Good Morning Monday 1st June 2026
(61 Posts)Good Morning Everyone ,
Its light but dry with some cloud over Brackley this morning.
Today will do the usual bus trip into Bicester , have a coffee and a snack , do a shop and maybe speak to those i know.
Health OK<
Take Care,
Mick
Good morning all and it’s blessedly cooler and the sun is shining.
Yesterday we went to DS1’s for coffee and pastries. Sat in the garden and DIL’s parents popped in to say hello. They’re a nice couple so had a chatty time with them.
One gd came down sleepy eyed but we didn’t see the other one. They’d been out the night before and had a good 10 hours sleep. Oh to be young with no responsibilities to keep you awake in the small hours.
I might go to the U3A AGM this afternoon as we have to pay up for a trip in July. I don’t really want to go, and hope my friend goes along and pays up for me. I’ve a busy week ahead and can do with ‘at home’ jobs today.,
Safe journey home Ash.
What a shock you had Bellas.
Your holiday sounds wonderful Brooke.
Take care everyone and enjoy the cooler weather. 🌺
Good luck Rosesandlilac for todays scan 🙏
Good Morning from a cool N Surrey. We must have had rain in the night.
I too very much miss Madeleine's interesting and wise posts.
I will continue raking amd sweeping today after cutting the grass yesterday. It is so dry and crispy.but at least looks tidier.
Good luck to those with hospital appointments and health problems.
Good morning from Stockport.
I haven’t looked out so can’t report on the weather, just that it is cooler in the house and pleasant.
I did go out fit the meal with my family to friends of theirs and enjoyed it but ax ai knew would happen I was very tired and wanted to leave about half an hour before we did which results in me getting jiggly.
However I am pleased tobe included and the food was lovely.
My runner yesterday did very well , he did the half marathon in 1 hour 44 minutes which is good.
He came somewhere in the low 2000’s which out of 40,000 was very respectable.
I have no plans for today will see how the day unfolds.
I send prayers for those involved in the disaster in Malta, a shock indeed for you Bellasnana.
To you all a pleasant day, enjoy if you can.
Sorry for the fat finger today.
I am off to York in the next 30 minutes, I need to get a wriggle on.
Will catch up later 🙋♀️
Good morning from Shropshire.Dry and breezy at the moment with rain forecast.
Thank you for all the birthday wishes for DH yesterday. We had a lovely day.The weather was kind and the three cousins were very happy to be together. Our little Staffordshire grandson was very upset going home as he won’t see his cousins until their camping trip in July now.Our lovely SIL fitted a new light fitting in the utility room for us which has saved us having to get an electrician in.
Today we are off to Staffordshire to collect DGS1 from school.
Safe travels Ash.I think you are amazing. From being so unwell to driving home from France alone💪My daughters would call you a warrior woman!
How awful and such a shock Bellasnana.
Thinking of Pantglas, madeleine and all our absent friends 🙏🏻💐
Wishing everyone the best day possible🌷🦩
Morning from a bright S Hants, 15, rain due early evening, of course it is, I’m having my car valeted!
Enjoy the rail trip brook, Gozo llfl and safe travels home Ashcombe.
Hope your scan is speedy R&L with no surprises.
Welcome back multi 👋
Voluntary phone today, then as I said, my car is being cleaned here, easy oven f&c tonight.
Have a pleasant day all.

Good morning Mick and everyone from rainy Carlisle. At least I won't need to go out watering plants, A job I don't like.
Yesterday's gloomy mood was gradually lifted by tackling a list of boring chores, bizarre isn't it?! But that's me. I certainly felt back to normal after getting outside and finishing the scarifying of the front lawn. What a lot of moss came off, that's a wet winter for you.
Today is bed linen changing and probably some vacuuming and bathroom cleaning. I've a very slow draining sink to tackle in the ensuite. It's a constant problem of black slime build up, something I never encountered anywhere else in all my decades of sink cleaning. Nothing prevents it. Today I will be reluctantly resorting to an enzyme cleaner.
After lunch, I'm hoping for some reading time but it could be dozing time as I've had a poor night's sleep.
