I feel for you Grammaretto this house hunting/selling has become quite the project (too much so really).

Sar53 you’ll be at the eye hospital now. I hope your husband’s graft has worked - 3rd time lucky hopefully. It’s been a worry for a while. Sorry to hear about your eldest grandson ginny that must’ve been a shock for you all. I hope his surgery goes well. Gaga I’m thinking of your big brother with sepsis after his foot amputation, my sister’s husband is early days yet - exactly one week post surgery to have an above knee amputation. His wound is being dressed daily at home now but I suppose infection is always a concern. Marydoll well done you for having the foresight to take photographs for the insurance company - what a mess it all was! As you say, good job no one was sitting at that table. 😱

Grammaretto Tue 09-Jun-26 08:56:26

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. It's started sunny so I hope to get a washing dry.

Every day now is taken up with house related things.
I had more viewers yesterday who drove 5 hours just to see my house!
Today members of the historical society will take some books and archives about the town and paper industry. Our house was part of that .

This afternoon I am viewing a house myself.
It's lovely but not the right location so I m not sure why I'm doing it. A house I offered for has been sold to someone else.

Your plaster fall and search for stopcock is horribly familiar to me Marydoll I am glad you persevered. They are very lucky to have you.

How shocking for you all Ginny. Wishing your DGS a speedy recovery. And Georgesgran your poor DD.

Great to have successful plastering gMattie

Lovely photos of St Michael's Mount Holly we went during our honeymoon and again 50 yrs later

I'd better stop now and do something useful 😅
Hope everyone has some joy today.

Good morning from a grey and cool NE. The heating is on again and maximum temperature today is forecast to be 14°.
Yesterday I sprayed the weeds in the garden and my neighbour came for a chat, she is off to the outer Hebrides later in the week. She drives to Uig on Skye to get the ferry, not something I would contemplate at 80 but she does it every year.

Going to contact my sister in Germany, it is the 6th anniversary of my BIL's death. He died in a palliative care unit during lockdown.

Nothing planned for today so will just take it as it comes.
Have a good day.

Georgesgran Tue 09-Jun-26 08:34:14

Good morning from Durham. I’ve been awake since 5am. It was raining and is still. I’d washed DD2’s towels last night, but they might have to be tumbled.

DD1 had a dreadful incident on her drive home last night, when kids on a flyover on the Western bypass threw a stone at her windscreen. It shattered but stayed in place. She was unhurt, very shocked, then absolutely furious. Even with her insurance there’s still £350 to pay, but it’s only money - things could’ve been an awful lot worse.

My phone calls went well yesterday, still tying up the loose ends after the house sale. I’ve an empty today, no Little Dog, but plenty to get on with at home, plus a countdown to Cyprus on Saturday.

Best wishes to all. X

merlotgran Tue 09-Jun-26 08:31:34

Good morning all from south Hants as well. Blustery with weak sunshine at the moment.
A hair appointment this morning then I’ll do a small food shop. Admin and emails for U3a this afternoon.
Hope everyone has the best possible day.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Tue 09-Jun-26 08:28:28

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s dry and the sun is shining (for now). Alexa tells me 15°C only though is our forecast with showers later.

I have some bits of admin to attend to but nothing else on the cards. The day is my own. I might go to the Trafford Centre and look for a new swimming costume as I now only have one in Málaga - the others got culled in my clear out as they were past their best. I’ll see how I feel later.

Jaxjacky Tue 09-Jun-26 08:16:14

Morning from a dry S Hants, heavy showers due later.
I’ve a number of phone calls to make today, MrJ playing bowls this evening.
Hope the stitches come out easily*R&L*.
My best wishes for a full recovery to your grandson ginny
Have a pleasant day all.

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny 🌞 Northampton, but rain forecast again later.

