Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark and dry and cold outside here in Brackley this morning.
My plans for the day will be based around a cycle race on TV which is on from early morning till late featuring men's and women's races, having a light lunch as well .
I did manage to buy some Jersey Royals potatoes yesterday plan to steam and have with mint maybe eat cold .
Health OK,
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from Bristol. Chilly and rather windy, with rain forecast. April showers, eh?
Enjoy the feast of cycling, Mick; and there is nothing like real Jersey Royals! I think their wonderful flavour comes from the “wraik” seaweed thrown up by winter storms, that they use as fertiliser.

grandMattie Sun 12-Apr-26 05:27:06

Posted too soon.
One of my regulars (he is blind) at church chastised me for not shaking his hand during the Peace on a Sunday. Apart from not really liking it, I find the press of people going round rather irritating, so just greet the worshippers round me. I said I’d obey orders 😆
Quiet afternoon making marmalade, watching the Grand National, and reading. Oh, and sewing som3 more pennants to tape. I think that will b3 at least 200. I hope there will be enough bunting after this, especially as I’m not the only sewer.
Today, I’m baking for Wednesday as the first three days of next week are frenetic and very full. I shall make an apricot and cranberry cake, my favourite, as a birthday present to myself. The icing with cranberry powder is a garish luminous pink, which always makes me laugh.
Have a blessed Sunday and that it will be gentle fo4 you.

Good morning from Malta where the forecast is for a fine day at first with a possibility of dirty rain later and a high of 23°C.

Thank you for your well wishes for DD1. She says her throat is less sore but still has an awful cough. The irony is that she worked all through the pandemic in a hospital doing MRI’s and never caught Covid. She thinks she caught it at a children’s party.

My plans went out the window yesterday as, just as I had showered and dressed for a morning of cleaning, I received a text from my friend who asked if I was up for a coffee.

A quick change of costume and I walked up to the village to meet her. It was very hot yesterday so we sat out for our coffee and were joined, quite by chance, by one of my neighbours. She is a lovely lady, 86, widowed three years ago after 60 years of marriage and still managing on her own, driving etc. She is very lonely though so I gave her my number and told her to call or text me any time. She lives in a flat above me after her daughters moved her from her home town to be nearer to them.

Got home in time for the tennis and both semifinals went the way I had hoped! The final today should be a good one between Sinner and Alcaraz.

I hope Mr MD is behaving himself and taking his tablets on time. I laughed out loud at him putting on his gown over his clothes 😂

Hoping madeleine is feeling better today and that Gingster’s DH is recovering . What a worry.

My yard is still not cleaned and it won’t be today either since the Sahara is planning to deposit some more of its red sand on us later.

Wishing you the best day possible.☀️

Good morning Mick and all GN's from a wet chilly grey and breezy day in North Yorkshire. No sign of any sun and looks like a day to catch up with jobs inside.

I had a horrible day yesterday, and it didnt improve physically either. When the day starts badly I have had to learn not to push myself but go with the flow, and usually after a shower and coffee and a slow start things improve. I have to work the balance of moving about and doing some stretches etc and sitting down when I need to. Whatever I tried to do, didnt work yesterday and it was very frustrating .

I had planned to go to the market on the yellow peril but felt so awful that I gave up that plan, and only went to Tesco in the car, used their buggy to get the basic requirements and the Yorkshire Post and came home. I had to leave stuff in the car until I felt able to get it out, but no frozen stuff so it didnt matter. The rubbish day continued and the best I could manage was to at least get washed up and the kitchen tidy, but even abandoned planned cooking and got some cooked mince that I had in the freezer and that at least made me something decent to eat and warming.

I spent some time looking at the grand national runners and then watched it on tv. Many years ago I used to ride out for someone and followed racing and any horse things . Going to school in Beverley, we had the race course there and in this area of north Yorkshire there are quite a lot of racing stables and racecourses. But these days I dont attempt to go to them in person, cant do the walking about. The liverpudlians really make a great time of the National and I like seeing all the various groups making the most of their outings, whether it is ladies wearing their very best outfits and hats or the syndicates proud of their horses. I remember when they brought the Ascot race meeting to York and what a buzz it was then. It is cheering to see people determined to enjoy their special day out, given the doom and gloom in the world at the moment. I dont see it as "fiddling while Rome burns" but "we wont be beaten and will find something special to enjoy" So I watched the race, but hadnt put any bet on , but had hoped that Panic Attic - the mare - would be in the running and was sorry she went so early.

