Good evening kitchen folk. It started off cloudy here but turned into another sunny day. I went to Aldi for food first thing this morning. Then did a washing and made two batches of cookies for the boys. Apparently dgs2 loves my raspberry jam and wants me to make more! I had a rest then, I brought in the washing and ironed it all, in addition to the ironing I already had, then put it all away. My halo is shining! I'm having a seat before assembling dinner from yesterday's curry. I thought I might see dd and the boys but that didnt happen. No worry though as I will be up at the crack of dawn to get them tomorrow. So not an exciting day but a productive one. Enjoy your evening kitchen folk. I hope fgt is having a lovely time in Málaga.

Hello kitchen pals, it’s been a lovely sunny day here too grandmabatty, quite warm too. I’ve pottered in and out of the garden and washed and dried the bedding. Nothing much else to report really, but the day has gone quickly
I’m feeling tired so have come through to the bedroom for a rest and some quiet time before bed.

A warm bright day today, so got a load of washing dry outside. I’ll iron it tomorrow. I cleaned the shower room so it’s sparkling now.
Had a lovely barbecue at DD2s, so heartwarming to see all four granddaughters getting on so well together. The 11 year old looks after her 3 year old cousin really well and the two 8 year olds are like sisters rather than cousins. We sat outside for a while but it became quite cool in the wind so were glad to go in. It’s dark now and feels chilly.

My fears were unfounded thankfully brook it was just a normal visit. We have minded the gc quite a bit this holiday and DS has also done a fair bit and I think he is appreciative of our efforts. The family arrived minus DIL who was feeling unwell. We are at our lodge home away from home so the boys went off to play golf and I took GD for an ice cream and then to the play area. They are away on holiday tomorrow so our time is our own …. and breathe.

Hello kitchen people.

I was in bed a bit early tonight. We had a lovely day, lunch with our daughter at a favourite Sunday lunch venue but I developed a migraine due to the bright sunshine. I took a triptan which worked quickly. During the evening I began to feel absolutely drained so I went to bed.

It feels really warm in the house even though I’ve opened all the windows. Or maybe I’m under the weather!

Just come to bed! We have been getting earlier but are lapsing into late to bed then late to get up. Tomorrow I will need the alarm as I’m taking DGS to his first golf lesson. We have bought him 2 for his 13th birthday at the weekend. Then I have a meeting with the ladies who are helping me with the church roof fund. It’s a slow process and I am not sure we will succeed. I don’t want the church to fall into disrepair and close but for a congregation of about 12, in a village where the majority are not interested, is it just a waste of money? Not to mention effort.
There is plenty of rain forecast at the end of the week. 🤞

Hi all, a bright, windy day, the voluntary phone was very quiet, a modicum of dusting was done.
My cortisol injection was tomorrow, a cancellation, but I need to stop taking blood thinners 48 hours before, so it’s Friday now.
Hope the golf lesson went well Nannytopsy and I was pleased nothing amiss Grandmadinosaur.
Hope the holidaymakers GG13 and FGT are having a good time.

Good evening kitchen folk. I've had a decent day. The boys were really good today. Dgs1 excelled at being a big brother this morning. He was so kind and supportive of his little brother who went into school no bother. Yay! I had stuff to do at home, most of which I achieved. I even did a little weeding and pruning. Wonders will never cease! The boys are long gone. Dd took some soup from my freezer for dgs2 which he ate. I have made a big pot of stovies which I will have tonight and tomorrow. I hope everyone is well.

A very windy day today, but fairly warm. I resumed trying to cut back a very spiky tree which is growing amongst a large forsythia and even larger fuchsia at the end of the garden. I would ask the gardener to do it, but I think he would just cut all three plants down to the ground!
Needless to say my back objected to the unexpected activity, but will recover tomorrow 🤞.

grandmabatty good that your dgs2 is settling down well at school and that his big brother is looking after him.

A very quiet kitchen tonight. The golf lesson went well and he seemed to be better at the end than at the beginning! There was a cold easterly blowing which I felt. Not been underdressed often this summer.
I have cleared all of my ironing!
FGT is quiet but she’s not in her own apartment so maybe no WIFI?

Ive been reading everyone’s posts, nothing of note happening here. All very quiet if busy with chores that were put on heat-hold.

One task was washing the conservatory glass roof. I draw a veil over the process C has finally acknowledged that cleaning the roof is a task best subcontracted. 😊The front can be done simply enough. . Sadly the back is a foreign country now. Mr C is mortified he can’t manage it, loss of height and muscle strength means he just can’t reach the back even using our mini tower. The front looks good. I just don’t look at the back 😊. I tell him it’s just time passing and the natural way of life. He doesn’t seem convinced.

