I have taken the liberty to open a new kitchen.

Bubbles, friendship and support in abundance xxxxx

We've been doing "No Mow May" too Jax.
I think our small front and back lawns look lovely and are still green while our neighbours have dead brown lawns.
DH is just going to take the tops off tomorrow and will wait until after the promised rain before mowing shorter.

A belated Happy Anniversary GrandmaC47 ❤️💐
Thank you all, we’re still having such a lovely time, been so lucky with the weather too. Lots of walking in the mountains is so enjoyable, but we’re tired at the end of the day. We’ve just got back to our hotel room after today’s trek and I’ve flopped on the bed! That’ll be it for today as I’m done in 😂 Tomorrow we leave Switzerland and continue our scenic train journey down into Italy where we’ve an overnight stop at Tirano.
Lovely photos fgt thanks for sharing. Good to hear your sister is coping ok, hope your bil is doing well too. We’re all here whenever you feel alone 🥰
Congrats on your bingo winnings redcar hope you can have a little treat
Well done to your DGS in passing his driving test Yia not easy these days and especially in the middle of A levels.
Thinking of all our friends in the quiet corner, take care all x

GrandmaC47 Sun 31-May-26 19:26:20

A quiet day for us. Gearing up for the two granddogs tomorrow. They stay with us till Wednesday evening.
Thank you for the best wishes 😘
Hope tomorrow is good for everyone.

Redcar Sun 31-May-26 20:29:55

brook your holiday sounds like quite an adventure- where in Italy are you heading? You’ll need a rest when you get home!
A cooler day here, only 25 degrees in the garden, but indoors is still warmer even with windows open. Fingers crossed for some rain during this coming week, I need a break from watering the garden. The grass in my garden has hardly grown at all during May, just some daisies and some clover coming up. Loads of bees on the flowers in the garden though, mostly bumble bees.
Enjoy the rest of the evening folks.

Brooke your trip sounds wonderful.

FGT , I still read Mick's thread but usually in the evening. I am busy being a wife, parent, grandparent and daughter to aged parents.

We had a lovely few days in St Andrews. Great weather so we just relaxed and ate good food. The dog was in his element. Unfortunately my daughter text to tell us she’s had a miscarriage. It’s so sad as not her first then to make things worse her partners father died the next day. They’ve had to fly from Australia. It made for a quiet drive home we both felt helpless. It does mean after the funeral they will visit here and we can reassure ourselves she is if not well at least recovering. It’s such a huge distance when something like this happens. FaceTime and texts aren’t a substitute to seeing her and giving her a hug. Tomorrow back to childminding and taking her to ballet. Always good for the soul.

Oh Castle that’s so sad, sorry to hear about your DD, sending ❤️

Thank you Redcar and Dragonfly, our holidays are usually a bit of an adventure. We’re continuing down to Tirano in Italy, we’ve been following the Bernina Express train route with stop offs along the way rather than doing the complete journey in one day. Yes we’ll definitely need a rest when we’re home and will hang up our hiking boots for a while 😀

Grandmabatty Mon 01-Jun-26 06:51:25

Castle I'm so sorry to hear that. Your poor daughter..

cornergran Mon 01-Jun-26 08:22:42

That’s sad news castle. Thinking of you all

brook your holiday sounds wonderful, full of interest

We’re all here fgt, hope the day ahead is a good one for you.

Just dropped in to say hi to everyone really, not much happening here, feel a bit flat as ratty is still in command of the garden. Thankfully Mr C is always happy to go out.

Wishing you all well.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 01-Jun-26 09:41:41

Pittcity 😊

Jaxjacky Mon 01-Jun-26 10:28:25

How awful for them Castle extra big hug when you see them.

Redcar Mon 01-Jun-26 14:36:24

Sorry to hear about your DD castle, and about her partner’s father too. Australia is such a long way away.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 01-Jun-26 17:04:55

A very sad post from you Castle
So sorry.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 01-Jun-26 17:10:58

Evening everyone (6pm here in Málaga).
I’ve had a wonderful day down here at the marina Benalmádena

I’ve been on the beach. The Mediterranean was at its sparkling best and for once not too cold - I went in twice for a dip! Lovely. Many’s the time I would hover at the edge while Hinself swam out then turning and laughing at my wussiness!

Anyway it’s cocktail hour here at Kaleido and I’ve just ordered my favourite- a Pornstar Martini 😁

Salut! 🍸

TillyTrotter Mon 01-Jun-26 17:30:37

Cheers! fgt
Your post is poignant. I do admire your attitude to this really hard first holiday without Himself.
In fact Cheers! to all in soop’s.

Jaxjacky Mon 01-Jun-26 17:30:40

Cheers FGT 😎🍹.
Voluntary phone today, seven lifts sorted.
We have light rain, of course we do, my car is being valeted at 6 on the drive, no rain for ages until half an hour ago. But I appreciate it for the garden where our grass has been cut and is, as pittcity said much greener that the other brown lawns cut regularly.
Oven f&c for dinner.
Have a pleasant evening all.

Grannydaisy1 Mon 01-Jun-26 17:39:27

Good evening kitchen folk. I am in the bad books with dd. This morning I was at their house to take the boys to school/nursery. They'd had breakfast and went upstairs to play. Dgs2 came down and said he had got gel on his hair so I rinsed it off and thought nothing more. Apparently he had gone into mummy and daddy's room and the gel was body gel which was all over the bed, daddy's clothes and up the walls in the en suite. I hadnt realised he had done that. Dd was rather cool at pick up time. Oh dear. I don't go upstairs as dgs1 usually checks the lights etc. That's the last thing she needed after a long day at work.

cornergran Mon 01-Jun-26 20:27:01

Oh heck grandmab. Don't fret. You had no way of knowing what the lads had been up to. I’m sure your daughter will understand as you don’t usually go upstairs you couldn’t have known.

Positively chilly here today. Damp too, drizzly rain, but that’s the magic of Mr C watering the pots this morning. Nothing interesting to report so I’ll not bore you with the detail of the day.

Rest well everyone.

dragonfly46 Mon 01-Jun-26 21:44:59

Oh dear Grandmab I expect your DD was just tired from cleaning up the mess. You do so much for them and I am sure they appreciate it.

Castle25 Mon 01-Jun-26 22:53:54

Thank you so much for your kind words and thoughts. Dd sounds much better today so I feel better too. I had my usual Monday watching dgd. We had baby ballet which is always fun followed by a visit to the garden centre cafe. This afternoon she was a very loving girl which was just what DH and I needed.
