Good morning Mick and everyone from sunny Carlisle.
First, let me say I do NOT appreciate having my post interrupted several times by a full screen advert for Iceland which it is difficult to get rid of...and, no, I'm not accidentally clicking on it.
Rant over...oh it's just happened again! and again, this may be a short offering.
Yesterday I got through some housework and the rest of the ironing but felt rather wobbly and pale, fighting off some attempted infection I guess. Gardening was off so I finished my book, the last of Sansom's Shardlake series. Sad to find that he died before finishing the next one which probably won't be published.
Today I hoped to get into town to post a parcel but now have to await a call from the surgery. Hope it's soon, I like to drive in when the traffic is relatively quiet.
Meanwhile, I'll gird up my loins and clean inside windows, the sun shows the smears on them horribly. Then, if I feel up to it, some gentle gardening after lunch, I've various bedding plants to put in.
Have a good day everyone!

Good morning from a bright, sunny Suffolk after a chilly and drizzly day yesterday.
My meet up for coffee with a dog walking friend yesterday was great. The cost for 2 coffees and cake was £5.50! No wonder the Community pub was very busy. We plan to have lunch there next time as the new chef, the only paid worker comes highly recommended.
I’m grateful of a quiet day at home today after a busy few days so I must attend to the ironing pile and some now essentia admin.
Hope today is a good one for all.
Good morning from Shropshire where it’s a dull start.
Like Grandmabatty I had a bad nights sleep but will also still see my friend this morning in the hope it takes my mind off how rubbish I feel🤞🏻
Yesterday was very busy.DD forgets I am not as young and quick as I was.14000 steps which is a record for me!DGD was a joy as usual. She won one of the categories in a county schools competition and her design will be made into a road sign. She said when the headteacher announced there was a winner from their school everyone cheered and when they said the winner was from her class she was so excited thinking it was her friend. She is so excited and will go to a reception with DD to meet the Mayor and Chamber next week.
Today my lovely friend is coming round this morning then reading/napping this afternoon.
Am so hoping for better news from Marydoll.
Thinking of our absent friends and all with struggles and wishing everyone the best day possible🌷🦩
Good morning from Glasgow, where it is 6°C.
I have had the most awful night. I suspect my painkilling patch needs changed and I was experiencing withdrawal symptoms.
I have become so forgetful, with everything that is going on.
Much to my relief, DH had a telephone consultation with one of the senior GPS yesterday.
As expected, DH went rogue and basically talked nonsense. When the doctor asked what his BP readings were, DH asked me.
I had made a folder for him with BP readings etc, advised him to keep it near the phone (landline, so that I could eavesdrop).
He couldn't find it 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 I had also given him a BP record sheet, the type my surgery use.
It was in table format, but he couldn't understand why anyone in this day and age, would use table format. He redid it as an excel spreadsheet! 😔
I tried to explain, that this is the format, the surgery use,
I was wasting my time, he knew better.
The conversation continued in this vein, until I had to intervene and muttering a very bad word, under my breath,.
My conversation with the GP was productive, increased meds and a face to face appointment next week. The GP listened to my take on the situation, DH' behaviour, brain fog etc. and agreed it was indeed concerning
Needing some groceries, I planned to go to Sainsbury's. When I went out, I spotted DH's golfing partner and DIL's father gossiping chatting.
The outlaw is in competition with DH to see who has the highest BP. DH couldn't care less.
The last time, FIL spoke to DH, he was proud, that he had a systolic of 199 in hospital and was miffed when DH told him, that his was 241 in hospital. He asked again yesterday, I said it was 235/98. Silence.😂
It was so amusing to observe these two old sweetie wives, discussing their medical problems and trying to outdo each other.
FIL was boasting about his prescriptions, when I wickedly, said I had nineteen on repeat, his face was a picture.
He also told me the surgery had been closed for two weeks (totally untrue) and yet another senior partner had left on the 8th April,
In fact that partner, was the one, who phoned DH yesterday.
He is dangerous, with his misinformation.
