Good Morning Saturday 18th April 2026
(56 Posts)Good Morning Everyone,
Its just starting to get twilight bt its dry here in Brackley this morning.
Todays plans , get the bus to Bicester do a shop but before go for a coffee and a bite to eat , I may return later for a beeer or two .
My health seems OK,
Take Care,
Mick
Good morning from a lovely sunny Suffolk. As well as more cowslips are appearing than we’ve ever had before so are dandelions so I think a spot of weeding is required. They should be easy to dislodge as the ground is so dry.
DH is being very sensible about his new hearing aids fitted yesterday. Although he is finding them ‘tinny’ he accepts what he was told at the clinic that it will take 7-10 days for them to settle down and will persevere with them. He says that he was told that many people don’t.
I couldn’t believe how low the sound was on the tv last night. I didn’t comment as I thought he might say perhaps I needed them too!
Hope today has some pleasure and where needed comfort for all.
Morning all from West Oxfordshire, I think it’s going to be sunny but windy today.
After yesterday’s disappointment with having to cancel my trip to London and an emergency trip to see my podiatrist, I will do little today! Well, apart from the laundry which had piled up and one or two drawers which need clearing out.
We are having lunch out tomorrow and next week looks busy, so a quiet Saturday looms. We tend not to do a lot at the weekend anyway. As we are retired we can do things during the week.
R&L 🌹
Good morning and another sunny start here in Essex.
My friends picked me up for our pub lunch and it was nice to get out for a couple of hours with chatty pals and catch up with all their weeks doings. Dh was fine at home with Dd popping in. Dh doesn’t like a lot of chat but dd does, so she does a bit of pootling around and talks to the dog. 😅.
I do hope the other DH’s are getting some relief, Mr.Marydoll and Mr.Sar.
Ash not a good start for that child, with a father like that.
Bellasnanna Milo is the cutest dog.🐾🐾.
Marzipan I hope you feel better soon. Mind the paint fumes don’t make your breathing worse. Hopefully the man in your wild woods doesn’t decide to come any closer to your haven. 🙏.
Take care all and enjoy the day 🌺
Good morning all. My bit of North Leicestershire is also sunny but chilly.
We are going shopping in Nottingham this morning and catching up with TV and the papers this afternoon as DH is cooking his lovely smashed burgers this evening.
Have the best day possible everyone.
Good morning all, from a rainy Glasgow, where it is 7°C.
UTBB, I remember following your sad journey with your husband.1💐
I had a lovely day with DD yesterday, some chat, retail therapy and a Macdonalds, what more could I ask for.
However, I did have a divericulitus flare up, probably caused by all the stress, dealing with DH. I was doubled up with pain.
I got a worrying message from DS, who had taken DH to get his BP checked and bloods done. The nurse was concerned about how high his BP was and she needed to speak to a doctor.😔
She came back and said the doctor would phone him on Monday. I am so worried about him.
This BP problem is affecting his personality and he is very difficult to live with. 😪
DS messaged to say, that he had put my script in the pharmacy and also been to the tip. ♥️ DD took hem to pick it up on the way home. One less thing to worry about. ♥️
I got home, to find the GP had already phoned to discuss his health.
When I asked what she had said, he was so muddled. What made it worse was, he was talking to me as if I was a child.
I decided to phone the surgery and after confirming, I had Medical power of Attorney (we did it years ago, when I was very ill) the very kind receptionist, said she would speak to the doctor to clarify things.)
I got a call later to say, that he did not have an appointment on Monday, (he said he thought he had) and he was to make an appointment for the first week in May. They couldn't do it because the systems were still down.
R&L, having both Lasting Power of Attorney, and Medical Power of Attorney means that my children and DH have been able to deal with my affairs, when I have been too ill to do so myself..
It has also made it so much easier to deal with DH's clinicians in the last ten days.
Today, and tomorrow, I will spend most of my time at church. This is moving weekend,
I am not looking forward to it.
Before I go out, I have signs to laminate, to segregate, different areas of the Parish Hall. There will be no bulletin posted tonight.
I hope DH's twin is behaving himself, his twin is not.😉
Have a good day, whatever your plans.
P.S. I am loving all the photos.
Liberty I hope your Dh does decide to persevere with the hearing aids. I know so many people who don’t. My Dh gave up with his NHS ones but his new costly ones were perfect from the outset. See how he goes. 🤞
Good morning from a sunny Norfolk where we are in a pretty little cottage. There is a cobbler nearby so I have bought two pairs of shoes to be properly mended. A quiet day to get over the drive with visit to a farm shop
Liberty glad the hearing aids are a success they made all the difference to me, are you sure you wouldn’t like some!
R&L what a busy day a list is always a good idea
Best wishes
Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 8° and damp. utbb💐. madeleine, I hope you are feeling better.
I felt quite unwell yesterday and my feet were swollen and sore, so I rested most of the day and elevated my legs. I suspect it was the unexpected longer walking stint on Thursday that did it.
I slept fairly well, although I was up at one watching tv for a bit.
Today I still feel unwell with a lingering headache and my feet aren't much better. Another quiet day. Have a good day all.
Good Morning from Durham. It’s bright with patches of blue sky. Bodes well.
DD2 is coming with DGS2 this anfternoon after his swimming lesson, then we’ll see what he wants to do. I’ve plenty of books, games and toys here to keep him occupied, but we’ll go out if he wants to. I hate shopping at weekends, but need to nip out to get him some fruit.
DGS1 phoned me last night - I saw a lot of him when he was younger, but not so much now, which is a shame.
💐R&L - don’t over do things.
💐UTBB.