The.funeral I attended yesterday was a lovely service, very moving and our elderly friend was very affected by the death of her son. There was a good turn out, with family coming from Essex and many local friends. A well attended wake followed at the local pub, where Rose perked up over a cup of tea and sandwiches. Many family reminiscences shared!
The rain held off luckily, but I stupidly left my umbrella in the church! I mentioned it to the vicar and somehow it may hopefully be returned to me via a friend.

Today will be a day of gentle pottering at home; shall probably clean the bathrooms and change the bed. Also need to finalize my Sainsbury's order for tomorrow.

Wishing all a pleasant day.

dragonfly46 Tue 09-Jun-26 08:07:32

Good morning from a brightish Leicestershire.

We had a lovely weekend with the family in Whitstable. The weather wasn’t great but we found plenty to do. The problems we have are still there but they seem more solvable when we are together.

Today we need to pick up a few things in town then someone is coming to replace something in the stairlift. I think it is dying from underuse!

Oh Marydoll you do have a lot to contend with!
Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Marydoll Tue 09-Jun-26 07:54:10

The mess, I found.

Marydoll Tue 09-Jun-26 07:50:30

Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is only 8°C.

R&L& I hope the stitch removal is not to painful.
I hope your grandson is ok, * Ginny.*

An early start for us, DH has an appointment for various health checks and hopefully find out test results.
We were going to go out for the day, but I had a diverticulitis attack yesterdayafternoon and DH doesn't think I am well enough to go out. Also,, I am struggling to walk.

What a day I had yesterday,I had planned to go to church, check in with the visiting priest, then go home and rest.
I was tidying up, when I heard banging on the fire doors beside the sacristy. It was a very agitated money counter.

^You need to come MD, the ceilng in the parish house has come down. I expected a little bit of plaster, but half the dining room ceiling had come down. What a mess. Anyone, sitting at the table could have been badly injured.
Both of the clergy are away all week, so here was no-one to deal with it.

The gardeners were cutting the grass, so I went to ask them to help with moving the plaster.
One is a retired plumber, but we couldn't find the mains to turn off the water. He did manage to isolate the hot water, for we had no idea what was leaking.
As I went out the back door to speak to them, I stepped into a puddle. The utility room ceiling also had a leak and the ceiling was about to come down..

I knew the P,P,, who was in Rome and wouldn't answer his phone,--he never answers it here either--, therefore I was forced to phone the young curate. He had no idea, where the stopcock was. We spent over an hour, looking in the warren of a house for it. I felt I was intruding going into personal spaces.
Eventually a call to a former P.P. gave us the location. It was located behind the dishwasher!!! However, it was jammed in and when the parishioner tried to get it out, it was caught on the lino.

The other gardener, Dollie's best friend's papa, cleared up all the chunks of plaster ( I couldn't have lifted them,) then he vacuumed the carpet. ♥️
The pair of them were absolutely wonderful, I couldn't have done it on my own. Thank goodness, we are a very close parish community.

The curate was surprised to find, I had taken lots of photos of the damage, for insurance purposes, prior to clearing up. At last he has realised that I am not the daft, old biddy, he thought I was.😉
He was delighted, when I advised him, he didn't need to return home, especially since there was no water in the house.
The Diocesan Property Manager, is now in charge, thank goodness.

What really annoyed me was, the housekeeper had popped in to pick up something, saw the mess and left, because it wasn't her day. 🤬
If we hadn't switched off the water, there would have been a disaster zone today.

Wishing you all a pleasant day, whatever your plans.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 09-Jun-26 07:50:02

I hope all goes well for your GS ginny

luluaugust Tue 09-Jun-26 07:50:02

Good morning from a sunny W Kent. Yesterday’s visit to my friend with the broken arm went well and we all enjoyed a chat and catch up. Afterwards DH and I visited our nearest NT house for a light lunch
Today is the monthly U3A meeting with a talk on Bletchley Park
rosesandlilac Hope the stitch removal goes well
ginny Hope your dgs’s surgery goes well
Best wishes

Ladyleftfieldlover Tue 09-Jun-26 07:48:04

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. Rain is forecast later.