When I said, that it was Dr X had phoned, he told me I must have been mistaken.🤣
Today, I hope to catch up on all the neglected chores, but I am so weary and health is poor.
My replacement iron is going to be delivered, therefore I will be busy!
Also, my cull will continue. I have put on weight and have a good excuse to get rid of stuff.
I wish you all a pleasant day. Now off to read your posts.
A very big well done to your DGD Susan what a little star she is! 👏
Good morning all . Yesterday was so cold and drizzly. same forecast for today.
Our 14yr old DGD had an urgent op on the miniscus tear yesterday morning. It all went well and was home by evening. She is in a leg brace for 6 weeks and won’t be able to do any activities for at least 6 months. She’s a dancer and gymnast.
I hope to try to get to see her in a week or so.
I had terrible toothache all day yesterday but still went out for lunch with my pal as I’d cancelled last time when Dh was in hospital. I don’t think I was much company and cut it short.
It’s eased up a bit now but I didn’t have much sleep. DIL is taking me shopping and a lady is coming to clear Dh ‘s ears later. I hope it goes well. 🤞.
I’ll make an appointment with the dentist when I get a minute 😢.
Sar I hope your DH’s op was successful.
Monk I’m glad your dh has his licence back at long last. I wonder if I get mine 🤔.
Take care all 🌺
Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Cold but bright. I'm glad because today's the day I'm co leading the U3A walk.
After 4 reccies of different routes we are doing a local one, off road with a picnic lunch stop by our local stately pile.
A bit tame but it avoids, driving, roads, cyclists, bulls in a field, climbing over gates and wading across streams all of which spoiled the other routes.
I slept badly but hope I can nap when I get back
Yesterday my nap was interrupted by a nice visitor who left with a couple of my books.
We had tea in the greenhouse where I have removed the picturesque wicker chairs and replaced them with sturdier plastic ones.
I hope Marydoll's DH medical emergency ended well and her own situation improves.
Have a nice day everyone.
Good morning from the Essex coast. We are due rain later although it is dry at the moment.
DH had his 3rd Corneal transplant yesterday, he was ready to come home at 6. He had tea and toast and went straight to bed.
I've made him TIB and hopefully he will feel better later.
I had a very stressful afternoon worrying. He won't know for a few days if this one has worked and he can see again.
I'll now drink my tea and go back and read about you all.
Best wishes xx
Thank you brook.x
Good Morning from the central south coast. Sorry I'm late. I have been updating family about my big brother on the Isle of Man.
The revascularisation of his legs hasn't worked as the surgeon hoped and a big meeting was held yesterday about what options he has left.
The surgeon wants to amputate further up his leg but my brother knows that if that happened he will be unable to have any sort of life given that his upper body strength has diminished so much.
In the end they have agreed one more surgery where half his foot will be amputated tomorrow. Should that fail, he has decided on no more surgery and just palliative care in a hospice or nursing facility. He is fully compos mentis and philosophical that his life may well becoming to an end. I am very sad that it has come to this.
I am joining the strugglers this morning.
Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s dry but looks chilly out. Alexa tells me it’s says showers later.
Whilst waiting for the kettle to boil to make my TiB I was observing the comings and goings of commuters across the road at the railway station. I counted 34 people on platform 1 Waiting for the train into Manchester Oxford Road And when it pulled in 19 people alighted.
I could see the ridge of the Pennines quite sharply against the pale apricot sky behind it looked quite beautiful.
After lunch I am calling for a taxi and picking up my stepfather en route to take him to a dermatology outpatient appointment at a hospital.
Good (late for me) morning from a very sunny Cornwall where yesterday I painted walls and today I'll be painting walls. 🥳 My daughter-in-law is so grateful that she bought me a rather generous Wetherspoons' voucher, enough for squillions of coffees. She has no parents and she sees me as a sort of surrogate mother/good friend I think. Anyway, my grandson's deep purple bedroom is looking stunning. Yesterday we had a very large gull constantly banging on the bedroom window as we painted. The previous tenant obviously fed him. They are beautiful birds and I love their funny feet and knobbly knees. I've posted this photo before but I love the arrogant stance, just like yesterday's gull. 'Don't mess with me, I rule the world,' sort of thing. 😂
I have a regular visitor; a queen wasp who tries to settle in my flat every year around this time. She flies in from my patio and has just been gently encouraged out via the front window.
