Disappearing contributers

Someone yesterday suggested that Allira could be the reincarnation of a previously banned poster. That would make sense with her not being banned from one particular thread, but several. Someone else also mentioned “names” which I initially thought meant that A had used offensive terminology, although highly unlikely, and in fact names could just be referring to a change of name. But this is just conjecture based on a posters’ comments.
Whatever the reason I really hope GNHQ will come back with an explanation. This thread has reached 16 pages on my iPad, and G-netters’ collective f eelings have been made very strongly.

Allira hadn’t been banned before, that’s all just Chinese whispers.
If posters haven’t got any factual content then leave off the gossip.

Just the people without whom there wouldn’t be a GN.
We keep it going with our regular posts.
I am told there thousands of members ,most of whom never post.
Where would GN be without the loyal ones who start threads, post in others threads and keep it interesting and interact with others.

Some moved to another site at one point, but this one kept running, people kept posting, and the strikers came back, probably realising this ain't such a bad old site.
Which it isn't, if everyone plays nicely.
People can dislike, people can snipe deliberately or offend unwittingly.
I just feel bad for Allira to be caught up in something she has no idea of.
This goes beyond a little spat, or offence taken by a comment or two.

Why has a ( by all accounts ) pleasant, unassuming, popular poster been banned?
If she’s not a PBP, hasn’t been posting anything terrible to get yourself banned, then what’s happened?
HQ must have given her a reason?

I’d just like to say that unless Justine Roberts is made aware of this situation nothing will happen in Alliras case, and, the different attitude towards members Re Gransnet/ Mumsnet.
It won’t take more than 2 minutes to send that email.

We are adults, and for the most part we are aged adults, many have lived through hard times and good times but we are being treated as children who are not old enough to be told the truth of a situation, and I for one am upset by this. I find it demoralising to be treated as a child, I find it completely OTT for a regular pleasant contributor to be ostracised without explanation, it feels we’re not worthy to be treated as fully functioning adults and after all without us this platform would not exist
Would a mod please come on and talk to us on an adult level and explain what this is all about

Well mine took a little longer than 2 minutes but that's because I expressed my 'conspiracy theory' and I'm one who normally laughs them straight out of existence. I do hope our collective efforts will lead to a re-examination and the true motives behind multiple reportings exposed.

"Gransnet does not usually give a reason publicly, and they often lock threads that ask about banned users. However, they may reach out and explain their moderation decisions directly to the affected poster behind the scenes

It also adds
"If you believe you were banned in error, you can contact Gransnet HQ directly at [email protected] to ask for a review of your account"

So tell me why when Allira has reached out to the Mods several times over the past few days her emails have been ignored.
That was up until yesterday.
You have absolutely no idea how many members have been banned unjustly.
We have one of those banned unjustly on this very thread but she fought her corner long and hard and won her case.

It’s been so long, I can’t remember, I will ask her.

I wonder if GNHQ have considered the possibility that these 'numerous reports' could have come from one or two posters, who set up several 'new' accounts just so they could use them to report.

This would look extremely suspicious if reports have come from posters who don't have a posting history.

What is in no doubt is that no one can understand what Allira could have done to justify a lifetime ban and this is very concerning and unsettling for the rest of us.

Morning, I’ve just skimmed this thread, didn’t read it previously because I thought it was run-of-the-mill “what has happened to So-and-so?”

For the record, I never report anyone and I’m amazed that people do. I have occasionally reported spam threads. I’m sorry Allira has been banned, it”s ridiculous.

Finally, there was a comment somewhere along the line that those who remain silent on this thread might be guilty of being one of the reporters, this is too general. Some of us only use Gransnet as “light entertainment” - me included, given what’s currently going on in my life.

I'm gutted Allira has been banned.

I'm going to be out and about for much of today, but will pop in as and when in the hope that sense and decency has prevailed and Allira is back where she belongs, and her posse of reporters have egg on their faces and their cards well and truly marked.

I am not known for being controversial and many will not have even noticed me but this is spoiling my use of Gransnet so I have emailed asking for more communication to get problems sorted out. If I get banned then there is a conspiracy!
