Aw neine big hug x
Have the best time with your family Grannmarie
llfl I meant to ask how you got on with the pre diabetic sessions a while ago, a friend is enrolled and very worried she’ll have to radically change her diet? Thanks.
A slightly blowy day with sun/cloud, the latter will win.

Naughtyneine Thu 02-Apr-26 09:40:02

A very quick visit. I'm sad that our Soop is so very poorly. Her gentle caring kindness will always be the essence of this kitchen.
SueD... Sending you love and prayers and hoping that your DH is not in pain.
Granmarie....Enjoy your time with your family...it all sounds lots of fun.
Jax... Fingers crossed for a 3rd win..meat raffle, postcode...maybe a premium bond? You deserve it after the grotty few months you've endured.
UTBB...I know the song you quoted... there is a band called The Dualers that we listen to when we are on a road trip and sing along to it. They also sing one called You're so special. We had that as our first dance at our wedding.
Nannytopsy... The first couple of weeks are brutal...I promise it does get better.
Redcar... I've been out in the garden too. We've got raised beds now and a new one was installed last weekend and I was out the next day planting it up. Being in the sun makes me feel so much better.
I was completely caught out last night a wave of sadness that I hadn't felt for months utterly floored me. A picture of my DGS6 from 12 years ago came up on my time hop. It is a gorgeous picture of him and it was the happiest of days for us both. What is it they say...the memories sometimes escape and roll down your cheeks. They did.

Grannmarie what an exciting time is ahead of you, I half envy you but I just know even thinking about it is making me tired.
I hope you all have a wonderful time and the quest for family history is successful.
I had another difficult visit to my friend and neighbour, she was obsessed with her mobile phone , showing me family photographs and then bizarrely she got up the NHS app which her D had installed for her and proceeded to read out all the information on it going back about for a couple of years , blood test results, vaccinations and other stuff, it was most odd.
This was followed by texts and other information about her D.

I came to bed at nine and slept for about 3 hours but wide awake now and wondering whether or not to get up and make a drink, on reflection probably not.
The cat has just wandered in, fortunately sans a mouse.

I hope most of you are warm and comfortable and enjoying a good nights sleep.
My thoughts as ever are with our friends for whom life is difficult and changing.

Nannytopsy Thu 02-Apr-26 02:46:53

I lost yesterday to cocodamol so I have only just found the new kitchen. Thank you GG for opening it and putting the thoughts of us all so well. Thank you too Baggs for being the bearer of sad news.
SueD much love to you.
Next dose of painkillers is taking effect, so off to sleep. Night night

I'm late, I'm late....

Our Australian visitors have arrived, all eight of them, staying in three houses with myself, DSis2, and DB and DSis in law.
Wonderful to see them all, lots of eating, drinking and catching up already. We have a few trips planned, St Andrew's for the golf, Isle of Arran ( if the ferry behaves) and Ireland on the family history road trip.
We've had to find some spare clothes because one couple's luggage is still in Singapore...
We're going to be busy, hoping for some better weather.

Thinking of the Soops and the SueDs, hoping and praying that they are cosy and comfortable with all the necessary assistance.

TOYA, NNGB.

Hello kitchen people. I expect most of us are tucked up in bed by now. I am and will carry on reading a biography of Harold Wilson in a minute.

After collecting my prescription and a bit of shopping in Waitrose I had a baking day. Well, just two cakes! A Simnel cake which I will decorate with the usual marzipan balls. I also made a new recipe. A very squishy chocolate cake. It is only 5 inches square but contains 115 g of plain chocolate.

I am thinking of those of you with difficulties.

Sleep 💤 tight.

A less cold day here today, but cloudy. Tomorrow is supposed to be colder again,

DD2 worked here for a couple of hours this morning, nice to have her company.
I managed another half an hour’s gardening this afternoon, mainly trying to cut the edges of the grass in the front garden. Not sure it looks any better!
It sounds like you had an enjoyable time with your DD fgt and no need to beat yourself up about anything!
blossoming I’m pleased you’ve been able to enjoy some sunny walks recently, I envy your walk by the sea.
I hope that those in the quiet corner are warm and comfortable tonight.
Night night everyone.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 01-Apr-26 21:40:31

Rather discombobulated here, our sofas and chairs are on the drive, I have spent the evening on a kitchen stool. Hopefully new sofas and chairs will be delivered tomorrow.

FHT2 small steps 🍷

Thinking of soop and SueDonim 🌼🌼🌼

I need to be up and out in the morning, totally forgot to do an online grocery shop, M & S Food Hall instead.

Nighty Night 🙋‍♀️

I don’t post very often on this thread, but just wanted to say that I’m sorry that soop is so unwell, and sorry, too, that your DH has broken his arm SueD, but I do hope that they have made him as comfortable as possible.
I’m glad you have had a good time today with your D FGT and glad, too, that you aren’t going to beat yourself up about being a bit squiffy. I’d say you deserve those few hours of reminiscing 💐.

kittylester Wed 01-Apr-26 20:14:37

Such a lovely post, FGT. Glad you had a good time with happy memories.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Wed 01-Apr-26 20:03:54

Evening to all in the kitchen. I think I’m slightly squiffy. 😳
No matter.

