Good morning all and it’s actually raining here in Essex. ☔️.
We need it badly.

Yesterday I shopped with my trusty trolley. Still getting used to this non driving and haven’t heard back about my last eye test.

Today I’m getting picked up for Bridge. Everyone so keen to help me out , such lovely kind friends I’m lucky to have. ♥️.

We still have DGD staying. She’s making pies at school today so must find a Tupperware box for her to take. She’s such a delight, always with a smile, so polite and willing. My lil ‘lion heart’. 💞.

My ‘old’ friend phoned me last evening. I nearly didn’t answer as I was tired and I knew it would be a long one. We chatted for 45 minutes until I had to cut short as dg wanted to go to bed.
We’ll make arrangements to meet up in a couple of weeks.

We met at work in London. I was 18 and she was a shy 16. I took her under my wing and she’s been there ever since 💕. Nearly 60 years.

Happy birthday Ash. Suddenly Olddudders will realise it’s your special day 😉. 🎁🎈🥳.

Take care all and have a good day 🌺

Good morning from a wet W Kent. Very little happening here so I expect I shall be sorting more books to go, still half empty shelves beginning to appear.
Happy birthday Ashcombe
Hope the hairdresser is gentle Bella
Best wishes

Early morning for me back on steroids after chest playing up and can’t sleep. Usual side effect. Went back to work doing supply yesterday and it was only a couple of hours but loved it. Looking forward and counting down to our cruise eleven days and counting.hubby will love it and I can see he’s getting excited even now. More holidays planned but within reason. I love the early morning read ups of your days how on earth do you all have the energy. I’m amazed! You do me good. Have a good day all.

grandMattie Tue 19-May-26 07:57:18

FGT, I’m so glad things are good; it’s hard but the first step is always the hardest. You done that, so enjoy your LWW. ❤️

Good morning from a grey Suffolk with evidence of a light rain overnight. I’m just enjoying my first cup of tea but haven’t read your posts. I hope all is well with all of you.

I have a pedicure first and then I’m meeting a friend for coffee after her Pilates class which we do every few weeks. She travels to one of our nearest small towns for her class which is only a few miles from us so convenient for both of us.

This evening DH and I are going to our other nearest small town to see ‘ The Choral’ in the small theatre there. I’m looking forward to seeing the Yorkshire countryside in the film.

The theatre is a great local asset. As well as regular films, they h arrange lectures, usually on art or history( we heard David Starkey talk there years ago),have art exhibitions, theatre productions and a well used bar and cafe. Prices are very reasonable and fund raising events are well supported. Long may it continue.

Good morning from a brightening northwest coast. I’m feeling better after a day at home, just house stuff, painted a greeting card and looked at new music. I phoned my BIL in the south, newly ensconced in a nursing home, but he was just coming round from a nap. My SIL has gone abroad with a friend for a break.
DS phoned me, hadn’t spoken in a while.
It still feels cold!

This afternoon to the usual music club. I haven’t decided what to sing, so need a vocal warm up.
I pick up my new prescription contact lenses later and that’s it.
Birthday greetings Ashcombe and thoughts to FGT🌺

harrigran Tue 19-May-26 08:15:42

Good morning from a grey and damp NE.
Yesterday's appointment with practice nurse went okay, she arranged an appointment with a GP for Thursday afternoon. I like that she can arrange it, I have always had problems trying to get one over the phone.
BIL planted my geraniums in my patio pots, I only have lavender and geraniums but love the bright colours.
Hairdresser is coming this morning and my sister is visiting this afternoon, she is coming to the end of her six week stay in the UK.
Happy Birthday Ashcombe, have a great day.

ginny Tue 19-May-26 08:17:50

Good morning. Rain overnight but it is easing now
Happy birthday Ashcombe.
I have a list of various jobs that need tackling, so will work through them today.
I contacted PALs at the hospital re my eye results or lack of them after nearly 12 weeks. They just keep telling me there is a back log. I received an automated email in return saying , guess what ? ‘We have a backlog of enquiries! Just hope whatever is wrong is not getting worse.
Wishing a good day for all and thoughts with those dealing with troubles and worries.

