outside now although our bedroom is registering 28 degrees. It will drop in the night, the current temperature is the down side of a well insulated bungalow that holds heat. We’re spending a lot of time enjoying the coast as early as we can get there before it’s too crowded. Back before it gets busy. A real silver lining in my heat cloud.

Dentist tomorrow. Although she’s very sweet and gentle our sense is she has done some unnecessary work. Any suggestions in the morning will be questioned rather than accepted. Nothing else planned, we’re having a very lazy week.

You all sound very active, I’m feeling just a little inadequate reading all you achieve. Hang on, did iron early yesterday morning. That feels better grin.

Look after yourselves. Sleep tight.

Nannytopsy Wed 27-May-26 19:39:11

A much more comfortable temperature here in Suffolk today. I have cut out a dress for DGD for a wedding so tomorrow I can get it made enough for trying on IYSWIM.
This is climbing rose Compassion and it smells as good as it looks. Also one of a number of irises.
It was sad to hear about Luna but the kindest thing Neine.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 27-May-26 18:17:00

I have had a productive day after doing nothing much for the last week, even managed to get to the gym.

Changed bed, including mattress and pillow covers and put on summer duvet. Washed everything including duvet (getting a large capacity washing machine has saved ££’s at the cleaners)

Sorted out some banking admin, payed credit cards, sorted out a returns label for dresses which were dreadful when they arrived (unusual for Boden)

Quiche, jersey royals and English asparagus for dinner.

Has anyone heard from our dear Baggs ?

TillyTrotter Wed 27-May-26 15:49:00

Sad for you Neine even when Luna and all dear pets reach the end of the road here with us it is hard to let them go.
I would love to think we will see them all again.
Letting them go when the time is right is the kindest thing 💔

Usedtobeblonde Wed 27-May-26 14:47:05

So sorry about your dear dog Neine
Molly is just back from the vet, she is pulling her fur out and scratching , vet could not find anything, no irritation to be seen , no fleas, no sore spots.
3 minutes in the consulting room, one liquid treatment to the back of her neck and steroids for 6 days , just in case.
£114…. At least I still have my lovely companion.
So hot again but a nice breeze today.

Redcar Wed 27-May-26 13:31:54

So sorry to hear about your lovely Luna neine, it’s so sad to lose such a much loved pet. It’s difficult to make that final decision but you wouldn’t want her to be in pain and suffering.

fgt sorry to hear about your BiL, i’m sure your sister will be glad of some support. Could you get a bus or train to Marbella?

I’m sitting with my feet up at the moment, debating whether to attempt to assemble my new tower fan. It looks easy enough, but looks can be deceptive!

Cooler today at 25 degrees in the garden, I need to put some more plants in a pot, then I’ll just sit in the shade.

Have the best day you can everyone. Thinking of those who are struggling at the moment.

Grannmarie Wed 27-May-26 12:52:13

Aww, Neine, so sad to hear about your lovely Luna. 🐕 You know that you did the right thing for her, but it doesn't make it any easier. I share your belief that our pets go to heaven. Thinking of you and DH. ❤️

So sorry to hear about your BiL, FGT. Fortunately you're within visiting range, I'm sure your sister will be glad of your support. Just a thought, have you checked out the bus/ train timetables to Marbella? We were quite impressed with the public transport on Costa del Sol.

Another sunny day in Lanarkshire, there's a novelty!☀️😎 Mass and coffee morning earlier, home now and into shorts and t shirt to work around house and garden for a wee while. Meeting my dear friend early evening for a gentle stroll then a bite to eat. Looking forward to catching up.

Wishing everyone a peaceful Wednesday, enjoy/ take care in the sun 🌞TOYA

dragonfly46 Wed 27-May-26 10:11:36

So sorry to hear about your lovely dog Neine.

What a horrid end to a lovely day FGT so sorry to hear about your BiL.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 27-May-26 10:06:41

I went to the beach yesterday with DD and her boys. We timed it for high tide, so they could play and swim safely, without walking out to the sea.

Sad for you neine , pets really grab our hearts 💕

FGT2 🌼

hulahoop Wed 27-May-26 09:40:55

A sad day for you Neine 💐
It's a lot cooler here this morning it's been a busy time on the roads we don't venture far on bank holidays because of this.

Jaxjacky Wed 27-May-26 09:17:57

How sad neine you were very brave, 💐
Oh dear FGT that is a shock after such a lovely day, I do hope his op goes well and I’m sure your sister will be so pleased to see you.
23 already down south, the heat doesn’t suit me now, I used to love it, I think it’s the humidity.
That rose is stunning llfl absolutely beautiful.

Naughtyneine Wed 27-May-26 08:50:46

A sad day yesterday. Luna the Ddog2 went over the rainbow bridge as they say. The treatment was no longer working and I knew the time had come. Rightly or wrongly I don't know but done with love and the best of intentions I didn't tell DH. Remembering how losing Ned 2 years ago affected him I felt it better he wasn't there and remember her laying at the end of the bed when he left for work yesterday. I can't lie it was hard, I cried, the vet cried and the vet nurse took. She had touched everyone's heart there over the last few months. She died wagging her tail and eating ham. I firmly believe we'll see her again...how could it be heaven if our pets aren't there.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Wed 27-May-26 03:25:32

I’m planning to get to Marbella LLFL it’s half an hour by taxi and €60 each way from here which will blow a hole in my holiday budget but I think my sister would appreciate the support - I haven’t said I’m planning to go but will look at the timeline and maybe go after his op.

hulahoop Tue 26-May-26 22:36:49

Thank you ladies my G Daughter is doing ok still in shock I think, police are involved .

Ladyleftfieldlover Tue 26-May-26 22:30:58

Oh golly FGT! Is it too far for you to pop over and visit?

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Tue 26-May-26 22:09:02

I’ve had a really good day until I got a message from my sister who lives over here in Estapona.

I’d been with my LWW enjoying the chat and the sunshine and then upon leaving the bar (sensibly in the hot sun I’d only had 2 glasses of wine then water and coffee) I bumped into 3 friends who invited me to join them in Fountain Square for drinks and a meal. The last time I went there was with my mum eight years ago ago! Anyway I had a lovely time.

Walking home with said friends I noticed a message from my sister. Apparently her husband who has several co-morbidities (Tyoe 2 diabetes being just one of six health concerns) had been admitted to the Costa del Sol hospital in Marbella 5 days ago and now he is to have his leg amputated for severe bone infection.

This has come as a huge shock to my sister as you can imagine. He’d been on iv antibiotics and she thought he was improving.

Hello 👋 Hulahoop, I'm OK, thanks, keeping myself busy. I'm so sorry to hear about your wee granddaughter, what a terrible thing to happen. Wishing her a speedy and complete recovery, poor wee lamb.

Glad to hear you're feeling better Jaxjacky, you've had a lot to contend with health wise recently.

Nannytopsy, sounds like a brilliant family get together, making memories.

Happy news, GrannySomerset, lots to look forward to.

A nice day indeed Grandmabatty, perfect for the wee ones sponsored walk and picnic, good they had trees for shade. I hope you can rest your feet tomorrow, you've earned it!

Sounds like you're having a wonderful time, brook. It must do your heart good to see your son and partner so happy together, in such a beautiful place. Photos are gorgeous! Enjoy the rest of your holidays.

Ladyleftfieldlover, your cake sounds absolutely delicious! You are very talented. 😋 What a profusion of beautiful roses too, great photo.

Redcar, you are such a good friend and regular visitor to the poor lady with dementia. I'm sure her husband and family appreciate your thoughtfulness.

YiaYia, great to hear that you and DH can go to Corfu, it will do you both a power of good! Try to resist the cats now! 🙀

FGT, what a character your new friend is! Sounds like an absolute tonic, just what you need. Enjoy your holiday with your friends and your special memories. 💕

We're enjoying the sunny weather, it's been a long time coming. Around 28 degrees yesterday and today, not as warm as down south but totally tropical to us! We sat awhile in my sister's garden yesterday afternoon, but we had to pop in and out of the shade, too hot at times. ☀ Lots of washing out and dried, but no ironing so far!!

Aquafit class this morning with my sisters, that kept us cool for an hour.

DS2 collected his new car today. He sent a video of the ' unveiling ceremony ' in the showroom, quite a spectacle!🤣🚗
Many moons ago when we collected a new car, we got a bottle of whisky and a bouquet 💐 of flowers on the back seat!

Thinking of everyone, especially those with illness, worries or sorrow. Wishing everyone a peaceful Tuesday evening and a good night's sleep. TOYA, NNGB.

Nannytopsy Tue 26-May-26 20:56:10

Hulahoop what a horrible thing to happen. I sincerely hope the police were involved , the dog was put down and the owners are prosecuted. It could have been so much worse.

GrannySomerset Tue 26-May-26 19:25:12

Three loads of washing dried, folded and put away and it feels as if I have been busy all day - which I haven’t, too hot for much real effort though I must water my newly planted pots soon. With the threat of more hot weather I foresee an idle week, and a long and enjoyable phone call from a young relative to announce that baby number two is cooking nicely has given a highlight to a low key day. My egg salad and a glass of dry white wine await plus a cool shower before bed.

Grandmabatty Tue 26-May-26 18:40:43

Good evening kitchen folk. 22° here with a pleasant breeze. Hulahoop what a terrible thing to happen to your dgd. I hope she is ok. Redcar your poor friend and her husband. llfl I really enjoy a good thunderstorm. No chance of any here at the moment. Jaxjacky I'm glad your cold has gone. A summer cold is just awful.
I've had a nice day. I went to the boys house and dgs2 was up already. He was quiet and happy. Dgs1 didn't wake for ages and was quite tearful, missing mum and dad. He wanted cuddles from grandma so I was happy to oblige. We reckon he was tired as he had a busy weekend. After I dropped them off at school/ nursery, I rested my feet for a bit then drove to the big park to meet up with the nursery on their sponsored walk. Dgs2 was delighted to see me. The nursery were parked on rugs under a tree. Then they walked to the play park part and the children were given an ice cream. After that, I went home because my feet were really sore while the nursery had a picnic lunch. Later I picked up both boys and brought them to my house for an hour. I made them milkshakes as a treat and dgs2 was busy drawing and painting while dgs1 lay on the couch. I took them home and rested my feet again before making chicken salad for dinner. I'm watching rubbish on the tv just now but will have an early night, I think. I hope you all survive the heat. Good night all

Jaxjacky Tue 26-May-26 17:44:11

Another hot day, wilting.
That poor child hulahoop.
Very little done here, washing, drying and online admin.
That lady sounds great FGT.
Have a good evening all.
PS cold nearly gone 👍

Ladyleftfieldlover Tue 26-May-26 17:38:15

Hello kitchen people.

It’s been around 32 degrees here today and muggy. I went to a friend’s for tea and I took the cake. Actually my cake was the only foodstuff! A new recipe - a three layered chocolate and coffee cake with chocolate frosting. We sat in the garden and listened to loud thunder. I’m home now and it has been raining and thundering but it’s still muggy.

Have a good evening.
