Previous thread linked - GNHQ have now responded.

Thanks Notagran for starting part 2 of this very important subject

V3ra Tue 02-Jun-26 19:30:02

I feel we’ve lost an interesting poster, one who often made me smile
I’m uneasy about this ban and the possible impact on other posters

The reasons given don't reflect my understanding either. It all sounds very cloak-and-dagger whereas I'd always read her posts as more tongue-in-cheek or a gentle nudge.
A sad day indeed ☹️

Thanks for your very enjoyable company Allira. It's always been a pleasure.

Rosie51 Tue 02-Jun-26 19:37:35

I'll miss you Allira, you have been very badly served. I don't recognise the description given for your banning, but can think of a few other posters it fits absolutely, especially the thread policing. A sad end to a horribly managed process. 🥲

J52 Tue 02-Jun-26 19:42:52

Goodbye Allira, I remember you helpful and interesting posts on the Gardening threads.
I also think the description of ‘crimes’ fits others who are still here. Maybe a few walk on ice.

Galaxy Tue 02-Jun-26 19:43:08

Thanks for starting second thread notagran

Galaxy Tue 02-Jun-26 19:44:47

The issue is that those of us who try not to report are benefitting the posters who do report. It is worth thinking about.

AGAA4 Tue 02-Jun-26 19:48:34

I'm sorry Allira you often brightened a thread with your humour. Sad to see you go but I wish you only good things in the future.

MartavTaurus Tue 02-Jun-26 19:52:10

Thank you Notagran.
I rushed off the final post on the first thread without concentrating on the main issue.
That a kind, generous poster is gone, whose only crime was to stand up and challenge those who attacked other posters.
I'm very sad too.

petra Tue 02-Jun-26 20:12:58

She will be happy and sad in equal measures by your responses.
But we have to be real. Would you want to belong to a forum where the powers that be have got it all wrong while the poster who reported is rubbing her hands.
It looks like we are destined to debate the price of eggs in Tesco’s when they put the price up.

Still shaking my head.
Thread- policing has to be a subjective judgement - and as the site is supposed to be self—moderating that would only be brought to the mods’ attention by someone reporting. Plenty of scope for malicious reporting. It reminds me of when a journalist was door-stepped the other Remembrance Sunday and arrested for apparently writing something which caused offence to somebody. No, they couldn’t say what she had said, and they couldn’t say who had claimed to be offended so she could not defend herself.
This is not the Gransnet I joined 15 (?) years ago - witty, well-informed, friendly, humorous, intelligent but above all, good- natured.
I still think somebody somewhere had it in for Allira and has exploited the system to convince the mods of her so-called crime. It’s like being denounced under an authoritarian regime. And I thought 1984 was safely behind us.
A sad few days.

I've read the response from Anniegransnet and am not reassured. I'm more convinced than ever that they have got this wrong. Very wrong.
The only positive note was that they sometimes review decisions. I hope they review this one. Soon.

Is there any chance that Allira has been confused with someone of a similar name?
🌟

The response could almost be describing the member who Allira sometimes had a different opinion with.

Spinnaker Tue 02-Jun-26 20:42:47

Wow - now I've seen sheer spitefulness at it's best - cowardly too in that the reporter doesn't have the bottle to come forward.

Best wishes Allira - you will be missed greatly. I'm a great believer in karma so here's hoping 🤞

Cossy Tue 02-Jun-26 20:49:03

Such sad times. I just think this whole “reporting” people is so oversized, a bit sad and rather pathetic!

I have no issues with anyone disagreeing with me nor have I had too many issues with those who share my own beliefs etc.

I’d never report anything other than spam, though I’ve been reported once or twice and had posts removed 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

Allira was/is a lovely lady who doesn’t deserve this treatment!

Rosie51 Tue 02-Jun-26 20:49:57

It certainly is. And if GN are suddenly faced with a greatly increased number of reports for all the transgressions Allira has been accused of, well they've only themselves to blame.
Who knew 'thread policing' was a reportable offence, not me for sure!

That pattern included thread-policing, inflammatory posts, personal digs, bringing old grievances back into threads and encouraging criticism of posters who report posts.

Well I can think of one or two posters that will likely be disappearing very soon unless they can curb their aptitude for at least two of the 'crimes' listed.

Galaxy Tue 02-Jun-26 20:51:57

Yes i think it might be worth thinking about whether not reporting is wise.

Magenta8 Tue 02-Jun-26 20:59:57

I hope BlueBelle doesn't mind my quoting what she said:-

"I personally have seen none of this behaviour in any posts I've seen of hers and I've been on here 13+ years."

Although I have only been on GN a short while, I must have read plenty of posts on different forums by Alira and I agree.
