Decluttering

I can't even get a foot inside Brian now.
Adrian was looking pretty good, then my boy seems have taken out half of his car and put it in there.
It smells, whatver it is.

Slow down here, hibernation transition is setting in but it does not bother me, soon I will soon have a really good set-to in my wardrobe and bedroom drawers

I have a trug of plants for the tip but it isn`t worth the petrol just for them. They will have to wait

Meantime I do have some glorious shiny yarn on cones for weaving to pass on, I must work out how to get to a community craft cafe in a nearby town. The CSs are rammed full here just now

I have lots of knitting needles and am not a knitter. I can keep a few pairs for DDs but do charity shops take them as they are pointed? They were myDMs.

Our Oxfam keeps knitting needles behind the counter so you have to ask for them 🤣

Another wheelie bin is filling up with papers. I hope books don't end up being recycled too.

I have answered my own question. I can send my knitting needles to Knit for Peace who seem to have an office near Hampstead which my younger DD can get to easily. So I will sort them and keep just a couple of pairs.
Isnt Google wonderful for getting an answer quickly when you ask the question.

I am creeping through decluttering again because I am visiting a DD in Wales tomorrow and will be taking two new hand made wool jumpers plus an unused (hangs head) merino wool throw by Bronte Moon. Yes I do remember buying this throw when I moved house but ever since it has been in a moth-proof vac bag

I took other things out but put them back again many a time I can only remove a bit, more is too much for my own sanity

No decluttering done here, I'm afraid.
My boy has informed me that he will need to take over 'the cupboard with no name' as his car is small, and he has umpteen plumbing items to store.

He has a tiny box room, so I have to try and be reasonable about it.

Anyway, regardless of any of that, I have a leaking scar, and any lifting, lugging, stretching, etc just exacerbates it.

Feeling rather sorry for myself.

I have done the walk in cupboard under the stairs today. I thought it would take an hour. 4 hours later I have got rid of alot of boxes put some DIY stuff in the shed and gave it a quick clean and hoover.
I have cleared some space but most importantly I know where everything is. Anything not needed, old or broken, is gone.

I bet it feels great!

I tackled trunks in the attic today. I'd been storing WW2 blankets in cream and grey, as you do.

The moths had taken hold so I spent an hour bagging up blankets, and cushions and taking them to the recycling centre aka the tip.

Can you remember why you kept them, just out of curiosity?
That's a huge load out of your way, now.
I know you've still plenty to deal with, but that much every day isn't to be sniffed at.

MissAdventure My dad was killed in an air crash when I was 5. The blankets had been his. One of them had his name embroidered on the corner. I have cut the corner out and will put it in the freezer.

I can understand how these things have been held onto, hearing that.
They really are a little piece of treasure (as opposed to the piles of old crap I've built up)

It is 3pm and my eyes are getting dozy, I cant be doing with a nap to spoil my sleep, so sorting it is and sorting leads to de-cluttering even if it is in the future

I can get engrossed in sorting hobby stash and I have never made a list of yarns and fluffs (for spinning) all made from yummy natural stuff and I am not going to be giving any away, until made up into garments of course

So, I am hoping that can keep me occupied, I want to be properly awake, this half-sleepy feeling and watching a film (Malachi`s cove} is doing me no good at all.

I am going to start with a list, in a knitting-craft notebook from eons ago. Wish me luck, I have been avoiding this for a very long time

Lol, exercise with clearing, couldn`t be better

Ive blimmin had enough of yarn sorting, hammer and tongs for me before I became disheartened, Fluff also called tops, arghh good job I did this, I was going to go to the mill open day in 2027, I dare not go now. I have enough fluff to spin for the whole of my lifetime, I kid you not.

Many beautiful combinations from the days when world of wool was the old enterprise in the year dot eg cashmere/silk/merino. I think I paid around £40 for a kilo then, it would cost multiples more now, better than money I suppose. Also loads of pure wool fluff from the mill including alpaca combinations. It was exhilarating and depressing at the same time and no I will not be de-stashing any of it

I have enough ready yarn for more than 12 garments, no problem with that as long as I can keep knitting, plus I have loads of Rowan moordale, if only I had not been sucked into the JL sale about 15 years ago. Nice colours too and everything is protected from moths, who would have a field day

So I, at least, know what is where now and have labelled shelves. I have got rid of another huge lakeland vac bag and have made about 1cubic foot of space. In process I turned two other rooms into tips but at least my bed is now cleared for tonight

I like spinning and am not ready to give that up, I have a small herd of wheels and it all started with a buy from st Margarets hospice shop in Yeovil or Taunton. I still have that wheel, a vintage Rappard wee peggy and I learnt to spin on her

I'm waiting for the removals people to come to give me a quote but I am beginning to wonder if I imagined the appointment.
I need a minder.😟

Meanwhile I am trying to part with books as I can only fit a selection at my new house.
There are so many interesting looking ones which I'll probably never read again if I ever read them before.

Lots of gardening books and mushroom, tree and bird identification books. No point in keeping really.

Somebody might love it, amd get it out at Christmas.
It's worth trying to see if anyone might buy it (?) or even just take it, if they got some joy from it.

I’ve got to clear my garage so I can have the asbestos removed. Haven’t got the faintest idea where to put everything as it will be a long time before it can be put back. There’s furniture and allsorts in there.

What a pain MayBee . I suppose you could deal with anything you don't need or take a storage box - all the rage around here- I think they cost about £150 per month.

I've waited for hours but the removal company haven't arrived to give me a quote.
I won't be using them!!

I shall try to find some recommendations before I book.
It's neverending.

A df (a gransnetter) came for a visit this morning. After coffee at the café we walked up to my new house and she approved. ❤️
