Arrived home from work yesterday just after 4 and standing at the door listening to the hilarious conversations of 2 birds!

We all know how very human-sounding their voices are at times! Funny little squeaky voices as if they've been on helium!

One - Where've you been?
Two - I'm here!

One - No, you're not!
Two - Yes, I am!
One - You're a birdie! HA HA HA!

Two - Where's Bill?
One - On the farm!
Two - Are you sure? HA HA HA!

I had tears streaming down my face, doubled over with laughter!

The day of my daughter's graduation, we walked down by the river, onto the meadow, as 1, 2, 3, 4...then finally a 5th Magpie landed very near to us! So near we really couldn't ignore them! I remarked, "1 for sorrow, 2 for joy, 3 for a girl."..paused, then carried on jokingly, "4 for a boy, and 5, ...5 is for Silver!!!", I declared, looking round, "has anyone got any silver?" I looked at my daughter...she held our her hands, several silver rings, silver bracelets jangled, and 2 silver necklaces?. "Omg!! You are going to have SUCH good luck today I declared!" What happened next? Her phone rang as she was taking her seat in the graduation hall. She was offered her dream job. Then she graduated. That evening she had a call to say the landlord had accepted them for the flat they wanted. I'm not normally superstitious, but that seemed to be extraordinary good luck for one 1 single day. smile The birds know more than they let on! ;)

So funny but I smile every time I remember what my granddaughter told me about her little Bichon Frieze dog's action.

When his feeding bowl was empty, he climbed up his little doggy step onto the bed with the bowl in his mouth and put it in front of her.

His name is Louis and he also tugs at his lead and turns towards home when he has had enough of the park walk.smile

Magenta8- aww, thats lovely, but so sad..we have a visiting ginger tom (whose supposed to live nxt door!) who comes and paws at my patio doors and when he's greeted my old black cat by rubbing noses,he comes inside meowing for either food /attention.He spends warmer days in middle of our garden, curled up, asleep.Theres also a white/black one(supposed to be next dr but one!) who sleeps on our garden storage unit, and paws at windows for attention. They all love our garden as its peaceful.(woman next dr had audacity to say,the cats had fought over 'ownership' of my garden!) But it actually 'belongs' to my own older lovely cat(19 soon) who only goes out a few minutes at a time,& he is happy to share his garden.😸It's not our fault if their cats dont like them/their garden.😹😼

My own black cat i can have endless 'conversations' with, and he likes to get the last word in!- i ask what he wants,he says "out"(in a meow sound, but very distinctive) or if food,he just licks his lips.If not he sounds like "no,out" & we have other 'chats' where i can decipher his different mewings,or he nods in reply, etc. He also snorts in right places when he's fed up too.And understands all i say to him, and acts accordingly.Cats are so intelligent.

Theres a local cat, a stripey one, comes in garden very occasionally, who dissapears over the back fence with the empty plastic bowl in its mouth if its eaten any leftovers.I wonder where its taking them?😸😹

We had a blackbird in the garden for a few years which we swore sang the song 'I'm in the money'.
Then later we had one which called 'Doo be doo be doo'.

I'm not sure about the birds, though there are some in the trees here sound a bit like "what are you doing?"- but i think if i can converse with the cats, its likely the birds do it as well i guess🤔

I have great tits (well of course!!!) in my nest box. I was trying to use an app to record their song to make sure I had identified them correctly. I got some very strange replies ... until I realised that the metal latch on my neighbour's shed was squeaking in the wind!

Foxyferret

My pigeons seem to be saying ‘You don’t know nothin’. Hoo hoo hoo hoohoo. Obvously grammar is not their strongest.

Nah, they're just Londoners