Well, I'm off to be a decorator now...
Good morning everyone from a brightish Northampton; a dry day is forecast so will probably try to clear some more weeds.
Well, apparently the Evri courier seems not to be getting the message about picking up my package, as no-one came for it again yesterday. Not going to bother complaining again; I will ask DS if he can take it to a drop-off point for me.
At least I was able to cut the front grass and remove weeds from the front garden; that way I could see anyone coming to the house.
A Sainsbury's delivery late morning, and gardening this afternoon.
Wishing all a pleasant Thursday.
Good morning from sunny Berkshire. I visited my BIL yesterday with DD. He has been in a nursing home for one week and is looking frail. Nice nursing home and then we visited my SIL who has been wonderful looking after him so far. She deserves a good rest and goes abroad for a holiday with a friend soon.
We then went into London and had a look round Battersea Power station, new to me, and a meal at an Italian restaurant.
I leave for the north this morning, so am about to throw my things in my small suitcase.
Sorry to hear about your brother Gagagran and thoughts to all.
.
Susan my commiserations over your lack of sleep. A hearty well done to your dgd!
Marydoll mansplaining at its worst! That can't have helped your blood pressure
Home again with a neat hairdo. I'm having a cuppa and a slice of toast before tackling the kitchen
Good morning from South Lanarkshire where my phone informs me it ‘feels like’ 1 degree. I don’t know where the May hymn with the line about the ‘bowers are radiant with flowers’ was written but it wasn’t here!
An at home day today other than voting so I intend to carry on with clearing and cleaning kitchen cupboards. So far I’ve thrown out not one but two out of date unused containers of garlic salt. An unwelcome reminder of memory/ attention losses.
FGT you are keeping your brain sharp, good for you.
Sar53, I do hope your husbands operation has been successful this time.
Gagagran thoughts for your ‘big brother’ and you.
Grandmabatty 💐
Wishing everyone a good day.
Gagagran so sorry to read the news about your brother
Thank you Grandmabatty.x
Gagagran I am so sorry to hear the news about your brother 💐
Sat I really hope your husband’s operation has worked 🙏🏻
FGT if my friend wasn’t coming round I would still be in bed.Snap on the breakfast!
How sad Gagagran that’s very difficult for you all.
Fgt if I go early to the hairdressers, I can park outside his place. I don't sleep well anyway, so I don't mind.
Good Morning from sunny Spain. Thank you for your kind wishes for this holiday. DD2 says I’m a jet-setter now! At 75, now on my own and in reasonable health, I feel very lucky and want to make the best of what years I have left.
Again, my thoughts are with those GNs coping with their own problems as well as those of their loved ones. I know, it’s not easy.
Best wishes to all. X
Ginster 🤞 your licence is returned to you.
Gagagran sorry to hear the news of your brother 💐.
Good morning everyone from cloudy Lancashire.
MrB and I have been to vote, then walked home along the woodland path, across the footbridge and along the dockside. It’s rather damp and chilly out.
As always, thinking of those with troubles in their lives.
Wishing you a good day whatever you’re doing.
Good morning, Michael12 and all!
Today, again, the internet is like me - painfully slow, sticky and unresponsive! -
So I'm not sure if this post is going through properly or not.
The internet is weird at the best of times anyway, but it's also something to do with the workmen outside our shop doing things with lines and tubes and hand-held boxes that make strange beeping noises, whatever!
I'm on a half-hour break with a mug of PG Tips and a Double Decker bar!
I have tomorrow off work, so tonight I'll be guzzling glasses of Delaney's Country Cream, scoffing fish and chips while binge watching YouTube WWE matches and MrBallen!
Misbehave as much as you all can!