Anyway the racing and the paper kept me interested and I could kid myself that I was choosing to do that rather than I flipping couldnt do anything else. Despite doing very little I felt exhausted and went to bed early, but still had a rotten night, if I turned over in my sleep the pain would wake me up so I cant say I feel much better. However I have Bach before 7 and Private Passions to look forward to on the radio, and if it clears up I shall go outside for a breath of fresh air at least. If the sun comes out and the day warms up I shall put a chair outside and sit out with a book to read. I am trying to get out in any sunshine there is as I am having to take vitamin D and so need to get what sunshine I can. Good excuse to get out if there is any about. Shant hold my breath! Well with no plans anything will be a bonus.

Mick, hope your cycling is worth watching. I used to love Jersey Royals and my husbands birthday used to be the first time for them as a treat. They had a very special taste , quite different from any others and yes I think it was the seaweed. I have been disappointed these last few years , when I have bought them as dont think they are as special. Dont know if they are treating them differently now or it is my tastebuds but dont find them so good, but ah yes which is best, simply boiled with lots of butter or made into a lovely potato salad. GrandMattie you will be sick of pennant sewing but your cake sounds lovely and I wish you a happy birthday for the day it arrives. Bellasnana thank you for your good wishes and I am with you, jobs can be put on the back burner if you have the chance to see friends. Wish we could have some of your sunshine here today.

Well wishing everyone a peaceful and pleasant sunday, and a chance to see more blossom and flowers to remind us things will get better.

Grandmabatty Sun 12-Apr-26 06:39:23

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 7° and damp. Quite breezy too. The sky is very stormy looking GrandMattie is it your birthday today? Bellasnana that's was kind of you to befriend your neighbour. I hope Marydolls dh is doing as he's told!
Yesterday I was in domestic goddess mode. I did everything I planned and washed the floors foreby. (An old Scots word, I think, meaning as well) I had to nip to aldi for rolls as i had no bread to do for breakfast or lunch. Of course i came away with other stuff i didnt need as tesco was delivering later. The tesco delivery driver and I had a nice discussion about my new car. He had noticed it as we'd been discussing cars the last time he delivered. Hes a lovely man.
Later I watched tv and had an early night.
Today is another quiet day. I have no plans but have a delivery coming, so I'll stay in for that. I'll make soup for dgs2 for tomorrow, roast a gammon, make cauliflower cheese and a pineapple upside-down cake. So a day in the kitchen beckons. Have a good day all

grandMattie Sun 12-Apr-26 06:41:00

No batty, it’s next week. But thank you.

Ashcombe Sun 12-Apr-26 06:44:41

Good morning from bright but breezy Torbay following a wet night, evidence of which is still around in the many large puddles, often in the potholes which are a feature of many roads here, as elsewhere!

Yesterday was a bit of a non-day for me as I was overcome with tiredness. I think all the rigmarole of changing the car and the worry of sorting things out in terms of insurance, DVLA, organising an extension of the loan of the hire car, etc had taken its toll. A day at home followed by good night's sleep seems to have restored me.

Thinking of all those with health concerns and loved ones in hospital, especially Marydoll and Gingster.

A blessed Sunday to you all. 🦩🥰✝️💐🦩

Marzipan22 Sun 12-Apr-26 06:45:47

Good morning from a calm, mild but much colder Cornwall. I enjoy the drop in temperature though. I bought a tiny painting of a gull yesterday at the art exhibition. Found that the art group meet on a day I'm already busy, so that's sorted my potential desire to paint with them. Afterwards I went with my sons and families to see the Mario movie. We took up the entire back row of the little cinema, a very popular place converted from a hall where I had ballet lessons as a child. None of us could understand the film but it was very good fun and kept a whole cinema full of very young children rapt and amazingly silent.

Beforehand my grandson had a friend, aged eight, to play. The friend was asked if he'd like to come with us. Yes please! he said. My son rang his dad to ask if he could come. The dad said, 'Hang on a minute, I'll go and ask him.' My son said, 'But he's already in our house!' I felt quite sad that the parents had no idea where he was.

