Good morning from a cloudy W Kent. We enjoyed yesterday’s outing down into the Weald. Train bits delivered we went to Tenterden and had a light lunch and wander. With the sun out we went in to Smallhythe and Ellen Terry’s house. The drive home was as ever difficult getting through Maidstone takes time and patience
Lunch with DD2 today and then everyone is away so a quiet weekend ahead.
Best wishes and kind thoughts to all

Good morning Mick and all GN's on a still grey and very chilly Good Friday morning. I fell asleep in my chair last night and only woke at about 2am. Not good sleeping like that, doesnt help the aches and pains and my knees and ankles object strongly, but on the plus side I did at least get some sleep! So I staggered off to bed and this morning need to catch up on all the bits that were left last night.

Yesterday was a mix of a day. I was plodding along rather struggling , but did get the washing done and out on the line, as it was blowing a bit and the weather was mixed. The sun came out and then the sky greyed over but still dry etc. A friend was at a meeting but texted suggesting we met up for coffee after that , so I finished off a couple of small jobs and then happily abandoned any other efforts and went on the yellow peril to meet her at Neros. The town was quite busy and I was glad I was on the peril as the roads were busy with somewhat irate traffic, blowing horns and long queues of people , no doubt itching to get off on trips for Easter.

We met up and she had been away for 3 days and tried YH for the first time and talked of how it had gone and I have used it quite a bit, especially if I was on my way somewhere. Because I wake early and have camped and so forth, all I want is a clean bed and a shower and I dont take breakfast with them, I can get up and sorted and off early , and am often away before anyone else is around. I had texted the cleaners and said I would be back to see them, but stayed a bit later than I meant to and by the time I was home, the transformation to clean and tidy had been accomplished and the kitchen floor still damp from their ministrations. But I found Debbies gilet in the bedroom and text them and Jessie called back for it so was able to pay her.

After I had eaten and checked through my calendar etc, I got down to my next important thing which was to organise my insurance and pay for the trip to St Kilda, which I had decided to do after checking finances etc etc.It is obviously suiting the company and me as they offered me a double cabin for a single price no extras, as they hadnt got this filled and so I decided it was not to be missed, and it is actually going at a special anniversary time that my husband and I shared, which I chose to think of as a time to remember our sailing together. So I sorted and paid for a years annual insurance and then went through the correct channels to pay the company, but the blasted bank did not allow the funds to go through!

I am aware of the chances of scams and people paying out sums or being coerced etc., but as I had done everything correctly and used all the proper codes etc etc., I was really annoyed at the mess. This was later in the afternoon . I had to contact the company and explain that I had funds and that I will be sorting it out today, and made sure that I did not lose the very good offer I had. But of course being Good Friday there will no doubt be hassle to get into contact and get it sorted. I have never had anything like this happen before, but when I had a decent bank on the high street I simply went down and told them what I was planning, such as paying a deposit for a car, and who I was paying etc and all was fine. So we shall see how I manage today. It is a one chance to get out there and I shall be really annoyed if this wrecks it! So I need to plot how and in what order I shall attempt to get this sorted, and may have to see what I can do tomorrow when there are places open.

So that had me fuming , annoyed with the bank, annoyed with myself as if I had done this earlier before going to meet my friend I could have probably got it sorted. Well I did a few more jobs but also watched the blast off of the rocket etc. My goodness that made me feel old, as I remember so clearly watching Sputnik going overhead, being in Roumania when the men reached the moon and a man pointing to the moon and saying " a lua a lua" and all the things that happened in between. So quite a span of exploration within my lifetime, but I still think my great aunt had a greater span in hers. She went from walking or pony and trap to bicycling and driving her own car, and of course phones and tvs etc etc. Ah it has started to spit with rain, yet the sky seems to be clearing to a blue on the horizon. Think it is going to be a mixed day today for weather, so should encourage me in my sorting paperwork today.

