I have no where to be today and nothing major to do so could have a lie in and listen to my audio book but I feel guilty if i do. What time do you normally get up each day or do you feel guilty lying in bed.🤔

My sleep pattern is not the norm. I suffer with insomnia. So I might be awake until 5 or 6 in the morning. I then go to bed, hopefully to sleep. So lie ins for me don't exist. I sleep when I want/ can. In fact I'm probably going up soon for a nap

Surely though, unless you have to be up for an appointment etc., why on earth wouldn't you lie in!

Ooh no never, I never lie in and don`t want to, I love my days and am always ready for whatever. I rise early and go to bed early, love my bed but love the prospect of another day too

Nowadays I have a lie in any time I feel like it. I don’t sleep well, so it’s not unknown for me to be tossing and turning for much of the night, but then to go into a deep sleep at 5 or 6, and wake at 9 or even later.
I never feel remotely guilty about it.

Wake up around 5ish for our dog, but then go back to bed with my Kindle.
If I fall asleep again, why not?
The alarm is set for 7.45. That’s a lie in from my 6am working life. Don’t feel guilty travelsafar, just enjoy.

I never have a lie in. Never ever did

I don't get up until nearly 8 am, my alarm goes off at 7.50.
But I definitely feel guilty if I don't get up immediately, so never lie in. I aim every day to be drinking a cup of tea by 8.

No guilt here - I lie in till I feel ready to come down - and that could be anytime from 9.30am - 10.30

I wake up at 7 every morning, make a cup of tea and bring it back to bed. When I hear DH getting up I go for my shower. It is all very leisurely.

Absolutely no guilt at all.
This morning I didn’t wake up ( for the second time) until 11am.
The first time was 4ish and then I didn’t go back until probably 8 after having my Actimel and a cup of tea.
I am less than a month from being 89 and my time is mostly my own, it is very liberating.

If I sleep late I am delighted. I wake several times in the night, and sometimes need to catch up. As others have said, I had an early start on weekdays for years, so why would I feel guilty now that I don't have to get up? Apart from anything else, who would know and why would they care?

Snap. No guilt. If I have something I want or need to do I'll set my alarm, or sometimes get up early becuase the night was disturbed and I'd like to sit and listen to a dawn chorus

One of the treats of being retired, and not having atm caring responsibilities, which of course makes things very difficult for some on GN to have a decent sleep:

Is to stay up late listening to some music or finishing a film or maybe getting a wash ready to put out when I get up. Atm I need a slow start to the day and am glad to be fortunate enough to do it.

I love a lie in, especially in the cold winter months and never feel guilty.

I only set the alarm if I or OH have somewhere to be , otherwise I get up around 9 or 10 am, during my working life I had to be up around 6 am ,so now that I'm in my 80's I certainly don't feel guilty when I have a lie in...so enjoy your lie in Travelsafar...ditch the guilt..