Around lunchtime I had popped casually into a charity shop while waiting for a bus and paid £9 for a virtually new waterproof Seasalt coat currently for sale online for £180! A bit of serendipity. Still can't believe it!

I'm going to lunch at the beautiful home of a couple in my church home group today. One of my sons is coming too, as our families have been invited.

RosesandLilac Sun 12-Apr-26 07:03:34

Good morning, bright and chilly here in south Glos.
Your birthday cake sounds delicious grandMattie sending you very happy birthday wishes for next week.
I have my PETCT scan Wednesday this week, a list of instructions and one step closer to knowing exactly what’s going on. I feel sick much of the time, certainly not brave!
DH will drop me off and come back to pick me up later.
I ordered a new vacuum cleaner yesterday, the house is looking in need of a thorough clean and tidy so I will try to work through it this week. I could get a cleaner but I would still need to do a thorough tidy first…..
I hope you all have a peaceful day x

Good Morning from Durham. At the moment, it’s bright and still, but it’s forecast windy again and feeling cool.
I’m taking Little Dog home at 11, then we’re taking DGS2 to the theatre. I hope he enjoys the performance - it’s Monsters by Tom Fletcher. We’ll probably get some lunch before or after, then I’ll decide if I want to have Little Dog for a few more days.

Sorry to hear Ginster’s DH’s in hospital.
Hope MD is making progress with her DS - is it just men?? Look after yourself.

Best wishes to all. X

Gagagran Sun 12-Apr-26 07:14:23

Good Morning all from a bright central south coast. We too have puddles so assume it rained in the night.

Dh has planned that we do the laundry today as his cycling gear basket is full again. It has become a regular Sunday morning activity, as a joint enterprise. It's a big help with my arm problem.

I suspect he will be watching the same cycle race as Mick today - Paris-Roubaix also known as the hell of the north. I may join him for some of it as my favourite rider is in it and hopefully will win.

What a bargain Marzipan - someone in the charity shop priced that Seasalt coat without realising how much they are new! Well spotted you and hope it proves to be waterproof!

Good wishes to all strugglers with problems and thinking especially of Marydoll trying to organise her DH into a bit of sense! She makes it sound so amusing but it must be exhausting for her. Have you thought of getting a cattle prod Mary? Just an idea! grin

Melanie61 Sun 12-Apr-26 07:15:36

Good morning from Sheffield

I feel for you Roses, I hope that once you know exactly what you’re fighting and what treatment you will have that you will feel a bit better.

I am planning a gardening day , I have things that need moving that are too heavy for me. DH is my muscle today.

We went around to our youngest DS last night. They have been on holiday for a week . They had a takeaway curry and we went round to share that with them . It was nice to see them all.

Take care everyone flowers

monk08 Sun 12-Apr-26 07:21:30

No plans for today as yet see how I feel once I've had some breakfast.
Beef for dinner.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans ☀️.

Sar53 Sun 12-Apr-26 07:23:08

Good morning from the Essex coast.
The sun is shining at the moment, hopefully it will last.
I'm taking DH to rugby training this morning, his grandsons not him grin.
He is very frustrated that he still cannot see very much and cannot be in a bright room at all.
I hope MD and Gingster husbands are improving, what a worry for you both.
Have a good Sunday everyone, best wishes to all xx

Gingster Sun 12-Apr-26 07:29:09

Good morning all and thank you so much for all your kind thoughts for my Dh.

He’s still having tests but the walking is no better. I must speak to the nurse today to see what’s going to happen.
DS2 set up his dad’s I pad so that he can watch the sport but Dh isn’t great at operating it. He won’t read and doesn’t like using the phone so he’s very bored. DS an DIL picking me up at 11 to go and visit.

I’m glad you have your pet scan appointment this week Roses. Try not to worry too much. 💐.

I hope Marydolls Dh is doing as he’s told.🤞.

What a bargain Marzipan. You’ve got a good eye. I never find anything in a charity shop.

