Grandmabatty Tue 05-May-26 05:42:33

Good morning Mick and others from Polmont where it's currently 7° and is cloudy.
Yesterday started early with the boys leaping in beside me at half six. We had a lovely morning playing at shops and restaurants and they drew loads. Just as well I have lots of paper. In the afternoon, I tidied up and had a much needed nap.
Today is an early childcare day. Dd has to go to her big office so I'm up, having coffee before heading to her house. Then school drop off and later pick up. In between I have a washing to do. That the height of excitement for today!
Have a good day all.

Good morning from a grey but dry Bristol.
Who knows, but the outside painting might well start today. I’m not holding my breath..
DD and I went to the American museum next to Bath university to see a quilt exhibition. It was of quilts made by black women living in a very isolated island on the Alabama river. They were made from necessity with scraps and old clothes. When they were “discovered”, they sold the quilts and made the quilts from new fabric. Both the quilting and the patchworking was very simple.
As we had had a long drive ,new didn’t stay that long, but managed a walk though some of the beautiful gardens too.
On the way home, we picked up a parcel for DGD and some compost for me.
The parcel contained a vintage prom dress for DGD who tried it on immediately and looked stunning. She was delighted.
In the afternoon, I replaced half the compost in my 4 large pots, ready for planting my tomatoes and a runner bean, when I get one. My word, those daffodil bulbs were a struggle to remove! The rubbish was taken to the skip by the manager’s house, which is full of vegetation cleared from the “jungle” by it. The state of the garden there is disgraceful.
Today, I’m doing the laundry. As my neighbour doesn’t have her car, I shall walk to Tesco (a 30 minute walk uphill) to do my shopping. The afternoon will be free.
I’m glad you are enjoying your cruise, ash, that life is settling down for you,*fgt*. r&l, we used to live near a gliding place in Hampshire. I have always wanted to go in one.
May your day be wrinkle-free. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning from Malta where another sunny day is forecast with a high of 21°C.

I haven’t yet decided what to do today but ironing is first on the list! I have a few errands to run if I can summon up the motivation.

Thinking of our absent posters and those struggling with various challenges.🙏🏻

Have a good day all.☀️

latedecember1963 Tue 05-May-26 06:14:31

Good morning from Lancashire.
Hope the painting begins today, grandMattie.🤞

DH has gone to get his bus into work.
There's laundry to be tackled here too.
I have to double check each load as I put it in the machine as the little chap likes to rearrange the piles. 😁

A couple of friends are going to drop by this afternoon.

Wishing you all the best day possible. 🌻

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. I’m still in bed having been exhausted after yesterday’s adventures in Kew! We had a lovely day celebrating our granddaughter’s 10th birthday. She has managed a 3-day celebration. Saturday was spent clothes shopping in a massive mall in Shepherd’s Bush (she’s inherited my shopping gene), Sunday a swimming party with friends and yesterday a day with family. Kew was looking so beautiful. The rhododendron walk was amazing. My granddaughter is so lucky that she can visit there after school every day.

I did all the driving yesterday so OH will drive us to meet friends for lunch today.

Have a good day everyone, especially those who haven’t posted for a while.

Melanie61 Tue 05-May-26 06:26:08

Good morning from Sheffield
I am very tired after a busy weekend. Not from going out but from home related tasks. We have done lots of little diy jobs.

I am meeting my sister today so that will be nice . Shopping at our local mall. I shall get my steps in then. I can’t be bothered to walk this morning.

Take care everyone flowers

Good morning from Shropshire.A bright start to the day.

Like Melanie I am tired after a few busy days with garage sorting while DH has been working hard in the garden. The greenhouse is gleaming inside and out and the vegetable plot is ready to go.

Today I will make sure everything is ship shape and get things ready for a busy day tomorrow.

I hope we hear from Marydoll today.

Thinking of all our absent friends and all struggling and wishing everyone the best day possible🌷🦩

llfll that photo of the fern house has so many memories of my tropical island childhood and upbringing! Thank you.

