Its light ,dry and the start of another warm day here in Brackley.
Todays plans hopefully a bus trip into Bicester do a shop and return.
Hope this weather changes to wetter conditions soon.
Health OK,
Take Care,
Mick

RosesandLilac Fri 26-Jun-26 05:14:37

Good morning Mick, I’m another fervently hoping for cooler weather very soon.
It’s already 24° here on the hillside in south Glos, I’ve been awake since midnight, unable to do anything without disturbing DH and the dogs. So, by lunchtime I’m going to be knackered!
It’s been an unbearably hot night, even with two fans running I couldn’t get comfortable.
Yesterday’s trip to the lung cancer clinic was interesting, I had an apology for everything that’s - -not- - happened and for being told my cancer was inoperable and incurable at the original appointment months ago.
The cancer in my right lung is small but growing quite quickly so needs to be removed; it’ll be keyhole surgery, 5 days in hospital, no immunotherapy etc. That will be discussed when the nodules in both lungs start showing signs of malignancy.
This will be arranged asap but won’t be for a few weeks. Unfortunately it means travelling to Bristol so I will look into taxis or the local LINK service.
So, action at last!
The rest of yesterday was written off, it was intolerably hot, I felt quite unwell despite judiciously using fans, closed curtains and windows etc.
I’m so hoping for cooler weather now.
I hope you’re all managing somehow, hugs x
🌹

Good morning from a still warm Bristol. The night was very warm and it is already 24, but fortunately won’t rise much higher. A lot of thunder and lightning around 2am but not a drop of rain.

I did my baking very early, finished by 8am - cookies, brownies and a lemon meringue pie finished in the cooling oven. The latter is one of DS’s favourites, and was demolished very quickly by the adults.

I spent the rest of the day flopping about, dripping with sweat in my “cave”.

The heat seems to have wrecked my hanging baskets. I’ll have to replace the poor plants with something which will last into autumn. Talking plants, the gardeners mowed the lawns, the first time in 5 weeks. They looked very pretty full of flowers, but lawn, they ain’t. Now it looked cared for.

In the afternoon, DS came for me which was very kind as standing in the worst of the heat to catch a bus wasn’t going to be fun. Iris was very hot and irritable; DGD was off to a party, loving the post-exam freedom.

Today is our last Spanish class with this tutor, a lovely man. I shall have to find another class for next year.

In the afternoon, my neighbours are coming for their haircut. I’m having mine cut very short today. It grows quickly and short is best in this weather.

I hope all your appointments and treatments go well. Keep 🥶 cool, stay safe. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🥶🦩🦩🥶

grandMattie Fri 26-Jun-26 05:30:46

R&L, what interesting news. I’m so pleased that the cancer is operable, keyhole only and short hospital stay. What a relief for you.
As for feeling unwell, I don’t think this extremely humid heat does anything for anyone’s health. 🫂🫂🌹

RosesandLilac Fri 26-Jun-26 05:49:03

Thank you grandMattie, a massive relief! X

Ladyleftfieldlover Fri 26-Jun-26 05:50:58

A very early morning all from a hot West Oxfordshire. At least I can sleep in this weather!

I didn’t do anything yesterday. The heat was difficult for me. OH did the Waitrose shop and I didn’t attend Book Group. Finally I developed a migraine which I nipped in the bud with a triptan.

I am having a hair cut today. That’s all,

I’m not complaining about the extreme heat. I just don’t cope with it anymore!

R&L - that’s much better news.

Have a good day everyone. It’s going to be scorching.

karmalady Fri 26-Jun-26 05:53:17

Good morning from s somerset

It feels a lot more manageable today, although my bedroom is still 30 degrees. I opened my loft hatch last night and will give it 20 more minutes before the sun bakes the roof again

I did nothing yesterday, except go into survival mode. Today I feel as though I want to uncurl and get back to normal. I need to tend to my plants and will cycle to my allotment at around 5pm

Meantwhile my washing needs to go on and I have a kitchen to tidy

Melanie61 Fri 26-Jun-26 05:53:48

Good morning from Sheffield

Roses, I’m pleased for you that finally you are getting better care, do you feel better now that you have a proper treatment plan?
Well to say that the family spent most of the time outside yesterday the house seems more untidy than normal.
I will sort it out after my second cup of tea in bed

My poor houseplants are suffering. I’d not noticed as all the curtains have been closed but they are all bone dry and wilting.
I’ve just dunked them all in the washing up bowl in some water, I could nearly hear them sigh with relief.
A normal Friday for me. Working then my friend round for coffee. I think we will sit outside today.