Our cleaner is due today - she couldn’t come yesterday. Our gardener is also due. I will be visiting friends when she calls so I’ve asked OH to ask her about jacaranda trees. Apparently they can be grown in the UK but in a pot. They wouldn’t survive our winters so would be moved inside before the first frost.

I ordered a beautiful Monsoon caftan when we were still in Malta. It arrived yesterday and I’m very pleased with it. I will save it for our Italian holiday in September.

Have a good day everyone, especially those of you with difficulties.

Gelisajams Tue 09-Jun-26 07:47:42

Good morning Mick and everyone from Morecambe Bay where we have had rain of Biblical proportions overnight. I hope it’s got it out of its system as we are taking the camper on a road trip. We have sites booked for the next three days and will book ahead as we go along. Our return trip will cover some of the places my paternal ancestors came from.
We are heading off somewhere near Barnsley for our first stop and a visit to Canon Hall will be in order.
I got a call from the practice nurse yesterday afternoon regarding the swab she took from my ear. She sounded very surprised when I said my ear was now fine and had responded well to the drops she prescribed, as the results were back and showed a nasty infection. We agreed I would collect a prescription from the surgery but only use it if a further problem develops. I don’t really want to be taking a course of antibiotics unless essential.
At last GMattie about time!
I hope your stitches are removed painlessly R&L and there are no further problems.
Take care everyone 🌸

Good morning from a brightening Penzance.
A lovely day yesterday taking a boat to St. Michael’s Mount which Marzipan will know and entails a trudge over rough ground to the top, it well worth it for the views and history. And we had sun!

In the evening to Mousehole and another nice meal. Today to the Minack theatre so will wrap up as out on the open. My DD is our very efficient tour guide and sets the itinerary.

Thoughts to RosesandLilacSar ginny and all

Gingster Tue 09-Jun-26 07:32:48

Good morning all and it’s sunny here at the Suffolk seaside. A chilly breeze still.

Yesterday we had torrential downpours and I was stuck in the summerhouse with little pooch for some long time. I came in eventually to watch the tennis, which was rained off.

The Estate Agent came early to replace the loft hatch. He’s very tall and had a ladder but it was a tricky manoeuvre and I feared for him tumbling down the stairs. I had quite a chat with him about being here when surveyors etc are visiting. They’ve been less than respectful in our absence.

Today I’m going shopping with my neighbour. We have plenty of food but I do need other things - batteries, black sacks etc.

Sorry to hear about your gs Ginny . Thankfully ‘just’ a couple of broken bones 🙏.

Hope all goes well for Rosesandlilac as well as Sars Dh. 🤞

Take care and I hope all your days are ‘good’ ones.☔️

brook2704 Tue 09-Jun-26 07:32:33

Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve light grey clouds but it’s dry, showers in the forecast for later
Oh goodness ginny what a worry about your DGS, I hope the op goes well today and he recovers quickly
Hoping you get better news about your brother Gaga
Yesterday the weather was quite warm and sunny for most of the day and I enjoyed working in the garden, I was tired but happy at the end of the day and the garden bin was full. Today I’ve got a volunteering session this morning and then I might go into town for a browse around the shops.
Well done with your weed free front garden redcar - we’ve still a way to go!
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Greyduster Tue 09-Jun-26 07:29:49

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire. It’s quite bright at the moment but the forecast is for rain later. I slept like a top last night.

My new cordless mower arrived yesterday and though I hadn’t intended to use it just yet, I ran it over the front lawn at tea time and was very impressed with it. I think we shall be friends!

School this afternoon with my Year 3 readers. I’m hoping to walk there but it’s looking doubtful.

Have the best day you can, folks.

baubles Tue 09-Jun-26 07:29:16

Good morning from damp South Lanarkshire. This weather is getting me down although the sun did make a very late appearance yesterday evening.

I had another stint at the ironing board yesterday, DH is now under strict instructions not to wear certain linen shirts before our holiday.

I hope you feel much better today Bella and that the surgery goes well for your DGS ginny.