L’il Miss wasn’t swimming tonight as she’d been invited to a birthday party of one of her class friends so her mum (our youngest) suggested we both meet here in Urmston for drinks.

I’ve so enjoyed myself. There were no tears just lovely reminiscences. Then she suggested ‘one for the road’. Why not?

Well - because I’m older ? and for several months last year I didn’t drink - due to home circumstances, so my alcohol tolerance is less than it was.

Oh well.
I’ve thorough enjoyed myself for 2 hours and am home safe and sound, my tea is in the oven. I’m not going to beat myself up about it.

I may however be late on parade tomorrow 🤷‍♀️

Good evening kitchen folk. Brook its felt cold here today although the temperature outside is higher than expected. I think the wind chill has had an effect. I worked in the school library this morning. Dgs2 and his troop of friends spotted me going in so rushed across to the fence to shout and wave. I think I'm grandma to the nursery! Then I visited the partner of my best friend. I havent seen him for some months which made me feel guilty. However we had a nice catch up. Then I picked up parcels from Next. I ordered tracksuits for the boys. This afternoon I've been lazy and read. I think I'll have French toast for dinner which will be easy. There's a very black cloud approaching so I think rain is on the way. Take care all.

Good evening dear Kitcheners. I am glad to have found this lovely new kitchen, thank you GrannyGravy13. I haven’t had much to contribute lately but I do try to keep up with you all. MrB took me to Lytham yesterday, it was such a beautiful sunny day and the sea air did me good, as always. Today has been sunny too and we had a local walk. I’m loving seeing the spring flowers, they cheer me.
Thinking as always of our dear founder Soop, she showed me so much kindness when I needed it.

Group hug (((((♥️)))))

Jaxjacky Wed 01-Apr-26 17:07:11

You must be an expert in line dancing after the weekend brook 🙂
Out for another coffee with a friend today, I’m usually a tea drinker, no sun today though. Then to the butcher, spending the vouchers MrJ won in the meat draw, good job we had them, free range isn’t cheap!
We are at my daughters on Sunday for lunch, so eggs will be dispensed then.
Have a calm evening all.

brook2704 Wed 01-Apr-26 16:11:41

Hi kitchen friends, it’s a really cold day here in Inverness with snowy sleet like showers, the car thermometer says only 1° 🥶.
I’m just home from the gym and going to have some warming soup before going out to a line dancing class later. DD2 and family are off to Gran Canaria in the Easter hols so I’ve dropped a couple of Easter eggs off for the DGC . I sent a box of Easter treats down to DD1 in Cambridge last week, they’ve arrived safely but not opened yet. So that just leaves me and DH - should I buy a nice big Easter egg or a bunch of colourful tulips - maybe both! 🤷‍♀️
I hope your DH is comfortable today SueD ❤️
Sorry to hear about your DD Castle it’s so difficult when the family are far away, I hope things improve for her and you get to see her soon

So many lovely messages in this loving community that soop created. I couldn’t express myself better.

SueDonim Wed 01-Apr-26 11:49:33

Thank you so much for the lovely messages. Love to you all. Xxx

Usedtobeblonde Wed 01-Apr-26 10:17:50

What a wonderful, caring, virtual community soop created.
I am positive that we would all do all we could by visits, help, anything to give support to our friends in this kitchen were that to be possible.
We are lucky to have found it.
I hope soop feels our thoughts for her and that she is pain free and comfortable.

Thinking of you & your husband, SueD, sending love & a gentle hug. x

nanna8 Wed 01-Apr-26 09:00:29

What a lovely warm place this is. I pray all those who are not well improve and that they are all well looked after in the meantime. Autumn is coming here in Australia and we are having cooler weather, mild 25 C very nice.

kittylester Wed 01-Apr-26 05:33:15

I am so sorry to hear your news, SueD. I hope your DH is being kept comfortable.

Septimia Wed 01-Apr-26 02:21:35

I can't put it better than has already been said - how special this kitchen is. While some of the news is sad, the warmth and kindness wraps around us.

Love and prayers to the soops, to baggs (thank you for the update) and all in need of them.

Grannmarie Wed 01-Apr-26 01:55:02

Thank you, Grannygravy, for Soop's new Kitchen and your thoughtful words.

Dear Baggs, thinking of you, thank you for keeping us informed about our lovely Soop and her devoted husband. So sorry to hear how poorly she is, hoping and praying that she is comfortable and pain free, and that she and MrSoop are surrounded by love and support.

Wishing the same for SueD's DH, hoping that he is as comfortable as possible in the hospice, so sorry to hear about his broken arm. Thinking of you, SueD.

Sorry to hear about your daughter, Castle25, hope she can access good treatment and pain management.

Sending much love and prayers for all who need/ wish them.❤️🙏🕯NNGB