Hope you have a successful sorting out day Mick. Susan56 sounds as though you have had a good time away , and hope you have an easy journey home. Your patchwork hearts sound lovely GrandMattie. Will they be difficult to sew on? I did some patchwork many years ago but it was all simple straight edges to sew up. Karma lady I am with you about staying off the roads today, not really tempted anyway with the chilly weather here. You are always so busy it will probably be good for you to have a rest today before tackling your next project.

Hoping all GN's are having a good start to the day and are able to meet friends and family where possible. May you all have a peaceful day today

Good morning all from a dull Black country where we have had overnight rain.
Made a start on decluttering the garage but a lot of boxes appear to belong to DS,he moved out 16yrs ago so will have to see what he wants to do with them.
Nothing planned as yet for today but have started a new book so that will play a part some time during the day.
Best wishes for anyone celebrating, safe travels those on the move and virtual hugs where needed.
Have a good day everyone whatever your plans ☀️.

Good morning from a dry but overcast N Surrey.
This long weekend I shall spend garden pottering. Mostly sorting the pots and tubs. Getting rid of old dead plants and emptying the pots. This year I am going for less is more and holding back from the temptstion of new plants. I have plenty coming out in bud, but need to reorganise not replace. It is a job I enjoy.

Years ago I would have been out there from crack of dawn and worked tirelessly all day till dusk. But now I shall take my time. No rush.
Have a lovely weeekend all, doing what you enjoy whatever that may be.

Good morning from a dullish morning where light rain is forecast later.

A quiet reflective day for us. For many years we always used to go to an afternoon concert at Snape Maltings to hear a work, like Stainer’s ‘Crucifixion’. Such concerts ceased quite a few years ago I think when the concert programmes there became more focused on more modern or less well known pieces.

We miss those and haven’t found anything really to replace them.

Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is 7°C.

FGT, thank you for reposting my post yesterday, I could not work out what had happened. As I said, I am not even firing on one cylinder!

Babydoll had us in stitches yesterday. She has started singing nursery rhymes, but making up the words.
Baa baa Black sheep, have you any cheese, yes sir, yes sir, three bags please! She a lisp, which make her even more endearing.

I went into the Citizen's Advice Bureau, to pick up something for church. (long story).
The manager is one of our fundraisers. As I was shown into her office, she called down the corridor, Look, whose here!?
Two of our parishioners, appeared and burst out laughing, when they saw it was me. They volunteer there.
I had been warned not to chat, so explained to them why.
They rolled up the blinds and were waving to Babydoll.,
She performed to her audience, 🤣

In the Sports Centre café, I did another bit of business. However, this time, it was with one of DH's former colleagues, no being hurried along this time! They were chatting for ages.

The customers in the pharmacy, were given a dance performance, much to the delight of some more parishioners, which was rewarded by a round of applause. 💗

Before going home, we visited the library. There were no Book Bug colouring sheets, so she insisted we go and ask the librarian where they were.
She was not very happy on being told there were none,
There were four librarians, trying to console her, when she told them a monster took them.
One librarian kindly copied a colouring sheet for her.
As we were leaving, she went to the desk and thanked the librarian.♥️

We took her home early (we were exhausted), because I had to open up the church.
I was so annoyed to find the morning sacristan, had done absolutely nothing in prep for last night's service.
The young sacristan, my protégé appeared, straight from work, he was even more annoyed than I was.

It was then, my mouth felt strange.
My front tooth crown had fallen out Last week's dental work must have loosened it.
I was so upset and spent the evening covering my mouth.

My priority today, is to phone the dentist! Why is my life always full of drama.

I will be delegating my duties at the 3pm service today!

