Good morning from a soggy Bristol. It rained all night.
FGT, I trust your arrival in your happy place was uneventful and that you are now now tearfully surrounded by lots of happy memories. Hugs.🫂
Yesterday, the rain eased enough for me to walk to Tesco, do the shopping and come home, dry-ish. For some reason I was very tired after that so didn’t do much until an early lunch.
I had to be at the village hall for our inaugural meeting of the replacement WI.
We, the committee, were very apprehensive as saying one would join is not the same as action. We were gratified that we had 37 members, all new of course. So we were gratified that we are viable!
I had heard the speaker before, but she left many of the audience in tears of laughter, talking about the “History of Knitting Patterns”! She is very good.
Today, I’m supposed to have a plasterer to repair the damage made by replacing my hall night storage heater for a smaller one. This is the third time someone is down to come; the first time he wasn’t a plasterer, the second was a no show. I’m not holding my breath!
The estate’s external painting , due in ‘22, is now “about to happen”! The scaffolding was one week late and has taken two weeks to put up; the painters are two weeks late and haven’t put in an appearance yet. I suspect the 5 weeks allocated for the job are going to turn into 5 months. Ah well!
May all your mountains be levelled. 🐦‍🔥Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning from Malta where a sunny day is forecast with a high of 25°C.

I forced myself to go out yesterday. Went to the DIY car wash and gave my filthy car a quick clean up, then for a drive where I found myself in Kiabi (a sort of French version of Primark) and came out with a few summer tops and a rather nice dress.

I called in at the garden centre and bought some plants which I will repot today and they will bring a bit of colour to my front terrace.

What a fascinating description of the wedding in China, WhiteSwan. Your photos are wonderful. I do hope the poor bridegroom has recovered from what ailed him. How unfortunate for him to be taken ill on his big day.

Hope you arrived safely in Malaga, FGT. I was thinking about you yesterday and imagining you walking into your apartment. There will be bittersweet memories I’m sure but I hope you’ll be able to enjoy your time away.

Thanks for all your kind messages, my head is still very sore and there’s a huge bruise in amongst my hair! The hairdresser will have to be gentle with me on Friday!

Wishing you all a good day, take care everyone.☀️

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 9° and pouring rain. The heating is on, thank goodness, as it feels so miserable. Bellasnana take things easy. GrandMattie I'm glad your WI type2 inaugural meeting was successful.
Yesterday was a good day. I pottered about in the morning and did some Spanish. Then went to the school library in the afternoon. I pass the nursery on the way to the school entrance and most of the wee ones come running to the fence to speak to me and show me toys. Its really sweet.
After I picked up the boys, we headed to my house. Lots of drawing and painting ensued. Dsil picked up dgs1 for football but he's still obviously unwell. Dd then came for dgs2. In the evening the garden man contacted me with a doable price to get all the work done. It won't be done til August because they are so busy but i know they are good so I'd rather wait.
Today I'll pick up the boys and bring them to my house for breakfast. Then school/nursery drop off. The nursery were going to do a sponsored walk today but it's been postponed til next Tuesday. I'll have to buy more strawberries as the boys ate my entire stock. Then home for a cup of tea and a scone and potter indoors til its time to collect them. I fancy macaroni cheese for dinner. Enjoy your day all.

Good morning from Zakinthos
It really is lovely here
I’ve nothing to report at all.
I spent yesterday lying upon a sunbed, something I haven’t done for years. I quite liked it😁
Take care everyone flowers

Good morning, it’s raining here on the hillside in south Glos, chilly and very un-springlike.
This afternoon I collect my new-to-me car, very much looking forward to driving it.
I have also arranged to take my friend out to lunch tomorrow, she’s such a lovely person, very amusing and a retired nurse like me.
I hope today goes well for you all 🌹

Good morning from another overcast one in La Sarthe.

Today is my 76th birthday! DH has made TIB as usual and he did put a bottle of fizz in the fridge yesterday but has failed to mention the occasion this morning which is unusual for him.

Thank you for the kind comments regarding his scan - I’m pleased to say nothing was found so that’s another reason to celebrate!

I hope you will find your time in Malaga therapeutic, FGT and that the weather is warmer than here! You’ve done well to cope with the return there.

It’s good to hear that your new group was well attended, grandMattue. I wonder how many other alternative groups will be established in a similar fashion.

A fascinating account of the Chinese wedding, WhiteSwan! Such different traditions are intriguing.

Have a good day, everyone! 💐🥰💐🦩💐

Good morning from a cloudy S E Essex, we have rain forecast…

The Imp is still asleep, I had a disturbed night and feel rather tired. His brother (yr 6) had a rock workshop all day at school yesterday, he was the singer in his group 🎶🎤. Today they have circus school. Fun and relaxation after a week of SATs.

Hope you have a good birthday Ashcombe 🎂🎉🍾

Not sure what I shall be doing today, but I expect it will involve a trip to M & S Food Hall.

Thinking of FGT2 🌞

Good morning from Cornwall where it's raining nicely. Yesterday I went to St Ives by train hoping to buy a special bolt for furniture from an old fashioned DIY shop. The elderly owner didn't have what I wanted but was so impressed that I'd taken three trains and travelled across the county just to find a bolt that he shook my hand! 😄 In a tiny shop in the main street, bursting with soggy tourists (of which of course I was one), I bought a small silver ring to celebrate a personal success and the man who sold it to me was wonderfully chatty. In fact everywhere I went yesterday people were delightfully pleasant, in spite of the constant rain. I don’t think I've seen so many cagoules in months. 😄

The views were stunning, as usual, the sea a beautiful brooding grey/green, which I prefer to the gaudy summer blues. There is a beautiful poem called The Light at St Ives by Sylvia Kantaris which I return to very often. (Oh dear, I always come away from St Ives waxing lyrical 😂.)

Today I'll come back down to earth and bus-hop to my daughter-in-law's and see what progress she's made as I know she and friends were shifting heavy furniture yesterday. She and my grandson will be moving in soon.

Have a great day Ash! 🥳🎂🍨

Good morning everyone from Lancashire.
Well, I only need to miss a couple of days and you've all been up to so much from bumps to the head, to travels, weddings, new societies and lots more besides!

We came home on Sunday. The A55 and the M56 and M60 were kind to us and we had a clear journey back.

DH has installed much needed stair gates. He hates any kind of DiY so it's been hanging over him for ages.

Yesterday we pottered about at home.
The seeds I planted have germinated in my absence, but will be quite happy for another couple of weeks before they'll need potting on.

This morning I'm taking the little chap for a dental check up then we're meeting a friend for elevenses or lunch locally.

Hope you've had a good 1st night at your happy place, FriedGreenTomatoes.

Have the best day possible, everyone. 🌻

Ps Happy birthday, Ashcombe. 🎂

Good morning everyone from a damp mid Essex. It was a very mild night so I didn’t need the fleece blanket on top of the 7 tog duvet! More rain is forecast for this morning I think and a milder day.
I went to a small garden centre and bought some dwarf bean plants, then put some fresh compost in the trough ready to plant the beans, but still need a bit more compost before I can plant them. A trip to a large garden centre is needed. I’ll visit my dementia friend later but otherwise nothing planned for today.

ashcombe Happy Birthday, I hope you have a lovely day!

grandmattie your new group is off to a good start! I hope it continues to be an enjoyable substitute for the WI.

fgt a bittersweet time for you in Malaga, hoping you are able to enjoy your holiday despite the inevitable sadness.

Thinking of those who are struggling and hoping life’s challenges become easier.

Have the best day possible everyone.