Good morning everyone from the Essex coast where it is pouring with rain.
I arrived home yesterday afternoon after a long, tiring rail journey.
DH seems very low, I think his eye is very uncomfortable.
This morning I need to go food shopping, the fridge is almost bare and then i have loads of admin to do.
Happy Birthday Ash, enjoy your special day flowers.
Best wishes to everyone xx

Morning from my bit of South Lanarkshire. Happy Birthday Ashcombe, hope your day is a nice one.

I’m glad you have a solution for your eye pain Cornergran and I hope it improves soon. Any threat to your eyesight is scary. I don’t think I have anything holding my eye open for the injections although I am so busy breathing deeply that I may not have noticed! I’ll pay attention next time!

Podiatrist this morning then more sorting out the clutter which has resulted from half finished clearing out several drawers yesterday.

Weather continues to be horrible here so I really hope the sunshine helps a bit FGT. Good that you have established friends near you, thinking about you.

Have the best day possible everyone and enjoy your new car and lunch out Roses

glammagran Tue 19-May-26 08:20:53

Good morning from Crete. It wasn't windy yesterday but forecast to be later on today. We walked up to and along to the road to find busstops. The friendly guy in the mini mart said they were every 20 mjnutes and the fare €2.50. As opposed to €27 in a taxi. The hotel didn't tell us that!

Your very vivid description of the wedding in China was wonderful to read WhiteSwan I hope the poor groom is ok. I've never been to mainland China but have visited Hong Kong many times when my DS and his family lived there.

Hope you are settled into your happy place FGTs

Have a good day everyone,

latedecember1963 Tue 19-May-26 08:21:41

Ouch, Cornergran! Hope your eye responds well to the new drops. 🤞

EkwaNimitee Tue 19-May-26 08:22:44

Good morning Mick and everyone from grey, damp Carlisle.

Yesterday, the washing machine was very busy as I had my visitors' bedding to wash also. Nothing could be hung outside though due to the showers which got really heavy after lunch. No gardening either of course.
I employed myself in de-cluttering, taking out all my t-shirts, I made a rough count of around 50! Now 2 large stuffed drawers are only one. I am now in the process of rearranging my other upstairs storage. A large blanket type chest at the foot of my bed has gone elsewhere, I have long thought it a potential item for falling over in a night trip to the ensuite. I have re-organised a wardrobe and my sweaters...but none have gone...yet. Now I have to have a tidy up and re-make the beds in the spare bedroom...stuff everywhere.
But next thing is a trip into town to collect a prescription and stock up on some fresh veg. The afternoon would hopefully be in the garden but I'm not holding my breath, it will probably be reading my latest book.

A very Happy Birthday to you Ashcombe, may the sun shine for you!

And wishing you all a pleasant day.

NannyJan53 Tue 19-May-26 08:27:58

Good morning from a damp and rainy Black Country.

Off to the cinema at 12 with my friend to see The Housemaid. £2 with cuppa and biscuit.

Beforehand need to make a Lasagne for tomorrow, as MrJ's DD is coming over after work then they are going to a local to see the Villa match.

Happy Birthday Ashcombe flowers

Enjoy your break in the sun FGT tinged with sadness, but hopefully many happy memories.

DGD2's first A level exam today. So it's going to be a fraught few weeks!

Wishing you all the best day possible.

Good morning all from a wet Glasgow, where it is 10°C.

Happy birthday Ash, perhaps OD has a surprise for you.

Gaga, I hope your brother and nephew continue to make progress.

I felt very unwell yesterday, with a painful iron band tightening around my brain and couldn't figure out why. My mood was awful.
I felt worse as the day went on. I put it down to stress about DH, whose BP is dangerously high again.
After hours of struggling to sleep, with a racing brain and strange feelings in my body, it dawned on me, that I was experiencing withdrawal symptoms from my opiod patch. It must have fallen off again and I hadn't noticed.
Because it is a CD, I cannot get replacement ones, without a whole palaver with the surgery.

I was wandering the house at 2am, checking my torso for the missing patch. There must be a Bermuda triangle somewhere with all my missing opiod patches.
My very expensive, previous ones are no longer allowed on the NHS, these cheaper generic ones are much less effective, 😔
C'estt la vie.

Instead of wallowing which I did yesterday, I may visit M&S food hall and check out a summer bag, I have been lusting after in TKMaxx.
I have birthday money, which is burning a hole in my pocket. 😉

Thank you all for the beautiful photos.
FGT, enjoy your meet up and best wishes to all, who have s burden to bear.