Good luck Rosesandlilac, I wish you better results than you might be fearing.
Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Overcast but mild.
I slept much better than usual and will go to my exercise class this morning and then take a car load of unwanted stuff to the tip and charity shop.
Two of my DS phoned me, one rather sentimental about the family home up for sale! The other warning me against buying one I have my eye on. 😕
I will phone the estate agent and see what if anything is happening with my house sale.
My friends came to help with sorting books and papers for most of yesterday.
The "expert" found at least one valuable first edition which had been my mother's.
I wonder what she'd have thought 🤔
How shocking Bellasnanna!. I hope no-one was killed.
Safe voyage .Ash
Your holiday sounds great brook
Hope the CT scan goes well and quickly R&L
Have a good day everyone. It's Flaming June!
Good morning from sunny Leicestershire although rain is forecast.
Gardener coming this morning. I have added some pictures of my garden as Grammaretto requested.
Nothing much planned today except getting ready for the trip away this week.
Wishing everyone the best day possible.
Good morning from an overcast W Kent. We are planning a few hours at our favourite garden today. I also have more books to get rid of. A friend contacted me yesterday to say she has broken her wrist after falling over whilst watering the garden. Will arrange to visit asap.
All the best for your hospital visit R&L
Safe journey Ash
Good morning all from a sticky North Leicestershire.
I have Mount Everest to tackle this morning so hope it cools down a bit.
Have the best day possible everyone.
Lovely garden Dragonfly
Morning Mick, morning All from a cloudy corner of Somerset. We’re forecast rain although just now it doesn't look like it.
I’ll be sorting our cupboard of doom this morning before tackling some ironing. . Mr C plans to water the pots - then it will rain 😊 - before tackling the spiders in the conservatory. An open window sends an invitation to join us it seems. We may wander out this afternoon, see how we feel after lunch, and easy jacket potato with prawns and a salad, prawns are high on my favourite list, potato less so.
Understand the nerves grandmattie. I’m sure it will all go well, it’s a good place to meet and everyone will be there because they want to be.
Hope today is as smooth as it can be roses.
Safe and trouble free drive back ash, it’s a long one alone.
Have the best day you can everyone, look after yourselves.
Safe travels Ashcombe. I drove to the Netherlands a couple of years ago and despite having lived there I still found it a challenge.
Good morning everyone and happy White Rabbits Day from a brightish Northampton, a bit of sunshine about but it will not last and we shall see rain later.
Yesterday morning I walked to the paper shop to settle my bill before my surgery tomorrow - I do not like owing money and have paid in advance to the end of June. Had a sausage butty when I got home, then changed into shorts and t-shirt ready to tackle the last bit of weeding. Although it is like the Forth Bridge, never finished and I really need to go back to the beginning and start all over again.
I then cut the back grass again, trimmed the edges then cut back my massive vine before it surrounds the pergola like Sleeping Beauty's castle, making sure to leave plenty of shoots with baby grapes 🍇 on them. Then watered the pots by the front door, and just as I was doing that, Amazon arrived, delivering the new griddle pan I had ordered.
Luckily I had planned steak for dinner.so was able to wash it and then try it out. A big thumbs up from me!
I had had this brand before but after about 10 years of use the handle fell off, my fault as I had dropped it!
I then bought a cheap one from Sainsburys but hated it as everything stuck in it, so decided to splash out and go back to the old trusty brand. Glad I did.
I need to make up DD's bed for tonight as she is staying over before taking me for my very early surgery tomorrow. And then make sure the cats' litter tray is cleaned out and fresh.
Then I am going out to lunch with friends who will arrive about 12.45 to pick me up and go to a nice country pub.
What a shock for you this morning Bellasnana, hoping there are not too many casualties.
Safe journey back Ash.
Hope.your CT scan goes ok Roses.
Wishing all a pleasant day.
Good morning all from a cool cloudy Morecambe Bay where weather normality is resumed.