I wish you all, a pleasant day. I too am worried about Pants.💐

P.S. Babydoll and I are sympatico. I now have a lisp too! 😉

A friend for dinner tonight
I hope not too chewy Grammaretto! 😂

EkwaNimitee Fri 03-Apr-26 08:34:35

Good morning Mick and everyone from grey, damp Carlisle where it has just started raining lightly.
I have just come back from my walk judging that rain was imminent, good decision! I left a pile of washing up and an unmade bed amongst other things so keen was I to get the walk in before the rain started. Now I'm on my second coffee whilst I gear myself up for action.
It's very quiet out, only the keener dog walkers about. Both swan families are now nesting. One family hasn't chased off last years cygnets, possibly they are females and no challenge to the resident cob.
Yesterday's trip into town wasn't entirely successful. Yes. I did collect my prescription but couldn't control my willpower and wandered into Hotel Chocolat in spite of my little voice of conscience telling me I wouldn't come out empty-handed. I came out with 3 smallish slabs of the stuff. As long as they are in a cupboard unopened they may last until DS2 and wife arrive in May. On the other hand, all the choc I brought back from Costa Rica has gone...and is now a belly extension !

The rest of today is unplanned. I fancy reading and will probably phone my sister for a chat. I'm feeling fairly dynamic after my walk though so might find something more energetic to do.

Grammaretto you have reminded me that Rosslyn Chapel is on my list of places to visit. I shall have to do some research as I intend to drive up probably.

I wish you all a pleasant weekend and some decent weather to enjoy and better times to all you poorlies.

Good morning from a grey windy 9 degrees Cambridgeshire. Today we are off to see DD1 & family in Leicestershire for the day. We haven’t seen them all for a while so it will be good to catch up.

I’ve just been thinking of Easter’s past with my parents. Mum & dad married on 4 April 1953 so many years ago. Well I’d better get moving now as we are hoping to be away a good time.

Happy Easter to everyone have a good day 🐣 💝

Gingster Fri 03-Apr-26 08:40:35

Good Friday Morning. ✝️.

I managed to get DH’s hearing aids fixed yesterday by a lovely young woman (audiologist). Very helpful and informative. Having had a home visit from Specsavers two months ago, she informed me they have stopped doing home appointments. It’s still being advertised .🙄.

I picked up my eye drops and was quite tired by the time I got home. I’m missing my car so much. 😢.

Dh had a phone call from the hospital with an appointment for his biopsy procedure for next Wednesday. Thank goodness. It’s been 6 weeks since the GP referred it as ‘Urgent’.

Today all the family are meeting at DS1’s for an Easter egg hunt and Bar bQ. I do hope the rain holds off.
It’s rare that all 16 of us will be together. Usually just Christmas time or special birthdays.

Love to GM and Melanie 💐💐.

A gentle day wished for all 🌺

Good morning from Stockport, it is cloudy but dry after yesterday’s beautiful sunny day.
My friend and I went to Handforth Dene , a shopping outlet, after Next and Boots I was tired so we decided to give M&as a miss, when we got to the exit of the car park it was blocked of by a police car, every other exit was gridlocked in every direction so we retired to M&S cafe when we stayed for about an hour.
When we eventually got out we saw the aftermath of the accident, it was horrific, so upsetting, I can’t see how anyone got out alive but have only heard that three people were taken to hospital.
I am off to Nottingham at lunchtime to meet up with my D and GD, they travel up from the south coast.
The weather is iffy but we shall enjoy seeing each other, it is a year since we met.
Kindest thoughts to those of you with worries and sadness, I hope you can enjoy Easter in your own way.

Good morning everyone from an overcast and damp Northampton.

Today would have been our 54th wedding anniversary; back in 1972 it was bright and sunny but with a cool breeze - and one of the best days of my life! So happy..... Remembering Mike with much love.

Yesterday I took advantage of the lovely sunshine, doing two loads of washing, and then in the afternoon cutting the back grass

Today I plan to do a little grocery top-up shop, and tonight I am out to see Northampton Saints play French team Castres in the rugby European Cup. 💚🖤💛

Better news about my DSIS, who is back in her care home after a few days in hospital after a recent fall. She is now eating and drinking again which is good news.

Wishing all a pleasant Good Friday.