Enjoy your day folks, what ever your plans.

Marydoll Tue 19-May-26 08:31:57

Corner, I hope your eye improves.💐

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where it's raining, been raining or about to rain.

I have been up pottering about, feeling sure I should be somewhere. I have mislaid my diary and the online one is only as good as its owner.

Our walk yesterday was very good. It took in a couple of castles on the Forth used as sets for TV's Outlander plus Abercorn Church which has been there since the 4th century despite Cromwells raids.

My new Home Report arrived and I had a chat to the estate agent.

I've booked to stay with my friend in the north east next week and then she'll travel back with me for a few days here. We enjoy our free bus travel

I also had a chat with DS in NZ and told him my friends are soon to land on them for a few nights. I am quite jealous. envy

Happy birthdayAshcombe enjoy your special day.

Enjoy your new car Rosesandlilac I am enjoying mine, though not the roadworks everywhere.

I'm glad you're settling in in Málaga GFT

I'm glad your new group went well GM

Wishing everyone a happy day.

Good morning from a wet and windy Durham. I’m struggling to fall asleep after my holiday, always late, but now it’s 4am.
My morning is free, but as the sale of my rental house progresses, I’m meeting a chap who will dispose of the items we used to ‘dress’ some rooms there.
DD2’s blue badge appeal rumbles on - now, she’s been asked to provide a bank statement???? Talk about jumping through hoops!
Many with eye problems today, I hope there’s some improvement - it’s one of my greatest worries.
Happy birthday Ash 🥂
Safe motoring Rosesand
Enjoy your LWW FGT

Best wishes to all. X

Morning all from West Oxfordshire.

I think I’ll make a batch of vanilla ice cream this morning. I have a large pot of double cream and I haven’t made this flavour ice cream for ages. I am seeing friends this afternoon for the first time in a couple of weeks. I was in Kew last week and the week before having lunch with friends.

Our Golden Wedding approaches. Because my sons still aren’t speaking (2 years now) we aren’t having a family celebration. How could we? So OH and I will have a celebratory lunch on the day and go on holiday a couple of days later. Another holiday in September to the Italian lakes is planned.

Have a good day everyone.

FGT🌹

Good morning from the East Coast and it’s raining and very breezy.

Enjoy your afternoon with wine and your lovely friends FGT
Happy birthday Ashcombe and to everyone celebrating today. 💐

I’ve just been on a long call with mum discussing my uncle and when I go to visit him today he’s getting a kick up the you know what.
He came out of hospital at three pm yesterday the Drs have told him they can’t do anything for him as there is nothing wrong. He goes in and is put on a nebuliser to ease his breathing and then gets discharged. He has carers coming in all the time as now he won’t get showered and today refused porridge and a warm drink. He even buzzes then to turn his tv off. I feel rather annoyed. Since the girlfriend came along it’s upended him. He wants a wheel along trolley like hers and thinks he needs a wheelchair as well. 🤦grrr! Watch this space.

I’m pleased you enjoyed the description of the Chinese wedding.
Today’s pic is looking towards my son’s apartment. They have had a couple of earth tremors these last couple of days and
a Cicada, the noise from the Cicada’s in their parks was deafening. DIL said it’s the sound of summer. Most of our pics had us in them so there aren’t many I can put on x

Wishing all a lovely day today 🌼

Happy Birthday to you Ash. My DH reached your age last November. Enjoy tour fizz later.

So sorry to read about your eye predicament CornerGran. I hope you improve very quickly now.

Good morning everyone from a cloudy and damp Northampton, thundery showers forecast, so may not get out with my walking group this afternoon.

Not much to write about yesterday - yoga first thing, followed by coffee, came home, did a pile of washing up from Sunday. Had lunch, read the newspaper then set to and cleaned the bathrooms, then damp-dusted the bedrooms.

My new slow cooker arrived at lunchtime, so got that unpacked and washed. I am going to try it out today and have just sorted all the ingredients to make a chicken casserole.

Have just had a quick skim through the posts today, and noticed that FGT2 is settling into Malaga - hope you have a lovely time out today with the WWW!

Wishing all a pleasant day.
