It feels odd to have a kitchen without our founder.

We shall carry on as she would have wished.

Supporting each other and sharing our ups and downs 😘🥂🫖☕️🍰

Yes utbb Imogen is 18, just finished A levels. I do hope your tum and your nausea have improved.
We called in our local earlier to meet a friend, it was beginning to fill up at 5:30 with people for the game later 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿.
I rang my 93 year old uncle this morning, it’s their 67th wedding anniversary next month, 67 years!!
Sausages on the way for dinner.
Very slightly cooler weather today, but humid, MrJ has watery eyes, he says from fans on his face, either that or hay fever.
It is delightful having you back Blossoming you were missed.
Hi to the quiet corner, I do think of you and some of the challenges you face, hoping you’ve all had a decent day.
Here’s to a gentle evening and a result in Atlanta.

gillgran Wed 15-Jul-26 19:35:43

Congratulations Nannytopsy on your anniversary. flowers wine
Hope you feel better soon, Utbb.
This hot weather doesn't help our health, especially if, like me, you find it a bit too much.

Hope we can keep our England flag flying after tonight!!

GrandmaC47 Wed 15-Jul-26 19:48:09

Happy Anniversary, Nannytopsy 🥂
Just home after a lovely meal at our favourite pub/restaurant with DD1 and d-son-outlaw. Ready to watch the match now. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Grandmabatty Wed 15-Jul-26 20:11:35

DH is watching the football and I’m just chilling on the sofa after a lovely day out with friends in Edinburgh
Hope everyone is doing ok, take care all x

Scapa1 Wed 15-Jul-26 21:01:52

Happy Anniversary Nannytopsy hope you have had a lovely day. It was ours yesterday 53years, obviously I was a child bride 😂.

Grandmabatty Wed 15-Jul-26 21:07:46

Happy belated anniversary Scapa

Nannytopsy Wed 15-Jul-26 21:26:19

Scapa1 that’s my line too! It was very lovely food. T he roads were completely empty on our way home - I wonder why? 😉
Thank you all for your good wishes. 67 years Jax! Good grief.
Nearly came home to DS and DGS - they had a power cut early in the game 🤣. It came back on - phew!
I hope you improve soon UTBB.

Redcar Wed 15-Jul-26 22:24:28

A belated Happy Anniversary scapa and to nannytopsy, I hope you’ve both had enjoyable days!

I hope your poor tummy gets better soon utbb.

I’ve avoided the football this evening, but have just seen the result. 😢

Thinking of those in the quiet corner.

Night night everyone.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Wed 15-Jul-26 22:32:56

I got home just after 4;30pm
Quick hello to my friend next door but two to thank her for watering my tubs at the front door - the nasturtium leaves have grown ti the size of saucers while I’ve been away! They look really sweet.

Then out to book club held early so those interested could attend yet still catch the second half of the match tonight. I had high hopes after our goal but it wasn’t to be abd I took down the England flag
I’ve had up at the balcony patio door. I feel a bit deflated really. I do t follow football really but Kane and Bellingham didn’t shine like I thought they would.

Grannmarie Wed 15-Jul-26 23:50:13

Great to see you back, Blossoming, I'm glad you're keeping better and able to enjoy your walks again.

Happy anniversaries, Nannytopsy and Scapa. Cheers!🥂🥂

Get well soon, UTBB, take care. flowers

GrannyGravy, keep following doctor's orders, hope you feel better soon. flowers

Well done, Imogen, enjoy your holiday job! I worked in our local Woolworths when I was at High School.

I had a great catch up with dear friends over lunch today, it was good to see them.

Thinking of everyone, especially our absent friends. TOYA, NNGB.

Hi kitchen pals, it’s a lovely warm sunny day here in Inverness. We’ve just finished loading up the car and DH has gone off to the tip and charity shop. I started by just sweeping the garage floor this morning but one thing just leads to another and before we knew it we ended up with a car full of stuff to get rid of. I’m getting much better at throwing things away gramdmabatty ! Anyhow I’m in now for a quick rest and a cuppa
A belated Happy Anniversary to you too Scalpal congratulations on your 53 years together ❤️
Hope everyone is having an enjoyable day, take care all x

Grandmabatty Thu 16-Jul-26 16:10:22

Well done Brook!
I weeded this morning but can't find my hoe to deal with the tougher blighters. It got very warm so i came inside. My new fan was delivered! At the moment im enjoying the cool air before heading to dds to check for mail. Ds sent me photos of the baby's 20 week scan and has invited me to lunch tomorrow. So all good at the moment. Enjoy the rest of your day kitchen folk

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 16-Jul-26 17:07:38

Snap - My new fan has been delivered too Grandmabatty! I got a Meaco as recommended on a ‘fans’ thread here. It really is whisper quiet and not cheap at £200 but I love it already!

My stepfather looked tired when I went to see him this morning - the shingles has certainly knocked the stuffing out of the 93 year old gentleman.

