Good Morning Everyone,
Light and a dry start here in Brackley this morning.
Due to the weather I have decided not make any bus journeys thanks to weather, while its sweltering I will stay at home ,
Mind you in the 70`s I worked in Oman in similar tempretures but it was in the desert and different .
health OK ,
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from Suffolk where we ‘only ‘ have an amber heat warning.

I have an all day meeting which thankfully is on Teams so no travelling involved. Our dining room faces north so should be the coolest part of the house and I shall use that.

Great idea Gingster to come up here for sea breezes and some relief from the heat. I met my friend yesterday in our next nearest town for coffee and lunch and it was considerably hotter than at home although it was only about 7 miles inland. Enjoy.

Hope all have a comfortable day.

grandMattie

The trousers. Bright, aren’t they. 😎

Wow!

Perhaps the white tee is too big a contrast?
I’d wear cream or caramel grandMattie 🤔

grandMattie Wed 24-Jun-26 07:36:22

Perhaps, fgt, but I’m not going to change…

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Wed 24-Jun-26 07:37:55

😁😁

dragonfly46 Wed 24-Jun-26 07:39:38

Love the trousers grandMattie.

Ziplok Wed 24-Jun-26 07:40:32

Good morning
Already warm here at 22C. Set to climb to 33C so another day of not doing very much. I have opened the window in the sitting room which is on the shady side of the house at the moment and there’s cool coming in which is very pleasant. It will change by mid day when the sun moves round. By then the blinds will be fully down, window closed and curtains drawn. It makes the room dark, but helps a little bit to keep it cooler. As Grandmattie says, it’s the humidity that makes it worse. Dry heat doesn’t feel quite so draining.
I hope you all manage to stay cool today. Take care.

Ziplok Wed 24-Jun-26 07:41:23

“cool air coming in”, that should say.

Ashcombe Wed 24-Jun-26 07:42:30

Good morning from Torbay where it’s feeling hot, hot, hot! ☀️🎶 Open windows overnight helped us sleep reasonably well.

Yesterday the theatre was welcomingly cool as we tidied away props used in Spring and Port Wine. This afternoon we shall review the play at Wednesday Club.

Those trousers look perfect for this weather, grandMattie!

Thinking of those missing contributors.

Happy hump day! 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

Gagagran Wed 24-Jun-26 07:48:23

Good Morning everyone from an already hot and sunny central south coast.

Thank you to all the very kind Grans who congratulated our
DGD3 on her degree result (a First in Mathematics at Durham University). She was born with no hearing in one ear and limited hearing in the other so has always had to work extra hard to keep up at school. She lip reads and as long as she can see your face she would not be discerned as deaf to those who do not know her. There is nothing that can be done to help her hearing. She has been seen by just about every specialist audiologist in the country. Hence, you may understand my pride in her achievement, and maybe a bit too much boasting about her? (She is blessed with beautiful looks too!)

Our cleaners have just turned up as they want to avoid the worst heat of the day and I have no problem with that. DH is going on a short morning cycle ride with his club, keeping next to the coast where it is not quite as baking hot.
It will be another heat dome to get through today and tomorrow but looking a little less scorchio on Friday.

I feel a bit better today and am hoping that my rose garden fall injuries are finally over the worst. I feel to have aged another decade!

Take care everyone and I hope that all of us with worries or struggles of any kind get some relief today.

kittylester Wed 24-Jun-26 07:51:21

Good morning all from a sticky North Leicestershire.

Our cleaner is due this morning so we will have all fans going. And I am aiming to take advantage if Tesco's air-conditioning

Have the best day possible everyone.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 24-Jun-26 07:54:50

Oops just forgot that I have a Sainsbury’s delivery 9-10am, est get a wriggle on…

EkwaNimitee Wed 24-Jun-26 08:10:27

Good morning Mick and all from hot Carlisle. 21°C at dawn, now 25°C and rising fast.
I'm later here than usual as I thought it best to get out for an early walk. There was a cool breeze under the trees so quite pleasant. It's not now. I had a quick mow of some of the longer grass as soon as I returned since that's a favourite spot for cat-pooping. Now for a day of almost no activity, just progressing laundry and doing admin followed by reading.
There will be a Tesco delivery at lunchtime.

I hope you can all keep comfortable. I am relieved to be no longer in Surrey!

Grammaretto Wed 24-Jun-26 08:11:19

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Cool now but even here yesterday was boiling.

Another bad night due to back pain despite the chiropractor yesterday. I have a doctor's appointment on Friday so may get referred to physio.
An eye test today.

I hope those of you sweltering today find some relief.

WhiteSwan63 Wed 24-Jun-26 08:22:32

Good morning from the east coast.
I managed a decent night sleep. I laid in a cold bath right before bed to cool my body temperature and went straight to sleep. I won’t walk today but I’ll go to the nice air conditioned gym. DGS is coming after school. He enjoys watching the spirals on the sprinkler but hopefully he’ll actually go in and out to cool off. At least his school is still open.