Our deliberations yesterday got us nowhere, and we ended up doing our usual walk in the woods and having a lazy day. Today may be similar although we must make a start putting everything back. We tried yesterday but following a light hearted argument as to where the shoe rack was- I denied moving it as did DH. It turned out to be in my shed! Oops.
What a shock Bella I hope there are no casualties. I wish fireworks could be banned. I hate the things ever since we had a nasty accident with fireworks when I was a child. We had the bonfire in a friends garden and my dad had been given a large plastic bag of fireworks by someone as a thank you. It was on the side waiting to be used when a spark from another firework set the lot off. There were rip taps chasing us and aeroplanes flying at us . We all just huggled together terrified until it burnt itself out.
Safe journey Ash you can do this!
Thinking of all with troubles. Take care everyone 🌸
Hi everyone I am new on here. But I also will be joining granmatte tomorrow. ( hope it’s spelt right ) At the Mall. We are travelling there together . Have a good day.x
Good morning all from a very wet Glasgow, where it is 13°C.
Bella, what an awful thing to happen.
Llft we used to visit Gozo often. I loved the ferry trip, although it was a bit of an adventure in a car.
I did very little yesterday, I had neither energy, nor inclination..
To my surprise, DS1 appeared after playing football. He started playing in The Fat Boy's team, (that is their actual name) however he is no longer fat!
Now their manager and takes it very seriously.
Like his siblings, he thinks I am exaggerrating about DH, that was, until I walked him to his car and told him a few home truths.
His is always quite distant with me, so I had nothing to loose!
I had hoped, he would have acknowledged how difficult it had been for me, he didn't.
Later on, Babydoll arrived with her parents. I didn't get a chance to batten down the hatches!!!
She was a little strange, only wanting me and refusing to give DH a hug,
We said Papa was ill, but nothing. Then when I said, Papa had needed Calpol, she looked over her shoulder, made a face and walked backwards, to reluctantly hug him🤣
I could have predicted her first words. Gaga, I'm hungry, what she really meant was, she wanted Quavers.
As a treat, she usually gets Quavers and a Fruit Shoot, This time however, she wanted one of Dollie's Capri Suns, because she is a big girl now. ♥️
Insisting on going out in the garden, to play in the water fountains and fill them with stones, I was the only person, who was allowed out.
She kept going on about a microphone, then spotted what she was looking for, a solar light, which actually looked like a micro phone.
A set of wind chimes was her instrument and I had to listen to a rendition of Baa Baa black sheep. It was so funny. It was then my turn and she very kindly applauded my performance.
This morning, I have to let a parishioner into Church. An abandoned wheelchair was left in the rain, in the car park yesterday.
By process of elimination, I worked out, who it was. We have a fair number of wheelchair users, it took some time.
However, I had no contact number. By asking various parishioners, I eventually got a hold of the owner's son. He had no idea, he left it.
How can you lose a wheelchair ? 😂
Roses, a very anxious time for you. You will be in my prayers. X
Have the best day you can folks and best wishes to all the poorlies,
Good morning everybody from Málaga where 34°C is forecast. Yesterday I was in dither mode, in the end opting for coffee with a friend, the gardens and a Chinese meal with said friend.
Safe journey home Ashcome I hope it’s straightforward and smooth for you it will reboot your confidence. And all my best wishes to you dear Roses&Lilac today attending for your scan. I hope the result can give you some degree of reassurance towards your treatment plan going forward.
Today I’m in decisive mode. I’m off for a day at the beach and the one I go to is on the marina so I shall have a cocktail as I come up around 6pm.
I haven’t been on the beach for 3 years. Himself and I just used to walk along the paseo or sit and people watch on the marina. So I know I shall have mixed emotions. I love a beach day but doing it solo will bring back so many memories I know will press the bruise. I think a few tears will fall but hey, that’s normal and I’ve got my dark blue reflective sunglasses so my feelings can stay my own.
I forgot to wish Ash a safe journey. I admire you, I can no longer cope with motorway driving nowadays.
Lovely photos Dragonfly.
FGT.❤
FGT you are another warrior woman.Himself would be so proud of you as are we your friends on gransnet💐
I echo what Susan says FGT.