Best wishes to all. X
Good morning everyone from south Manchester where its 8°C ans sunny but showers forecast later and a high of only 13°C.
My Saturday pal (L’il Miss) is coming over to play soon but ‘only’ for 2 hours today grandma as I’m going to a swim birthday party at lunch’. Okay poppet we will have fun till then (I’ve bought a table tennis set they’ll be ping pong balls all around the room as I have hopeless eye/hand coordination 😳). I thought we could open up the butterfly section on the dining table and give it a go. No net but hey probably for the best anyway!
I had bereavement counselling yesterday, a lot to unpack in my first session and I cried pretty much throughout. I came to realise the best description of Himself was ‘fearless’ in so many ways. Second session next Friday afternoon. I’m not sure what I hope to get out of it really. I’m new to this concept but think it’s worth pursuing.
Yorkshire Lass is driving over today. She will swing by to call in on her grandpa who is not far off 94 now, see her sister for coffee and then come to me for lunch. We may well go out, a treat as I don’t see her so much as t’other daughter who lives up the road.
Good morning from Shropshire.Sunny at the moment but rain forecast later.
Yesterday’s visit to mum was mixed. When we arrived she was so happy to see us but after a few minutes it was pretty awful. We stayed half an hour but really should have left after five minutes.I don’t know if these visits do any of us any good💔I say as long as I keep getting a beautiful smile and such joy when I arrive we will keep going.I was sent a video a couple of hours later of her joining in singing therapy and full of smiles.
We went for a meal out on the way home then collected the children from school which brightened the day.We are both exhausted today so a quiet day hopefully.
I am sorry you feel unwell Grandmabatty and hope you feel better as the day goes on.Also that madeleine is ok.
Usedtobeblonde , like Mary I remember following your journey with your husband💐
Thinking of all our absent friends and those struggling and wishing everyone a good day🌷🦩
Good morning Mick and all from Sunnyside sandhills northwest coast.
Usual Friday yesterday, art in the morning and a shop. I was surprised to receive a big bill from my solicitor dating back to 2018 after my DH died and including recent work for shares which had reappeared. No breakdown for earlier work and hard to believe it wasn’t dealt with then. Will make some further enquiries…
The plans for the next couple of days have gone awry. My friend’s open mic has been cancelled until next week and a coach trip I booked has been also cancelled for lack of bookings. Plenty to get on with, but I need to dream up something for out of the house. It’s quiet now family have left and flying DD flies to Miami today, feeling tired with a lot on.
Thoughts to Marzipan RosesandLilac and all🌺
Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Du
I had sad news yesterday that my DBiL had died suddenly and unexpectedly.
He's been a wonderful partner for my DSiL for 15 years. I've been looking at the wedding photos and wish we'd spent more time together.
I was going to have a stall at the street fair today but I don't feel like it at all.
Sorry to sound so miserable.
I do hope you all have a pleasant day.
Condolences Grammaretto🙏🏻
No wonder you’re upset this morning Grammaretto such sadness especially with an unexpected death. A bolt out of the blue must be quite shocking. 💐
That said, dealing with high anxiety over cancer is tough too in a different way. I’ve come to realise there’s no ‘good way’ to go really.
So sorry to hear your sad news grammaretto sending condolences to you and your family 💐
A later good morning.from Northampton where it is bright and sunny 🌞. Just listening to Tony Blackburn Sounds of the Sixties on catch-up radio. Happy memories!
A very active morning yesterday at my three dance classes, then a dancing friend and I went for a coffee afterwards and had a good catch-up, as.it had.been nearly 4 weeks since we crossed paths; she had been away on holiday for a couple of weeks.
Made a lamb keema curry for dinner, which was delicious and I now have three more portions waiting to go in the freezer.
An early lunch today as I am going to a rugby match which starts at 1.30 so I need to be on a bus by 12.30. For once it is not my Saints team playing (they are away at Exeter), but a Royal Navy team playing the RAF. An ex Saints player is playing for the navy, so will be cheering him on!
Then I shall walk to the shops for a few things before getting the bus home.
Not read any posts yet but will catch up later.
Wishing all a pleasant day.
Morning all, weary weekend here as I have developed a urine infection and am feeling tired an miserable!
I think I’ve probably had it brewing for a while but I’ve just been drinking lots of water and felt fine but suddenly yesterday I didn’t feel fine. Got antibiotics and cancelled planned activities, one of which was taking 10 year old out to lunch. I did this a few weeks ago for his big sister and DD says he is a bit miffed. His ADHD personality makes him quite vulnerable although you have to know him to discover this, he presents quite differently.
Oh to have your talent grandMattie.
That was rotten Susan, you’re right, give your mum (and yourself) the moment’s joy of recognition and just leave when it starts to go wrong, that way you take the good memory home. It is so very hard.
Wishing everyone a pleasant weekend
Just read your sad news Grammaretto, sincere condolences to you and your family x
Grammaretto my condolences.
Susan that's hard. It's such a long way to go for 5 minutes of connection. My thoughts go to you both, ladies.
I'm listening to Swan Lake finale on the radio. It is sublime
Thank you Stilllearning.
Grammaretto, what a shock. My condolences to you and your family💐
Late to post this morning, it’s bright, sunny and mild here in S E Essex hip hip hooray.
Sorry you have had bad news Grammaretto
Baby steps FGT2
Marydoll remember to take care of yourself.
Gingster good you managed to meet up with your Friday pals 👍
Middle son and wife are currently winging their way to Rome, with two reluctant teens. The idea being to get away for the weekend and destress before exams…
So sorry to hear about your BiL Grammaretto sending my sincere condolences.
Grammaretto. 💐
My condolences