Hope you can all keep cool and comfortable today. 🌼

Grannydaisy1 Wed 24-Jun-26 08:25:39

grandmattie They are just right for this weather. They're brilliant. You are really clever and quick. Love them

Georgesgran Wed 24-Jun-26 08:29:19

Good Morning from a cloudy Durham, where the temperature is to rise to 28. I know it’s causing disruption for many, but I’m enjoying it. Back to normal next week.
DGS1’s sports day went ahead yesterday, it was very hot in the sun, but nothing was very energetic or included running and he was allowed an early finish.
I have an empty today, as my friend has a foot wound infection, so we’ve postponed our usual meet up. I’ll pop to Dobbies, as I want a bag of compost and a couple of plants first, might just potter in the house, then sit in the garden and top up my Cyprus tan later.
Some progress after all Rosesand
Thinking of and worried about the MDs

Best wishes to all. X

Jaxjacky Wed 24-Jun-26 08:30:55

Morning, 26 already in S Hants, glad you can escape to the seaside Gingster, I have envy.
Cleaner yesterday whizzed through, MrJ’s team won their evening bowls match and England were dismal.
Little on today, keeping as cool as possible is the aim.
Doubly well deserved Gagagran ⭐️
Stay safe all.

Ashcombe Wed 24-Jun-26 08:39:41

An even more creditable achievement on the part of your DGD3, Gagagran! What strength of character to persevere and reach the highest level against such odds! 👏👏👏

GrannyGravy13 Wed 24-Jun-26 08:41:20

Wow Gagagran no wonder you are so proud and pleased for your DGD 👏👏👏

hollysteers Wed 24-Jun-26 08:42:53

Good morning from Sunnyside northwest coast.
I like this weather up here and today I’m off to the usual lunchtime recital and this evening the opera co rehearsal with drinks afterwards.

Quiet day yesterday and I did some mending. I don’t sew or knit but enjoy sewing holes in the toes of my winter tights.
Jazzy kecks GM, wise to stay in Michael and thoughts to all🌺

hollysteers Wed 24-Jun-26 08:44:38

Well done to your DGD Gagagran💐

monk08 Wed 24-Jun-26 08:49:46

You have every reason to be proud Gagagran such an achievment👏

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 24-Jun-26 09:01:42

I’ve just got back from dropping my granddaughter off at school - 10 minutes there and 10 minutes back. The sweat is dripping down into my eyes. It’s barely 9 am!

Marydoll Wed 24-Jun-26 09:05:59

Good morning all from a sunny Glasgow, where it is 16°C.
Very sensible to curtail your activities, Mick. Thank goodness, it is cooler up here.

GM , how on earth did you get the pattern to align? Y^ou are very skilled. Now I would wear a black top. 😉

DH had an unexpected GP appointment. After I nagged insisted, the phoned for his blood results, which were unexpectedly clear.
He advised the receptionist, that he was very unwell and to his utter astonishment, she offered him an appointment with the senior partner yesterday.
I was so relieved, because DH's mood swings are awful again.

DH was surprisingly acquiescent, when I said, I was typing up everything that had happened. The GP, actually took the sheet from him and read it.
The GP lived up to my expectations and told DH he had a fair idea of what was happening. He could not believe that the hospital discharged DH, without investigating further.
Apparently he has secondary hypertension, caused by something else going on in his body, which is driving his BP up.
Thanks to the NHS App, the GP could view how high, erratic and inconsistent, DH's BP is, despite large doses of BP meds. It is not controlled at all..

All DH's symptoms including his BP issues, point to a problem with his adrenal gland.
He now has an urgent referral to see an endicronologist.
Who knows, what would have happened, if I hadn't dragged him kicking and screaming to A&E?
He now acknowledges I did the right thing, but in an hour, he will probably have changed his mind and tell me, that I am overreacting. 😉

My own revised appointment letter for the RA consultant arrived yesterday.
It is the same date and time as the original one, but at the hospital instead, so that I can have the full works done.
This means a four week wait, to be seen. There are absolutely no available appointments. They have pulled out all the stops to support me.
I don't know how I will cope until them, I am struggling.

I have been immunosupressed and clinically vulnerable for a good part of my adult life and just got on with things, but this time has scared me. I do not want to have to shield again.
Warnings of a simple cold, becoming potentially, pneumonia, sepsis, meningitis, etc have literally put the fear of death into me.
DH of course is oblivious as to how serious things are. 😪 It is not his fault, his illness is making him like this.

Perversely, I look very well, which makes things even more difficult.
We were having a fund raiser for the Restoration fund on Friday, ^ A Night at the Movies^ with the Burgh (brass) Band.
Normally, I would be there in the middle of it all, but it is a no, no.
I know some people think I just don't want to do the work and this is an excuse. 😪

This morning first thing, I will need to go and get new meds for DH, while the pharmacy is quiet and few people are about.
It will then be a day in the garden.

Have a good day folks and my very best wishes to all, who are struggling.