Best wishes to all struggling.🌺

luluaugust Sun 12-Apr-26 07:37:24

Good morning from a sunny W Kent. Our day out to Sandwich went well despite the grey sky. We had a tour of the museum and looked in at small art galleries. Lunch was at an ancient pub.
Today is a quiet day at home.
Best wishes to all

Redcar Sun 12-Apr-26 07:39:03

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s sunny and cool at the moment. I had planned to change my winter duvet to a lighter one today, but I think I’ll wait another day or two as cold nights are forecast until Wednesday!
Yesterday was lovely, I went to DD1’s for a family get together before my younger niece returns to Australia with her son this coming week. They were here for her mother’s funeral last Thursday. It was great to see them, her son is 14 but still plays happily with his younger girl cousins, who are all happy to chase around with him.

Nothing planned for today but ironing and housework are beckoning!

I hope that gingster’s DH is feeling better today and that the hospital can determine what the problem is and treat it successfully.

I also hope that marydoll’s DH is taking his medication on time!

ash a stressful time for you with lots of decisions to be made, I hope you will enjoy driving your new car!

Thinking of all those who are finding life a challenge at the moment and hope that their challenges become less difficult today.

Have the best day possible everyone.

karmalady Sun 12-Apr-26 07:39:32

Good morning from s somerset, showery, bright and cool today

Allotment visit shortly, in my car as the exit road here is too muddy to cycle. I will be putting some fleece back over my early potatoes, could be some frost tomorrow morning

DDs are up and prepping for their various sporting events today, Ddil has got a (specialised) job in Aberdeen and they are celebrating this weekend. They moved from Glasgow to Aberdeen recently. I could hear the relief when I spoke to ds.

I walked into town yesterday, 0.15 miles and popped into a special shop to see if they had nibs, I was making truffles and needed more nibs. To my astonishment they had them, I now have 30 small chocolate truffles in my freezer. Date and cacao are the main ingredients, an ayurvedic recipe. I do like a treat after lunch

Dust has descended via the wind and showers, I will ignore, no point dusting as it will appear again by tomorrow.

A calm day planned, lots of chatting to AC and my siblings, spinning, eating nice healthy food and I will watch another episode of the paradise.

Susan56 Sun 12-Apr-26 07:39:38

ginny Sun 12-Apr-26 07:40:06

Good morning from Bilbao, our first stop off. It should have been Tangier but high sea swell put a stop to that. Just waiting for the coach to take us off for a tour.
Yesterday we were at sea and and enjoyed an art class, a craft class and joined in with the choir . A good show in the evening, some very good singers.
Hope you all have a pleasant day with a smile along the way.

GrannyGravy13 Sun 12-Apr-26 07:41:11

Good morning from a bright S E Essex, I can see the clouds gathering though 🤷‍♀️

Nothing happening here today, roast pork for dinner this evening.

I hope your DH is behaving himself Marydoll

Gingster fingers crossed the medics can find out what is going on with your DH 🤞🏻

RosesandLilac sending you a (((hug))) and a virtual hand hold🌸

Melanie I hope your aches and pains recede and you can resume your daily routines 🌸

kittylester Sun 12-Apr-26 07:45:13

Good morning all from a bright North Leicestershire where there is rain forecast for later.

DH and DS1 are going to the match today- they have decided not to renew their season tickets next time - a bit of a blow really, I enjoy my empties when they go to home games.

DGS1 is calling in on his way home to Edinburgh.

Shopping with DGS4 (Bertie) was a doddle - he is of the hit and run school of shopping. We had bought jeans, shorts and t shirts, had Nando's and were home by 2 pm. We were also considerably poorer.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Susan56 Sun 12-Apr-26 07:46:47

Sar, I’m sorry your DH is still struggling with his sight.I really hope it improves for him 🙏🏻

dragonfly46 Sun 12-Apr-26 07:56:00

Good morning from, as kitty says, a bright Leicestershire although it is pretty windy.

My wonderful robot will cut the grass today while I go and play Scrabble with friends.

Pleased to hear you have your scan booked Roses. My oncologist rang with my results just over a week later so I hope you get your results quickly. Our PET scans are done by a private company so tend to be very efficient.

Sorry to hear your DH is still not walking well Gingster. I hope you find him a little better today although I always found things pretty slow on the ward at the weekends.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.