WhiteSwan63 Fri 03-Apr-26 08:59:14

Good morning From a dull east coast I hope the sun shines brightly like yesterday.

It was a really pleasant day with DGD1. We hit the amusements hard which she wanted to do and she had her McDonalds. She played in two parks and had a look around the shops with me. She was really patient in Sketchers while I bought a pair of lovely slip ins for the flight to China. She tried to persuade me to buy her a garish pair of trainers full of sparkle. DD was stuck in motorway jams on the way home from work so it was a 12 hour day running around after the little ladies and I was shattered last night.
We picked up DGD2 from nursery. She is delightful but she told me ‘Grandma you have a big fat bum and my Granny’s is even bigger’ 🤦
Today we need to get our shopping for the weekend. DH is cooking a halibut risotto for dinner tonight.
GrannyIvy my parents were also married on the 4th of April.

Wishing a happy Easter to everyone with many moments of joy🌼🐣

BlueSapphire what a beautiful picture 💐

Georgesgran Fri 03-Apr-26 09:06:38

Good Morning from a cool, grey Durham, a change from yesterday’s sun.
Coffee this morning with a friend, then into M&S to pick up fruit for DGS2 who is coming tomorrow. (I don’t eat fruit). Must put a wash on - it’s built up while I’ve been poorly.
Meanwhile DD1 and family are already on the train to York.

Best wishes to all. X

‘How’s the heed this morning GG13’ after your night out with your best friend?

Usedtobeblonde Fri 03-Apr-26 09:11:01

Georgesgran I have never met anyone who doesn’t eat fruit, I could be a fruitarian ,I am sure you enjoy food I don’t though, horses for courses.

Good morning from Lancashire & happy Easter for Sunday to all the GNs.
Felt cold when I opened the bedroom window this morning. Not as lovely as yesterday.
Going to my 85 year old friends for lunch today & take her to church.
Wanted to buy her an Easter egg as she loves her chocolate but was hard pressed to find one that mentioned any Easter greeting, so end up with box of ‘Hotel chocolate’ which I think she will love.
Anyway have a lovely day whatever your plans are 😊

GrannyGravy13 Fri 03-Apr-26 09:17:14

Good morning, it’s grey and dismal here in S E Essex.

Ha ha FGT2 surprisingly ok! There was more talking than drinking 😹

It seems very odd being home over Easter, we are normally at a Centre Parcs with the children, grandchildren along with my sister and her family. This year one AC and family is in Florida, my sister is in France skiing, the others are just busy.

I am another one who is missing pamtglas 🌼

hollysteers Fri 03-Apr-26 09:41:48

Good morning from a damp northwest coast.
After my chipped tooth repair (no injection, no problem) which didn’t take long, I spent the rest of yesterday painting watercolours. I really felt in the mood and have new brushes, a present from my DD for my recent birthday.

An interesting documentary on Netflix in the evening about a predator in Seville completed the day.
There is a light display on in the town this evening, I might go along. In the meantime, Good Friday thoughts to all and nice to see your happy photo BlueSapphire✝️

Greyduster Fri 03-Apr-26 09:51:18

Georgesgran I had a neighbour who didn’t eat any fruit or vegetable other than tomatoes. She had beautiful skin and was as healthy as a horse.

Georgesgran Fri 03-Apr-26 09:59:53

I love vegetables.

Don’t know what it is about fruit - taste, texture, juice, dry, sweetness, sourness (is that even a word?). DH always ate plenty, but I’ve since given up buying any, as I was just throwing it out. At least now with DGS2, I buy a good selection and DD2 takes it all home with her.

Ilovedogs22 Fri 03-Apr-26 10:18:19

Good morning everyone from a currently overcast west mids. Its still chilly here and my fingers are now blackish/puce & corpse-like due to Raynards syndrome. We all have a cross to bear it seems. Life certainly is like a box of chocolates!
Thinking of all you Gran's who are currently struggling 🦔🐣🐇🐾