Good morning the sunshine has returned this morning, I’m hoping that it stays that way here on the hillside in south Glos.
I have housework and washing to do today, I’m slacking on the housework so need to catch up.
We have lots of baby sparrows in our front garden, they lurk amongst the plants with their parents collecting food from the feeder by the front door. I do love watching them.
The blue tits are collecting sawfly larvae from my roses for their young, it’s a frantic time for them all.
I finished my slow stitch piece yesterday, I will start another today, or begin one of the many kits I have been given or bought.
I hope everything goes well for you all today x

“Oh what a beautiful morning, oh what a beautiful day …” 🎵 🎶 Good morning everyone from south Manchester where we have a cracking start to Tuesday. Alexa tells me it’s tells me tree and grass pollen is high. I always feel sorry for students with hay fever sitting exams during May. Must be wearisome.

I’m going over on the bus to see my stepfather this afternoon. His very kind neighbours with a car now do the bulk of his shopping they call in a couple of times a week for his list. Nice for him as it’s a bit of company too for him now he can’t get out and about. There are some good souls in life.

👋 to my pen pal who said she’d be back posting today after her mini social media detox for the BH weekend. 😁

Gagagran Tue 05-May-26 07:03:38

Good Morning all from the central south coast where we are promised a dull, dry day. We had one shower yesterday but not enough for my new plantings so shall have to resort to the hosepipe today.

DH got all the daffodil foliage removed yesterday and we now have four big bags of garden waste ready to go to the tip. He tried to book a slot yesterday but the system was down so he will try again today. We also have a large amount of cardboard to go too.

Nothing much planned for today but no doubt things will crop up as they always do.

Thinking of our missing GNs and all those amongst us with troubles and struggles of any sort. May the day bring some ease and comfort. sunshine

Good morning from a drizzly, refreshing Cornwall where the council have started putting up our summer bunting throughout the town centre. It hasn't reached my flat yet but will be here soon.

I'm being treated to breakfast by a friend who I did a favour for and she insists on kindly paying me back. We're going to the bijou café next door to my flat, which sells the best coffee in town, so that's a ten second walk for me. After that I'll get a bus to my daughter-in-law's for more painting; it's my grandson's deep purple bedroom today. 😄

luluaugust Tue 05-May-26 07:17:53

Good morning from a grey W Kent. Off to U3A art group this morning, apparently only two people turned up last time. Unexpected medical appointments keep the numbers down. This afternoon I start clearing out books I can no longer read, I find I use my kindle or I pad much more now
Best wishes to all

Gelisajams Tue 05-May-26 07:19:05

Good morning all from a cool cloudy Morecambe Bay where it is forecast to stay dry at least for much of today. A good long walk through the woods will start the day when DH and Crazy dog wake up. The woods are so beautiful at this time of the year with the wildflowers at their peak.
Next week we are going away for a few days while the decorator comes in to repaint the lounge kitchen and stairs. Because of the layout of the house it would be difficult to manage Crazy dog and keep him from getting white paint on his black coat. ( or black hairs in the white paint). I will start moving as much stuff as possible to the guest room upstairs. In the process I’ll try to have a good clear out of accumulated rubbish. How many back copies of the National Trust handbook does a family need?
Thinking of all missing posters, the worried and the unwell. Take care.thanks

Usedtobeblonde Tue 05-May-26 07:19:18

Good morning all from a bright Stockport but it must be chilly as the CH has come on.
I am off to Grasmere this morning just for a one night stay but should manage two almost full days as it doesn’t take us long to get there from here.
Weather is not brilliant there but I shall make the most if it. My H and I used to go several times a year but I haven’t been since he died.
Have the best day you can everyone.

Redcar Tue 05-May-26 07:21:55

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. Blue sky with some high cloud this morning. We didn’t have any rain yesterday, I don’t know if we’ll have any showers today.
At least it stayed dry yesterday for the May Fair in our local park. I wandered over early afternoon and there seemed to be quite a lot of people there.
I need to go to the post office and village shops this morning and will see my dementia friend this afternoon.

grandmattie I hope the painting starts today and that the painters don’t make too much mess.

Thinking of those who are struggling at the moment and hoping that life gets a little easier for you soon.

Have the best day possible everyone.

cornergran Tue 05-May-26 07:32:08

Morning Mick, morning All from a bright corner of Somerset. A decent if chilly day forecast.

Usual routine Tuesday of dust moving and a grocery delivery. Also a hair trim for me, thankfully my hairdresser knows my discomfort is about the process not her.

