Good morning all from a brightening North Leicestershire.

We had a lovely evening with DD1 and family yesterday and a good catchup up with DGS3 and DGD1. They have big plans.

Today, DS1 is calling round with some washing as he is having trouble with his machine draining. And DD2 arrived safely in Turkey. I will be happy when they get home.

We are planning a quick trip to town later.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s dry and 15°C is forecast later with showers and high winds from 5pm. The edge of Storm Dave I suppose. Scotland’s west coast has it much worse.

Family are still in York however a friend rang yesterday to suggest a meal together near her. I can get the bus door to door so that’s handy and she’s booked a table. It’s Lebanese which I’m looking forward to. Good to try somewhere new for me. She’s widowed same age as me, her family are away too and we are glad of each other these days especially. I’ve only known her about five years. She plays a lot of golf. I introduced her to our book club and we became firm friends proving one can still make new friends later in life. 😊

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 2° and bright. There's been rain as the roads are wet. I intend to get everything done I need to this morning as a storm is forecast later today. It's coming your way, Brook!
NannyJan, dd, dsil and his dad went to see Richard Ashcroft in Glasgow and said he was marvellous. Ashcombe im glad you have a new car sorted. Bellasnana enjoy your walk with Milo.
Yesterday I got housework and washing done. It takes me longer these days. Lots of messages from ds. Then I needed to lie down for a while as I still felt dodgy, so things didn't get done.
Today I must sort the dining room and wash floors. Tesco are delivering this afternoon and I need to find space in the fridge for it all. I don't expect to see anyone today as they are all coming tomorrow. Have a good day all.

Good Morning from St Osyth in a fairly bright but nippy morning!

Still in bed, but have prepared dog’s breakfast, and put kettle on ready for DH to make my morning cuppa when he returns from early morning dog walk.

Good morning Mick and everybody from brightish Carlisle where all is calm and dry at the moment....but I'm worrying about storm Dave due later.
Yesterday was a quiet, pottering sort of day. I did have a burst of energy and emptied one of my kitchen cupboards of items only used occasionally. Only 3 got cleared out but the rest are now re-arranged in a more accessible way. I also had to re-organise my counters. I bought a small air fryer. I've not wanted or needed one till now but my newish Remoska gave up last week. I decided not to replace it for now, it's my third one...loved mine for years...but they seem not to be so well made these days and last for shorter and shorter times.
I'm going to use the air fryer for the first time today so we'll see how we get on together. It won't do all the Remoska did like a chicken stew say, I've bought something else for those sort of things, both that and the fryer together costing somewhat less than a new and possibly short-lived Remoska.
I had a long phone chat with my sister and then spent much of the afternoon reading.

Today I'm off into the country to the local butcher/delicatessen and the garden centre....need to get out of the house, cabin fever has struck!

Have a good day everyone if you can.

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s sunny and dry just now, rain forecast for later
Enjoy your family get together Ash and pleased you’ve now got your new car sorted
I had a really good night out with friends last night, we met for some food and then went onto one of the bars playing live music. Lots of foot tapping, clapping and singing along. I can report back to Jax that I did well and wasn’t too led astray, so no sore head this morning 😇 Today we’ve a workman calling round to quote for some repairs to our leaking gutters so when he’s been we’re off out for a little walk and a nice coffee somewhere.
I’ve never tried a Biscoff Banana loaf NannyJan but one of my friends told me the Biscoff Mini Easter eggs are delicious
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Good morning everyone from a slightly overcast Northampton.

Yesterday felt quite mild but there was a gusty wind, and I managed to get my shopping done in the dry.
It promised rain for my rugby match, but all we had was a sprinkling, not enough.to dampen our spirits. We faced a tough challenge last night, playing a very good French team, Castres, in the European Cup. But we came out winners in the end and came home happy; through to the quarter-finals next week.💚💛💚

Thinking about a ride out to Rushden Lakes shopping centre today, with perhaps lunch out - I have some M&S vouchers burning a hole in my purse!

Wishing all a pleasant day.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where it is much calmer than it was yesterday, when the wind was rearranging the garden furniture and blew a feeder off the plum tree twice, scattering seed everywhere. The pigeons had a field day. I stayed in mostly, declutterring and cleaning the two bedrooms I don’t use and throwing out said clutter - mostly stuff from abandoned art projects. DS rang for a catch up during a break from cleaning his patio, and I had a walk down to the supermarket to buy bread at tea time when it had calmed down a bit and had a long conversation with a neighbour I don’t see very often.

DD and the menfolk made it to the top of Pen y Ghent in the most horrendous weather and were drying out at the Station Inn at Ribblehead where they were staying. She sent me a photo of their “weather station”! They come home today.