I really must try and sleep. It’s one of those periods where sleep is elusive. Memo to self. Must do better.

corner it is better to be safe than sorry and spend a few ££ to get somebody in to do the job.

I live on my own and will not tackle curtains any more because I don't feel safe on my mini stepladder and taking both hands off it to do any work is a no-no. I am sensible when it comes to jobs like that.

I am expecting a Sainsbury's and Amazon delivery and no doubt they will arrive at the same time.

A beautiful summers day here today, blue sky, sunshine and a light breeze. Not too hot either. I would have loved to be on a sun lounger either in a beach, or by a swimming pool, but never mind, the garden was quite pleasant instead!
I vacuumed throughout this morning, then had to sit and rest because my back was very achy.
I saw my dementia friend this afternoon, she seemed to be in pain but couldn’t tell us where it hurt.

cornergran it’s so hard for us all to come to terms with the fact that we really shouldn’t climb up to tackle tasks that we could have done a few years ago. Like charleygirl I no longer climb ladders, no matter how small.

I hope fgt and grannygravy are both enjoying their holidays with families. I believe that fgt is staying in a friends apartment which has no WiFi - hence her silence!

Hi all, too right about not tackling certain jobs Redcar I defer to MrJ who is a relative youngster, but there will come a day..
I had a positive appointment with a physio today, reassuring and helpful, shame I had to pay though.
It’s been humid, I'm so hoping for some decent rain, it seems to swerve us, in 11 weeks we had a little last week, Wednesday I think.
Fingers crossed you have a good night of 💤 corner, I am liking the darker mornings, even with a mask and blackout blind the first hint of light, bing, I’m awake.

Hi kitchen pals hope everyone is doing ok
I’ve had a busy but enjoyable day, my volunteering session this morning finished early so I managed to fit in a quick class at the gym and then met up with a group of lovely friendly ladies this afternoon. Home on the bus and I finished a bit of housework and admin this evening.
It’s been a gorgeous warm sunny day again, nice to be out and about although I’m still suffering with the awful hayfever. It’s my eyes that are the worst just now, really stingy, watery and red. Nothing seems to help much but I have dry eyes anyhow so it’s a combination of both 🙁
Pleased your physio helped Jax but annoying that you have to pay for it
I’ve some small step ladders that I don’t mind using although they feel a bit wobbly, DH can still go up the ladders to do outside jobs but it’s not too high as we’re in a bungalow. Like Charley says it’s best to be on the safe side though and not risk anything
Hope you sleep well corner , I’m the opposite just now, can’t keep my eyes open but I know it’s the strong antihistamines! 😴

We had a shower this morning but not as much as forecast unfortunately. More rain and storms are forecast for the early hours I think.
Seated yoga today, which was enjoyable but quite hard work.
I didn’t do a lot afterwards, it was quite warm and humid so not conducive to gardening or housework! I read the weekend’s papers instead.

brook sorry you’re suffering with your hayfever and hope the antihistamines help.

jaxjacky good that the physio was helpful, but, as you say, a shame you had to pay for it.

Evening all. It’s very quiet.
I’m still limping after spraining my ankle two weeks ago, and I can’t seem to motivate myself to do anything meaningful.
We’re looking after the two granddogs till next Wednesday, fortunately they are not keen on walks but enjoying tearing round our back garden.
Hope everyone with medical woes get some relief.
I do hope that someone reopens Soops kitchen, when this one closes.

I should have been out line dancing this evening but unfortunately the instructor is poorly so it’s cancelled. An unexpected evening in so wondering what to watch on the tv. I might just go to bed instead and listen to my audiobook

I worked in the school library this morning for an hour, then saw both dgs1 and dgs2 on my way out. Hugs from both brightened my day. A lazy afternoon again. Well, I drove OH to a hospital in Bristol this morning and he saw the Burns Unit people. His arm and hand look dreadful but not too painful fortunately, he has been told to apply moisturiser and it should heal in a few weeks. He was relieved,

We were home just before lunch and I tried out my new ice cream machine. I made lemon ice cream and it was delicious:

My Sainsbury's delivery arrived, and the driver stood there allowing me to do everything. Sainsbury's wanted a review on that delivery which they received but I doubt it was quite what they expected. I am returning to Morrison's and Ocado who still supply bags. I use Tesco so I may do a "naughty" and appear at the door with a white stick and see if I get any help from Tesco.

I will miss this lovely drying weather for clothes.

LLFLI am surprised your DH is not in much pain, but that is good.

Nearly missed this kitchen! See you n the next one. Hair cut yearly tomorrow then off to Shropshire for DB’s funeral on Friday. I shall be glad when it’s over - I have the gospel reading to do. At least that’s easier than a eulogy.

charleygirl one of the reasons I have Ocado deliveries is that everything comes in plastic bags, which can be returned at future deliveries. I would struggle to unload everything from crates.
