William and Catherine’s Anniversary Photo

Not really sure I like it. A tangle of bare legs is not very dignified.
It’s the kind of family holiday snap that I’d only want to show to close friends and family.

Is it just me?

More likely saying ‘ aww Daaaaad, what if my mates see this photo’ 😁

No idea why my post was deleted 🤷‍♀️

Wonder what the late Queen Elizabeth 2nd would have thought of it!

Definitely just you ..... My daughter died due to breast cancer at 38 leaving a husband and two small children, what I'd give for such a photo .... Makes no difference they're royals, it's a happy family photo.

So very sorry for your loss 💐

Wonder what the late Queen Elizabeth 2nd would have thought of it!

I doubt she would have approved the lack of decorum.
Remember when she snapped at William to ‘stand up!’ on the balcony after Trooping the Colour because he was crouching down pointing something out to a very young George?

It’s a lovely photo but one for the family album.

It's a lovely informal family photo of a day at the beach

Whatever they put out some people won't like it - I remember when they went to church at Easter some people moaned about how stuffy and formal it was with the boys wearing suits.

It is very clear that they have a photographer join them on one of the days they were on Easter holidays in Cornwall and they spend a couple of hours taking photos for the kids' birthdays (note that Louis is wearing the same clothes as for his birthday photo playing beach cricket). And we will probably see some of the photos turn up for Charlottes birthday this coming weekend and perhaps for George's birthday in July - maybe William's in June.

They did exactly the same last year - although IIRC the photos were taken in Norfolk

Personally I liked the photos that Kate took of her kids but we know how much she was bullied for that when she was ill - so now we don't see her photos.

Well I loved the one of Prince Phillip and Princess Anne barbequing in the 1960s!

I think it’s Williams way of signifying the way he intends to take the monarch; much more Scandinavian. Which I approve of as long as we don’t lose too much pomp and ceremony, especially when it comes to old carriages and beautiful horses.

It's a lovely family photograph but all I could see was Catherine's white trousers on the grass !
Eeek. Good Luck removing the grass stains

Sleepyhead52 Thu 30-Apr-26 14:42:57

They're all 'decent' and they all look as if they could use a bit of sun on their limbs!

Calendargirl Thu 30-Apr-26 14:44:44

Good Luck removing the grass stains

I doubt that will be Catherine’s problem!

CassieJ Thu 30-Apr-26 15:33:05

I thought it was a lovely family photo.

I'm with Nexus. Can you imagine what it must be like, having to teach your children how to avoid doing something that might attract press photographers and mislead the public. How many times have they had to sit in church or elsewhere for long periods of time and behave like a grown up?

It must be great... that for once, they could relax and not have to put the 'public' face on'.

icanhandthemback Thu 30-Apr-26 15:34:55

Not my cup of tea. I'd at least want all the faces looking towards the camera.

So sorry to hear of your loss.

I think it's lovely too see informal family photos of them, so much nicer than the formal stiff portraits.

I thought it was a lovely family photo.

So do I. You can see the joy and happiness they get from being together and relaxing as a happy family after having been through an awful lot in recent years.
Why they have to come in for criticism I do not know.

henetha Thu 30-Apr-26 16:14:44

I'm with missdeke. It's great to see these informal family photos of them.
And I'm with Sarnia too....why so much criticism.

It’s a wonderful, fun, family photo showing normality, just as Diana bought up her sons. I think it’s quite clear to everyone that despite being “royal”, love, affection and fun are vital to rear healthy, happy and grounded children. Showing parental love and affection is normal, and we all know what happens when true feelings are forced to be stifled…… it does not lead to happiness and so many other royals are testament to this. William recognises that the royals have to change and he’s doing a wonderful job .

Nice to see them relaxing ,they look like a happy family.

Its a great photo. Good to see them relaxing as a family

NotTooOld Thu 30-Apr-26 17:57:49

It's a great photo. Let them enjoy their childhoods (parents and chiIdren). There's plenty of time for more formal stuff. Hope Catherine is doing well healthwise.
