Do you feel guilty if you have a lie in??

I can't lie in bed once I'm awake. I have to get up. I usually wake early- between 5 and 6. It's annoying but I'm used to it

No I never lie in and don’t like to I m usually wake between 4 and 5 play few games on my iPad and up by 6 am latest

My mum and Dad were 6 am folks as were my maternal grandparents who I spent a lot of time, with so I guess we are generations of early risers

In the summer months I am usually wide awake by 5am so I read a bit and then get up about 6.30am. In the winter I tend to get up later especially if it is very cold. I don't have a lie in very often but I never feel guilty if I do.

I'm like Batty and can't stay in bed once I'm awake. I usually wake around 5am and get up any time around 5.30-6am. I wish I could lie in, but it just doesn't work for me.

I am up around 7 am most days. I rarely have a lie in, but I wouldn't feel guilty. At my age I do what I want when I want. I now have so many aches and pains it is more comfortable to get up.

Absolutely not. I like nothing better than getting up feeding the dog and doing one or two things then taking my first cup of tea back to bed.

I work 6 days a week, usually on Sundays but off Fridays. Also, the menopause causes me to constantly wake up at various and multiple times late at night/early hours, leaving me utterly exhausted, so I don't feel the slightest bit guilty about having a lie-in!

I'm up at 7 for work at 8, as I only live 10 minutes walk from work.

My younger self - rushing around for work, kiddies, commitments is now quietly celebrating that my older self gets to choose! And, not feel at all guilty about it

No never, I worked from 6 pm last night to midnight and got to bed around 1 a.m but was still up before 7 a.m. I just can’t sleep much past that hour.

Going for a leisurely shower in a min and then out and about.

I am a lark, up between 6.00am - 7.00am. My idea of a lie in is 8.00am.

I don't like lolling around in bed. Like some others, if I am awake I am out of bed. However I am known to come down in my dressinggown, sit at my desk and start doing things and suddenly realise it is 11.00am and I am still not dressed.

Why the guilt? Just do what makes you happy - heaven knows we have earned it after a lifetime of child-rearing and working hard!

Wwe wake up at around 6 am everyday. I can stay in bed drinking tea, scrolling sm and watching tv for ages. The thing i can't do is sit around doing nothing during the day.

I’m surprised there are so many fellow larks here, I’m the only one I know who wakes very early and gets up straight away. I couldn’t ever lie-in but it’s nothing to feel guilty about.
One of the advantages of living alone is doing what you want, when you want. This morning I misread the clock and accidentally got up just after 4 instead of my more usual 5.

Last night I went to bed early and woke twice in the night. Eventually I got back to sleep and woke at 8.10. I don’t feel guilty. I needed the sleep. Now if I was still in bed at 10am I would feel guilty, but it is nobody else’s business, unless I have made an arrangement and am letting someone down by being late.

Usually up between 6 am and 6.30 am. But today, on holiday, didn’t wake till 7.45 am! Never have a deliberate lie in (too much pain) but slightly envy those who can …

No! and why? I had to get up at silly o'clock when working to facilitate what was sometimes an onerous commute. Then family life and fitting in some work around that. I don't sleep that well, generally having coffee brought by o/h around 7. Then the scrolling begins for both of us and why not. During the day, we're doing something reasonably productive. There needs to be a reason behind guilt, other than getting up early from it being hard wired through previous routines maybe? Lying in late wouldn't constitute a wrong, so no guilt!

I'm having to shift myself today though we have guests for a couple of days.

Nobody should feel guilty about a lie in if you haven't got much to do.
I can't lie and am always awake at 5am. I do some exercises and read my book and get up after that usually about 6.30.

Now that we are both retired we go to bed and get up at whatever time feels right. The days of watching the clock are thankfully over 😊

I don't feel guilty, as such, but I can't appreciate a few more hours because my mind automatically races through the housework and shopping lists.

And it won't stop. So that's the end of that.

Sunday morning treat is to take my latte and iPad/kindle back upstairs lay on the bed scrolling and reading.

I can't lie in for long once I'm awake but try to stay in bed till around 6am. We have two dogs and they will expect their breakfast once we're up and I draw the line at feeding them at 5 lol. I've been used getting up at 6 for years now and think that half the day is gone if I lie in any longer!

Yes I would feel not so much guilty as slothful if not up by 7.30 or so. Usu around 6.30 at this time of year later in winter.