There is a talk this evening up the road about a local pit disaster that happened 100 years ago which sounds very interesting so we are going to that. The area where I live is peppered with disused mines, all gone now.

Take care everyone flowers

karmalady Fri 26-Jun-26 05:55:02

Rosesandlilac lovely news from you today

Gelisa Fri 26-Jun-26 06:12:11

Good morning from a cloudy very warm 22 degrees Morecambe Bay. I’ve been up a while at the behest of Crazy Dog who doesn’t know what to with himself. It’s 26 degrees in the house despite the air cooler.
While I was outside with him I could hear birdsong, an owl and the distant rumble of thunder. I do hope a good downpour comes this way.
We will head to the woods in a few minutes and join the other early dog walkers. We have been seeing the usual dogs and their owners despite being a couple of hours earlier than usual.
I then have an osteopath appointment. He’s done wonders with my back and it’s so much better than it’s been for years. After that who knows what the day will bring?
You must be relieved R&L but annoyed it has taken so long to get a proper answer and even more waiting before treating can start.
Thinking of all with troubles of one sort or another , take care🌸

Good morning from a very overcast Cornwall where I'm on my patio swing seat enjoying the breeze from the river, nibbling mizuna and rocket which is growing in a tub nearby. I was up and out so early yesterday that I was home, lugging a bag of compost, before 8am, having been to my son's then Asda via three buses. It felt so good to be out and about! 😄

Today I have absolutely no plans but will probably venture up into my wild wood to seek the shade.

That's encouraging news RosesandLilac. 🌼

multicolourswapshop Fri 26-Jun-26 06:18:44

Good morning from the east coast of Fife where the sun rises very early and goes down very late. it’s going to be another roasty dayRosesandLilac you sound very strong and positive about your diagnosis no one will really know what’s going on in your head I’ll pray for you on this journey, it won’t be easy my dh had bone cancer therefore I’m with you all the way.

Take care my friends this heatwave is still to be with us for another week 😫😫😫

GrannyGravy13 Fri 26-Jun-26 06:34:59

Good morning, it is already 24°, I slept well.

Reassuring news RosesandLilac

The 11yr old is still asleep, he has his usual 8am school start, but yet again will finish at lunchtime. I am off to the gym, then I shall laze in the garden. Tonight I think we shall wander down to one of the local Indian restaurants.

Thinking of all our poorly friends and those who do not like the heat 🙋‍♀️

Greyduster Fri 26-Jun-26 06:50:00

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where it is cool at the moment but won’t be later. Apparently in half an hour there is a 45% chance of rain! Wot?? Then we are set for another scorcher. Yesterday I was tied to the house so I made a quiche which I shall portion up today for the freezer, having had a piece for my tea last night.

Sometime this morning I’m expecting a phone call, so must stay in for that, and then a couple of hours at school this afternoon. I must do a food shop this evening as one set of my returning travellers are here for food (and no doubt football) tomorrow. I can’t wait to see them!

RosesandLilac I’m very pleased to hear your news👏!

Have the best day you can, folks.

dragonfly46 Fri 26-Jun-26 06:53:37

Good morning from a very warm Leicestershire.

Just got back from dog walking. Why does he insist on drinking from his paddling pool instead of his bowl?
I think I may have got a tick bite yesterday. The nurse I saw wasn’t sure what it is but it looks pretty horrid.

Pilates and podiatrist today.