The rat issue remains and in the nature of these beasts is growing. It seems the preferred pest controller is reluctant to even assess due to our proximity to the river. Hmm. There will be a number of calls to the development area manager today. I plan to head the pack with an 8.30 request for a call back. Our back gardens are impossible to enjoy now.

Best wishes to all, have the best day you can.

kittylester Tue 05-May-26 07:35:22

Good morning all from a bright but cloudy North Leicestershire.

Today I have ironing to do and the new garden furniture is being delivered. DH is doing a volunteer drive.

Yesterday we had to boost the central heating in the afternoon. I hope today is warmer.

Have the best day possible everyone.

ginny Tue 05-May-26 07:36:26

Good morning all.
Had a good lunch with DDs1&2 yesterday . Later DD3 turned up with DGSs 2&3. They were back from their weekend away and wanted to ride their bicycles to see us.
We are visiting my Sister in Law today, about an hours journey each way.
Wishing everyone a good day with a smile along the way.

GrannyIvy Tue 05-May-26 07:38:00

Good morning from Cambridgeshire where the heating has clicked on this morning but it looks bright outside.

It wasn’t planned yesterday but on the spur of the moment we decided to start clearing out the loft goodness it was hard going and a few interesting finds. However found things I thought I still had have vanished. Where is my large suitcase and no sign of mine and DD2’s wedding dresses that I thought were stored up there. So many old children’s books and puzzles! So many old photos that need sorting through.

Today I have the dreaded dentist I must summon up courage to ask if I can change to another partner in the practice my dentist is very odd and puts me on edge. I am sure I have a problem lurking so will wait for the verdict!!

Hoping all the missing posters are back with us soon. Hopefully Madeleine is enjoying St Kilda and will be back to share how it all went.

Hope today goes well for everyone 🌷

Grandmabatty Tue 05-May-26 07:43:02

GrannyIvy Thank you for the reminder that madeleine was going to visit St Kilda. That puts my mind at ease somewhat.

Marydoll Tue 05-May-26 07:43:28

Good morning all, it's 7°C.

Life is such a struggle just now, however, not posting only causes concern, so I thought I should pop in.

It was DD's birthday yesterday. She has been very elusive recently and when I said I would pop up with her gifts, she asked me not to.
Usually I can't get rid of her. I spent the day worrying.
SIL hasn't been well, two of his siblings have been diagnosed with a rare heart condition, it is genetic, there us a fair chance SIL has it. He is waiting to be tested.
Then in late afternoon, she appeared. I was so delighted to see her.♥️

My own health seems to be deteriorating again, which makes life difficult.
My first hurdle this morning is to fight for an appointment for DH. His BP is still worryingly high and I continue to walk on eggshells.
It has been nigh on impossible to get an appointment, due to the surgery IT systems having being unavailable for a fortnight.

We are also off on the bus, for our eye tests. DH needs his eyes checked for obvious reasons, Due to my health conditions, I need an annual check and I always require a new prescription. It is going to be an expensive day, for I have decided to treat myself to glasses which match my new look, 😉
I deserve a treat. I am heading either for for Sainthood or martyrdom! # Perfect wife.😇
One parishioner told me, that I loked very modern, with my new haircut, another called me dear girl and another said I looked like a wee lassie.
Were they compliments? What do you think, dear readers.🤔

I have been thinking of all my GN friends, who struggle on a daily basis, for whatever reason. ♥️

Have the best day you can, folks.

Gingster Tue 05-May-26 07:46:45

Good morning all.
Yesterday seemed a long day. I do get cabin fever if im not out and about.

Today Dd will pop In For coffee after school drop off and then DIL will come to help send off paperwork/e mails to the solicitor for cottage sale. She’s good at that!

This afternoon I’ll walk up to town and be picked up by my friends for Bridge. They always offer to pick me up from home but the traffic through our town is always bad and it’s not fair to ask them to tackle it both ways.

I hope you all have a good day and hope Madeleine and Marydoll are ok.🙏

Jaxjacky Tue 05-May-26 07:49:03

Morning, high cloud in S Hants, we had a period of torrential rain yesterday afternoon for a good hour and a half, then gentle rain, it was much needed.
I’ve been bitten again, that’s three times this year already, they never touch MrJ, very itchy.
Lovely pictures llfl and Gelis we too went away last time we had similar decorating done.
Chicken curry to make and a walk later, MrJ has bowls this afternoon.
Have accent day if possible.