Today I have a bit of shopping to do for tomorrow’s lunch and hope to get out into the garden where there is much to do.

Have the best day you can, folks.

Gagagran Sat 04-Apr-26 07:43:39

Good Morning all from the central south coast where we have a duvet layer of cloud and some showers in the forecast.

DH is out for a morning coffee and cake ride with his cycling chums but will be back for lunch. Especially as our DGS is calling in to see us before meeting up with old school friends. They are all back from university for the Easter break. Seems like only yesterday that he loved to play dominoes with his Grandad on the rug in the sitting room! He is still the sweet natured boy he has always been but they no longer play dominoes!

Thinking as always of all our strugglers coping with sadness, pain or worries of any kind and hope there is some ease and comfort today for us all. sunshine

Redcar Sat 04-Apr-26 07:43:01

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny mid Essex.
A mostly cloudy day yesterday but dry. As usual, any showers forecast seem to pass us by, so I’m watering the plants in pots already.
I did more weeding yesterday, gradually clearing a patch by the silver birch tree at the end of the garden. I was entertained by live music coming from the pub at the end of the road, which is having a beer festival!
Nothing planned for the day, I may be forced to do some admin tasks and tidy the dining room. It’s rapidly turning into a dumping ground for things. If my back allows I may resume the weeding!

Have the best day you can everyone, thinking of those who are poorly or struggling with life’s challenges.

Good morning from soggy South Lanarkshire.

I didn’t get a lot of sleep despite being very tired when I went to bed so I’m now feeling pretty groggy, thankfully I don’t have much to do today.

Stripping the beds and cleaning the house is really all that needs done then I intend to spend a couple of hours on the couch with my book. Lovely as it was to have my sister staying I’m happy to have the house back to ourselves.

Wishing everyone a good day.

WhiteSwan63 Sat 04-Apr-26 07:30:23

Good morning from a bright east coast. I think it’s going to be stormy overnight though.

Today we are driving down the coast to the orchid festival at Burton Agnes Hall. We have been going to visit for years but are usually really busy on Easter Saturday. The family are all doing their own thing today so we thought why not. We’ll make a day of it and have a wander around Bridlington.

We had a video chat yesterday with DS and DGS in China yesterday. We were watching them play together marvelling at how GS is growing and chatting. We can’t wait to see them at the end of the month. DS was explaining to him in fluent Chinese that we are staying in their house and we will be taking him out to the park and having fun together. It always amazes us how good DSs Chinese is. Little GSs english is very good though. He’s a bright boy. When we told DS what we were doing today he was less than impressed. I said you wait until you are our age you will be marvelling at nature around you and enjoying plants and flowers. In his ground of the apartment it’s full of Frangipani trees all in flower and we marvel at them but he didn’t even notice them. I swear he walks around staring at the pavement or looking at his phone. Their temperatures go up to the mid 30s this week.

Wishing everyone a lovely Easter Saturday with moments of joy 🌼🐣

NannyJan53 Sat 04-Apr-26 06:53:19

Good morning from a dull but brightening Black Country.

Yesterday felt like Saturday! Didn't really do a lot, some housework, then made a Biscoff Bannana Loaf, as I had a jar of Biscoff Spread coming to it's use by date. It was quite tasty!

Today we are off to Birmingham on the train later, to check into a Hotel, ready for a gig tonight. We are going to see Richard Ashcroft. I originally bought tickets for MrJ's birthday present as I knew he would like to see him. Only to find a few days later he had bought some also. Luckily I sold mine on the App, and bought a Spa Day for his birthday instead. So a relaxing day coming up with an overnight stay at the end of the month.

Wishing you all a lovely Easter weekend

madeleine45 Sat 04-Apr-26 06:49:11

Good morning Mick and all GN's from a dark still but very cold morning in North Yorkshire. Another rubbish night and I am creaking around. For some reason I thought it was Easter Sunday at first, so it took a little adjustment for me to remember it was saturday, and alter my plans for the day! Poor sleeping patterns definitely plays havoc with workings of the brain in my case!

Yesterday a quiet day at home, trying to do things and keep away from traffic. It was a slow plod and paperwork that I had thought would be simple caused quite a bit of hassle and there is still things to be done today now. I had problems with the laptop, and while I could read things easily it didnt want me to add my comments . Then after a lot of thought and checking up, I had decided to go ahead with my trip to St Kilda and after doing the insurance with no problem at all, my wretched credit card would not put the money through to the company . I got very annoyed and irritated with myself, the card, and everything. Became more anxious that I would lose the place and the good offer if I didnt get something done, but didnt want the wretched bank to stop my credit card working, and leave me with nothing available over the holiday.

I felt so annoyed that I decided I needed to calm down before I tried anything. I was full of aches and pains as well and didnt even feel able to walk round the garden with the wind blowing quite wildly, but where there's a will there's a way! So I uncovered the yellow peril and did a rather wild west drive round the garden. I knew that if the grass cutter machine could drive round with impunity , my buggy should be ok, so I "saddled up" got my secateurs at the ready and blew round the garden on the buggy. It worked quite well , as it became quite a game and needed some concentration. So there are daffodils round the trees and others in island beds and under hedges etc. They were definitely dancing in the wind yesterday, so I drove the buggy close by and then it was concentration to be able to just deadhead them, but with the wind swirling about and the daffodils dancing about, it needed a darts type aim, to just snip the heads off at the right time and not cut those flowers still blooming. A brilliant interlude, as at the end I had done a good job and all the beds looked much better and it will mean that the efforts will go into the bulbs for next year. The snipping had been quite cathartic and needed concentration and so I came back in , looking like the wild woman of the west, and very cold but calmer.

This allowed me to begin to use my brain in a better way, and after a further unsuccessful attempt online I found the phone number of the company and got the answerphone of course as it was Good Friday. I explained the problem, assured them I was definitely planning to come on the trip, that I had already arranged insurance - which I thought would show them my good intentions, and then for good measure send an email to their address, repeating what I had done, and asking if they would send me an email to confirm receipt etc etc.

I then got an email from one of the directors who was working at home and ended up ringing her up. She understood completely about the bank situation, and actually was in a similar position herself having tried to pay for something that there were plenty of funds available yet the credit card would not let her go ahead. So it was actually very worth while speaking to her. She reassured me that my place on the trip was not going to disappear and we also checked over various little bits and pieces, and so I am not going to bother to try to do anything until tuesday when I shall be onto the bank first thing.

Well that was calming and I continued rather slowly plodding on with jobs , whilst listening to the St Matthew Passion, with my very favourite piece of music "Er baume dich" which I just sat with eyes closed in peace and quiet . The St Matthew is , for me , the most beautiful of the passions and I was able to enjoy it in peace and quiet and it calms me down and puts things into perspective and lets me relax and be thankful for the things I have, especially the joy of music which has given me so much pleasure in many ways in my life. I sat quietly at the end and then suddenly realised I hadnt got the D and S, my local paper which has all the happenings on in the villages round here and of course local news.

So I decided that the local garage might have one in and set off on the buggy again, only to be surprised by a road closure I hadnt expected. I just went a different way, but this is all the extra hassle with the railway, who have of course closed much of the lines round here and they are doing major works all round here, which not only seems to affect the actual lines but closing various roads and as much inconvenience as they seem able to do! If they really get a lot done it will be worth it to have one bad patch but I am not holding my breath and will not be planning any rail journeys soon.

So with my paper and a coffee and had already got some mince made up ready for dinner with cauli and cabbage and potatoes, I then had a quiet evening reading bits, watching Gardeners World and just having a quiet time to myself. Didnt hear from my son or anyone but was quite happy in my own space.

Today I shall definitely be putting winter clothes on for a trip to the market and the shops for anything I need, but wont be loading a huge trolley up . I looked after a family, had to do quite a bit of entertaining over the years for quite large groups, but I dont ever remember filling trollies up to the brim as I seem to see families doing these days. The local garage was charging 154.9 for petrol , so I shall be continuing to use my buggy for as much as possible and eak out the fuel I have in the car for as long as possible.

So apart from shopping today I am still on the hunt for elusive paperwork and although I am getting through stuff , I have now got 3 folders for different sorts of paperwork outstanding, so that I dont let things get into such a mix up again. I have a fireproof box for important documents but it is things that need sorting first that I need to do. I also think I have saved quite a large amount of tesco points and plan to look at their deals and see if I can use them to get something I need at a good price, but that is not important compared to the other stuff. So fingers crossed I find some of the missing things and can enjoy looking out at the daffodils looking tidier for my ministrations. If it stays this cold I shall not be tempted to go out to anywhere but have plenty of food to concoct some good meals and will be happy not to be out on the roads today.

