I m loving this beautiful week (probably the only week, knowing British summers )
To feel the warmth in my bones, to see the blue cloudless sky, to to see the flowers with the bees and butterflies hovering around, to hear the birds singing and the kids playing really brings me to life.
I do understand how for some who are not well or confined to barracks or living in city centres, it’s tough, but forgive me, we have sooo little summer most years, a week here or there then it’s all gone and back to the jumpers and coats and umbrellas again, the dreariness, the darkness.

This is not a post for the heat haters to jump on I know you are there and vocal, this is simply an alternative for those of us who come alive when the sun is heating up our bones
Bring it on šŸŒž

I love the hot weather, I was a summer baby and I always feel happier when the sky is blue and the temperature is high šŸŒžšŸŒžšŸŒž

I agree! It’s the warm evenings I love the most, being able to eat outside and sit there till bedtime, is blissful.

Summer lovers. šŸ˜†

From the title, I thought you meant summer romances- I've a few of them I could talk about!

I like the summer, provided there's some air to go with it.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 26-Jun-26 08:29:27

Ooh naughty MartavTaurus summer lovers now that’s resurrected some memories…

I long for summer all through winter, cant bear the dark, grey cold days it makes me so unhappy, when the sun shines and its warm im a different person, love summer and wish it lasted longer!
All though at minute there is a monsoon and thunderstorm happening outside, hope it passes soon and the sun comes back.

Bridey Fri 26-Jun-26 08:32:11

Now summer loves, that would make an interesting thread!

BlueBelle Fri 26-Jun-26 09:19:45

Ohh summer lovers are they very different from winter lovers 🤣🤣well yes I guess they are, more accessible places, nothing like a sandy beach or a grassy moor, gosh what have you started MartovTorus

I love the summer but I don’t love sweltering in 37c heat and feeling drained most of the day. The type
of weather we’ve been experiencing this week isn’t normal and almost certainly down to climate change.
I’m really looking forward to next week when the temperatures will be back to normal - 22-24c and still sunny. I’m in the south-east and getting the worst of it so perhaps you’re somewhere cooler. My 26 year old daughter lives London and says it’s horrible - would you like to stand on the tube for half an hour in this?
So when you say bring it on, think of those who are really suffering and the very scary prospect of things getting worse if the planet doesn’t switch to clean energy.

I don't love winter, my birthday is in December, not a favourite month at all. Winter is grey, gloomy and just goes on far too long. Even a lovely Autumn can be spoiled by knowing winter will follow.

I do love summer but with a couple of caveats.....can I not get bitten, I applied my Jungle formula just a bit too late and can it be a little cooler, say mid 20s. I'm with you all on everything else, blue skies, birdsong, a life beyond being cloistered within 4 walls. Good for the soul.

This week hasn't been summer it's been hell. I suppose if you live where it's been cooler or near the coast it's different but in the cities and the southeast it's been unbearable. I like normal summers, love the lighter evenings but when there are health warnings being issued because of excess temperatures I don't think that's a cause for celebration. Anybody who works in a hospital will be able to tell you equipment is being affected by this abnormal heat and they're under extreme pressure.

The chiller cabinets in my local M&S have buckled under the strain and failed. Masses of food having to be dumped. The energy consumption trying to keep cool is horrendous and will do nothing to help with manmade climate change.

I'm a July baby and love the summer - just not 30+ degrees please!

As for summer lovers... well where shall I start!

BlueBelle Fri 26-Jun-26 09:56:43

Who’s SmartMike what am I missing ?
Well why do Brits constantly spend big bucks going to Egypt, Dubai, Greece, Spain, Portugal if they only like a British (coolish) summer Anyway this isn't meant to be a ā€˜moan about the heat’ thread there’s quite a few of them on the go already, and even if we have one hot day I bet your bottom dollar there will be a ā€˜roll on winter’ thread 🤣🤣🤣
Bring it on it ll probably be raining tomorrow

I will speak on behalf of my elderly neighbour who used to holiday in very hot countries. He would peg himself out on the patio for hours in very hot temperatures. He is now in his 90s and we are so grateful he loves the hot weather as it means we don't have to worry about him too much. He is out first thing in the morning in his vest top and shorts off on his mobility scooter to get his paper and milk. Great old guy!

Chocolatelovinggran Fri 26-Jun-26 10:00:57

Grannybags, I'm a July baby, too, and I love the long, sunny days, and warm evenings.
I live by the sea, so temperatures are moderated by a sea breeze.
My SIL is celebrating his birthday today on the beach with his family, and is a very happy chap. They'll pack up and walk home when the temperature rises later.
I love these days.

Fallingstar Fri 26-Jun-26 10:03:05

I love warmer weather and sunny days with long light evenings, but here in London it has been brutal, right now is 30 degrees with plenty of time to get much hotter. People are staying indoors if they can with curtains drawn and windows closed. For those going into central to work it will be ghastly.

BlueBelle the thread title says for summer lovers. Many of us love summer we just don't love and can't physically tolerate this extreme heat with all the awful consequences. Did you read the Guardian link I posted? People will die from the consequences of these extreme temperatures which the UK and its infrastructure is not adapted to deal with.

Many trains are not running, haven’t been for days. Have a DD in Bristol desperately trying to get back to London to see her sister in hospital but trains are being cancelled all the time.

LauraNorderr Fri 26-Jun-26 11:18:20

I must be a bit odd. I’m a winter baby who loves summer.
Love to feel the heat on my body, love to sleep with just a cotton sheet. Long cool drinks and cold foods.
Have to admit to preferring 24’ or 25’ to the low 30’s we are currently experiencing but better than -1’

LauraNorderr Fri 26-Jun-26 11:19:37

As for summer lovers I will just say that sand in the nether regions is not pleasant.