Then I had my nails snipped and a bit of summer madness applied! 😂

Grandmabatty Thu 16-Jul-26 17:29:29

Mine is all singing and dancing FGT. It has a built in air purifier apparently and a dinky wee remote. I hope yours works well too

Scapa1 Thu 16-Jul-26 21:03:46

Good Evening. Thank you for the good wishes Our eldest granddaughter has just turned seventeen, she has had her first driving lesson and sat and passed her theory test this morning. I don’t now what the hurry is as she will probably have to wait months for a test. I can’t believe she has reached that stage I still think of her as the little girl I looked after two days a week. They grow up in the blink of an eye don’t they. Lovely day again, I am not really a hot house plant but I do like sunshine. U3A coffee and chat tomorrow morning it continues meeting all summer whereas the craft group has stopped till September.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 16-Jul-26 21:15:17

Yes mine has a little remote and it clips magnetically to the front of the fan I’m very impressed!

I ate my meal on the balcony tonight I can’t remember the last time I did this and it was wonderful! I was in my PJs no one looks up and it was nice and cool 😁

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 16-Jul-26 21:21:05

I’ve washed the dishes (no dishwasher here it use to be Himself, I’d cook and he’d side the table) and there’s plenty of people watching g to be done two floors up I do love it you never feel lonely.

Usedtobeblonde Thu 16-Jul-26 21:26:45

Good evening all, I did start to feel better yesterday afternoon and ate a tuna sandwich but I haven’t felt good today, no appetite and the heat has really got to me.
I have done nothing but a washer full of towels and they are still waiting to go out as I can’t do that anymore and my lodgers were late home.
I had a problem with the washer, turned out a frog had crawled up the outlet outside and got lodged, blocking it from draining, it either drowned or suffocated, but finding it saved me several hundred pounds I’m delights to say.
I am supposed to go out for a meal tomorrow evening, I shall decide about lunchtime while I can still cancel.
I hope you can all sleep in this heat better than I manage.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 16-Jul-26 21:37:03

Oh uttb you do sound low. I hope this weekend sees you right. 🤞
Your granddaughter gets the keys to their new house on Monday.
Did you make up? x

Jaxjacky Thu 16-Jul-26 21:43:16

Very late congratulations Scapal 🥂.
Imogen will be saving for driving lessons, as an epileptic there are strict rules for when she can start, it’s her dream to drive. Well done to your granddaughter .
Last of our early potatoes lifted this morning, they’ve been brilliant this year, Tesco delivered this afternoon.
Another hot day, rain would be most welcome.

Redcar Thu 16-Jul-26 21:51:54

utbb I’m sorry you’re not feeling well again, and hope that you’ll soon feel better and able to go out tomorrow evening. I’m sleeping for about five hours a night at the moment, which is all right for a few nights, but I’m feeling weary now.

Swept and washed the kitchen and bathroom floors, ordered some blackout blinds for the glass porch which faces west, and had my hair coloured and cut. Enough for one day I think.

fgt and grandmabatty your new fans sound very effective and efficient. I’ve been sitting in front of the open patio doors all evening, but have closed them now as I don’t want moths in the house. Still 27.5 upstairs but I’m getting used to it now!

Night night everyone, sleep well.

Nannytopsy Thu 16-Jul-26 23:05:49

When the sun goes down we leave our windows and patio doors open to cool the house. Our neighbour’s house and garden are higher than ours. Tonight she lit her bonfire of rabbit hutch clearings as it went dark. Her small garden is a “rabbit sanctuary “ and there are dozens of them. Not a nice bonfire of woodsmoke and our whole house smells of smoke, particularly our bedroom. She is a difficult person.

Tomorrow we are off to babysit for the two smallest DGC. A hectic couple of days but no complaints from us grin
We have seen how quickly they grow up with the older DGC so we make the most of this time.
Sleep well everyone!

cornergran Fri 17-Jul-26 00:51:44

Sleep is a bit elusive. It’s a comfortable temperature so not that. There’s always a breeze here, often what feels a howling gale. Windows and doors open front and back in the evening soon cools us down. There’s always a sit in the garden at dusk too watching the bats swoop about

I’m sorry you’re so low utbb, you do sound down in the dumps.

Enjoy being run ragged nannyt, you’re right they grow up far too quickly. The two we spent digging tunnels on the beach with are young adults now, the third no longer little. I miss those young days.

Proud grandparent time here Our not so Littlest has done very well in the dreaded SATs in spite of the challenges he faces with autism. He was so anxious and worried, we’re more than pleased for him, a much needed confidence boost.

Good for Imogen jax, I’m sure she’ll prevail and follow her dream.

I really should be asleep. Friday is volunteering day, it’s not a good look if I nod off that’s for sure.

Night night everyone.

Charleygirl5 Fri 17-Jul-26 10:30:27

utbb sorry to hear you are no better. Maybe lunch out is a step too far? At our age it seems to take an age to recover.

I appreciate teenagers want to learn to drive but you must be very apprehensive Scapal and Jax. We know the dangers only too well.

I have been looking for weeks for a simple plug-in corded electric fan and I have found one at Tesco. It should be delivered by Monday. I had a small fan which was stolen. Three of us buying fans will definitely invite rain and colder weather. Sod's law.