Brilliant news Rosesandlilac I hope your op comes round soon.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

brook2704 Fri 26-Jun-26 06:55:13

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s very warm, we’ve had thunderstorms overnight
What lovely news to read first thing rosesandlilac, I’m so very pleased for you ❤️
Thank you all for your kind words, we had such a lovely holiday and arrived home safely yesterday afternoon after a wonderful week sailing the Norwegian fjords. The scenery with waterfalls and mountains was amazing and everything onboard ship was fabulous. We’ve been very well looked after and feel totally relaxed and rested,
I’ll try to catch up on all the news here over the next few days but hoping everyone is doing ok
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

ginny Fri 26-Jun-26 07:01:05

Good morning from N.Bucks. Still very warm here.
Rose. &Lilac so pleased things are moving for you now.
I have a nail appointment first thing and a prescription to pick up. Then home to pack as we leave for Cornwall tomorrow.
Our yearly visit and very much looked forward to. We have a week just DH and I and then we move in to meet friends on the Lizard.
Wishing all a good day with a smile along the way.

kittylester Fri 26-Jun-26 07:02:29

Good morning all from a very sticky North Leicestershire.

An early start today as DH has an early drive. I aim to go to my friend's gift shop to look for a couple of presents and we have yet another chap coming to quote for the wall repair. The insurance company has agreed to pay and a few people have turned up to look but then not sent quotes.

Much better sounding news R&L

Have the best day possible everyone.

monk08 Fri 26-Jun-26 07:07:39

Good morning all from the Black country another warm day ahead.
Once again no plans will see where the day takes me, started another book yesterday so that will keep me quiet.
Rosesandlilac reassuring news 🤞 the wait for the OP is not to long.
Have the best day you can everyone whatever your plans, keep cool😎

latedecember1963 Fri 26-Jun-26 07:11:43

Good morning everyone from a slightly cooler Lancashire.
We've had a sprinkle of rain and some thunder.

I'm so pleased you are finally making progress, RosesandLilac. I hope you get your operation date very soon.

We're planning to head to the caravan later today when DH has finished work.

Wishing you all the best day possible. 🌻

Astitchintime Fri 26-Jun-26 07:18:08

Good morning from the NE Mids. No breeze again this morning and the forecast is for it to be hot. There was a mention of thundery showers at some point with a 40% chance of rain…….I do hope it gets a move on.
Have a good day one and all!

Gagagran Fri 26-Jun-26 07:18:56

Good Morning from another already far too hot day on the central south coast. We are forecast another red zone heat day and an amber heat zone tomorrow so no relief in store.

To add to the heat effects irritation, I have just been advised that my Tesco order, due this morning has 15 unavailable items, including milk! How can a giant store run out of such a basic item? I realise they will have had a run on cold foods in this heatwave and that would make planning difficult, but milk unavailable? DH says he will go and find some and we can manage without the other missing items.

Our boiler is being serviced at 10am this morning which will probably entail it being switched on so maybe not the best day to be having it serviced!

I am a real moaning minnie this morning - sorry about that. I shall try to return to my normal equable self asap.

I do hope all with worries or struggles of any kind find some improvement today.

luluaugust Fri 26-Jun-26 07:20:41

Good morning from a rather warm W Kent where I shall be making an early visit to the supermarkets and that will probably be all apart from contacting poorly friends
Roses&Lilac so relieved to hear your news, a plan at last
Stay as cool as you can

Gagagran Fri 26-Jun-26 07:21:45

Delighted at your better news RosesandLilac!

Ashcombe Fri 26-Jun-26 07:23:48

Good morning from a slightly cooler Torbay, thanks to the breeze.

Our church was packed for our late priest’s funeral yesterday. His widow was surrounded by her family and the son delivered a eulogy which had been written by his father. Afterwards we came home and enjoyed a glass of sherry with my neighbour, who had joined us for the service, as we reminisced about the dear departed.

I’m glad you had a more positive experience at your appointment, RosesandLilac and will keep you in my thoughts and prayers as time goes by.

DH has a dental checkup this morning then we shall probably go for coffee in Dunelm. We know how to live!

I’m glad your cruise was such a success, brook2709, and would be interested in which company and ship you used.

Wishing everyone a cooler day! 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩
