I returned to Gransnet a little while ago. I had been a member years ago. In between times, a few years involved a house move, change of laptop and tablet and, more worryingly, a loss of my password book!
This time round I decided I'd avoid any political discussion.
Part of my leaving involved what seemed like a ganging-up against me, I stuck to my guns with informed opinion, but one very cruel, hurtful and personal comment aimed at me was so far from the truth it had me in tears. I left, rather than continue fighting my corner. Who needs online grief ?
I was delighted on return to see so many of the old, lovely posters were still here. I love that we can share our goings-on, find warmth, humour, consolation and solace here as well as get a glimpse into each other's lives. I like too that we can share different viewpoints and learn from others.
There are some posters I think I'd get in really well with, in "real life" as they come across so well. Gransnet is is like a ( mostly) friendly cafe where chatting to people you don't know is a pleasure and you leave, glad of the interaction. A bit like bus stops chats with strangers - the day is brightened, a concern is aired or a laugh is shared.