It’s my day for the shop but before i go in I’ll have a quick look around the town at the decorated windows of all the shops and businesses. It’s Gala Week in our wee town, we’ve already had the Music Fest, the Raft Race and the Duck Race, a very busy time for all involved. Our church held the service on Sunday evening and we served teas afterwards, it was very well attended and we had lots of appreciative comments from our guests.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Redcar Tue 09-Jun-26 07:22:30

Good morning everyone from mid Essex, it was sunny earlier but is now cloudy and trying to rain. Yesterday was wet to begin with but we did see the sun in the afternoon for a while. Today will be another cool showery day. I had two walks yesterday and didn’t get wet.
It was supposed to be sports day at my DGDs school yesterday but it has been postponed until Friday.
I may go to the garden centre this morning to buy plants for my newly weed free front garden. I’ll see my dementia friend later.
grandmattie at last, your plastering is done and the outside painting has started! I hope it’s not too messy and disruptive.

rosesandlilac I hope the stitch removal goes well, enjoy your breakfast!

ginny I hope your dgs’s surgery goes well and that he will soon be up and about again.

bellasnana I hope you have a better day today and enjoy your dgs’s concert this evening.

Thinking of all those who aren’t posting at the moment for whatever reason, we miss you all.

Have the best day you can everyone.

Gagagran Tue 09-Jun-26 07:08:13

Good Morning all from a dry (so far) central south coast. 12 degrees on the garden thermometer. Hopefully we are promised an improvement from Friday onwards.

DH managed to replace the outside light on the corner of the garage yesterday but had to keep dodging short, sharp showers. We couldn't test it till dusk but it works and looks good It's a more modern style than the previous old lantern type.

My cold has eased considerably and I am hoping to be fit for choir tomorrow evening and the concert on Saturday. Fingers crossed anyway.

My big brother is still fighting sepsis in hospital and I await today's update with some trepidation.

Glad you got plastered at last GM - your patience must have been wearing very thin! We seem to have to wait for everything for so much longer these days and time is short for many of us!

Kind thoughts to all with worries or struggles and hope for resolutions very soon.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 09-Jun-26 06:54:35

Good morning from a cloudy corner of S E Essex.

I will have to wake The Imp up soon for his 8am school start. His brother the 11yr old has also stayed over along with DD 🤷‍♀️(who will probably have a lay in) The boys have requested boiled eggs and soldiers for breakfast, so that is what I shall be cooking.

I shall go to the farm shop this morning on the way to M & S Food Hall to pick up an order, and get some food bits.

Hope your stitch removal goes well RosesandLilac

Hope your DH hospital appointment shows his eye is improving.

Have a good day 🙋‍♀️

Bellasnana Tue 09-Jun-26 06:49:19

Good morning from Malta where a sunny day is dawning with a high of 36°C😎

Glad to hear you got ‘plastered’ at long last grandMattie and that the painters have made a start outside. As they say ‘everything comes to he who waits’😅

ginny awful news about your DGS, a dreadful shock for you all. I do hope he will make a full recovery after the surgery.🙏🏻

Good luck with your stitches coming out Llfl. Tw weeks seems a long time. I despair of the difficulties folk go through to see a doctor or nurse.

Grandmabatty what is it with small boys? Our two are always hungry too with DGS1 saying pitifully ‘I need to eeeeat’ as if we’d been starving him!😄

I had a wasted day yesterday as I didn’t feel too good (not gong into details as it’s TMI ) but I ended up going back to bed and sleeping for two and a half hours. I still slept until 7.30 this morning, with a couple of pit stops, but I feel as though I’ve been drugged.

I might go to the village this morning if I can get going before the heat of the day. It’s getting too hot to be out and about much.

This evening is the boys’ concert at school so I will enjoy seeing them perform! I won’t enjoy the barbecue that follows so may leave after the show.

Always thinking of Madeleine and missing her. It seems we are not going to find out what has happened to her.😞

Hoping you all have the best day you can.🤗
