King not to give a Christian Easter message

Buckingham Palace's decision not to release an Easter message will likely ruffle some feathers among Christians, given that in February, the King and Queen's social media account faced backlash for issuing Muslims a “blessed and peaceful Ramadan” on Shrove Tuesday.

I don’t have any religious affiliation but this has upset me.

Oh!

Has there ever been an Easter message?
I didn,t know it was a thing.
Christianity isn,t what it was
churches in my area. are closing or amalgamating because congregations have dwindled to 20 or less for Sunday services.
Even weddings are held in hotels or outdoors.
Funerals are in the crematorium.

If it hadn't been in the news I wouldn't have known...

I don’t remember an Easter message ritual and am not bothered.

I wouldn’t have given it a second thought if I hadn’t spotted the OP. 🤔🤔

I read he did a Christian one last year.

Grandmabatty Fri 03-Apr-26 20:34:55

An easter message isn't a tradition. Charles did a message last year which was multicultural but the late queen only did one and that was during covid.

Casdon Fri 03-Apr-26 21:41:22

No big deal. It would be more significant if he didn’t attend church on Sunday.

This is GB News pressing all the right buttons by telling people the King has cancelled something that didn't exist. The Bank of England cancelling Churchill must have run out of steam, but the labelling Marmalade as Citrus Marmalade is waiting in the wings. Just as well we haven't got any real problems to worry about.

It has never been a tradition!
Nothing has been cancelled.
Non story 🙈

Has there ever been an Easter message?
No, not traditionally but Charles has done so since he came to the throne.

Usually the Monarch hands out Maundy Money on Maundy Thursday, which Charles did yesterday at St Asaph Cathedral.

Christianity isn,t what it was

Christianity is still the same.

It's people who change!

A bit of a storm in a teacup. The King hasn’t snubbed the Christian faith. Now we can all sleep easily in our beds.

Camilla was with Charles at the Maundy Money service.

I don’t know if she helped him dole out the purses.

As well as the traditional money, there was a special coin to commemorate the late Queen’s 100th birthday, (or what would have been).

So this year’s recipients got a bonus.

Where I am staying the Good Friday offering is a pub crawl.

I remember when everything shut and we had to sit at home feeling sad for the entire day.

Everything will be shut on Easter Sunday, to be honest I wish that happened more regularly and I am an atheist.

There is the answer.

For those who wish to have a religious message on Easter Sunday, I think the Pope sends one to the world from Saint Peter's Square. ✨️ 🌎 ✨️

thanks Deeda totally agree, ways to wind people up in the wrong way. Times change, I've never been a Royalist but it's not a great moment to have become King, I think Charles is doing well.

JaneJudge Sat 04-Apr-26 09:47:29

he is such a rebel smile

talking of churches and Christianity though...there are new churches here that meet in insanely big buildings/places and 100s and 100s people rock up on a Sunday mid morning. I have never seen anything like it! There is one at the local LARGE Secondary school and the car park overflows and people walk there too. Yet the village I live by hardly has anyone turn up at their traditional Anglican church

The Baptists (all types) and the evangelicals, smaller congregations but still quite busy

Can't tell you anything about the Catholics as I don't near or pass any on a Sunday
