Oh Baggs that is the saddest of news. My sincere condolences to her husband, her family and all her many friends. Her GN legacy will forever be this kitchen. xx

Though not unexpected, that's still so sad. Soop was a kind and beautiful soul. Thank you, baggs, for letting us know.

Doing well FGT.
I have done my walking around the garden today, rather than the village. There has been a lot of activity over the weekend so having a bit of a rest today.
It’s been a lovely day but going chilly now.
I hope you have all enjoyed Easter.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 06-Apr-26 18:20:03

I have just heard from MrSoop that his dear soop died on Saturday afternoon at Campbeltown Hospital. She was pain free and comfortable and he asked me to pass this news on to "the grans". RIP Our Soop.

I’ve had a good Easter on the whole. Better than I’d feared.
Moments of contentment, if not quite happiness - it’s early days. But I am coping.

Himself said he’d take all this sadness with him and leave me to the joy of living. I’ll always remember those words spoken with such generosity of spirit from a husband who knew he was dying. But he didn’t factor in this new sadness I’m left with. The missing of his presence in my life.

I’m doing the best I can, darling man. I like to think you’d have been proud of me this Easter time. x

Log burner and snow, sigh.. I am green brook 🙂
He has bagsied two eggs Grandmabatty as suggested, rest of the family will I’m sure help out.
I’ll hang on to the basket and chicks with good intentions!

Thank you Brook. The meal went well. Lots of laughter and chatting. The boys behaved beautifully. Far too much food so everyone left with goodies. I've tidied everything up, even washed and dried the tablecloth and napkins. Now I'm relaxing watching an Agatha Christie. We had every sort of weather today, even snow, which fortunately didn't lie. jaxjacky will Mr J eat the chocolate?

brook2704 Sun 05-Apr-26 20:02:32

A lovely prize Jax but a shame it’s not what you’d enjoy, hopefully the DGC can help you out
We’ve had more snow and sleet showers today, awful weather for being out and about. We did go out briefly this morning, not much of a walk and then came back home. We ate early afternoon, got the log burner lit and then we’ve been sitting by the fire with a wine. I got messages from all 3 AC which was lovely, they’re all well but busy
Hope your family lunch went well grandmabatty and you’re relaxing now
Thinking of everyone in the quiet corner, take care all x

Hi all, a mixed bag of weather, lovely lunch at my daughters then MrJ won an Easter prize in the pub, shame I'm not really a chocolate lover.
I hope you’ve all had a lovely day, I know some of us have probably had a rotten one 💐
A peaceful evening to all.

Hello kitchen people.

Our daughter is here for Easter and it is always good to see her. She is nearly 45 and when my grandmother was that age she was a grandmother! My daughter has never wanted children and spends her money on exotic holidays. She and her most recent partner were together for 7 years but split up a couple of years ago. There has been no one since. Am I sad? Yes.

We have eaten far too much today. The new chocolate cake recipe was delicious. Too many chocolates have been consumed . Too much wine.

Thinking of the Soops.

Sleep 💤 tight.

Grandmabatty Sat 04-Apr-26 20:09:05

I thought you might get snow , brook. It's heavy rain here and the wind is ramping up now.

Redcar Sat 04-Apr-26 19:48:37

Your painting is lovely grandmabatty, you’re very clever!
A day of sunny spells interspersed with black clouds, but dry and with a chilly wind. Strong enough to blow some of the flower pots around.

I decided to be sensible for once, so didn’t do any more weeding. After two disturbed nights my back has been very achy today, it’s always worse when I’m tired. I unpacked some of my godmother’s stuff & photographed it & sent it to my DDs to see if they wanted anything, they didn’t so I repacked it ready to take to the charity shop next week.

I hope that Storm Dave doesn’t cause as much disruption as the Met Office is forecasting, and hope that the snow stays on the high ground. Take care everyone in the affected areas, stay indoors and keep warm and safe.
I hope that soop and her DH are comfortable and warm, and that family are able to be with them.
Thinking of all those in the quiet corner.

Jaxjacky Sat 04-Apr-26 18:38:32

Great painting Grandmabatty very talented.
No snow here, but the breeze earlier today is now wind, I walked up and down the drive and patio this afternoon to stretch the limbs.
My football team play tonight, so we will watch that, off to lunch at daughter’s tomorrow, we sourced the lamb.
Thinking of those struggling.

brook2704 Sat 04-Apr-26 17:42:18

Your Easter table sounds lovely grandmabatty I hope you all enjoy your lunch together. Your painting is lovely, well done you!
It’s snowing here - freezing cold and miserable 🙁 I went into town for a bit of a browse as we didn’t really fancy a walk. Got a meal deal from M&S for dinner later and some chocolates as a treat
I hope Soop is comfortable with family close by
Thinking of everyone in the quiet corner, take care all and Happy Easter 🐣