Hope you have a good journey into Bicester Mick. It will be good to have a gentle day Bellasnana and I am sure Milo will enjoy a walk. Thankyou for the picture GrandMattie, Yes it was me that wanted to know about it. I shall watch with interest how you make it all. I struggle with my hands quite a bit these days, ok on here as I am a touch typist , but knitting and sewing can be quite painful and then I also get annoyed that I cant do it well these days, so prefer to admire all the great things that all you talented GN's do . I still have a very ancient sewing apron I made in school, with applique on it and I was quite proud of it and pleased with the colours in those days. Ah well I shall try to stick to my gardening and by dint of longer handled tools and working out ways and means will hope to get the borders all planted up to suit me. Wishing everyone an enjoyable and successful day and looking forward to Easter day.

Morning Mick, morning All. I’m hoping the forecast is right and our corner of Somerset will have a dry and much less windy day.

Yesterday’s wind was foul but it did dry the bedding while sounding noisily through the large trees along the riverbank.

A grocery top up this morning, possibly a garden centre or just some garden pottering this afternoon.

Best wishes to everyone. Have the best day you can.

Ashcombe Sat 04-Apr-26 06:42:50

Good morning from a calm and dry Torbay.

Lovely pattern, grandMattie!

I’m glad the weather has settled in Malta, Bellasnana but sorry the Good Friday processions were cancelled.

Yesterday we chose a car for me at the Ford dealer in Torquay - it’s a Ford Puma automatic. It’s currently in Plymouth so will take a week or so to be delivered and prepared. I hope to test drive it on Saturday, if it’s ready. I’ve asked to have Diamondbrite treatment for the paintwork as that protects it from the seagulls' calling cards!

Today my DS and DGS3 are meeting us at our favourite pub for breakfast before travelling back to the Midlands.

Thinking of absent friends and those who are unwell. 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩

karmalady Sat 04-Apr-26 06:33:39

Good morning from cloudy s somerset

A lovely varied and relaxing day yesterday, far from the madding crowd and indoors, a few spinning sessions were involved and a few things were moved so that my rebounder is now going to be permanent in my hall.

I could hear cows mooing and birds twittering while I hung the washing out, bumble bees were busy on my blueberry bushes and drinks were taken outside in the sun, coat on

There is a pop of sun around 10am today so I am going to the allotment to plant my charlotte potatoes. Later today I will sort seeds, ready to get into the sowing sequence for this year.

RosesandLilac Sat 04-Apr-26 06:03:56

grandMattie that practice square is beautiful! I don’t have the patience or the attention to detail to do quilting.
I was just thinking that make a lovely design for a cushion cover 😍
You really are a very talented person x

RosesandLilac Sat 04-Apr-26 06:01:22

Good morning from south Glos, I don’t know what the weather’s doing as I haven’t looked outside yet.
Yesterday DS and family went out for a long walk and to a plant nursery looking for trees for their garden. The boys spent several hours doing drawings and painting while we sat and chatted.
It’s so nice having them here. DDIL is knitting DS a jumper; as he’s 6’4” with long arms it’s taking a while 😁.
I don’t know what their plans are today but they’re going to help replace the wires on my fence that support a big climbing rose, not an easy job I fear.
I hope today goes well for you all 🙏🌹

grandMattie Sat 04-Apr-26 05:45:45

Good morning from a dryish Bristol.
bellas, you must be happy that the temperatures are rising again. It was mild here, it very wet and windy a.m., the just windy in the afternoon.
Attached is a “heart” block, I think it was madelaine who wondered how it would be done. I’ve only cut out that practice one; I like to batch make, it’s a pattern I’ve yet to make.
My glasses, once adjusted again, seem brilliant; no headache , which means they are good! It took me 90 minutes of buses there and back for 10 minutes of adjustment…
I had my upstairs neighbour come round and fill a plate with goodies for her grandsons today, leftovers from Wednesday.
Today, I need to clean my bit of the church, so I’ll go early and hope not to tread on the flower arrangers’ toes. Then I’ll have coffee with the usual Saturday morning gang.
I don’t think I’ll go to the fire service at DD’s church in town as it means taking a bus in the evening, so shall have a quiet time.
May you all have a gentle day, free from sadness and anxiety.
Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩❤️🦩

Bellasnana Sat 04-Apr-26 05:33:29

Good morning from Malta where we expect a mostly fine day with a high of 20°C.

I took Milo dog for a fairly long walk yesterday as the sun came out for a while but it was so very windy I can’t say I enjoyed it. Poor little dog needed to get out though and he didn’t seem to mind being blown to kingdom come!

DD3 and family return late tonight after what looks like a fun packed few days in Bologna.

Most of the Good Friday processions were cancelled yesterday due to the wind. I can’t remember that happening before.

Not much on the agenda today so will take it as it comes. Definitely a walk with Milo as it’s supposed to be a pleasant day.

Wishing a good day to all.☀️
